Title: Shorted Old Dvd Drive(?), Please Help Transfering Old Key To New Drive
Post by: xbox130 on July 21, 2010, 12:38:00 AM
Hi guys. I am a new member here. I just bought a new xbox 360 and tried flashing it. I have the liteon 93450c model dvd drive and I used the newest jungleflasher tutorial from their site on how to flash it. I decided to go with the ck3 probe II method using the ck3 lite connectivity kit. I tried to follow their directions to the best of my ability. I was able to dump my drive and flash with ixtreme lt. So essentially I was almost all the way done and then all I had to do was repair the cut traces. I used come conductive glue but I think I might have short circuited the board and I already feel bad enough. I have been searching for hours on possible solutions but am stuck and hope you guys can help.  I think I shortcircuited the board because when I tried attaching the drive to the CK3 lite while the ck3 lite was on, the lights on the ck3 would just turn off and it said on another forum that this was most likely due to short circuiting the board on the drive. Does this sound right? If so, I thought maybe I could replace the drive with a new one and transfer the key? I already have a another drive. It is a samsung/toshiba ms28 which I was planning to use solely for copying games.  I already flashed it with ixtreme 1.6 0800 using jungleflasher. I was wondering is it possible to flash this drive with the key from my old one and ixtreme lt and have it work essentially as a replacement? Also, I only have the drive key from the old one. When i was trying to flash it, I stupidly (yes i know pretty dumb) did not save the ofw to my computer because in the jungle flasher tutorial, it said there was two ways that I could have used at the last step and I picked the latter which did not involve saving the ofw but going straight to flashing it.  However I found out jungle flasher saves the keys from dumps and found the key so that is all I have from the old drive. So the main question is how can I flash the new samsung with only the old key and is it possible to flash it with ixtreme lt at the same time? A step by step guide with be greatly appreciated as I am not very familiar with the jungleflasher program. Sorry for the long post but I only wanted to be as specific as possible so as to make things easier. Again thank you very much to all the experts for the help! I have been looking for a solution for hours and just need some help.

Sounds like you've got far too much conductive glue on there which is causing a short to ground.  Get some acetone/nail varnish remover, a cotton bud and remove it all.  You only need a tiny amount to reconnect the traces.

The best way of repairing the cuts of course is good old soldering.
