Title: Benq To Hitachi 59 Help!
Post by: alexw1990 on July 19, 2010, 06:12:00 PM
My xbox360 has the open tray problem and i have tried every fix on youtube - twice, with no luck.  I have another box here with an Hitachi 59 drive so my plan was to replace my benq with this one.  I have my original BenQ firmware already on the pc from a previous flash job.  I got the Hitachi drive hooked up and in mode b using no sata drivers for the pci card.  Jungle flasher see's the drive exactly as it should etc but i dont really know where to go next with this drive.

Trying to restore the previously flashed drive i get ...

Restoring Stock f/w to Hitachi 0058/0059 by Ram Upload Method via WIN32 API
Stopping the Disk - No disk is required, remove next time...
UnLocked!
Dumping Flash:................................Loading firmware from buffer
Parse Failed !

Drive rev undetermined, Aborting!

As i read it needs to be stock to flash how do i get past this problem???

Its driving me nuts i might just go buy a new benq drive at this rate but seems silly when i should be able to get this going ok ...

if the drive is hooked up to the via card, u need to change over to portio, not winapi.  winapi is for onboard sata.  if that doesn't fix things, it may be possible your pc hates hitachi.  either way, i really recommend just getting a new benq from ebay.  they only cost 20-25.

To get PortIO working you need to make sure your viaraid.sys drivers are removed correctly and you're getting a Status 39 error in Device manager.

First of all, disable your VIA card in Device manager then delete the viamraid.sys.  Enable the device again, and restart computer to make sure it's properly deleted. After reboot check in Device manager and there should be a yellow exclamation mark next to the PCI device with status 39 in Properties.

Open up JF and tick/untick the "VIA-ports only" checkbox.  If all went well you should get a popup saying "Via Card with satus (Code 39), Hitachi Port IO enabled!".

I've never had an issue with PortIO whereas WinAPI I could never get working properly no matter what I tried.

i did what you said but i just got this ...

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.

Not code 39 ...

did it again and got code 1 lol (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Yep, that's a lot different from 39 which is drivers are missing.  Reinstall the drivers from disc so it's all working properly, reboot.  Then start again, disable, delete, reboot, enable, reboot, check for 39.

See this post, especially Oggy's comment.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Which port are you using on your VIA card?  The only one that works properly for me is the one inside the box on the top of the card.  The one on the back gives strage results.

You're getting there anyway.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Do you have onboard SATA? That's what I always use to flash Hitachis.

So you haven't actually got a VIA 6241 card?

I'm out but try the onboard SATA instead.

Oddness...I take it you've tried the "Mode Select" method?

As a test I've just tried my ancient hitachi (58) and it dumps and flashes no problem with the latest JF

I'm puzzled to be honest, if you were near me I'd say to come and try it here (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)
