I love Ghost Recon Thunder Island because each system link player gets 5 AI team-mates and re-incarnates into the remaining ones when he dies.
Didn't know if others had created new maps for it and if their is a how-to on making new maps.
Is their a way to transfer maps from other ghost recon games into this.

Unfortunately, the Xbox GR modding community never got the big brains involved that were needed to extract the models. If someone ever figured it out, much could be done with the game (GRIT or otherwise). Example, GR: Summit Strike had open scripting elements, so those that could can actually write complete new missions. Or even new gametypes. Textures had been tackled. Ect. Models are the last untouched element really.

I used to be semi-active in the GR2 mod "community". I went by the name "GRDude" on the old (first forum) and then a little on recon2 mods before it went belly-up.
I was wondering if anyone still has the .glb extraction/rebuild tools they could post on filefront or rapidshare?
I want to add new weapons to GRIT -- Like the Scar and XM8 -- Which were developed by GR PC modders... And in order to do this, I need to extract the .glb file and then rebuild it with all the new .gun files in it.
Any help would greatly be appreciated as I need the .glb extraction tool(s) -- I think there were two versions of it; I don't care which one; perferrably the one that also rebuilds the glb file as well.
Thanks.

Recon2Mods never really went "belly up". Just couldnt get off the ground. I still have the site and all, just temporarily pulled it because it got hacked a few times. Nothing major, just defacement. But an annoyance. We just werent getting enough traffic other than weapons modding. As I said before, for the game really to have gotten off the ground, we needed some file experts for extracting the models.
But anyway, the extraction tools (IkeGUI or PhoenixIke) wouldnt successfully rebuild the ikedata.glb file. So hex editing is about the only thing that can be done there. If you just wanted to add a weapon using an existing model/skin (which is kinda what you have to do), you can just replace one. Find a weapon of your choice that is similiar but maybe no one really uses, change the name and all the values. Just do it character for character, so that the file size doesnt change. Might have to get creative with the name though. Also make sure you change your kit files. Cant remember the file structure for GRIT off the top of my head. I think there were some minor differences between it and GR2.

Have you tried to at least decompile the .glb files, put the files in their respective folders and see if the game functions just like you can with R63/BA when you extract the Xboxdynamic.umd files?
I ask is this may be a way to get around the game needing/referencing the ikedata.glb and other glbs (like for the maps).
We also maybe able to use the mod folder system the original GR engine was designed to use (unlike GR2) which would mean non-overwriting mods if the original ikedata.glb files were already extracted.
If you could at least please post the glb extraction tools (both of them)...
I can give this a shot and possibly breathe some life back into this game as GRAW is only for Xbox360, and the PC version of GRAW is terrible (bad performance; incomplete MP) and the original GR and IT are far more tactical games -- And the last of their kind to in-clude multiple teams, soul-switching and non-spawning enemies and are almost 1:1 ports of their original PC counter-parts.

i disagree in part about the pc version. if your system can handle, its a really nice looking game. though its true about the mp lacking modes.
i also agree that i think gr/grit is the best out of the series when it comes to gameplay.
as far as the tools, their posted at the bottom of this post. MODS: THESE ARE PC TOOLS NOT BUILT WITH XDK.
i dont think your gonna get anything out of having them extracted into seperate folders. because most, if not all the files, are already in other folders. gun files, kit files, vcl files, ect. actually i've deleted folders that have those files in them and the game will run without them. not quite sure i understand the point of having the files in folders and in the glb if only the glb is needed to run the game.
either way, goodluck, let me know if you get anything interesting.
also, if i remember, i'm pretty sure it will extract. problem is just in rebuilding (grit). not 100% on that though.
GRTools
also, you need the BETA v2.0 net framework for phoenix ike to run. cant remember which framework ikegui was made under, probably the same. heres a link to it. and credit goes to barranger for the tools, not me.

Thank you very much.
I don't want to get into a big discussion here, but the problems with the PC version of GRAW are far deeper than just poor performance (depending on system specs) as far as gameplay goes, both SP and MP.
Again, thanks for the tools. I will let you know if I have anything of interest to report back.

UPDATE:
Neither IkeGUI, or PheonixIke1, will open the original GR .glb files (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
(They open GR2 just fine).
Well, I guess it's back to the drawning board as they say...
