I think the idea is that doing a system update while having a costume FW on your drive will get you flagged/banned. So return to stock FW first before doing any system updates, then re-flash with custom FW.

You NEED to have split vid added to your games, my guessing is all older ones will need to be re ripped and then checked with abgx with add split vid if it doesnt exist or isnt valid.

Will updating my BenQ drive with iXtreme LT, and then spoof it as a Samsung ms25 (it was the original drive in my XBOX before it stopped reading discs) be fine, or will it be detectable? I have the original key of my Samsung and have spoofed drives before, so that's not new to me.
If LT mimics drive responses time and that BenQ and Samsung have different values, I'm screwed and have to wait for the Samsung version. If all drives are expected to have the same responses time, then that might work.
Any thoughts?

I've never used live and need to connect to live so I can stream some video to it. Not looking to play any games online, but might try some later at some point.
Prior to flashing from 1.6 to LT, I had downloaded the latest system update and updated via usb.
Just want to know if it's safe for me to sign up for xbox live now so I can get my update for video streaming.

interesting... I didn't know that. So consoles updated to the most recent dash dont need to be the same model as the original?
It makes sense though seeing as how most MS refurbs have benqs and liteons in them

i think the version i am using is 1.61. i flashed to it in october or november. but so far all new games play. i guess i won't flash until i have to. it is such a pain on windows 7 x64.

Why is it such a pain on Windows 7 x64. That's what I use to flash drive and I find no issues.

Can someone elaborate more on this? I had no idea the latest dashboard didn't do a DVD drive check? So I can buy a benQ, put LT on it and put it in my Elite with a Lite-On drive and it will work???
Are there any other webpages or references in the forums to this as a fact?

For me its because I still do it the hold way using dosflash and firmtool.
firmtool doesn't work under a 64 bit OS.
luckily I have my old 32bit computer.. that has a wierd problem of spontaneously turning itself off.. usually it stays on just long enough to run firmtool, erase the firmware off benq and write the new one.
I never seemed have much luck with jungleflasher.

I love Jungleflasher, especially now that it's 64-bit compatible. The only issue is with driver signing enforcement that Microsoft put in the 64-bit version of Windows Vista and 7. Once that is disabled, I don't have any problems with JungleFlasher.

It's a fact. As of the most recent dash, you can put any dvd drive in any xbox and it will work fine, as long as it has the right key.

At the top of ABGX you change input from "File(s)" to "Burned DVD"

Looks like you can spoof with the BenQ version of LT. I wonder if the Lite-On drive have additional checks built into the firmware which would make spoofing an instant ban move.
To the above poster:
SSV2 is much safer on Xbox Live than SSV1. SSV2 takes an actual angle measurement where as SSV1 is what Kreon drives give by using a known angle (since Wave 1 and Wave 2 games use the same angle).
You could get away with only using SSV1 with Wave 1 and 2 games but make sure the Wave 3 and higher have SSV2.
I reripped my entire collection of xbox games so they have SSV2 regardless of what wave they are. I'd rather be safer than sorry.

If a game is Wave 3 or higher it should be SSV2. If you are talking about a Wave 1 or 2 game and there is a title update, you should be fine.

i got the lt firmware from the JF 0.1.72 beta.. they are the same after reviewing them, so I don't think that's it..
Just tried flashing that fw from their twitter link and same result....

i got the lt firmware from the JF 0.1.72 beta.. they are the same after reviewing them, so I don't think that's it..
Just tried flashing that fw from their twitter link and same result....
I though LT was supposed to be waveless??
I have a BenQ flashed with iXtreme LT and it boots Wave 4 games just fine.
There must be another reason why you are having the problem.

which leads me to believe it's the way the games were ripped...but everything checks out on ABGX 1.0.2 but again we can't discuss it on this forum so I'll go look for help elsewhere...

What you can't discuss is game backups you have that you did not rip yourself (AKA Piracy)
You can discuss about games you ripped yourself with an 0800 drive. Games ripped with an 0800 drive will always have SSV2.
Do you have another wave 4 game you can try? Preferably one you ripped yourself.

Well I ripped MW2 with a kreon a while back...that's the only W4, my other rips were W3 and before. I noticed that all of them being on my kreon work fine, but anything else ripped with a 0800 doesn't work... I've used up 6 verbatim 2.4xs so I'm confused at best and do not think it's the drive as I have 2 boxes with the same BenQ drive in them and they are both on LT and don't read any of the 0800 ripped stuff....maybe a downgrade to 1.6 +the activate disc is in order?

What is the drive make that you are using as your 0800 drive? I am using a Lite-On as mine.

However my 360 must have been flagged. As soon as I logged into live (no game in the drive), WHAM, this console has been banned...
I had just gotten my 360 back from repair and used it with 1.60 for a couple weeks, then flashed to 1.61, then at first sign of bannings last year, took it offline. Haven't used it in months, was waiting for LT for Benq. I guess they had already flagged me.
So those of you with 360's that were modded (and in use on LIVE) prior to the ban and decided to not use them waiting for the firmware, you might as well forget it. As soon as you go on LIVE you're banned. Might as well get another 360 with virgin firmware.
And no I'm not crying or complaining. I took the risk and got their wrath. Just letting people know what happened and what to expect.

meh after ripping a newly bought MLB2K10 I think it may be laser related....as I tried the Pot tweak to no avail but even under 1.6 with an activate disk it wouldn't recognize the activate disc. The BenQ would just spin up and W4+ and then make like and "error sound" like 3 "engh engh engh"s and then say Open Tray....so maybe laser related after all..will post in a few weeks time when i get my laser..
