Title: Options On 93450c
Post by: DataMark on February 05, 2010, 03:13:00 AM
What extacly are the best way to mod the 93450C to run backups and what is the best option i was planning on going the route of getting the liteon key and buying a benq and spoofing as benqs are very straight forward to flash and would make life easier later on for future upgrades.

Any advice would be very helpful

choose boxddr or shtwept's method, in this section of the forum

once u get the liteon key it's a piece of cake upgrading  (need only erase and write), so don't buy a benq

hi there.  that is what i did for my elite xbox but i get someone to mod my drive because my skill level is no good.  once i got that key, i bought a benq drive from ebay and flash that key to it.  thereafter, no worries.  btw, i do not go Live at all for gaming but just go there and browse around only.  cheers!!

why buy a drive when the 93450 is basicly similar drive type?

its the original drive and the flash method is pretty much the same.

i would recommend you hexedit the calibration info from your 93450 original dump to the ixtreme lt fw before you flash it over, especialy if you intend to use live.

Firstly the current version of Jungleflasher already copies that info over,
secondly the info is considered to be useless and not used by the drive at all (manufacturing test data!)

Firstly.. JF does NOT  copy any calibration data to the drive. It copies it to the target buffer but this data is not written to the drive. This is a known bug in JF 1.7 and has been addressed several times. The only way to get your "cali" data is to copy the hex range into your target cfw with a hex editor.

NO! that was a bug which was fixed by current release!

IIRC it was fixed in version 1.70 build (86)

pretty sure they are right on this one.  u gotta use hex.  its ok though, tj is working on a new jf.

to the op, you can use the mra method to dump as well.  i use the mra method minus the switch.

sorry for stealing the thread abit but tried asking this before but never got any response so while we are on the topic about calibration data. What is it good for ? What difference does it make without it ? Because i have done a few NON-RMA dumps using LO83info on 83xxx v2 drives and flashed using dummy and inquiry/key etc.

Theoretically, the drive works better with it's original calibration data. Thus meaning less/no read errors, faster seek time,... .
Usually it shouldn't matter if you keep your calib data or not, since it is very unlikely to get banned because of that. But it would definitely do no harm keeping the calib data if you plan to go live.
Some people report problems after they flashed their drive without calib data.

I would recommend keeping the calib data (thus meaning you have to make a full dump of your stock firmware using boxxdr or mra method)
