Title: Xbr 3 Installed, Just Replaced Bad Dvd Drive
Post by: grafix_d on February 02, 2020, 06:04:00 PM
Hello, i have xbr 3 installed and working fine, my issue is that i just replaced my old dvd drive with a new drive of the same brand... it loads up xexloader just fine from disk, but it will not allow me to play backed up games from disk.  it just says to put this disk in a xbox360 to play it?  what do i do in this case?  I do have the original read from my old drive, but do I need to flash that to this new drive, then flash Iextreme1.61?  I thought that with the latest version of xbr we did not have to flash the dvd drive to play B/U's?

Thanks for any help

Yes you still have to have a custom firmware with the correct drive key to load backup/retail games on a XBR console.

Ok, so steps to do this right... flash dvd key from old drive to this new one... then flash custom/mod fw to the drive? sound about right?

thanks!
