NeoGenesis Sega Genesis/Megadrive/32X/SegaCD/MegaCD Emulator for XBox v17
http://xport.xbox-scene.com
what's new:
- GUI brought up to date with most recent
- Removed "Fix Screen Tearing" configuration option since it is no longer being used
- Added option to manually disable SRAM to fix games like Puggsy
- CDDA plays within BIN files now. You must have a proper CUE file for the BIN
and it must be named the same as the BIN file.
(e.g. MY_SEGA_CD_GAME.BIN and MY_SEGA_CD_GAME.CUE )
Load the CUE file - not the BIN file.
- BIN files that are actually ROM images and not SegaCD images should correctly
load as cartridges now.
- Added Reset to in-game menu and also as a configurable button
- All settings will be reset to a baseline when you start this version.
This will remove the default mapping of BLACK to the screenshot button
and will also default the Left Analog stick to act like the DPAD
during gameplay. However, any games you have previously played will
have their button configurations loaded from the previously saved config
file and will override the new defaults.
Enjoy!

Does that mean it's no longer necessary or just that it's no longer available as an option?
-
I interpreted it as being "no longer necessary".... I haven't seen any theads or anyone comment that "I no longer use fix screen tearing...I prefer tearing...get rid of that option Xport!" lol.
Great stuff Xport. Haven't got my new box up and running just yet, but can't wait. Much thanks.
-
This is great! The Reset option is golden! You truly are amazing man, Thanks as always!!
-
Thank You Xport!!!!

The option did not do anything so it was removed. It used to do something, but that code was removed in a previous version.

NeoGenesis is a Sega Genesis/32X/Sega CD emulator ported from Gens.
-
This is awesom work...no i must beg whoever can work on xSnes9x...It would be so cool if you could implement the ability for http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=183&products_id=4234&all_reviews=1 to work with it...i dont think it would be to hard if you knew how to program and had the source because it uses standard HID drivers...but alas i cant get it to work on my xbox :'(
-
oh man, i've been waiting for a new version of neogenesis for the longest time
thank you so fuckin much
and i see theres finally a reset button, i think this is the first xport emulator to have a reset button
-
Super sweet. Does this fix the sega cd video herky jerky hiccups or no? Cool if no.. still a welcome arrival!
-
Finally an update! Proof that good things come to those who wait
Thanks so much Xport
-
Does this emulator have an Auto Frameskip option? Or is it automaticly turn on by default? I know Gens itself has this option... I like to have it set because it helps smooth out emulation a little and prevent any slow downs that might occur.... also is it better to run Sega CD games from an orginal disc or image... I was playing my Original Lunar and the audio wasn't sync'd during the talking scene's....

Does this mean it stores the config files in sep directories like the new GBA emu?
-
Thanks alot xport.
-
Yay the bug with video mode selection not being saved is gone!!
I dont have to change back to 1080i everytime i start the emulator now
hopefully xport will fix the NES, Mastersystem/game gear and Atari 2600 emulators, the same bug is still in those emulators
-

Could anyone tell me why some games still give you the region lockout message or some games just give you a blue/black bar screen like frank thomas baseball. Just wondering if there is anyway to fix these things.

Some games might need you to specify the country. By default I think it's "Auto" which usually works for most games, but you might need to choose USA or Europe instead of Auto in certain cases.

I've found some problems in Sonic the Hedgehog that might be affecting other games as well.
The first is during the intro when it says "SE-GAA". There is noticeable sound distortion at the end that was not present in previous releases. This can be improved to a degree by enabling all of the sound chip Improvement settings but it's still there and definitely wasn't before.
The second I'm amazed I haven't noticed before since I checked v16 and it has the same problem, but Gens on the PC does not. On the title screen when Sonic pops up, the bottom part of the Sonic graphic overlaps the top of the logo whereas it should be behind it.
EDIT: It seems the graphics problem can be resolved by enabling the Sprite Limit setting in the ROM options. Does this cause problems with other games? Just wondering why it's disabled by default.
Also my ROM settings aren't being saved between games. I'd like to request this feature please.

Settings now retained when configuring next game, sprite limit setting defaults to enabled now.
As for what you're hearing - I just spent the last 10 minutes flipping between v16 and v17 and fiddling with the sound options for both and I can't hear any difference at all for any combination. They all sound the same - so I have no idea what you're hearing. The one I'm testing is "Sonic the Hedgehog (JUE) [!].bin"
-
Just figured out what it was. Turns out it was the Overclock CPU setting causing the problem. And it does the same thing in both builds so sorry for bothering you with that one.

That's fantastic, Thankies! BTW, also just wanted to say thanks for the Show FPS option it's awesome for tweaking 32X games.

I have a request...
Any chance that you can add a "force PAL to 60 Htz" option? I recall that Gens for the PC used to be able to do that. This made games like Megaman the Wily Wars a bit more playable. That game is region protected so you need to set it for pal to play it but then it runs significantly slower from what I recall playing it at before the change.
Need to grab the latest version to see if the ISO/MP3 sega cd set bug was corrected when loaded off a DVD.

There is a hacked version of this ROM that runs in NTSC.
