what is it i need to do in order to be able to run non-english .srt or .sub subitles
in XBMC or XBMP?

Download the subs from a site like: Subscene and place the sub files in the same dir. as your movie with the same name.

Example:

Spiderman2.avi
Spiderman2.srt

That's all and your set.

Not sure if it works with XBMP as i only use XBMC, like all of us should ;)
