Title: Can Xmp Play .ty Files Taken Off A Tivo?
Post by: mcmikemc on April 01, 2004, 01:00:00 PM
Well I just got done hacking my Tivo and it no longer encrypts the video and I can now get the video off it. The files are called .ty files. These files are just mpeg2 files in a slightly different format. Since it is a compressed format it will degrade when I convert it to a regular mpeg2 file. I don't want this so I was hoping that I could play them on my Xbox.

So does anybody know if this has been done or can be?

sorry, I don't have an answer for you, but have you tried just renaming the .ty files to .mpg/.mpeg, and seeing if either XBMP, or XBMC can play them?
