Hey, I'm Trevor, and I've gone by Enepsis for years so some of you might recognize the name, especially if you spent some time modding Halo 2

Back in the day, I had an original Xbox modded with an Xecuter 2.6 LITE, upgraded hard drive with Avalaunch and EvoX, all the bells and whistles I'm sure you know. But to my misfortune my cousin stole and destroyed that beautiful piece of machinery, though I was able to recover the hard drive.
The other day I found 2 old xbox units that are in working condition, one is a version 1, and the other is a version 1.6. Which brings me to my question:
Would I have to have the same modchip to get all the shit that was on my hard drive back to being operational, or will a DuoX3 cut it?
All help is greatly appreciated!
Any other pointers are welcome as well! (Better modchip recommendation, dont install on the 1.6, whatever you got!)
TL;DR: Would a hard drive that was used in an Xecuter 2.6 LITE work in a different xbox, with a different modchip, years later?

long story short.
If you havent locked the drive or you can unlock it iif it was locked then..
you can use any flashable mod chip you want its more the bios thats importaint to you.
try to use the same one. Probably an x2 bios..
if you have a 1.0-1.5 you dont need a mod chip you can soft mod it. then when its softmodded you can tsop flash it with an x2 bios.
i would use heimdalls xbox engineering disc (hexen) to flash it.
If you want the stupid long version with lots of info and details, just ask.
p.s
the duox3 is a clone with 256k banks. so remember that when chosing a bios.
hexen will flash a 256k bios and expand it to any given size.. so if you do tsop flash you can just chose a 256k bios and not worry what size the tsop is.

Well damn.
If you'd be so kind as to give me something of a walkthrough, that'd be super. I know my way around a lot of this stuff, but I simply have no info when it gets down to details.
I have no idea the state of the hard drive itself, but I assume it's easy to unlock it?
I mean, easiest way possible, I just want my shit to work again! I'd like to softmod it but I somehow managed to never own Splinter Cell, and my Action Replay bullfuck is gone for good.
I'm heeding pretty much any and all advice. haha

You could try soft modding it using the hotswap method, only hardware you'll need is an old pc with ide mobo connection and a CD/DVD rom.
Best guide i've found is here -
