Title: Xbox Ethernet Adaptor Pins Bent Fix Help
Post by: Heimdall on May 07, 2012, 03:40:00 PM
You may be in luck. Ethernet only uses pins 1,2,3 and 6, and they number right to left as you look at the connector with the pins at the bottom. Consequently just straighten them, and if pins 7 and 8 break (the badly bent ones) it should still work.

You can't use USB wireless devices on the XBox.

how are you at soldering?

i have a few boards here i striped down for ram and collectors.
i could send a ethernet port over to you depending on how hard they are to remove.

they dont look so bad really..
2 big old pins for stability then 8 little do dahs.

the port is just a port though so thers no reall way to tell if the ics chip is good or not.
you have to have it all ghooked up to a network for it to asign an ip address.

de solderd a lan port earlier for you if you want 1.
i did it like so..

Added a little bit more solder to al the pins. heated them up good. used solder sucktion pump to remove the solder. after i did that there was tiny bits of solder residue left so i used my hot air rework station to heat up the pins at the same time ane pulled the port off with pliers..

i could have simply used a desoldering braid and a soldering iron but that would have taked aproximatly 5x longer lol.

the chip is on the motherboard close to the IDE connector. it's what does the network. "as far as i can tell atleast"
Should probably be fine

just get a desoldering braid and a soldering iron. put the braid on the solder then hold the soldering iron on the braid hold it there untill the solder has been absorbed in to the braid. repeat as needed "some flux may help"

when its all desolderd (2 big blobs 8 small blobs in a group then 2 sets of 2 blobs) the port will just pull off but all the solder needs to be gone.
put the new port in and then put the soldering iron against the leg that sticks through the mother board and press the solder against it. when the leg gets hot enough the solder will melt, then remove the solder and soldering iron and you chould have a nice little solder job done. Again repete untill its all solderd on again.
