Im getting ready to do a slim box but this time instead of using the standard 2 device ide cable can i use a single device ide cable from mobo to hd only no dvd?

as long as you have a modchip or TSOP flash youll be fine

a softmod requires the DVD drive, or at least the DVD board to be present
