I wish xbins would allow me to connect to their server so I can get ver 4 of this very nice port (it tells me I am not allowed to connect on this server message). Till then its still a hassle trying to find it via search or torrents, etc

Not to bash the hard work that anyone has put into this program (as I think its a wonderful idea), but I have a question regarding BOR in general:  Does it support editable controls via mods (street fighter style move inputs, or forward forward for dashing) or is it really nothing more than a program that allows different "screen packs"?  What drew me to this is the fact that they have several Street Fighter side scroller mods available, and it seemed to be what I've always dreamed of.  But once playing it, I soon realized that all of the moves are still the same (three buttons with an extra move by hitting forward forward attack).  It is seemingly missing some "necessities" of side scrollers like dashing and being able to grab an enemy, and jump to perform a pile driver ala Final Fight, or a suplex ala SOR3.  While all of these mods are very appealing from an external point of view, once you play them and realize that you're stuck using the same couple of moves rather than a variety like SOR3 the appeal dwindles very quickly.  Is there an existing capability for this type of modding?  Or is it something they just haven't implemented yet?

In any case I appreciate having what I can play with.  I guess what I'm dreaming of is more of a side scrolling mugen, if only.....

dry.gif I'm not sure if this error has been addressed in v3 or not when you guys went to v4 but on my Sailor Moon mod and my Ed Edd n Eddy mod, when I throw someone and then immediately after that if i want to jump, the game freezes. I think the "key stroke" of me doing a throw then a jump is messing it up but I'm not sure.

Great work, XPort.  This gives OpenBOR exposure to a whole new community.  As far as your question, guybird, OpenBOR is designed to eliminate just that.  BOR mods (using the original engine) tend to suffer from the same repetitive feel.  Things such as customizable freespecial combos, f f used for running/dashing, jumping on platform, etc have all been added.  Grabbing/throwing has always been a part of BOR.  Piledriver moves have not yet been implemented, but will be at some point.  This is why this port has been so important for these newer mods that utilize these features.  Unfortunately, even with this new engine, old mods created using the original engine will have none of these features.  Feel free to try games such as Final Fight: The Last Round, and some of the newer demos that take full advantage of these new features, and you will see something completely different.

Just to let XPort know, as well as everyone in the BOR community, I have released v2.0045 DOS .exe that more than anything fixes some of the bugs that have been pointed out.  I've tried to slow down new feature additions to focus on eliminating some of the bugs that have been lingering around.  I believe it is just about there.  I have also tried to make porting compatibility changes that make it easier to port to other systems.  The DOS compiler is very forgiving, so as a result some earlier versions used code that worked great for the DOS version, but presented problems in porting.  Hopefully these problems should be eliminated, or at least greatly reduced to make it easier for those porting to other systems.  The latest versions are available at http://www.openbor.net

U will be happy to know that I am remaking Strider X, + (X-box) which will use Street fighter type control
like F,D,F Attack and F,F = Run (special new run animation edit that I created that set the character up for a running attack by exposing the weapon instead of hideing it) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) . F,D,B attack, and others you have to experiment to get the full range of this mod. Plus 2 Secret chars and a Stage fron Strider-Warriors Dream ( the prequal that explains the story with Loryu and Hien). Plus cameo's of future Striders that will or might be playablein the 3rd installment (Strider-Soilders Unite. Working title)  So if U dont have Strider X This update is a must. If U do have it This update is a must. I'll be finished ?  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Thank Xport for giving me the push I needed to get back into modding.    (IMG:style_emoticons/default/jester.gif)

I'm having a hard time finding a download of the mod 'Rage of the Streets' that isn't corrupt.

I've downloaded it three times now off the bor-revolution site where RotS is hosted on Megaupload. Anyone know any other place I can download it?

http://borrevolution.vg-network.com/cmods.html

On the same site, 'Street Fighter - Beats of Rage Remix 2' mod is also corrupt :/

This is probably a stupid n00b question here - I know this is a port and not an emu, so there's no skin.  Knowing that, is there any way to change the position of the mod selection text at the top when this first loads?  Right now, the mod selection text is half cut off at the top of my TV and there are no screen resize options (at least that I've seen).  I also couldn't find an .ini or anything like that.  Is there anything I can do or am I stuck?

Thanks for releasing the source X-Port.

I have a quick question, I have Visual Studio .NET 2003 installed now. What else would I need to compile it. The Windows port requires the DirectX7/8 SDK and a Visual Studio service pack if I remember.

Do I need anything other than the XDK? What version do you use of the XDK?

I realise that you won't be able to update OpenBORX everytime a new release comes out (weekly or bi-weekly mostly) so I'm looking into the possibility of compiling it myself (with your permission of course) to add any bugfixes CG adds to the DOS port.

Also the 3 player code I mentioned before is now available for download at:

http://borrevolution.vg-network.com/3playerDCBORsrc.zip  <--DC Source
http://borrevolution.vg-network.com/WINBOR3PLAY.zip <-- Windows Sources.

On the DC source and one of the Windows sources, all the relevant 3 player sections are commented, though again this is something I can implement myself once I get the X-Box source to compile.

You shouldn't need anything else besides the XDK.  I believe I'm using build 5558 but I'm not 100% certain.

You're not looking hard enough.  A screen resize option exists.
