Title: Soft Mod Question.
Post by: jeSteRC on November 21, 2006, 11:48:00 AM
When a box has been softmodded, does it actually write any instructions to the HD?

I ask this because this is what I am contemplating.

I have a hard modded box with a 120GB HD.  My chip is now dead.... BUT I did manage to unlock the HD before the chip died.

So, would it be possible now for me to remove the chip, throw in my original HD, softmod my xbox and just throw in my unlocked 120GB HD and then lock it back to the box, without having to do anything else?

TIA....

Softmodding is just that, software modding, its all on the HD, so you could install the M$ dash on the bigger drive then softmod from there, or use ndure/xboxhdm to rebuild the C on it

The only way to use that 120 drive in you xbox is if you have an eeprom backup and can lock it using XboxHDM (and put all the stock files on at the same time).
