Title: Pgr3 Achievements
Post by: twistedsymphony on December 09, 2005, 02:51:00 PM
This is a work in progress... Lots of people seem to ask how to earn the achievements in PGR, It's not as clear as some other games. I was rather curious myself. I can't seem to find any guides online so I scoured a few boards and gathered what I could... If you can fill in any blanks or know something contrary to what I've posted let me know and I'll update this beerchug.gif

Also you can see which Kudos maneuvers you've completed by entering the "General Statistics" option under the Achievements menu.

One of the hardest badges to earn is the "Kudos for every Maneuver" here is a guide on how to achieve that

QUOTE
the definitive list of what you need to get
-Drafting
-Overtake
-Overtake (Draft)
-Air
-Two Wheels
-360!
-Braking Drift
-Braking Feint
-Braking Power Over
-Drift
-E-Brake Slide
-Feint Drift
-Power Feint
-Power Over
-Combo Bonus <- awarded for linking up any of the above maneuvers
-Clean Section <- awarded at every check point
-Fastest Lap <- awarded after every lap, only one lap needs to be the fastest
-Clean Race <- awarded when you win the race (provided you had a clean race)
-Top Speed <- awarded when you win the race (provided you had the highest top speed)
-Position Bonus <-awarded when you win the race (provided you win)

What you DON'T need to get:
-Cone Gate
-Racing Line Accuracy
-Time Bonus

Neither the list in the book nor the list in the achievements menu is complete.

I did it on the last track in solo career set to novice. I picked the McLaren for this course because it seems to slide the easiest without being completely out of control like the Ferrari F50 GT. The track is wide open so as long as you're not completely stupid clean race is cake, also on novice you could easily lap all the other cars which makes it easy to get way ahead of them to get the Air, Two Wheels, and 360! Kudos. I start off trying to get the Draft, Overtake, and Overtake (Draft) kudos then once I do that I just blow by them getting a few random drifting kudos until I'm spaced out enough to get the harder ones like 360 Air and two wheels, once that's done just work on the drift/slide-list.

Also Clean Race IS required, that means you can't touch a single wall or a single other car EVER. This makes draft pass one of the hardest things to get because honestly the other cars just go too damn slow.
Top Speed is also required so make sure you set something record worthy on the stretch (don't crash). Neither of those will show up during the race, just make sure you do them. Everything else I've listed will show up during the race (including Fastest Lap).

For Air and Two Wheels the hairpin turn just before the last stretch is the best place to get them the apex of that corner is like a jump it you hit it straight at a good speed you'll catch air no problem, if you hit it a bit slower with just the left side of your car you can get Two wheels. (if you have trouble with 2 wheels try turning a little when you hit it to shift your weight).

Here is a breakdown of how to perform the various types of slides. from "megasnake" on the gs forums:

QUOTE

E-Brake Slide (using the handbrake to slide)
Feint Drift (when the turn comes up, steer in the opposite direction of the turn shortly then suddenly turn the wheel to the right direction at full force to make the car's weight shift slide the car in order to make the corner)
Braking Drift (use the brakes to slide)
Power Over (slide through a corner using your cars rev power to create a slide, so basically overuse the gas to slide)
Power Feint (combination of feint drift and power over , best done by releasing gas in front a corner doing the feint drift and apply a lot of gas while turning the wheel)
Braking Feint ( apply the power feint maneuver but instead of gas use brake , hard to pull off because the game will often see it as braking drift instead)
Braking Power Over ( approach a corner much to fast , then just in front of the corner release the gas , AFTER THAT just hit the brakes hard while maneuvering your car through the corner)

What I did was write down a list of all the maneuvers and paid attention on the screen, whenever I earned something I paused the game and checked it off... I was able to get this badge in 3 tries. The first try I missed on of the slides, I didn't know how to do, then I found the above descriptions. The 2nd try I hit another car in the first lap trying to draft pass so I just exited, and the 3rd try I got it.

track builder you build like 12 tracks or somthing...im at work ill check the box when i get home

^^^ Yeah, you have to build and save them for the Track Builder Achievement. I think it's only ten tracks, though. Sorry, it's been a while. (IMG:http://forums.xbox-scene.com/style_images/oldx/folder_post_icons/icon4.gif)

For the Pro Racer Badge, you have to win a Platinum medal using manual transmission. The drift events and the "time vs. Kudos" events are both ideal for this achievement. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

For the Arcade Player Achievement, you have to play both Geometry Wars games in your Starter Garage. After you exit (or die) in the second game, you will receive this achievement when you're logged back in. As far as I know, it's not dependent on which game you choose to play first.

I'm still working on the Style Racer Badge, but this is what the game says: 25m powerslide, 10x combo, 25,000 online Kudos, 1,000 Kudos in a race, Kudos for every maneuver. I'm as sure as sin that I've done all of the requirements for this achievement, but no dice. I think I may have missed the 25m powerslide, but I've nailed the never-ending powerslide without a problem on the Vegas track. Then again, it's not a track specific goal so I think I might give it a go on the test track. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I'm still trying to figure out the style racer one myself.

I got the Pro Racer one on the last race. (F1 circuit) I think its pretty easy to beat the computer on Platinum if you pick the right car. I found the Ford GT to have an advantage against the computers on that track. So I raced with the manual against them with that car.

Then I must be missing something else. I just don't know what because I'm pretty sure I've met the requirements. Maybe I need to find some more maneuvers for the "kudos for every maneuver" thingy. I don't think I've come across anyone that has that achievement. I only need four more to complete the list. The Gold Achievement is within reach except for the Timed Run on the Nürburgring.

@Tripme:
You do not have to purchase Geo Wars for the Arcade Player achievement. You can get it by doing what I said eariler in the thread. However, it's interesting that you can unlock that achievement by purchasing the game. Thanks for the info. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

have you done a 360?

looking at my kudos stats that's the only kudos item that I've never done...

You need to pic a track with a really wide open area, then pick a rear wheel drive car with more power than it's own good. use the e-brake for the first 180 and the over bearing power for the last 180.

I used to do them in PGR2 all the time but I haven't tried it in PGR3 yet.

top post updated.

is it just me or is PGR3 much harder to achieve stuff in then most of the other games.

I see just about everyone with COD2 has 200GP from it, 50 for basic training and 150 for completing the war

I see just about everyone with Madden 06 has the full 1000GP from it. If you play a single season and Sim out 30 years I'm fairly certain you get 80 or 90% of the achievments... and the last bit is just exploring the options in the game.  dry.gif

Geometry wars is really tough to get GP in as well. I guess Bizarre wants us to work for it  wink.gif

Yes, that's true. BC do make their games more challenging than a lot of other gamemakers while keeping them fun and addictive. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) I like the achievements, especially the challenge of the two BC games as well as Hexic (haven't tried out PDZ yet). It's the Gamerscore I don't care for. I wish we could at least do something with it. Free Live Arcade game with every 5000 points maybe? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Hell, I don't think I've broken 500 yet. lol

Edit: For the Race Against the Clock Achievement, you need to set a lap time for every circuit in, duh, "Race Against the Clock" mode (under Playtime). Very time-consuming but also very easy.

Gotham TV Sports Fan - 15GP
Online Professional - 60GP
Race Against the Clock - 50GP
Style Racer Badge - 50GP

i think the style racer badge is an online career badge. cause online career is the only place you get an award for 25k kudos and other things that the style racer badge requires.  when i get some more time to play online which is in a week or so, check my gamercard, i have a feeling i'll have that style racer ;p

This may or may not be helpful to people but I got the Style Racer badge after one of the cone challenges. Maybe it was a certain score that I got above, or perhaps I didn't crash in it (don't remember) or maybe all the turns were "stylish."

You bastard. I was hoping you nailed it. IPB Image I've done several 360s, and my longest slide is a little over 206m. Still nothing. I wonder if the game counts the various types of slides each as a different maneuver. If that's the case, then we need to find a complete list of all the slides.

Here are the ones I can think of off the top of my head:

Here are the ones I can think of off the top of my head:

  • heroic
  • legendary
  • gutsy
  • screaming
  • breackneck
  • never-ending
  • brisk

i think they just mean the different slides and manuevers listed in the stats menu... such as: Power feint, braking drift, power over, braking feint, etc etc etc.... there is a lot in there,... if you scroll through the stats menu and see points in all of those lines then i think you're ok,... i am not sure of this bc i haven't playedmuch online therefore i dont have 25k online yet,....
but the way i read that one, i think it's just all the listed manuevers, not those different names they give you depending on how fast you're going or whatever,...

and to the other poster who got this acheivement after a cone challenge,... i doubt it has to do with doing the whole race clean or something, it is probably just that you were missing a certain manuever that you pulled off in tht challenge....  just my guesses tho, as i do notyet have this one,..... give me some online time and i'll report back

checking a few board it would seem that all menauvers refers to:

Drift
E-Brake Slide
Feint Drift
Braking Drift
Unending Drift
Power Over
Power Feint
Braking Feint
Braking Power Over
Overtake
Overtake (Drift)
Racing Line Accuracy
Air
Two Wheels
Clean Section
Clean Race
360!
Drafting
Cone Gate
Time Bonus
Posistion Bonus
Fastest Lap
Top Speed

The hardest of which is the unending drift which can only be received by doing a single drift (read not a combo) that nets you 300+ points  ph34r.gif

Updated the top post... I now have the requirements for everything.

There are PGR Badges associated with just about every requirement for Online Professional and Style Racer

You can see which badges you've earned and which ones have yet to be earned under the "Achievements" in the main menu.

On another note PGR3 online career mode is hazardous to your rep  sad.gif

I played a number of "Playtime" game and had great fun, I met lots of cool people around my skill level, doubled the size of my friends list, got to race on some of my custom tracks.

I hadent touched Online Career until last night... The first race no one even had their headsets on, Everyone spent the entire race trying to spin out the other cars. And the few races I actually managed to win I was left negative feed back because of it dry.gif

Almost all the people ive played with online have raced very fair, just side by side without crashing into you. Sometimes is un avoidable but ive had a good experience with that.  I do agree that people give you dumb feedback though!!  If you accidentily hit someone or you win and someone is mad about it, they give you bad feedback wich is retarded.  Thats okay my rep is still good.  If anyone would wanna race with me sometime, feel free to add me to your friends list.  Ive been caught up in other games at the moment but im always up for a quick game smile.gif

I was racing online at 4:00am this morning and noticed that my next race would be on Gotham TV. I was a little nervous becuase I read here that you need to place in order to get the Gotham Hero achievement. Then I saw that I was  starting in first. I'm doing fine then next thing I know I'm pinned against the rail. I end up one second away from finishing the race. I was discouraged, but when I looked at my Gamercard there it was: Gotham Hero!

I got the achievement but I didn't actually finish the race, and I was in at least 6th place. I think all you need to do is be in a race that was broadcasted, and play it through, not even to the finishline, just don't quit.

yeah it stands for emergency brake, although i use both terms, if its in your center cousel of the vehicle i call it a hand brake, and if its an extra foot pedal which i dont play around with as much as the hand brake i call it the emergency brake

ok for all kudo manouvers in one race its best to take the last championship in the solo career (eliminator half f-1 circuit), if needed , take the novice difficulty to buy you time  to bust out your moves and get the fastest lap manouver.

Drift (if u dont know how to do this u dont deserve the badge tongue.gif )

E-Brake Slide (using the handbrake to slide)

Feint Drift       (when the turn comes up steer in the opposite direction of the turn shortly then suddenly turn the wheel to the right direction at full force to make the car's weight shift slide the car in order to make the corner)

Braking Drift (use the brakes to slide)

Power Over  (slide through a corner using your cars rev power to create a slide, so basicly overuse the gas to slide)

Power Feint   (combination of feint drift and power over ,  best done by releasing gas in front a corner doing the feint drift and apply a lot of gas while turning the wheel)

Braking Feint ( apply the power feint manouver but instead of gas use brake , hard to pull off because the game will often see it as braking drift instead)

Braking Power Over ( approach a corner much to fast , then just infront of the corner release the gas , AFTER THAT   just hit the brakes hard while manouvering your car through the corner)

Overtake ( pass a car )
Overtake (Draft) (sling shot past a car u were drafting)

Racing Line Accuracy (usually given at the end of a lap ,  to get this  be at the outside of a corner and turn inward during cornering, then turn outward when exiting corner  this is a basic racing strategy to get through corners fast )

Air (hard in this track , use the last corner of the race i recommend in the beginning,  you have a bump there where the chicane is , jump it (Not too fast!!) end in in the grass , dont hit the wall or u wont get the clean race manouver)

Two Wheels ( best to use chicanes for this ,  you can also use the same bump as the jump/air manouver , only have half your car take the bump)

Clean Section  (dont get any penalty's for a certain section of the race)

Clean Race  (dont get any penalty's for the entire race <- DONT FORGET  restart when u get a penalty since u wont get this)

360!  (simple just spin a 360 quickly , turn your wheel to one side and spin is the easiest way to do this, be carefull you have enough space to not hit any walls though)

Drafting (stay behind another racer who is accelerating)

Cone Gate (THIS IS NOT NEEDED, maybe it is when u try it at a cone challenge , but there is no reason to do so)
Time Bonus ( THIS IS NOT NEEDED ALSO, unless maybe u try it at a breakthrough i guess)

Posistion Bonus (basicly dont finish last . dont know if its only top 3 or top 7)

Fastest Lap (be the one with the fastest lap time at a lap (CAUTION: this will come up when the last person crosses the finish line so not when u cross it)

Top Speed ( THIS IS NOT NEEDED, only accounts for multiplayer mode)

Emergency Brake is the more proper term because it's not always controlled by your hand  wink.gif  (though any car worth it's weight in carbon fiber uses a proper hand brake).

Yeah you're correct about the Gotham Hero Achievment...

Also for the Style Racer badge... I have a clarification. The "points for all kudo's maneuvers" really requires you to own the "all kudo's maneuvers in one race" badge...

I found this on the Game-FAQs forums

I also found this on the xbox forums, followed it to the T and it really worked.  i'm not all that great at the game but i was able to pull this off in about 15 min.

I don't know why you're quoting TS about the Online Pro Badge. It seems like you're implying that you have it, but you don't. Within the first couple weeks of launch, if I remember correctly, someone had the same achievements as you so it's not impressive anymore. He was just missing the OPB. The problem still hasn't been fixed.

If you did have the OPB, that would impress me. rolleyes.gif

my bad - i thought he was talking about the style racer  unsure.gif

Do you need a hand off that high horse???

So is it 100% true that the Online Professional achievement is impossible to get?  I'm pretty sure I've done everything to get it, but no luck so far sad.gif   Does anyone know if Bizarre Creations intend to release a fix for the problem or not?

Also, as we're on the topic of PGR3, does anyone have any idea why my Complete Car collection badge would keep disappearing? - I keep earning it, but whenever I go back to the game I find that I don't have it despite owning every car (buying any random car makes it appear again, but I just widh it would stay grr.gif )

Well since you've earned the Style Racer perhaps you could give me some advice...

The "Kudos for all Maneuvers"

how do you get that part?

Some have said it's simply kudos for every possible thing that could give you kudos, some have said you have to earn the "kudos for all  maneuvers in a single race" badge...

So which is it. Also do you have to do anything more then what's listed in the ahievment description?

any help would be appreciated.

Ill do my best.

You have to do all kudos types, from page 10 of the manual, in one race!! (that’s the little book that comes in the front of the game box, for those of you, who just use it as a coaster)

Some wont count in certain situations e.g., a cone gate is not needed in a street race.

But yes you do need the "all kudos types in one race" badge.

To be honest, the quote you made from megasnake probably sums it up the best.

If I remember rightly, the achievement description is a bit vague (same as the exotic car club), unfortunately I can’t read it, because I have already achieved it (and for some reason, it wont let me view the requirements).  But if I remember, I only did the ones listed.

Hope this Helps

The best race to do this on is the last Eliminator.  You need kudos for 360, Overtake, Drafting, Air, Two Wheels, Clean Race, Best Lap and all the different drifts (e.g. Drift, Power Over, Brake Power Over, etc) if I remember rightly.

Nope - I've just installed the patch and the achievement still doesn't show up grr.gif

Bizarre Creations are basically washing their hands and saying that its down to MS to release a patch for it, so who knows when (if ever) anyone be be able to get the Online Professional achievement.

EDIT: re-aranged for better organization

You can touch cars quite heavily and still get Clean Race kudos - PGR3 is a lot more forgiving than previous PGR games.

I believe you have to use the same class throughout

I did it with the A class because faster cars= shorter laptimes = I got it done faster  laugh.gif

if you mean the instruction manual then no...

if you mean a strategy guide you purchase then yeah I suppose so but why pay for an overpriced guide when there's one here for free?

besides I wrote this guide before there were any available in print.
