Europe and Japan Get Smaller Backward Compatibility List-- Posted by XanTium on November 15 20:39 EST
While Microsoft announced the http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/sep/EEFEZyVVkFVfzVTRgC.php also includes some 'remarks' next to the translated Q&A interview with Todd Holmdahl informing us Japanese gamers will get the CD with those emulation software updates sent to them for free. In Europe and USA/CAN you can download it free from Xbox LIVE or download the update on your PC and burn it yourself but if you want the CD sent to you you'll have to pay a 'nominal shipping and handling fee'.

Of course, as for all regions, Microsoft said more titles will be added to the backward compatibility list in the near future.
You can see the full list of PAL (Europe) backward compatible titles http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/games/backwardcompatibilitygameslist.htm.
The NTSC/J (Japan) list is available http://www.xbox.com/ja-JP/games/backwardcompatibilitygameslist.htm.

11 games?? Woah, ahahahahahahha, thats really funny. How the hell does MS expect to capture the Japanese market with BS support like that?!

I don't understand why they would have differing lists asside from games that we have here that just weren't released there... are there that many that we only have 12 games in common with Japan from our BC list  blink.gif

If so... no wonder it tanked there.

Surely I'm not the only one that noticed this:

Why would 'Dead or Alive 3' be on the USA list but not the JAP list?

Also, this isn't a big deal since hardly anyone there has any xbox games to begin with. MS is aiming at new customers, not loyal customers.

Also, MS has stated that they're aiming at the biggest selling and most popular LIVE games. As far as I know, Japanese xbox games are neither.

It's not on the JPN list because no one here bought it.

i dont mean to argue since i dont live there, but i have it in a magazine that at that point in time it was still the best selling game.  i know that DoA xtreme volleyball was one of the few games to cause the least bit of excitement in japan.

I'm pretty sure that billions of people don't give two shits about you either.

But thanks for blatently showing your ignorance.

Oh, no, you're correct.  I meant comparitively.  It was perhaps the main/only reason Xboxes got sold (and then sold to the pawn shops..).

Indeed, it was perhaps the biggest seller, but that's not saying much for a region where you can find factory sealed 2003 consoles on the shelf....
