Title: Maximus 79 Pass Key Problem?

I got a Maximus 79 Passkey and I lost the ffc connector that you solder onto the DVD drive. DOes any one know where I can just buy the ffc connector?

Id use wires then, sorry I dont know a place for connectors

That connector is stupid anyways. There is barely enough room to put your cable in when it is soldered on and it can easily get ripped off, damaging all of your traces.

Just do it with wires. That way, you can take your time and minimize the risk of bridging connections and/or ripping traces.

Thanks for the reply but I have installed lots of them and I can put the connectors on just fine I just lost one so i need to find where to buy them.

I agree with xboxologist, in the time you spent creating/reading this thread you could have done a wire install - but i didn't just come here to say that. If you are still looking for one, i'd just source it from mouser/digikey/etc or something. If you really can't find one after that, PM me and i can sell you one of my extras for a buck or two.

Yes I'm still looking for a place to buy the Connector, if you know which one it is on any of the sites let me know, its asking me for pich and other stuff I have no clue about. Also if you have some connectors ill buy them.

what Ive seen people do is scrap the traces in different spots and solder the wire, that way they are not as close.

Its cool I found a place where I can get the connectors, The connector is way better then wires, I do lots of 79 installs and I dont leave the chip on I just like to have the connector so I can update there Xbox if they need it.
