Title: My Fix To Gta:sa
Post by: Slawek on June 09, 2005, 06:45:00 AM
Xbox 1.6, latest version of Evox, X3.

I backed it up using Px HDD Loader or whatever it's called.  I go to play the game from Evox, nothing, boots back.  I went to disable TSR, IGR, nothing.  Updated bios, set settings to default, turned off IGR in X3 Config Live, and STILL nothing!

Decided to try to run it through XBMC, and voila, it works.  I had to disable IGR for it to work in XBMC.  However, I quit after playing a while, went to play again later, and it booted back to Evox.  WTF?

I read on another forum try using different dashboards.  So I went to the xbins ftp site, got Avalaunch, extracted it to f:\apps, and GTA works fine.  TSR and IGR are enabled, nothing special needs to be set.  It just works fine using Avalaunch.

I also read that Unleash X works just fine too.

My suggestion:  Try using a couple different dashboards.  I dont understand how some people run the game fine by disabling one setting, but the same solution wont work for someone else.  I guess it might have something to do with your DVD or what xbox version you have, or a combination of settings.  Who knows, I'm no expert.  But I do know put on a couple dashboards, leave settings at default, and see which one works for you.  I dont mind having Avalaunch sitting there if it's just used for GTA.

Good luck people! It's a great game..

might I recomend unleashx it's better then all the rest and the built in file maneger/text editer will allow you to edit your gta files on the xbox, no more ftp'ing.

Evo X is perfectly fine...I bet the people are editing the setting in Evo X and not saving...you HAVE to go to Save and Exit after you disable TSR. I use Evo X and XBMC

Well guess what, it doesn't work for everyone.  No one is editing files, they're just copying the game, and trying to play it.  And it doesn't work.

It's just a suggestion to try to get people to enjoy this game without pulling their hair out.

you know, they could be copying a dirty disc, even with just one small hair, so clean off discs before backing up, and make sure you SAVE and EXIT in Evo X

for me to get mine to work:

1. Patched the XBE using craxtion and FTP'd it back to the xbox
2. Go into Evo X options and set Region to 'Auto'
3. Restarted Xbox

OR

1. Patched the XBE using craxtion and FTP'd it back to the xbox
2. Go into Evo X options and set Region to 'Auto'
3. Set TSR to Off/No
4. Restart Xbox

...

Im not sure whether TSR must be off because it was already off on mine, but I think the region thing did the trick

i was running gta from a pal xbox, all i did was turn auto switch for video mode on and set that NTSC was the other mode to auto switch to in Unleash X settings, and it was fine. Did not disable anything else...

Did the same thing on 3 of my mates xbox's and worked fine ... All pal aswell.

My Xbox is a v1.6 one with an X3 chip. I am running Unleashx but for some reason I cannot fathom GTA San Andreas just will not work. Every time I run it from the DVD or hard disk my system reboots. I have tried to change the settings to NTSC and other combinations, but all to no avail.

Could someone please shed some light on this?

Thanks in advance.
