Dash Launch v2.22
Posted by XanTium | June 17 19:41 EST | News Category: Xbox360

cOz released a new version of Dash Launch build for JTAG 360s.

What's new/fixed:
- resolving 'localhost' when the router forwards it to the internet or there is no network at all... bad idea game devs... fixed (Yars', maybe others)
- button handler now more reliably removes Y and A mishandling when held on miniblade exits
- added new note to readme regarding update prompts and avatar data missing
- hopefully extracted new games are now working fine, instead of GOD only
- potential bug corrected in 12611/12625 patch sets
- add 13146 compatibility
- all patch sets updated to fully remove xex bound checks (ie: default.xex on root of USB causing E71)
- "remotenxe" option added to ini(thx adihash!)
- windows button on remote always boots to NXE/media center now(thx adihash!)
- added "guide" and "power" path options to set boot time default override
- changed kxam.patch, first .long must be the kernel version the patches match
- added a check to kxam.patch data to abort on invalid address
- added "nohud" option
- added installer check to verify at least the 1BL segment of patches before installing, will re-ask and warn of possible corruption/brick

Hello Folks, Does anyone know what happened to FSD 2.0?  Haven't heard from them in awhile and their last post was in April.  Hopefully we will hear something soon.

Start button still go to default even if defaut is not set? Those are my settings:
Default =
Guide = Hdd:\FSD2\default.xex
Power = Hdd:\FSD2\default.xex
remotenxe = false
I only want Remote, Guide and Power to start FSD, I want Start button to run NXE.
Also in this setting remote will go to NXE.

Maybe it is better to have specific startup setting like:
Start= Hdd:\FSD2\default.xex or *NXE
Guide = Hdd:\FSD2\default.xex or *NXE
Power = Hdd:\FSD2\default.xex or *NXE
Remote = Hdd:\FSD2\default.xex or *NXE
This way We can run NXE or my choosen program via every way I can power on the xbox (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif).

Another and maybe better way we can run NXE, is if we get access to run stuff from flash (not FlashMu:\). This way We can run
Flash:\dash.xex and load NXE.

Also normal buttons like (A, B, X, Y and bumper buttons) should also run NXE. this way if A is configured to run NXE, and I exit from my current program while keep pressing A, it will go to NXE.

Thanks.

Yeah, hoping the same. it's been quiet.

Heard there was some possibility of media player intergration coming, too.

The Disk Swapper plugin doesn't seem to be working on my box.  Mass Effect 2 (in GOD containers) gives a disk error, I believe at the point when the disks should be swapped.  Worked fine on the last version of freeboot / dash launch.

Anyone else having the same issue?

I'm still having issues with the PingPatch. FreeStyle Dash no longer shows System Link Patched. So I'm not sure if its just FSD not showing this and the PingPatch is working, or the PingPatch in DashLaunch is broken.

Ever since I updated my JTAG to 12625 and installed DashLaunch 2.20 and 2.21. FSD no longer shows System Link Patched. So today I updated my JTAG to 13146 and installed DashLaunch 2.22. FSD still no longer shows System Link Patched. Is anyone else having this problem?

I will try and join a game on Kai later to see if the PingPatch is broken or FSD is broken.

Before anyone asks. Yes I am signed into a profile. I know System Link Patched only shows up when signed into a profile. I also installed the 13146 System Update to get Avatars back.

AmyGrrl it should still work even though it doesn't show up in fsd. I was able to connect when I tried to play halo reach in the columbia room.

; note that Right Bumper is ALWAYS default to return NXE

utar:
mass effect 2 has been a problematic game for auto disk swapping, most have just played it extracted with the content from both disks combined.

I tried everything mentioned in the readme file, but still can't get the $$ysytemUpdate folder recognized after 2.22. At the prompt, I selected to NOT block system updates. I'm trying to get avatars and such back. Please advise. Thanks!

It says right in the dashlaunch nfo to rename the systemupdate folder to $$ystemupdate. On another note, to anyone who has updated their jtag to 13146, do your profiles still work? I'm sure quite a few of us have modded them with an xuid to make avatar dlc work. Well this new dash is doing the same thing the official update does, it CORRUPTS modded profiles. Surely since we have jtags this check should of been removed. I'm not sure who to try and contact (makers of freeboot/ coz from dashlaunch) to ask about this, nor do I even know how to contact them.

Thanks cOz! Does anyone know of a way to set the HDD delay time to an additional few seconds? I switched to a HDD Dock, and ever since then, I always go to NXE instead of FSD on a coldboot, I assume due to slow spin up times. It would be awesome I I could just add a line to the ini and make the boot process hold for an addtional few seconds, instead of having to boot twice from coldboot.

Try changing the "bootdelay =", that should work.

I just installed 13146 to my falcon and everything went fine!
When I installed dashlaunch (after choosing the settings) did a restart and my console freezes at the starting video!!!
I did everything (flash,settings,install dashlaunch with different settings) at least 10 times and again it freezes at the starting video....
any ideas? sad.gif

Quick question after getting the new dash launch and installing the new 13146 is it safe to put the USB stick with the update into the front of the 360 and have it just copy the new system files over to the hard drive? I wanted to hook my connect back up but it wants the new system files. I know it was safe on one of the old dashes but I wanted to make sure someone had first hand experience with it.

Also is there any way to just copy the data over to my hard drive using someone else's donated system files to get the kinect and such up and running? I would feel better about that. Thanks.

@ The guys having problems with the boot logo showing up then the box freezing straight away - I had the same problem, I needed to erase my nand then restore it from a backup using nandpro.

I have an issue with this version.

Xbox originals I made myself -

These were working before updating the dash and dash launch 2.22 - Black, crash bandicoot TWOC, Wallace and Gromit project zoo.

After the update - only Wallace and Gromit project zoo works - black and TWOC fail to start.

Obvioulsy project zoo wouldn't work if there was a problem with my files but it does so the problem must lie with Dash launch 2.22 - please fix this devs, cheers.

you couldn't even restore by booting to xell/xellous with the eject key?

Not a good sign with this then...potentially bricking quite a few 360s...especially for those that bought their 360 prejtagged.........or in my case, though having jtagged a xenon ages back, my current jasper I didnt do, nor do I have the flasher (and my soldering skills are crap - took an age to do first one)

if you didnt install the jtag wires yourself and bought it then you should never get something when it comes out. give it a while, sometimes dash launch releases a new version right after to fix the new bugs.

i havent updated mine yet. still waiting just to be safe.

...I had the same problem with my falcon ...flashed it so many times  and I ended up messing up xellous (not sure how) ...so I had to put back my lpt cable ...it was a pain 'cause my horrible soldering skills (my xbox is the only jtag I've ever done  tongue.gif)

...so I ended up flashing a backup of freeboot 12611 with nandpro and dashlaunch 2.22 installed just fine (I think I'm not going to try to update again for a wile)

CODE
XexTool.exe -d resource default.xex

this will give you a folder called "resource" with files like "13146z" (patches_zephyr.bin for 13146) (z=zephyr, x=xenon, j=jasper, f=falcon) "lhelper" (lhelper.xex) and "launch" (launch.xex)... if you put lhelper.xex and launch.xex beside fbbuild exe, you can build images with it already installed. This will bypass any issues with the installer itself, and the rest is going to come down to ini issues. Using a USB key with a launch.ini on it is very helpful to try different settings to see if you can find the problem one, as USB keys are relatively fast (compared to USB hdd) and the USB ini will be loaded before/over any other.

BUT I do have other dashlaunch problems from the last version (usb/memory unit detection when not inserted on bootup)...so woulda been nice to see if it fixed it

This was initially thought to be a dash launch problem... but turned out to be a FSD problem. Give it a go, run anything BUT FSD (xexmenu, nxe, games) and see if removing/adding a USB stick gives you an issue. If you still have a problem then, please post back.

cory you are the man!!!
THANK YOU!!!
My mistake was that I used the same folder for every version of dashlaunch!!! I didn't notice that this folder had 2 other folders from the older versions of dashlaunch! I deleted the folders and installed dashlaunch just fine!!!
My Falcon is working perfect right now booting straight to FSD!!!
Although I have never used swap.xex the problem was with the older patches!
Guys DO NOT use the old dashlaunch folder! Use a new one!!!
Thank again cory! That's what I mean explanation! biggrin.gif

Though not sure if you've seen my recent thread about it ( http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=732471 )  .....I suspect it possibly is.  Well, since removed the ini file entirely, though booting to NXE, it's been working fine.....so must have been either to do with what was in the ini or FSD itself (recent version but an update rather than clean install).

I've been planning to reapply the ini file, but with just the basics in, to FSD, and then see what happens, and if worked, then add each of the options........but may likely just set FSD to boot from a trigger button reset if it still does it with the basics

yup you're right - have got DL v2.22 on now.  And as you say, same problem.....the moment FSD is loaded, it then locks down your usb ports (and MU ports) so can't swap anything about.

Not sure if that applies to guitar/wired controllers mind......hope they fix that with the new dash if it ever appears.

so, you resolved the usb freeze at bootup simply reflashing the 13146? and did you reapply the dashlaunch 2.22?

To be absolutely sure you're removing the extra folders in the installer directory (as seen in, pre-2.22 dashlaunch), I'd format the USB stick and make sure you don't have any folders nested inside the "installer" folder.

Also fixed the crash on booting by deleting the plugin for swap disc from the launch.ini

Thanks for the update

i tried again with the 1.1 version,  putting it in hd0: folder and pointing the [plugin] to it: it worked fine!!
are you sure you're using the 1.1 version of disk swapper? where did you located it? maybe something wrong in the multi.ini file?

Yes I'm sure it is 1.1. Locate it on HDD1 root with the multi.ini and the launch.ini

CODE
Here is the multi.ini:

; this ini has the same rules as launch.ini and must be placed on the root of a device
; paths are determined the same way (Usb/Hdd/etc) see dash launch sample ini for more info

; title ID is used for ini category (can be found in fsd, with xextool, the folder name built by iso2god/nxe install)
; use only numbers and small letters here
; only disks listed in the correct titleid category will be parsed from this ini
[454108df]
; dead space 2
; paths for extracted games MUST end in a \
; extracted game folder MUST have a default.xex in it, even if it's just a 0 byte file
disk1 = Hdd:\Games\Dead Space 2 D1\
; paths for GOD games must point at the root CON descriptor, and NOT end in a \
disk2 = Hdd:\Games\Dead Space 2 D2\

and the launch.ini :

[QuickLaunchButtons]
BUT_X = Hdd:\Content\0000000000000000\C0DE9999\00080000\C0DE99990F586558
BUT_Y = Hdd:\Freestyle\FreestyleDash.xex
Default = Hdd:\FS2alpha\default.xex

[Plugins]
plugin1 = Hdd:\swap.xex

[Settings]
nxemini = true
pingpatch = true
contpatch = true
fatalfreeze = true
regionspoof = true
dvdexitdash = true
xblaexitdash = true
nosysexit = true
livestrong = false

To be absolutely sure you're removing the extra folders in the installer directory (as seen in, pre-2.22 dashlaunch), I'd format the USB stick and make sure you don't have any folders nested inside the "installer" folder.

Hers a question how do you stop the jtag from rebooting or freezing was working fine before I installed and updated dash launch 2.22 is there anyway to uninstall it? or find someway I could add another dashlaunch without rebooting or freezing to the jtag
