Dash Launch v2.11 BetaPosted by XanTium | March 13 23:10 EST | News Category: Xbox360 |
| |
cOz released a bugfix version of yesterdays Dash Launch build for JTAG 360s.
What's new/fixed: * fixed xbox1 launches (thanks folks at x-s and fsd for reporting)
Official Site: n/a, by cOz Download: n/a (built with XDK) Full Readme/NFO: xbins.org

-
Just a note, this and the last (2.10) release aren't tagged as beta... 2.09 was because the source of freestyle crashing had not been found when it was released.
-
Can I install this 2.11 over the old 2.08 (or any other versions) without any problems?

Someone help me out here....i guess Im discovering dashlaunch a little late, but i cant figure out how to get it to work. Its my understanding its built into bestpig now, but I cant seem to get it to work, I have put the INI file on my hdd root but cant get it to launch. when i tried to use the installer xex, my system would not boot and had to restore from xellous
whenever I do a tutorial search and it brings up some tuts posted from 2010, that have you manually add it to bestpig before you build your freeboot image, which now is no longer there in bestpig. could someone help with the confusion

Just download this latest version of dash launch, copy to usb stick or your hdd and run the .xex file it'll install it for you.

Well of course 2.11 is out! I updated to 2.10 about 18 hours ago, so of course it's out of date!

Great, isn't it?
(Not being sarcastic)

not complaining about the solid work people put into this - just my poor timing!
-
hey..
quick question..
I edited the launch.ini and put freestyledash.xex as the default boot option which makes freestyle dash boot at start up without holding any buttons..
so if I want to go back to NXE dash with the A button, what file do I put in launch.ini ... file name and location please.
thanks
-
chase: there is already a button permanently assigned to return to nxe, the right bumper. That said, if you really wanted to assign it to A you can use
CODE
BUT_A = Sfc:\dash.xex

thanks alot cory1492..
i didn't know the right bumper was assigned to nxe.. and its still good to know which file is used for the nxe dash..
thanks again..

Unfortunately I'm finding that since updating to 2.11, my box is sticking on the boot screen, just after it says "Logged in" which stays on the screen.
This doesn't happen all the time, but about 1 out of every 2-3 times I boot.
I've got the latest Freestyle and I'm using the Game Room skin.
Here's my launch.ini. Incidentally, I haven't found a way to get back to FSD2 via the Mini Guide. Is there something wrong with my .ini that's stopping this working?

I have mine set to auto signin, and haven't encountered any issues with 2.11 or any previous versions.
Would love for quickboot2.1 to be able to create containers for XBLA and GODs though, it's such an awesome application and even more so now you can use it with a mapped Samba drive.

hello..
ok so I just added a whole bunch of XBLA games to my internal HDD.
i have setup my file path to point to the 000000000 folder since all the 360 games and xbla games go in there.
but problem is some xbla games are shown in xbox 360 games section and some are in arcade game section.
and some of the ones in the xbox 360 game section, I tried to move them to the arcade game section but it doesn't give me the option.
and not all have banner or background images.
how can I set it up so everything ends up where it should and all the artwork is there.
please and thanks..
-
Why don't you just place them in seperate directories?
I just have a games folder on the HDD and in that ISO2GOD, XBLA, NXE directories. I did have them all in Content/000000000 folder but just used a quick batch file to move them into seperate folders.

I know i can put them in a custom folder anywhere on the HDD and point FSD to the folder and it will work.
I'm trying to set it up so it works in FSD and NXE dash and for the xbla games to work off of the internal hdd in NXE dash, do you not have to put them in the 00000000000000 folder ?
Also, what quick batch file did you use to move them into separate folders ?
thanks..

well, thanks for the update
I was still stuck on 2.06 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
But now I have also the SWAP DISC feature...
Just wanted to ask, is this good for Dead Space 2?

Game starts very well from FSD!
(But it's marked as disc2)
-
You should either use [cOz]'s swap.xex or use the plugin for FSD2, not both.
As the swap.xex works, i'm still using it. I use FSD2's Samba client to map the HDD to a windows drive (look in Network Sharing Centre), then use a batch file to generate the multi.ini
If you want to use that batch file http://www.themolehole.eclipse.co.uk/multi4.exe you can, but it was for my specific needs rather than anyone elses. When it asks to move XBLA and GOD content to \games, make sure you enter N. Will rename the existing multi.ini to something else.
Someone with a devkit could have easily done something proper, but I guess there's no need since fsd2 now has it's plugin.

What's the plugin for FSD2? Auto included? Or do I need to download it extra? How can I setup?
I have right now this:
Freestyle Dash 2.0 RC2.1 - TeamFSD.zip
And as you mentioned I have downloaded the swap.xex (disk_swapper_1.0.zip) from cOz, I thought that 1 is the only solution right now...
I have FSD2, and FreeStyleDash 1.0 too :-D
If it's included in FSD2 (teamfsd.com is down right now, so I cannot check!), than it would be enough for me!
-
No idea if it's in that archive, i've let it auto update for the last few releases. It will download updates to the plugins if availible, but as their site is down....

like Dead Space @ 2 Disc 1 and disc 2?

I have mine set to auto signin, and haven't encountered any issues with 2.11 or any previous versions.
That's wierd because Dashlaunch via the Miniguide does work for me even though I haven't got the nxemini = true setting. In fact I just checked the info_launch.ini that comes with Dashlaunch and it says it defaults to True. I don't recall Dashlaunch install asking me about it either, only whether I wanted to update my launch.ini, which I always say Yes to.
However, it was useful seeing your launch.ini as it made me realise I don't even have a button assigned to FSD2, I've just set it as Default. Then again, it says in the info_launch.ini that it should use the Default when no buttons are pressed. I think it does sometimes, but I've found it doesn't work when I'm in NXE, which is a pain.
I also have never had any troubles with boot/signin before 2.11, so I thought a bug might have crept in there. I did update my flash recently to use thermal settings for the fan, rather than setting it to 70% in FSD2, but I wouldn't have thought that would cause any problems.

DL for 9199 that worked perfectly. 12611 is where the issues started. I can't get it to work and IDK why.
-
It definately asks when it installs, "Do you want to relaunch from miniblade in NXE dash?" is the first question it asks when updating the launch.ini.
It's has worked fine for me since 12611, although lately it doesn't seem to work while running the stock dash. It still works fine from within a game or FSD2 etc. I really can't remember if that was the case with previous releases.
If it doesn't work for you at all, i'd check your timing.

Well I guess I must have answered yes to that question, else it would have put a "nxemini = false" line in my launch.ini. It shouldn't matter that it's missing if it defaults to true anyway.
Having checked, it does seem to be working OK from in-game, it's just from NXE it doesn't work. From there, as soon as you press Y on the miniguide it drops you back to NXE instantly (no "are you sure Y/N dialog) and there's no opportunity for DL to do anything. This isn't new and I don't recall any version of DL working from NXE.

My 9199 DL 2.02 works perfect from NXE. As soon as you hit Y the message box goes away and they it relaunches into the default choice.
-
I don't think I ever tried it with 9199 but at least it's not just me that it doesn't work for with 12611. Hopefully it can be fixed, as it's a pain not being able to easily get back to FSD from NXE.
-
You can use QuickBoot 2.1 (also by [cOz]) to create a FSD2 entry in the demos or X360 section of the games library. With Samba, you can just point to the root of the mapped drive and it will create shortcuts for every XeX file it finds and place the shortcuts in the correct directory.
It's a shame it doesn't work with XBLA or GODs though. You can extract the XBLA to get the XeX file and it works with that, but then the XBLA still needs needs unlocking or it just loads up as the demo version. Haven't tried it with the content patch though., but I guess it won't work.

Cheers for the tip. I'll do that for now and see if I can fiddle with the displayed name (IE 0-FSD2), so that it appears at the top of the list of All Games in the Miniguide, which will make it quicker to access.
-
doveman007, do you have FSD set as default item when you are trying to return from NXE? Basically, timing wise, you open the miniblade, press Y to close it then immediately press and hold the button of the button for the thing you want to exit NXE to (if default item is set, you just release Y and it goes)... if that is button Y you have to release Y and press it again (being able to exit this way out of NXE was pretty much the point of the 2.0 line... if you have to work around it then something is really really wrong.)
Btw, quickboot was done by dstructiv not [cOz] (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

It was an easy mistake to make, there's no readme or about box in quickboot other than the XeDev icon. As the Dashlaunch readme had the XeDev at the top, I just put 2 and 2 together and got 5.

Hi. I posted my launch.ini here and as you can see FSD2 is my default. I've since modified it a bit so that Y is also assigned to FSD2.
Still, as soon as I press Y it just closes the miniguide and leaves me on NXE, so I guess something must be really really wrong, although as it seems others are having this problem with 12611, I'm less inclined to think it's a problem with my particular box.

If it were me, I would have directory names without spaces. The brackets could also upset it's ini parser.
Try:
CODE
[QuickLaunchButtons]
Default =
BUT_A = Hdd:\Content\0000000000000000\C0DE9999\00080000\C0DE99990F586558
BUT_B = Hdd:\Apps\Freestyle Dash\FreestyleDash.xex
BUT_X =
BUT_Y =
Start =
Back =
LBump =
[Settings]
nxemini = true
pingpatch = true
contpatch = true
fatalreboot = true
fatalfreeze = false
xblaexitdash = false
nosysexit = false
Also remember launch.ini may be present on multiple storage devices.
-
So weird...it worked before the update.
To simplify things, I tried:
CODE
Hdd:\menu\default.xex
That didn't work....
So I had to go to:
CODE
Hdd:\Content\0000000000000000\C0DE9999\00080000\C0DE99990F586558
That worked.

hi guys,
sorry for the noob question, i've update to 2.11 on dash 12611 but still get the update game message and also cleared system cache.
i've noticed one is to patch Freeboot when upgrading dashlaunch should i click yes to this? or do i require to build something with the original nand?

Probably needed to shutdown and power up the console for the flash to take effect.

Hi cOz,
many games cannot be paused during cutscenes, tutorial-parts... and so on.
It would be awesome if the game can be paused by a button-combo.
Is it possible to integrate a "pause function"?
-
What's wrong with reading the readme.txt the included with DashLaunch? it really doesn't take much effort.
Contained within the readme is the answer to your question.
-
Sorry, read a readme from an much older version and the launch_info.txt from 2.11. But thanx anyway for redirecting me to the readme it held the answers indeed
