Title: Dash Launch V2.05
Post by: soulwarrior on November 13, 2010, 08:16:00 PM
It's been out all day, but it's still not on the front page. Found at the usual place:

Dash Launch 2.05
----------------

****
    at time of this writing, this is ONLY compatible with "freeBOOT" 12611
    read info_launch.ini for info on options and setting launch parameters.
****
    This a core rewrite, major changes were done to the paths used in the ini
    file, the installer can update these for you if you have the old ini files
    accessible at the time of install. See the inlcuded sample ini files.

    The installer is now much more robust, and can even flash the appropriate
    patches to your console for you, all that is required is that you have
    installed freeboot 12611
****

 ================================================================================

    Overview - what it does
 ================================================================================

- It will launch a XeX or CON file from the path you specified in launch.ini
    as long as it's valid
- Depending on the button you hold when the xbox is trying to load the NXE, it
    will divert to the xex/con tied to that button or return to default as
    defined in launch.ini
- Depending which button is held when closing miniblade in NXE (use Y button to
    close, release then hold a QL button) it will quick launch a CON or XEX
    from your ini file
- allows one to patch kernel/xam at bootup with a freeBOOT patch style bin file
    from usb or hdd (in that order) must be in root of the device and be named
    "kxam.patch" and be no larger than 0x4000 bytes. Again, kxam.patch binary
    format is the same as a compiled freeboot patch bin, but uses real virtual
    addresses rather than offsets - see 1.0 release for a windows patch builder
- with the included patch set, launch.xex acts as a helper to detect when
    xbox1 emulator loads, allowing memory unlock patch and xbox1 emulator
    to function together

 ================================================================================

    Installation
 ================================================================================

- have the required freeboot version installed on the console

- get the installer to a place where you can run it, and do so. Follow onscreen
    instructions. The installer will prompt you if it needs to update the
    freeboot patches and will give you an opportunity to configure the new
    options

- edit and place launch.ini where you would like it
    **See inlcuded sample and the info ini which describes the options allowed**

note: the installer includes upgrade paths for dash launch 1.0 users, it will
    optionally update launch.ini files wherever found to use the new path names

    when upgrading an existing flash ini file, the installer will fix the paths
    as needed and write it back to the installer's files directory to be written
    to flash, if you have provided an ini file for flash installation be sure to
    say no to the upgrade prompt for an existing flash ini file

 ================================================================================

    Important - going to NXE
 ================================================================================

- if you need to go back to NXE and have default item set in ini, HOLD RB while
    exiting game via miniblade or exit using one of the miniblade options like
    family settings or system settings

 ================================================================================

    INI notes
 ================================================================================

-it's possible to have multiple ini files, priority is: USB, HDD, BB MU, FLASH
    (** it is NOT recommended to launch USB con/xex from hdd ini **)
    -see http://code.jellycan.com/simpleini/ for more info on the ini parser

 ================================================================================

    Caveats
 ================================================================================

The work herein is presented as-is, any risk is solely the end users
    responsibility. While all of us are sorry when unforseen things happen, not
    every situation or mistake can be accounted for before they have been
    spotted. Please use responsibly.

 ================================================================================

    Thanks
 ================================================================================

-Big thanks to those who opened the way and those who made it even more usable.
-Thanks to Tux, Arbiter, stk, the2000 and Corrupted for all the bugs you caught
    trying to sneak by!
-Thanks to Tux, Ironman, JPizzle and Dionis Fernandez for helping procure a
    Jasper big block console to extend testing and fix NAND MU corruption bug
    Dionis - you went above and beyond!
-Thanks to vgcrepairs for providing the cygnos, dash launch likely wouldn't
    exist without one.
-Thanks to FBDev and mojobojo for the data used for the patch options
-Thanks to sm32
-Thanks to unknown, you know why

great work,

so i noticed there is a plugin option, which plugins are available for dash launch?

the only thing that i have is a patch which is the ping limit patch, i assume the patch is different from the plugin and regarding this are there any other patches available that i may need?

make sure to have launch ini on the root of the device

Hi, I finally decided to give Dash Launch a shot, but it doesn't seem to work for me.

I have 12611 and here's what I've done:

- Ran the installer, everything went fine.

- Edited launch.ini and put it in the root of my internal HDD

- I also copied launch.xex and lhelper.xex in the root of my hdd, although it was not mentioned in the instructions.

Still, even if I boot with the X button pressed, I get the default dashboard. Am I doing something wrong? Here's my launch.ini:

CODE
[QuickLaunchButtons]

BUT_X = Hdd:\Content\0000000000000000\C0DE9999\00080000\C0DE99990F586558

Default =

[Settings]

; if true, brining up miniblade in NXE and then pressing Y will cause launch.xex to relaunch for you

; note you must release Y button then press desired QuickLaunchButtons after

; if not present default is TRUE

nxemini = false

; if true ping limit will be removed for system link play (thanks FBDev!)

; if not present default is FALSE

pingpatch = true

; if true (most) xbla will no longer need yaris patching (thanks mojobojo!)

; if not present default is FALSE

contpatch = false

; Normally when a fatal error occurs the xbox will just freeze, setting this to false will cause a reboot or powerdown

; if not present default is FALSE

fatalfreeze = false

; when fatalfreeze is set to false, setting this to true will cause the box to reboot, setting it to false will instead have the box shut down

; note that this option does NOTHING when fatalfreeze is set to true

; if not present default is FALSE

fatalreboot = false

; when set to true, it is possible to hold RB when launching a game to have the region that the game gets from xam spoofed

; if not present this is set to false

regionspoof = true

; when regionspoof is true, you set your region here in hex, for examle devkit would be region = 0x7fff

; if not present but regionspoof is set to true, this is set to 0x7FFF

region = 0x7FFF

Thanks in advance!

I put my launch.ini in the root of "HDD1" and it worked...i also had just renamed the sample_launch.ini to launch.ini and used that one...

my question is, too update from 2.04 to 2.05...you just have to run the (new) installer again?

nevernow:
I guess because the
Hdd:\Content\0000000000000000\C0DE9999\00080000\C0DE99990F586558
is the default, eg. NXE :-D

You should change it to FSD, for example:
BUT_X = Hdd:\Freestyle\FreestyleDash.xex
Default =

If you hold the "X" you will have FSD started, if you don't hold any buttons the NXE will start.

EvanVanVan: yes, just move to the xbox and rerun the installer.

I tried doing the same and it worked, I'll try to understand what's wrong with my launch.ini.

About your question, in my understanding it won't hurt to run the installer again since it's very self-aware and only does what's needed (in terms of patching and the like).

You have to wait until the controller syncs before holding a button at boot time. Apparently if you hold a button before then, the controller itself does not report the button as down until it has been released and pressed again.

Ok, it seems I was just pressing the button too early. Only pressing it when the initial Xbox 360 sphere logo screen shows up works fine.

Doesn't change anything on Fable 3.
Black screen booting from internal, works as a GOD or from disc.
Guess it's not an AP2.5 problem then.

This version still isn't allowing me to exit correctly.... say I load a XBLA or Homebrew Apps and then I choose the exit option it then returns me to KXE dashboard instead of the default FSD that I set.... pressing the guide button and Y to exit still works.... Dash Launch 2.03 allowed me to exit correctly... I really hope this gets fixed...

Just booting from a rip of the disc in Freestyle freezes the 360 when it launches. Using ISO2GOD it works fine, from NXE or FSD.

Just my 2 cents...

Jasper 256 with FreeBoot .04 built with fbbuild (using ibuild compatible files extracted from original nands with 360 Flash Tool .97 and console-specific SMC patched to remove PCIe bug with smc_io r0.2a), and Dashlaunch 2.05.

Fable III works fine from USB external drive, as do Xbox1 games (with leaked compatibility partition).

Two other consoles (Jasper 256 and Falcon) also updated to FB .04 with same method and no issues.

Many heartfelt thanks to the teams developing FB and all of the other hacks and tools used...

Now if only Team FreeStyle would release an update...  Can't wait for all the new features they're working on.

Yeah, just pick your options in the Settings portion of launch.ini and make sure the Default line under QuickLaunchButtons has no value.

Excellent. Just installed it. Didn't copy an INI file over at all (left everything as default after installation). Just tried AC:B from a GOD container and it worked perfectly. NXE functioning exactly as stock. Good stuff!

Still having trouble with Fable III.

I installed Dashlaunch v2.05 via USB. Rebooted my system, tried to play a backup disc of Fable III, and I get "unrecognized disc" as the dvd is spinning and trying to load the game.

Am I missing something? Thx

BTW, this disc worked when I had 9199 installed

As far as fable 3 goes, from what I gather the xex flag isn't required for the drive to initiate AP25 - but the flag itself was the issue for AC:B GOD/disk/xex. Probably have to go a lot deeper than a xex flag to remove the actual drive ping-pong challenge/response stuff.

So you're saying dashlaunch 2.05 fixes AC:B (and similar games), but there is not yet a fix for Fable 3?

What I'm saying is Fable 3 does not rely on the AP25 flag to initiate extended disk checks. It could well be a deficiency of current hacked firmwares, a dump that is missing non-trivial data, or simply some more deeper/low level check that is occurring on one of the security files. So to sum it up...

Post by: moeom on November 15, 2010, 10:10:00 PM
Some more info (which is in the thread I referenced above):

This game works for me ONLY if I run it from an EXTERNAL HDD.

I copied my internal HDD Fable directory (which freezes my console on a black screen) to an extrenal HDD and ran it perfectly from there.

This begs the question: does dash launch 2.05 fix Fable III or not (to play via DVD or internal HDD)?

Fable 3 and AC:B both boot fine as a GOD on the new freeboot and dash launch 2.05

As far as I know you are going to need LT+ for AP25 to work on the drive, and quite possibly up to date odd.bin and dae.bin which as far as I know, no one has.

Personally I have to use "activate.iso" to get fable 3 to even recognize on whatever firmware this machine has on the drive, and then it gives a dirty disk error. I used NXE to do disk install right after that, then ran nxe2god, and the game works from there.

So GOD containers and External HDDs work.

Anyone try just ripping the game as files (not GOD) to an internal HDD?

As for the LT drives, I thought the dash launch patched the 360 so it can play this game via DVD....?

Ahhh...that explains some things! My drive is 1.6 non-stealth. Maybe if I update to LT. I don't have any of my tools tho (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Agreed.

 AP 2.5 is actually a new media type but not all AP2.5 games have the restriction flag on the xex (TU's could change that) Fable 3 works great from HDD(on 126111 IF U HAVE THE DASH LAUNCH PATCH) and will work on older dashes without CORRECT patching (I did a tut on this already: Exsio and other PC/Xextool based apps generally do it anyway)

Comment on DL 2.05 : If you want to change patches eg; turn content patch on/off you can't if there is a launch.ini already existing (Even after answering yes to wanting to update)
Can this be amended??

Thanx again awesome app as always BTW/Dan

I don't have this problem... I've run through and put all the options to false, reboot and put them all back to true with no issue - though I admit I've only tried on usb:\\launch.ini

Are you sure you actually changed a setting? It won't save it if you give it the same settings you had before.

What Dash Launch patch enables the AP2.5 games to run from HDD? I can only run them from GOD containers, doesn't boot if ripped from disc to HDD through Freestyle.

That's EXACTLY what I've been saying!!! See here (and some posts above):

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?sho...p;#entry4754038

I can get AP2.5 games, epscifically Fable 3, to work via External HDD and via GOD containers...but never thru DVD or DVD ripped to internal HDD or iso extracted then FTPed to my 360.

Bug in Dashlaunch 2.06, fails to return to NXE?

" note that Right Bumper is ALWAYS default to return NXE" (taken from "info_launch.ini")

This no longer works anywhere for me, it worked fine using Dashlaunch 2.05.
I updated using "freeBOOT" 12611/v0.04(1) (fbBuild 0.11)" before installing dashlauch 2.06.

The only way to return to NXE now seems to be to unplug the USB hdd before powering on so it can't load my default dash (freestyle).

CommentS? Anyone else experiencing this?

my launch.ini looks like this btw;

[QuickLaunchButtons]
BUT_X = Usb:\Freestyle\FreestyleDash.xex
Default = Hdd:\Content\0000000000000000\C0DE9999\00007000\freestyle-usb
[Settings]
nxemini = true
pingpatch = true
