Post by: Midnight Tboy on July 19, 2010, 12:12:00 PM
did post this in the progress thread...but makes more sense to be here smile.gif

Awesome stuff.

So does the alpha still have most features disabled like their original plans were a few weeks back?

Most importantly for me...does it allow you to update game info artwork and trailers from the internet (here's hoping)

at the moment you can download the info and artwork from the internet but it looks like the trailers and screenshots are disabled for this build.

how can i report bugs

seems to me that: http://bugs.teamfsd.com/index.php        is not working properly

whenever i click on report bug, it asks me to select a product, edition and build
but there is nothing to select.....

BUG FOUND (typo): in the Nand Flasher 360 tab, it says write only vaild Data.......quite obvious its valid

yeh i wasn't too sure about that either...

[BUG] file manager, down the bottom says "exit scene" should just be "exit".

@Midnight Tboy: It looks like most features are disabled, yes.

I haven't been able to get FSD itself to see my GOD containers or other games. and it's hard freezing whenever I try to view saves or Xbox Originals. I don't know what's causing this and am still troubleshooting those problems. Never mind. Stubberzz corrected me.  It was a simple mistake.

oh well....at least if it still downloads artwork and box cover that is still a good thing.

I hope it can also handle multiple usb drives (with the XML stored on the main 360 hdd) properly.

As on the older FSD, I have 2 main xbox usb hdd's loaded with games.  If I have it set correctly with artwork etc for one hdd, but when I swap the hdd over, it loses all the main dvd cover info.

The info and pictures are still physically on the main hdd...but its like the xml has got confused at what to look for.  But oddly preview files and the background artwork still displays...just no cover nor screenshots.  And of course when I put the previous USB drive back it is still messed up and the only way to get it displaying properly is to resave the XML with fsdindexer

Only 3 of the games on my HDD are showing up. RE5 and MW2, along with others, don't show up in the games list. Anybody else having this problem? I'm befuddled.
Title: Fsd 2.0 Release
Post by: jrx09 on July 19, 2010, 01:11:00 PM
Yeah I'm having problems where it will only show a couple of games from my internal HDD in the Xbox 360 games tab; not the ones on my USB or even all the ones on my internal HDD. Then if I exit the games tab and re-enter it suddenly they all appear. Then I play a game, come back to FSD and boom, they've disappeared again...

XBLA games show up fine consistently.

Is the fan speed control disabled in this release as a lot of us feared? Does it work on XBR3 or does it require freeboot.

Will look forward to seeing a dashlaunch version for this.
Title: Fsd 2.0 Release
Post by: Aldanga on July 19, 2010, 01:18:00 PM
Fan speed control is presently disabled. I can't test XBR as all my boxes are freeBOOT, but I don't suspect it's enabled on any dash.

It can see my games fine but for some reason it kept putting "Bioshock 2, Call Of Duty 4, Halo 3: ODST, Mirror's Edge" in the homebrew folder I had to edit the fsd2content.xml file myself to get them to post in the games folder. Only other thing I notice is I don't have the status bar.

to get fan at 100% i have to go to FSD 1.20 then into 2.0. that way works...
but.. i would like this in 2.0 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

temperatures rising a lot in FSD 2.0 just sitting idle on the dash.
you can check by pressing the back button.
maybe its just me?

i also dont see the statusbar (no rss, no ip, no temps, no hdd info, no contantscanning info....)

anyone knows what formats the video and audioplayer support ?
does the video / audio contant have to be in a specific folder?

editing hdd1\launch.ini with ftp causes fsd2 to post a crash message and does not change/update the file

atm FSD 1.20 is better (covers, videos, fansettings, better skins)

i hope someone soon makes a cool skin, FSD1.20 aqauatica still my favortiy (the "Sexy" skin was also cool but have no version for 1.20)
that nxe skin is really ugly (at least better than MS orig NXE...)

I used the old fantools with patcher to flash my speed back, works just fine with fsd2. Got fsd2 set to auto launch with dashlaunch I'm all set, I really like the new skinning options and all.

Thats odd they didnt pt the fan speed into the alpha. Its a very important thing to alot of people with older xbox like myself (who is actually fixing 3rrod on his machine right now >_> )

That might happen if you patched the games, they will read as devkit. You can prevent this manuall editing
by setting <path retail='360' devkit='360'>hdd1:\whatever</path>
you will have to delete the fsd2content.xml to let it rescan.

oh well had a chance to put this on, seamed good set my locale to en-UK but I dont get any cover art etc for my games etc. Maybe it needs different areas setting.

I just made a quickboot shortcut for this but I dont have the fsd png icon does anyone have it someplace?

last of all has anyone tried to use this with dash launch yet? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

seems to have major problems listing things for me too. i am currently autosorting. going to try forcing all folders and see if it makes a difference. i currently have 321 arcade games and a few are definately not showing up. eg trials hd. emulators get autosorted to homebrew but obviously thats why the example is there for editing your fsd2content.xml. is there a path to enter for videos? i cant get mine to show yet.

On first launch of FSD2 it asks you whether you want to save to HDD or USB, and further adds that if you save to HDD you have to use the content indexer over FTP.

Does this method use a program like FSD 1.2 that just hasnt been included yet? Or is there another method of getting covers etc over FTP that I'm missing?

Thanks Team FSD for releasing the Alpha for us to all try out.  Obviously this is just for testing purposes and no one should even consider using this as a replacement dash until it goes beta at the very least.

Again, this is an alpha guys.. you will find issues and bugs.  I used it for 5 minutes and messed up the custom dash to have just black letters on a black background.

It's fantastic to see the potential that this dash will have when finished.  Very impressed!

Until this is changed I'm not using it, nor donating anymore. I understand you worked hard to release this program, but some of us have 2 consoles and enjoy acquiring achievements and avatar awards on both.

Maybe you don't understand why we care, but this will make a lot of people angry. I'm very disappointed at this choice. I'd go as far as to PAY for a version without this 'feature'

I'm not sure of the motive in this choice, but I'm sure I speak for the community when I say this is very big letdown.

DimmuJed your not the only one ive seen talking about this.. so you use the same gamertag on both ur jtag and the live xbox.. how is it that your jtag has not been banned? obviously for your achievements to show up from your jtag to your live xbox or visa versa your jtag has to log into xbox live.. does getting banned not block you from just signing in from a banned xbox (ie.. to just update achievements)

or do you just have your profile on a thumb drive you swap back and forth?

This. The JTAG box is never on Live, but the profile is moved to a Live console. Achievements earned on the JTAG transfer normally.

I keep my profile on a memory card for convenience's sake, so when I use it offline on another box (at a friend's house or whatever), I just plug it into my LIVE box and update my GS that way.

Look the image:

I also hold my profile on a memory unit so I can take it about with me when at anyones house.

Would also agree to pay for a version that did not show up in the accounts game history.

Presume this is the same kind of deal as when that Snes emulator came out around new year?  Anyone know if anyones ever actually had a profile ban yet from purely using the emulator on a jtag then connecting it to Live on an unmodded box?

The scan keeps crashing when it hits Lego Indy 2 on my setup.  Does FSD generate a log file or anything to help find out what is causing the crash?

found the log file, here's what it says:

ContentList|FindFileData.cFileName: Lego Indy 2
ContentList|FullFolder = usb0:\Games\Lego Indy 2\

have you ever donated before then, i dont think so?
it was not a concious choise, just a side effect of building a proper xex, so dont have this attitude.
I too use my memcard with live profiles on both xboxes, you can always do like
me and NOT auto-signin at boot but wait till you launch a game.

Well then it's a bug, not a "feature". And it's the fact that they're saying this won't change in final build that's pissing people off. A lot of players out there enjoy playing for achievements, and by having FSD show up in their gamertag history is definitely something that should be fixed, or at the very least release two versions of the thing and give us a choice.

That works for offline profiles, but not LIVE profiles. You must be signed into LIVE to delete a game from an Xbox LIVE account.

Hi everyone,

I am also a user who uses their gamertag on a USB drive and simply swaps it back and forth between a Jtag System and a LIVE Xbox. I now have FSD2.0 added on my gamercard, and I wanted to be clear about a few things.
Will FSD being on my gamercard cause any problems if I sign into LIVE (On a non-modded Xbox. Yes, I know it will go away if I Recover my Account, but I don't want to lose the achievements I've acquired so far.)
If yes, is it possible to remove the gpd from my gamercard so it seems as if I have never played FSD before?

Also, @Mattie, I understand this wasn't an intended problem. I have been intentionally not loading Homebrew that adds to my gamertag. FSD 1.20 didn't add anything, so I had assumed that FSD2.0 would not. I like the fact that it is a proper xex, but I was caught off-guard by this.

That works for offline profiles, but not LIVE profiles. You must be signed into LIVE to delete a game from an Xbox LIVE account.

well sucks to be you then.

I've got a jtag offline and a retail online that I use one profile on with a memory stick. I've had the snes emu icon and awards showing on my online profile since the emu came out without a ban. Guess I'll see if a FSD icon warrants one lol

bah talk about edrama. If you dont like it dont use it thats simple. 1.2 still lets you do what you want, xexmenu, and other emulators also show up on it. At the end of the day you should be keeping your JTAG stuff seperate from your online stuff if you are worried. A lot of people do have their homebrew stuff on their tags and are safe.

You never know you could just edit the profile and drop the entries you don't like. TeamFSD may well do something to address it, they may well not ether way its up to them and their program, I've yet to see pissy post's about xexmenu etc. If you don't want to use it because of this you are no worst off than you were yesterday.

seems like the config file has fanspeed set to 40... that could be something that might be causing the temperature rise.

I always use auto on my falcon, it has never failed.

You should change that 40 to 80 or something and let us know if the fan speed infact changed.

Cheers!

Edit: For some reason, forcing directory to a category is not working for me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) it will just not show at all.
And huge glitch on the Xbox1 Game icons... they somehow show all the same, or switch around, or just freeze the xbox and soft reset and such.

Actually no, you can't. You have to be logged into Live to delete 0 score games.

its not a bug, its just a proper xex, any homebrew that will add recourses to it will show up in your list

it was not a concious choise, just a side effect of building a proper xex, so dont have this attitude.
I too use my memcard with live profiles on both xboxes, you can always do like
me and NOT auto-signin at boot but wait till you launch a game.
it doesnt do shit, and as soon as you do recover gamertag it'll not be in there anymore

Recovering the gamertag would defeat the purpose, as the offline achievements you earned would not be in the gamerscore that you're recovering.

I think Mattie's referring to recovering your GT after connecting to LIVE with homebrew games on your gamertag. They don't recover, so his point is that they won't affect your LIVE account in any way. Whether or not that is the case is another story.

That might be a ntp issue, start fsd without network plugged in, if it launches, disable ntp in the
settings, and restart with cable.
Its most likely the ntp server assigned to you by the ntp pool

In the future, I will take your suggestion of not loading my GT until the game is started.

To everyone who is inevitably going to bitch at people who are upset that it was added to their gamertag, SHUT UP...this wasn't something we knew about, as it wasn't in the readme. I read the readme first, for just this reason (I had issue with the Snes Emu, and as such, have never used it).

Now, for those in my boat, who now have this in their gamertag, does anyone know how to get rid of it?

HUGE props to team FSD, sadly, I won't be using 2.0 either, due to the gamertag issue...HOWEVER, it is unbelievably awesome...way more polished than I expected the ALPHA release to be!

@Bladewing - That wasn't my screenshot, I was answering someone else's question...my GPU DOES run hot though, at 57

if you're talking about the listing in your profile, try this:

In the solution explorer click on freestyle, select Project->Recources.
Select Configuration Properties -> Xbox 360 Image Conversion.
Remove the 'Additional Sections' entry (F5D20000 = FreestyleDash.spa) and build it.

I'm not 100% sure if that is the solution, but you can try on a dummy profile.

At everyone else, if you just ask instead of threatening us with bs like no more donations
(we havent actually received any at all, so i dont get the 'more') or starting petitions online,
stating how 'angry' you are that this free software we spend hours on doesnt do what
you want, we might just try and help you.

Just leaving this here, someone can add it to the OP if wished, along with a warning of what happens to your profile when you run it.

Try this : to remove the game from your profile . Since the XBL servers dont have the info from you, if you remove it first, it SHOULD be ok. Im going to do this in the morning.

And yes, i red the read me file too. Not a mention of it in there.

I do think it is BS to threaten to not give Donations.

Despite my problems, I did donate $20 USD around 1:45 EST.
I got an email from Paypal stating: "You have initiated a payment for $20.00 USD to [email protected]. This payment will be completed once the recipient has accepted the payment." and it has the date/amount/transaction ID, so I am unsure as to why you've yet to receive it.

I also donated, should be another $25 in there Mattie...anyway guys, it WOULD be great if you ever made a version that didn't show up in the achievement list.

While I'm on the subject, this is what the instructions are to remove a game from the achievement list:

Step 1: Extract profile from hard drive or mu.

Step 2: Open profile in HxD.

Step 3: Open Gamerpic injector 2.0(search for game you want to remove, and copy the game id).

Step 4: Search in HxD for the game id under hex values and replace every instance of it with
"00 00 00 00".

Step 5: Save the profile.

Step 6: Open Hash Block Calculator and open your profile, point to tools then click calculate hash blocks.

Step 7: Inject profile back onto your hard drive or mu.

Step 8: Place hard drive or mu back onto the xbox.

Step 9: Load up the dash board, go to your game history and highlight the game you want removed. You will see the achievement icon continuosly flashing. You will also notice a new option down at the bottom now, which says (X)remove game history.

Step 10: Press (X) and continue, congratulations you have removed that embarrasing game from your profile!

(posted from Se7enSins)

Anyway, I have no idea how to extract my profile OR what HxD is...can anyone shed any more light on this for me please...I may just be being stupid here, but I'm lost.

Nothing is 100% safe but no one is sure that they will ever ban for this. In your gamertag adding achivments from a jtag looks the same as adding from a live console. There is no difference except that it does not show a earned date. It does look the same if you are not connected to live. This all might change in the future but your acting like you have inside information. smile.gif Plus to ban for it they have to be 100% sure that you are pirating games. They just dont ban people for having offline achivments.

Either way great work to the whole team and I was just wondering if anyone knows how to get this project building in visual studio 2005 as I dont have the updated xdk?????????

No, I'm simply acting on logic and common sense - clearly qualities anybody who'd use the same profile for Live & JTAG seem to be in short supply of. You're again going solely on what is physically shown on a gamer-tag; you don't *know* what other information is gathered or recorded by the gamertag. Heck, they could sneak out an update to your gamer-tag at any time that tells it to record the last 5/10/20 xex's it launched and report back next time it's connected to live. You have a JTAG console; you have it good - don't push your luck. Cheating on gamerscore is like cheating at solitaire.

Fair, but also when they ban modded dvd drives they only ban the console not the gamertag. You could take your gamertag over to a freind that has a jtag. I dont think they would ban over that. Either way not trying to start an argument because your logic is sound. And your last sentence was golden, made me lol.

Cerise, why couldn't the developers leave that determination to the users...give the users freedom, and if they get banned, they knew the risks. It may or may not be safe...we already know this, and take what precautions we can.

I agree they can choose what do do...I'm not saying I don't support them, hell, I'm a donator...BUT, I won't be using 2.0, unfortunately (unless they change this). I'm not saying they have to...I'm not even bitching. What I am saying is that they COULD allow the user to take their Xbox LIVE safety into their OWN hands.

Either way, we've beat this to death. You ARE right, they haven't done anything wrong by leaving it the way it is, and they have already stated that it will not change.

Just as a side note I took my brothers online profile and made a backup. Ran freestyle dash 1.2 and did everything but start a game. Took the profile and comapred it with the original backup in a hex editor and they were the same. So as of right now they do not track programs that you are running unless the program tells it to write to the profile. Does not mean that wont change later.

Clearly you don't understand the point of donations; the idea is that the person donating decides whether or not they want to give money for whatever reasons this may have. It's kinda like "if you take this software in a direction I'm happy with, I will give you money", and you're arguing that instead one should say "Well, I don't want my profile banned, so I've decided not to mess with FSD yet to be safe, but take my money anyway, even though I won't be using the program"....

Yes, but nobody's talking about cheating on gamerscore. Playing a retail game offline is not the same as cheating. Piracy is still against the law, as well as XS rules, so I'm assuming that the other people with the same complaint I have (about jtag system setting up a GT for potential ban, etc), actually own the games they play on their jtag system (just because we like homebrew does not suddenly make us pirates - or are you implying that because FSD might be illegal because it was developed with XDK without a proper license that that makes us pirates, and therefore strips us from our right to fully enjoy what our games we paid for have to offer us, simply because FSD is not licensed w/ MS?).

I understand that nobody wants to help the live cheaters out, but remember that they've never needed our help in the first place. GS cheating has been around since before the first fw mod, and people will keep finding ways to cheat their gamerscore that have little to nothing to do with jtag system, while the rest of us who simply want to enjoy our games (and the achievements that come with them) are restricted from doing so.

Why keep honest people honest when it doesn't keep any of the dishonest from being dishonest?

Clearly you don't understand the point of donations; the idea is that the person donating decides whether or not they want to give money for whatever reasons this may have. It's kinda like "if you take this software in a direction I'm happy with, I will give you money", and you're arguing that instead one should say "Well, I don't want my profile banned, so I've decided not to mess with FSD yet to be safe, but take my money anyway, even though I won't be using the program"....

Bravo, I use the same logic with Gun control...it's stupid. The bad guys will always do what they want.

2 ways of doing this

1)Use it, Stop bit*hen about the damn icon, use a offline account or take the risk of getting GT banned/console ban. achievements are overated and useless, enjoy the da*n system and the apps that are out there for it.

2)DONT USE FSD, there no more bit*hing about it now, happy.

If you had read most of the comments on this, the issue here is that no one KNEW that it would go on their Gamertag since 1.20 didn't. Most of us (who care about this issue) will stick with 1.20 or figure out a way to modify the code for 2.0 (which Mattie has graciously given me a solid direction on...just not sure if I will know what I'm doing once I get time to try it out.

No one's bitching about FSD 2.0 itself, it is awesome, and way more polished than I expected the Alpha to be...In fact, if recently played games and favorites were enabled, it would be 100% perfect in my book (aside from the listing in the achievements of course;)  )

We need more information, so you're saying you are using a file explorer from FSD 1.20 or some other dash, selecting the .xex, and it just goes to blank screen?

Thanks so much for this! Absolutely awesome, can't wait for official release. One thing though, I don't quite understand how the paths work. I changed the xml and got it to read all my Xbox 360 Games and Arcade Games but I can't figure out how to get Videos and stuff like that. Any help or a demonstration xml would be great. Thanks again for this wonderful update!

I read this somewhere else, but try disconnecting your network cable and then start fsd 2.0. If that works, i also read that for people with your problem you should disable ntponstart

Sorry but you're quite wrong. I have a legitimate 360 that I use for multiplayer and online things and I have my JTAG that I like to use offline because I don't have to bring my discs back and forth or switch them out, plus I get custom settings like fan speed and neat dashboards like FreeStyle. Achievements are a part of the experience, and whether or not you like them or care about them is irrelevant - this change prevents a portion of the userbase from using these tools and dashboards as fully as they'd like.
Please, tell me how I can better utilize my exploited 360 than the way I am right now.

Major, major props to the FSD team for putting out such an enormous amount of effort for this project. The end result (even in alpha) is unbelievably complex and I have no doubts that it will continue to amaze.

Try downloading it again first, perhaps you had a bad download or transfer. Also, just to be sure, are you copying ALL of the files over from the FSD 2.0 directory (including the skin directory and such)?

Are you sure you're running dashlaunch 1.0? Are you sure dashlaunch is installed correctly? I had a black screen until I set up dashlaunch properly.

Initially I was on dashlaunch 0.2, and it worked when I started the xbox, but not when I exited a game. I then used the toolbox (which is great, btw) 2.4 and ticked the box for dashlaunch. First I ticked the box for dashlaunch on the hdd, and I had the black screen problem, but then I redid it with dashlaunch on the nand, and now it works flawlessly (FSD is on a MS hdd). If I boot with the hdd attached, I go straight into FSD (although I can't exit to the NXE ever, but I don't care about that really). If I do need to boot into NXE (system display settings, etc), I just boot without the hdd attached and it boots to NXE.

I do not care about the GT icon because i do not use my Jtag profile online and i do not care about achievements etc.

I'm slightly worried about the fan speed not being enabled .... I have a hot Xenon.

I will install it tomorrow and give it a try because it is getting late.

A massive thanks to everyone that made this possible and i am looking forward to trying it in the morning.

How about running any amount of unsigned code that you wish, as well as running Linux, developing your own code and apps, and getting to test and help be apart of the debugging process of great homebrew and dashboard alternatives like... well... FSD 2.0.

Hopefully this will give you a better idea of what you can do besides upping your gamerscore on a Live profile that shouldn't even be on jtag in the first place.

You know I was really looking forward to this release and with all the positive things being said about how awesome it was going to be, now I find the same people whining about how a single 'Previously played' icon ruins their whole experience and wont ever touch this dashboard again.

If this is how half the general public acts to the kind release of an ALPHA, as in not the final representation of the code used, to let us get a taste of what the final build will look like then I'll wouldn't be surprised if they don't ever do anything this nice again, and instead make use wait weeks to months for another final build.

If you took the time to read the comments, we're not disappointed in the product, but they have said that they WILL NOT change this. We were not aware of that fact and wanted to remove it from our achievement lists. That is all.

I was and AM excited about FSD 2.0, even though I don't plan on using it. I have also donated to the project. Before you jump down my, or anyone else's throats over this, why don't you head on over and donate (if you haven't already).

Just because I can't use this, I see its value to the community. That is why I support the project and am trying to help people get it up and running on their systems.

HOWEVER, you clearly don't see the point of an ALPHA release. It is to discover FLAWS in programming. Team FSD probably won't change the displaying of it in achievement lists, but they may not have considered this being a problem.

I think it speaks HUGE volumes that being displayed in the achievement list is really the only complaint listed in this thread (save for the fan speed)...it means they have done an excellent job.

I read all the comments up to this point and it is filled with people like me who don't care about the achievement list add on because they keep their live profiles off their jtag/don't care in general and those who find it necessary to boost their gamer score on their jtags. Kinda hard to tell seeing as those people say that they 'love' the product but wont even use it because of that feature.

REALLY? I had no idea, thank you for enlightening me, if you read my post I already said that this was the debugging stage where we would find bugs in the program and report them, but I guess that doesn't count.
I already have a few bugs to submit, which I will do tomorrow as I am tired.

I couldn't care less about the achievements list, but the fan speed I agree on, but this is an easy fix just boot into FSD 1.20 and set your fan speed then boot into FSD 2.0. I also agree that they did an excellent job.

I'm gonna end this here as I don't want to turn this into an argument. If you don't want to use it then that's fine but don't start boycotts of this dash just because you don't like one of its features. This isn't directed towards you in particular Minus I think you've been pretty reasonable in dealing with this, but the general public.

Edit(figured I'd be somehwat helpful in this post):

ploggy use this line in your <paths> directory:
CODE
'replace with emulator directory path'

I can see your ending your paths with '\' mine right now don't and my emulators show up fine, maybe you could try that, also my emulators directory is spelt 'Emulators' I had this same problem(named mine EMULATOR too) and renamed it which seemed to do the trick.

I can't believe that people are actually complaining that their Live profiles are containing recently played data of homebrew apps after they've used it on a JTAGED console, are you serious? Live profiles belong on Live boxes, so use them there, and no where else. Either completely separate your modded console and its profiles from your live box and its profiles to stay safe from a ban, its your own choice and risk to intermingle the two and you should not be forcing or relying on the authors of free homebrew software to insure you are safe on live. That's your problem, not theirs.
People aren't forcing or relying on the coders of different homebrew apps for keeping their profiles safe. Why do you think people decided to not use FSD 2.0? It's about personal responsibility. Sure, we'd like to use certain programs, but it's not the end of the world if we don't.

You say it's fine to not use the app, but that people should stop sharing their opinions on the fact that this appears in the games history. As far as I remember, all previous homebrew, save for Snes360, have not appeared in the game history. There was a small uproar about the achievements back when Snes360 was originally released and it turned a lot of people off toward using it, including myself. Some people really liked the achievements, but some didn't. It wasn't a divisive issue, but a simple difference of taste. I don't think it's wrong for people to express distaste for certain aspects of a program. Feedback is part of being a community. In fact, it's an essential part of the development process. As long as the feedback stays constructive, it is useful. When it becomes destructive is when its value significantly diminishes.

I haven't seen whining abounding in this thread. Sure, there was a single person who took things slightly overboard in his reaction, but most of us have merely expressed our dislike for one aspect of an otherwise stellar program. Mattie has been very gracious in all of this and tried to help people in their attempts to experience FSD 2.0 as well as maintain their game history how they want. His tact and ability to wade through the crap and maintain politeness in his responses is definitely appreciated. A lot of people could take some good lessons from him.

In the end, I won't be using this alpha, but that doesn't mean I don't support TeamFSD's endeavours. They've taken upon themselves a monumental task and produced a great product--even if it isn't entirely finished yet. I say cheers to them and keep up the good work.  smile.gif

AT EVERYONE WHO'S DISCUSSING THE FACT THAT FSD2 SHOWS UP IN PROFILE

First of all, it's not a feature we can enable or disable, we don't write it to the profile.
As soon as a title has the 'executionid' header (which contains the recources for icon/title id/etc)
MS will pick it up, that's just the way the xbox works.

Secondly, people can discuss this however long they want, they won't change other peoples mind.
I just dont like the additude of some of them. Even if I said we won't change it (as of yet), doesn't
mean that I wont help getting rid of it, if i can (and am asked for, instead of threatened to mad.gif).
I use my live tag on my jtag as well, I understand where people are coming from.

So let us all just get along  love.gif and we'll see how or what we can do about this, we're not bad guys  cool.gif.

QUOTE(Mattie @ Jul 19 2010, 11:54 PM) *

its not a bug, its just a proper xex, any homebrew that will add recourses to it will show up in your list

whats so good about your "proper" xex?
imo, the "unproper" xex' floating around seem more safe to use than this.

why are you guys even using SPA data? this isn't a game, why in the hell would a dashboard need this?

everyone: here, take a look at the XLAST file inside the source, this is the file causing it to show up on the game list, all it contains is:

1 xex privilege (can't xextool add this? or isn't there some linker option to use?)
a few localised strings (that are only in english, and could easily be built into the code, or loaded from an XML file)
some properties (don't know much about XLAST files, seems it stores shit like your gamertag?)

none of this is needed (does any other homebrew ever use SPA data? and do they show up?), i don't know why they want to keep this file in there, it's only going to make people not want to use FSD :/

edit: sorry mattie, i didn't see your post before i posted, but the base of what i said still remains, its all unneeded.

Someone earlier was in the same boat, but not sure if he had a Cygnos, and not sure if he cleared it up. Out of curiosity, are you trying to load the Xex, or are you booting straight into it via flashing a patch?

i think that would be me, i dont have a Cygnos but i did have my network cable plugged in, so i will test it without when i get home later this afternoon.

i still cant get it to run, i just get a blank screen

It's NTP thats causing the problem.

Unplug network cable from 360
run FSD2.0
in Settings disable get time from internet

plug cable back in and re-run FSD2 and it should be ok

MS will pick it up, that's just the way the xbox works.

First of all, thanks for FSD2.0.Great job. smile.gif love.gif

About FSD2 shows up profile: Ok, you said is the way xbox works. But I'm curious: So why FSD1.x did not shows in profile ?  uhh.gif

BTW: did you guys fixed already bug website form? I found another one I guess no one report before, at least on this x-s topic...

The solution is simple-

1)  Don't sign in while in FSD, just sign in once you have launched the game you want to play- and sign out before you're done.

2)  If you HAVE to sign in and you don't want it to show up on your gamercard- don't use it.

In either case- there are plenty of people who do not care, and they can continue to enjoy FSD for what it is.

We apologize for not noticing that this does that, mainly cause most of us don't care/ don't use jtag profiles on Live as Mattie previously stated.

This is an alpha version, use at your own risk, as with all alpha software.  Fortunately, the word is out now, so this information is easily available to newcomers and can be avoided if you don't want like it.

In beta, we will place a notice in the readme- (that people hardly ever read) that states this.

Thanks for testing our the software and reporting bugs and I hope everyone enjoys it!

That implies people will be warned but this won't be changed?  If that's the case, I'll never be able to use FSD.  I currently use NXE and move my profile between JTAG and stock for Live play.  If FSD marks my profile in a way NXE doesn't, that sucks, because FSD 2.0 is amazing and beautiful--but it's unfortunately just not worth the risk IMO.

EDIT: I see this has already gotten plenty of attention--didn't mean to pile on.  That's what I get for reading the last page first.

Huzzah, just got around to testing it out and it looks great!  Glad I read the thread first and was able to spare my live profile tho  tongue.gif .  Really surprised at how good it is for an alpha.

To everyone all worried about the dash showing up on the profile, just don't use the alpha.  They may not ever remove those settings but as soon as it's on a final release and they open the source back up "assuming they do" someone will recompile it without im sure, so chilllll.  laugh.gif

For testing purposed, I believe if you start FSD 1.20 first, the fan settings will carry over...I could be wrong, or perhaps FSD 2.0 is currently being "hard" on the CPU and/or GPU as I believe one of the other dashboards originally did.

Anyway, if you haven't tried it, load FSD 2.0 through FSD 1.20 to keep temperatures down while you are checking it out.

Can anyone confirm this?

As soon as a title has the 'executionid' header (which contains the recources for icon/title id/etc)

I would just like to say thank you for this release.  It is a very excellent release.  Amazingly well put together for an alpha.

I too am disappointed with the fact it shows on the profile, but can deal with it.  I appreciate the help and instructions you've given towards trying to make it such that one can compile a build with a less proper 360 xex.  I hope it is considered with the final release to include an official less proper xex.

If an official less proper xex is not included, people need to remember this is open source and someone with the right SDK will likely compile a variant that is a less proper xex given time.  Perhaps they'll just want to wait for a final version instead of an alpha for taking the time to do so.

To all the folks claiming the only reason is for cheating.  Cheating has nothing to do with wanting to play games or use a launcher without needing discs in the drive.  It's nice to be able to play multi-disc games without ever having to switch a disc, or to go from playing an RPG to a shooter when a bit of action is needed to get the blood going.  It's nice to be able to play Oblivion, Fallout 3, Just Cause 2, and many other games with PC mods when one does not own a PC up to the tasks of those games.

The anger, name calling, accusations, and outrageous bull-dung from both sides of this has been rather hilarious and totally unnecessary (yes I read the whole thread).

Again, a big thank you to Mattie and the rest of TeamFSD.

people.. read the whole thread.. those complaining about fan control.. its been posted multiple times in this thread and everywhere else... dont feel like tracking the links down right now.. but look through all the pages here and you will find the links to the fan speed flasher.. its permanent.. flashed mine to 80% when i first got it.. and it runs at 80% the whole time.. i can play games for hours and my temps hardly ever get above 50..

Looks like I might be the only one with an invalid profile. I removed all references the FSD 2.0 from my profile, then used the Xbox 360 hash block calculator on the profile. My brother accidentally deleted my original profile. I can log into the profile just fine on the JTAG still...anything I can use to fix this?

FYI - I haven't ever done any other profile editing, so that is not the issue.

To all the people who are upset about FSD2.0 adding to your profile- why not just clone the profile so it sits on both boxes? If you get an acheevo on the 'tag and you want it added to your Live profile why not just wait until the end of the month or something then 'add' the achievements gained to your live profile?

There are millions of tutorials out there on how to do it, as long as you don't go mad and add 100,000 gs to your score, just the achievements that you have earned I don't see a problem with it.

Got to say thanks for the new dash, for a beta it works realy well and be nice to see when the other points get turned on.

Thought i would just add this little help bit for the noobs out there trying to get it working.

1.Just download the files from there site.
2. Extract FSD2 Alpha.zip and copy it to your apps folder in your 360
3. start the FSD2 xex from your current dash thats installed on your xbox from the apps list (freeboot or xexloader what ever you have)
4. When it starts you will be asked where to save all the cover art etc, hdd or usb
5. FTP to your xbox and edit the fsd2config.xml file in the fsd2data folder on your xbox, Enter your locale in between <locale>en-US</locale> and change the fan speed to 80 or 100
6. Now set where all your data and games are held, with in the path section enter in these details

<path retail='360' devkit=''>usb0:\Games</path>
<path retail='XBLA' devkit=''>usb0:\content\0000000000000000</path>
<path retail='applications' devkit=''>hdd1:\applications</path>

note, if you have data saved different to the above then just edit it to what your xbox has.

7. restart fsd (this can be done by going in Utilities, Settings ->Reload Skin)
8. if all is correct press the back button and you should see the contents being scanned and downloaded at the bottom of the screen.
9. Once scanned check games to see if they are in the right section, if they are not ftp to your xbox and edit the fsd2content.xml located in the fsd2data folder on the hdd or usb depending on where you choose to save it to.
10. in the content.xml file you can edit the game type='?'
0= XBLA
1=360 Games
2=xbox games
3=apps
4=Emus

11. restart freestyle dash and all is done.

Dont forget if your using free boot to add it to the launch.ini file on the hdd of your 360 so that the xbox starts on this dash rather than any other.

You can also edit the skin and colours which is a nice touch.

------------
bug report
------------

As I said I would I am reporting a few bugs that I have been having, I haven't been able to recreate any yet but one of the them the most prevalent is booting back to FSD 2.0a after going back to the dashboard in a game. For instance FSD 1.20->FSD 2.0a->Xbox360 Game->FSD 1.20->FSD 2.0a(but stops at the black screen and freezes until a hard reset.) I don't know if its related or not but sometimes when I select a menu item such as 360 Games or Homebrew it will cause the entire xbox to freeze up and also requires a hard reboot.

The other one is sometimes when I look up the saves of some of my games it does not load the saves menu but has the pop up sound, then freezes.

I have yet to recreate any of these bugs but if I do I will be sure to record them and upload them to youtube if you want, to see what I'm talking about first hand.

-------------------
end of bug report
-------------------

Anyone trying to get the fsdindexer working with FSD2.0a read this:

From what I have observed it seems that fsdindexer does not work with 2.0a over ftp(I have not tried usb) which seems to be why one was not included with the release. To get around this simply run FSD 1.20 and ftp/usb-transfer all the needed content using the 1.20 version of fsdindexer. Then boot to 2.0a and it should have most of the content(box art/descriptions) up, except for screen shots which are disabled in this alpha.

Hope this helps (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

again to you all with the profile shit
before you start whining, you should check your profiles. Just the fact that fsd1.20 didn't SHOW,
doesnt mean its not there. HEX edit the profile and fsd1.20 has been in there all along (FFFF0055),
including xexmenu, emulators, other homebrew, etc.

We have 2.0 working the same as 1.20 now, but they are all still logged in your profile!
Stop bitching NOW

It keeps on crashing for me and I don't know how to make it stop. In the debug.log is nothing interesting apart from the fact that it's scanning for games and retrieving images. After starting FSD2 it shows the crash screen after about 5 seconds.

fsd2config.xml:
CODE

    en-US

        hdd1:\CONTENT\0000000000000000\
        hdd1:\Games\

    Default.xzp

Does anybody has a clue?

Thanks,

Try doing this, make sure your 360's network settings are all set to automatic (when I had it manually set it wouldn't work), plug your network cable into a pc/laptop and do internet connection sharing (again letting it set the ip itself, usually 192.168.0.1), and then give it a try.

well if it doesnt work we like to fix it, the main reason for a pc version is for people that dont use
ethernet on there console.

code for pc indexer will be very simular to build-in indexer, so anything we can fix now
is better for the pc version as well

Thanks but I made sure my 360s setting where automatic when it was connected to my router via the wireless 360 usb adapter and it couldn't connect.

Enabling internet sharing between my 360 and PC(I'm assuming you mean a network bridge?) only results in both of them unable to connect to the internet, I've tried it before and the result is always the same.

Edit: I'll try again mattie just to make sure its not me.(FSD does support usb wireless adapters right?)

No not a network bridge. I don't know if you're using vista but i'll tell you how i do it for my setup:
I go to the network and sharing center, hit view status on my wireless connection, hit properties, hit sharing, and then check allow other network users to connect etc, and then it sets the ethernet port's ip to 192.168.0.1, and then i just did what i said above. No need to bridge the connections.

was doing this to me as well.. so i deleted everything and started over this time not using ANY capitol letters in the folder paths... its ok if there are caps in the actual folders on the drives.. ie mine is usb0:\Games.. but putting usb0:\games in the xml file seemed to clear up my problems..

so make your paths look like this

      <path retail='360' devkit='360'>hdd1:\content\0000000000000000</path>
      <path retail='360' devkit='360'>hdd1:\games</path>

i did notice on irc that some people were claiming they HAD to add the \ to the end of the path.. but i did not.. try both ways

that worked for me.. as thats the ONLY thing i changed from the two times i installed the alpha..  and its been running fine ever since.. should be an easy fix.. either force fsd to read everything as LC or make it change UC to LC when it finds them since it seems to already rearrange the xml as it pleases anyways =P    also if your having black screen issues disable the sync clock at startup option.. seems to give me black screen troubles and fsd not wanting to boot allthe time.. not sure why..

Stop bitching NOW

Ha. This shit is too funny. I cant believe this profile stuff is becoming that big of a deal, especially since the achievements dont really get you anything except stuff to make the avatars look even dumber. I have always thought that the whole achievement thing was a dumb idea to begin with since all those gamerscore points everyone always spends all their time trying to get are not redeemable for anything of value to your gameplay experience. The only thing I think one should try to achieve when playing a game is having fun. That is what playing games is all about. I also think it is absolutely stupid to have any bit of information from your jtagged xbox touch your retail. It is common sense. Keep everything from the 2 xboxes separate and you will NEVER have to worry about anything happening to your retail xbox and gamertag.

So i say to all you children complaining about this achievement stuff, it is your fault for sharing the profile and info to begin with all for the sake of something that in the big picture dosnt matter anyway. You are all ungrateful for what you have, instead of appreciating all you can do with your jtagged xboxs and accepting that you shouldnt share the info between retail and jtagged boxes you spend your time complaining about what is the most impressive piece of homebrew I have seen for the console.

Good job Freestyle team. I hope you keep up the good work. I wish I had not gotten rid of my jtagged xboxs so I could use this beautiful piece of software.

XS may auto merge this but since it has nothing to do with my last post ill try anyways.. has anyone played with the skin and build skins.exe.. there are two option.. build default.. and build Free Xperience.. chosing option 2 outputs a free xperience.zxp file.. thats almost 21mb in size but just black screens when you use it on FSD.. and when you build it open (not zxp) theres nothing there really? prob nothing..

it may have already been found.. and i missed it.. but one of the teamfsd devs mentioned an easter egg on irc yesterday.. so ive been looking around.. nothing yet though.. i was hoping that free xperience skin was it =P

so i am having issues reporting bugs on the fsd website so i will post it on here

{BUG} FSD2.0a set as default on dashlaunch with sys link patch only launches about half of the time the rest of the time the console freezes just after profile sign in and the xbox just sits at the 360 splash screen

BTW to team FSD you guys are amazing the new FSD looks great keep up the awesome work, if you guys ever want an extra hand just let me know i repair and Jtag these things for a living as i am an out of work A+ tech so i have plenty of extra time to help code.

And to all you FSD2.0a haters if you had any idea what goes into writing the apps, dashboard or emulators for these consoles you might have a little more respect instead of acting like a bunch of 3 year olds having a temper tantrum. If one of my kids started acting like that they wouldn't be able to sit for a week lol. i am sure these guys could give half a rats a$$ if you use FSD 2.0a or not. they are going to take the dashboard in the direction that they feel is best personally i think that the step away from live is a great thing. i have been using Xlink kai the last week and i have been having a blast.

Had that with Battlefield Bad Company 2, DiRT 2 and Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising.

You have corrupted xex files- I am working on a fix now to just exclude corrupted xexs like these.  Previously, they were unhandled.

If you could find a way to get me the corrupted files I will take a look at them and make sure something else weird isnt going on.

Opps silly me, sorry mattie and company FSD does support usb wireless adaptors and the content download works fine(and is much faster than fsdindexer)

It seems that I what I had put down for the 360 freezing when I went into the 360 games tab was really the 360 updating the content. I had thought it was a freeze because the controller's guide button did not respond at all and all there was was a black screen. This time I waited for like 10 seconds and the 360 game menu came back with all the content updated. Sorry about the confusion everyone. smile.gif

Might I suggest in future updates you include a status bar instead of a black screen? just so people know their content is updating.

One more thing about updating, I enabled alpha/beta updating and checked for updates and noticed one was available, downloaded it and installed it but really couldn't tell what the changes where, could we get changelog feature in future updates, as well?

Im not sure if this is a bug or not but I noticed that after the update a new Partition had been made on my 360 called 'Game' which contained another version of FSD 2.0a is this behavior supposed to happen and are we supposed to copy and paste the new files into our current FSD2.0a directories?

Sorry for all the questions/requests and great job on the dash. wink.gif

btw, you dont NEED to build the skin, ftp over the folder like in 1.20 will still work(easier when you're

360 flash tools says my opus is a retail falcon 3.0 i used lpt to do the jtag hack i do not have a cygnos and just incase my default for launch.ini is written as Default = LHdd:\FSD2 Alpha\default.xex

oh and i am not sure if it matters or not but i did the 12volt fan mod to it (wire on the bottom of the mobo)

i have a falcon.. somebody mentioned problems with the clock sync so i disabled it and i dont seem to be having the same probs..

i am using a dual nand cygnos v2 but not using the cygnos nand.. just the xbox nand... maybe those having probs are using a cygnos.. though i wouldnt think thats the prob.. once the jtag hack is done its done and im using the 360's nand.. but i dunno..

people with freezing boot or freezing returning to FSD from games post up your board revisions as well as hardware used to read/write nand and jtag hack, if you have syslink patch.. where your launch.ini is (nand/hdd/usb) etc..

First off, 2.0 is incredible, great work! I've just started using it tonight and I love it.

I figured that the title id would show in the profile regardless of whether it was in the previously played list or not. So I don't log into the profile until after I've loaded the game from freestyle, works fine and it's kept it off my profile.

Before I get flamed here, I'm not complaining and this is just a suggestion.
Would it work to just give FSD 2.0 the same hex Title ID as something harmless, like an arcade game? That way it'd show on the profile, but it would just look like you'd played a normal game.
(It'd also make someone's arcade game look extremely popular on live tongue.gif )

Ya, I'd guess most people have 1.20 on their profile. Even if they don't they probably have some other random homebrew app on there so they're screwed either way.
I don't see how microsoft could ban a console based on the information though, as the profile could be used to sign in on an unmodified console. Maybe a gamerscore reset or profile ban, which isn't too bad. Either way we'll find out eventually, seeing as they love doing everything in waves.

I'll try building it with something else's title ID if I can ever get a 9xxx version of the SDK. I'm finding it impossible to lay my hands on (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

And again, thanks for 2.0, it's awesome.

is there any way to change it to scan for avi files instead and if so could you use usb:\*.avi ?

Right now the video player only supports Constant Bit Rate wmv videos

It keeps on crashing for me and I don't know how to make it stop. In the debug.log is nothing interesting apart from the fact that it's scanning for games and retrieving images. After starting FSD2 it shows the crash screen after about 5 seconds.

fsd2config.xml:
CODE

    en-US

        hdd1:\CONTENT\0000000000000000\
        hdd1:\Games\

    Default.xzp

Does anybody has a clue?

Thanks,

Dennis

i have exact same problem. after each crash a new game is added to the games menu.

seems to have major problems listing things for me too. i am currently autosorting. going to try forcing all folders and see if it makes a difference. i currently have 321 arcade games and a few are definately not showing up. eg trials hd. emulators get autosorted to homebrew but obviously thats why the example is there for editing your fsd2content.xml. is there a path to enter for videos? i cant get mine to show yet.
yeah, change your launch.ini to direct to the correct folder. seems to be too many problems for me so far though, going to change back to 1.20 until im happy with 2.0

I have the same problem. Trials HD and Marble Madness show up in FSD1 but do not in FSD2.

The scan keeps crashing when it hits Lego Indy 2 on my setup.  Does FSD generate a log file or anything to help find out what is causing the crash?

found the log file, here's what it says:

ContentList|FindFileData.cFileName: Lego Indy 2
ContentList|FullFolder = usb0:\Games\Lego Indy 2\
ContentItem|CreateContentItem(pFolder = 'usb0:\Games\Lego Indy 2\', pDepth = 0)

I got the same thing going on here. MaesterRowen suggested it has to do with corrupted xexes (even though they work), so I'll try reripping the games and I'll post the results.

Especially since people are NOT getting banned for those tiny markers for FSD on their gamercard. only the ones with icons.

Anyway, loving it, but i have a tiny bug.

Despite the fact i have changed the directory for 3 games, and told it to place it in the Xbox games list, they still appear in the XBLA section. Anyone ?

press back as soon as you can,see what games craches and remove it from your hdd(or just the xex to spare time)
you do the same with the next ones,it doesnt do it with all the games, just a few.

when it crashes the game is diplayed wich is being scanned at the moment it crashes, you have to remove that one and reboot.

i don't know the reason why this happens, but i'm shure its being looked into,as ive seen others talking about this bug, mainly with battlefield bad company 2

Hi,

Wondering if this tiny problem can be fixed...

I tried editing MenuSettings.xml so that the <tab id='5' parentid='0' text='Xbox Classic'> paragraph would appear before <tab id='4' parentid='0' text='Homebrew'> and intechanged the tab id values so that Xbox Classic would appear before Homebrew.  It worked, but when I go to Xbox Classic, it displays the submenu from Homebrew and vice-versa.

Anybody found a solution for this?

Thanx for FSD 2  pop.gif

Hi Guys
The Dash is awesome!!!. I'm also getting crashes with Mass Effect2 but deleted it and all is fine. Now to get the Video files detected. I made a video folder on my HDD and chucked in a few gametrailers in wmv format but no luck yet. Can anyone shed some light on this? Also does anyone know if there are any alternate skins available and where? spiffy360 doesnt have any. One more thing is that ftp really crawls for me in passive mode with Transmit on my mac. Freestyle 1.20 worked fine in active mode with the same ftp client? Which client will work best for me on osx- Can anyone help?

Just so people know, if you recover your live profile all the homebrew id's and everything else associated with them well be removed from your profile. This is for the people that care if they have this stuff in there profile.

That is correct, I dont have a jtagged xbox anymore. I had 2 with cygnos 2 chips in them but had to get rid of them cause I ran into hard times, which is totally irrelevant to the whole gamerscore/profile sharing conversation. Definately dosnt take Stephen Hawking to realize if you cared about M$ "catching" you, you completely segregate the info between the 2 xboxs and there would be no way M$ could ever find out, ever. I just find it very confusing how one could say they "care' about their profile so much but use it on a jtagged xbox. Absolutely stupid.

go into utilies, settings and click check for updates, if it says 0 updates found means connection is fine, otherwise if it spits out an error then no connection found,if using router have your 360 on auto settings for network

Problems I am having (yes, I logged the ones I didn't see at the bug report place, kind of, probably, I think)

While in File Manager, (X) Button is labeled: (X) Exit Scene (should scene be there)

If you put the date and time in long format (Wed, 21 Jul, 2010 11:05:43 PM) they run together.

While Dash is loading XML or Scanning in background on boot, going to any game list causes icons to flicker, and then FSD to crash.

"Favourites" is the en-UK spelling.  "Favorites" is the en-US spelling.

Ski Doo Challenge - Game name shows up as 564707D1.

Sonic Adventure  - Game has 5841025 for the publisher instead of SEGA.

Silent Hill Homecoming - Game has TWO lines for Publisher, causing one to be cut off.

Dragon Age Origins: Awakening - Game is showing up as Dragon Age Origins.

GTA IV: Episodes of Liberty City - Game is showing up as GTA IV

HALO 3: ODST Multiplayer Disc - Game is sowing up as HALO 3.

Asian characters not showing up properly for games.

Games missing Box Art:
Big Bumpin
DBZ: Burst Limit
Death Smilies 2
FEAR Files
Hot Wheels: Beat That!
MorphX
Pocketbike Racer
Rockband Track Pack 2
Rock Revolution
Samurai Spirits Sen
SBK
Scene It?
Sneak King
Spectral Force 3
World Series of Poker 2008
Cyber Ball 2072
Defender
Double Dragon
Gauntlet
Joust
Lost Cities
Root Beer Tapper
Smash TV
Sonic Adventure
Speed Ball 2
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
Wolfenstien 3D
Yaris

The reason I am listing the games with missing box art is because on FSD 1.20, indexer found (and still does) box art for almost all of those games on its own.
If I forgot some of these problems when I logged the bug reports, I'm sorry.  I was half a sleep and didn't want to make duplicates if they were already listed.

whats so good about your "proper" xex?
imo, the "unproper" xex' floating around seem more safe to use than this.

why are you guys even using SPA data? this isn't a game, why in the hell would a dashboard need this?

I hate to get drawn into this somewhat silly discussion about the profile (it's not like it adds dummy chevos like Snes360 that get u insta-banned) BUT I would PREFER to have it on there as:
A: It allows me to use the shortcut on the recent list (saving the time it takes to load the all games category when booting from NXE - If ur using dashlaunch it wouldn't even come into play) and
B: It doesn't affect ur online profile (I swap btwn my Jtag and online boxes every day and if they were going to introduce a ban policy for those who have been on a Jtag then there are more sneaky ways for them to detect that stuff - besides which there's the moral issue (Ie; I went to a friends house and didn't know his console was Jtag etc...) Lately you may have noticed half their new ideas have been lifted from homebrew - If they wanted to crush us they couldf easily but one imagines they would start by banning GT's that have hosted 20 modded lobbys in a row etc..first   (all that waste of KV stuff - such a waste ;-) There's only a finite amount of Jtag's left , I think their bean counters have factored all that in and the cost etc.. of banning GT's in lost revenue, call centre time and all the other cons out-wiegh their pros, plus they would have to do the development and market reseach themselves for all the stuff they rip-off homebrew

people.. read the whole thread.. those complaining about fan control.. its been posted multiple times in this thread and everywhere else... dont feel like tracking the links down right now.. but look through all the pages here and you will find the links to the fan speed flasher.. its permanent.. flashed mine to 80% when i first got it.. and it runs at 80% the whole time.. i can play games for hours and my temps hardly ever get above 50..

Yes but not all of us want to give-up PWM proportional control for normal gaming etc.. Some fans (particularly after-market) can be very noisy
I've always though one of the stand-out things regarding FSD was always the LED temp/Fan control

As of today, I get an invalid profile error. I have tried both a backup copy of the profile from before trying to remove FSD 2.0, and the profile where FSD 2.0 was removed...no joy.  Anyone else?

Sounds like you might be on an early version of freeboot and/or have a dummy KV

On another note I'm still having issues getting it to pick up stuff on the USB...
Also why don't skins apply??? (or is that just me??)

Brgds/Dan

PS:Sorry to add to the profile bs spam but I had to be heard on that one ....

EDIT: I still have nothing showing up - no games,XBLA,Emu's or ANYTHING!! I'm sure it has to be some sort of noob mistake but it's unusual.... I will keep looking....

@All -

Many thanks to Mattie and others, for not only telling me how it is, but giving me enough information to see for myself that ALL homebrew will reside in your Gamertag. I have verified this by extracting the contents of my profile, and seeing several instances of homebrew.

This means that Microsoft can absolutely see (if they want to) what homebrew activities you have been partaking in.

I, for one, will no longer be going back and forth with my live profile...one for JTAG and one for Live from now on.

Sorry for harping on this so much and for so long. I didn't mean to hijack the thread.

Hey all I have a question about background music in FSD 2.0a, I heard that it was a feature in this alpha but have not found anyway to enable it or get it to work. I have gotten my mp3s to show in the Music tab but thats about it.

Also I have another bug to report:

When searching through folders with many files, such as Mass Effect 2, the sound for the entire dash disappears completely and requires the dash to be reset.

I tried to report it at http://bugs.teamfsd.com/, my account name is redringofbox btw,  but it didn't show up in the bugs directory. Anyways here is a video of it happening:

They just don't show, or does it actually crash?
Or do they show up in the homebrew tab?

PM me if you like to get this sorted

I'm thinking that what might have got you IS deleting this from the history...at that point MS might notice it. Also, check again to make sure you're still banned. I thought I was, but tried logging in again a few hours later, and while it took a long time to log in, it eventually did.

You were warned. And deleting your history *after* login is just silly - once you login they already know. This is also the case with ALL homebrew. Why are you using the same gamertag for live and JTAG? Where's your common sense at? :\

would be nice to know extra info about the ban too

Like how long was it before since he'd last signed on - and whether he'd likely played any early release reviewer copy games and such (like happed with Forza wasn't it.  And what other stuff he'd ran with his profile

come to think of it - what actually happens when get a profile ban?  Can you even sign in using that profile offline still?  Achievement points still list etc if so?

he never said he connected the jtag to live - only implied the profile.

But he's a new poster with only 9 posts...so unless anyone else who tends to frequently switch profiles confirms a ban also I'd take it with a pinch of salt

Denial isn't just a river in Egypt.

You sure love to spread FUD, Cerise. Nothing has been confirmed here. All that's been said is a guy from Poland claims his Gamertag was banned. That's it. No other reports, no other claims. He gave no history of possible tampering with his gamertag or his habits otherwise. Jumping to conclusions won't help anyone in this case.

But this discussion doesn't really belong in this thread anyway. This thread is for FSD 2.0a. So I'm bowing out if this discussion continues.

I've never connected my jtag to LIVE. I had my profile on memory card and I was swaping it from jtag console and live console. I was never messing with my profile.

I can login to profile offline and my GS is still there but I can't login to live. The first symptom that something is wrong was that message on mygamercard.net:

"MGC Note:

We are missing game data totaling 14705 GamerScore.
This can be corrected by simply booting games not shown in this list."

After 2 days my profile get banned.

I know, I was warned and I can only blame my self. There's no reason for me to lie or something like that. I just want to warn everybody that this is real deal and DO NOT login with you live profile in to fsd 2.0

this is a strange one iv never had this issue I'm always swapping between jtag and retail via mem card i have banned xbl on my jtagged so i don't accidentally connect i don't agree with that but on the other hand any scores that are erned on a jtag are still legitimate earnings regardless if its a copy or not you still have put the effort in earning them

i don't agrees with modded consoles to be allowed on live its unfair to others but as long as the rules are played by ie do not used any modded console on live your fine regardless of whats added to your GT iv got FSD on mine and its not affected me things like snes emu that add achievement's to your list is stupid because there fake so can result in a ban

play by the rules and you be all OK
ie
no fake achievement's
no modded drives to play copies on live
no jtagged consoles on live

the main 3 i abide by

That how it was, so? that doesn't change the fact my profile was banned. Strange fact is that I can still login to my profile on xbox.com

This subject has been beaten to death SO much it IS funny again, I'll say it one more time: "Keep your live profiles and xbox's separate from your jtagged/modded xboxs if you want to stay safe from a ban. You did not and now you are banned."

Had you not used your live account on your jtag then gotten banned we could be more speculative as to why, you did however, and there are too many variables to go through to even try to find out why. It could be because of the homebrew showing up, GS modding, or just generally being abusive to others on XBL, or any other myriad of reasons and here is not the place to discuss them.

That thing about every homebrew leaving something in you profile came up when fsd 2.0 was released.

And to clear things up. I'm not the only one that was using live profile on jtag console.

i could f$%king scream...........

let me start by saying thanks very much for taking the time to create such a nice looking launcher BUT
after trying now various different wys of loading my GODS, EMUS and other stuff all i keep getting is

error with 3 options

1. reload FSD
2. back to NXE
3. try to continue

every time, no matter what way i change the config.xml

i have tried copying peoples .xml from this forum topic and have even tried editing it so that it looks in the right place but still to no avail.....

below are the locations of the games n roms, if someone can help i would be greatful smile.gif

GODS @ usb0/content/0000000000000000

MAME360.exe & SNES.exe @ hdd1/EMUS/ ( both folders are in here )

like i said b4 i cant stress how much and how many different ways ive tried this now for it only to give me an error message then reboot sad.gif

FSD1.20 works great now peoblems and was easy to setup up, this is whats frustrating as i cant see where im going wrong

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

forgot to add that on first install FSD 2.0 I point it at my usb HDD

I misread it the first time. It will always find the retail and the non-retail (devkit) titles.
The attribute only forces whatever it finds to a specific tab in fsd.
So <path retail="360" devkit="EMULATOR">usb0:\games</path> will put everything with a retail
signature in the 360 game list, and everything with a non-retail signature in the emulator list.

The two games that show up as homebrew are in my "hdd1:\Games" folder. Thing is that i have another game there that shows up like it should under 360-games.

This may have been covered earlier in this thread and I overlooked it, OR it could have been after half way through when I got sick of people bitching about gamerscore crap and jumped to the end.

I can't get the temp to display.  I know you press the back button,  and nothing happens when I press it.  Am I missing something?

If u have updated fsd2 alpha since its release u have to press the right thumb stick down to get it to show temperatures.

As far as the FSD2 dash goes love it, its great how it's got the auto update feature and downloads coverart etc.. What would be another great feature would be some sort of parental control so you could lockout certain tabs for instance the Homebrew tab, where i have dashlaunch flasher, nxe2god and xexmenu. or the settings tabs, nand and filemanager tabs.

I'd need some more info, like your content xml, and a log from the actual scanninig, because having '360' in the games path should already solve your problem (if you did that afterwards, you should rescan -> Utilities, Settings, 2nd tab, clear data or something)

Not sure where to post FSD2 related questions/requests, since there are two newer topics about it.

But how about a utility that erases all of your unnecessary save data? For example, you install and erase games/apps, but you still have their save data in content\0000000000000000 folder (and also in fsd2data/GameData folder).
It's not really a problem, since they are near zero in size, but it would still be nice to get rid of them, you know :]

And yes, you can manualy erase them, but sometimes they have unrelated names, so you can't find them.

Use NXE. It does this wonderfully.

is there a way to manually up date the list after we remove it from the config? Or will we have to re add it everytime we add games, update, etc?

yes that's a thing I don't like in fsd 2.0. In fsd 1.x you had the scanning at the beginning which was much faster than the scanning now. I think it has something to do with the auto image fetching and so on.

Would be nice if they could make it faster and indicate that it's still scanning. It's really annoying to wait press A ("not finished scanning") and hitting it regularly again until it works.
A better way would be to give access to the game list while still scanning. If a new game was found you could then update the list or tell the person that new games (or information in any form) are available and he needs to go in the list again to see them ... something like that.

You would have to re add them. There isn't much anything else you can do to stop it scanning. Hopefully they will have another release soon that is faster.

Remove the paths from your config.xml after it scans once.

Thank you! It's still a little slow loading the XML file, but it's a little more tolerable.

I was thinking about that while waiting for it to load. It would be a nice feature/option to be able to manually update your content file from the settings menu or something.

All the slow scanning issues have been fixed in the latest builds. Next release is no less than ~a month away, but the wait should be worth it.

is there a way to make a freestyledash bootable disc?

like how original xbox had "xiso" to create bootable iso from raw contents/files.

Seems to me the easiest way around the scanning issue is just to make it manual.  Add a button that the user has to push if they want to start a scan, and don't have it start automatically.   Problem solved biggrin.gif
