Helldoc just updated his blog here stating that a Freestyle Dash 2.0 Alpha should be released in the next 2-3 days:
http://helldoc.blogs...till-alive.html
QUOTE
So sorry for lack of recent updates... As with every other members of team fsd, we've been busy as hell with our day life...
FSD 2.0 project is still alive even thought its been a while since it has not been updated. I'm currently starting cleanup work to get a fonctionnal version out.
I think this lack of updates was also due to some lack of communication between the team... Some weeks ago we were really near of an alpha release, like 2-3 days. Only some minor gui works was left to be done. Then we all started doing some need things we thought well be usefull and the whole thing started crumbling and seems like nobody wanted to take the time to fix it.
In the next few days, i'll try to get a clean, fully working build that you all can use.
This build will probably have every extra features off or non-fully fonctionnal but it will list games in a neat way and run them properly.
Regards,
HellDoc

I think if you read his post he is saying that two weeks ago they were gonna release an alpha build in 2-3 days.
I dont think that means it will be out in 2-3 days.

I am very excited for it as well. I am hoping with this being released it might push forward the homebrew scene a little bit. Gotta find ways to get more talented coders in developing homebrew for the 360. I am also hoping that a new version of freeboot will come out soon as well with a solid Dashlaunch 1.0 integration in it so I can set it to only boot with freestyle dash 2.0.

Idk yet , waiting to see what it has already.
I might take some feedback from people IF teamFSD does not cotinue development.
I might not be the best coder in the world but I do it for a living. C# for 2 years and C++ for one year, asp.net web site mostly and some windows apps. Plus I dont have a dev kit.
But it could be fun to see what I can add to it.

Haha, I just saw FreeStyle Dash 2.0 in the headline and almost pissed myself, only to find it was an update...I'm 30 years old for God's Sake.
While it may not be 2-3 days, I think it will be under a week based on the comments from HellDoc.

If this is the case, than it's more like releasing NXE skin with color edit.
If Mplayer port is not in this release, than we don't need FSD2.0 to be released yet, it's like FSD 1.20... but with a 2.0 at the end (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)
Seriously, if something gets released, it should have new stuff to it, not what we already have. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)
I say, just take more months if you need to finish it, release it for Christmas if necessary, but don't release something hyped with nothing new (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

You are clearly missing one major benefit, even if it is just FSD 2.0 which I think it'll be much better than, but feedback from a large group.
Regardless, this comment could've been withheld...if you don't want an Alpha release, don't download it.

gosh no matter what this team does people complain...I appreciate their efforts I am happy with any jtag software (and any updates to them) i understand it is someones blood sweat and tears that goes into stuff like this...such exciting times soon n64 and fba and this was great new i personally am enjoying the heck out of xdesk on 1.20....

Simple as that.

I think its safe to say most who are anxiously waiting FSD2.0 arrival are not kiddies and are simply hyped at any new software or updates that come out for their Jtag. Im keeping my mates box until this comes out before i'll give him it lol - he'll appreciate it more!
Thanks for the update HellDoc and your efforts are def worth it

one thing im really concerned with is full media support, once we have that to put a nice media center gui to put on it ill be happy for the rest of the year!

all i care about is the indexer working. the current indexer is completely useless on the pc. it seems it times out and crashes because of this instead of just timing out.

Yeah I'm gonna do the Homer simpson and put myself in a sleeper hold untill it comes -out, I too saw the headline and blew my load only to find (after trying to download it without having read anything more than FSD 2.0 and looking at the Mplayer screen shot) That I had to wait: Noooooooooooo
I guess JTAG is just that good.. I even rang a couple of friends and said Dude, guess what... FSD 2.0 is out !!!! I'll bring a copy around in half an hour .. So even they were dissapointed... Such an anti-climax.. Reduced to child-like xmas morning state like other posts.. Oh well If the sleeper hold doesnt last more than a few hours I guess I could try another Homer trick :Chloroform

What exactly is the problem you have with the indexer? I know it isn't a great piece of software but it works just fine for me , my games all show up and play , my homebrew shows up , and you can hand modify the XML file to change the location of things if you want to. And it always downloads the screenshots and info when available for the game in question.
I never read all the updates did they get the controller syncing issue resolved? I know that it isn't a problem on XexMenu but i don't like Xexmenu at all.

QUOTE(Jurai @ Jun 17 2010, 10:23 AM)

I think he was referring to Dashlaunch's ability to boot you back into a homebrew dash from the guide button, which requires you to have latest freeboot installed. Subsequently if you have latest freeboot + dashlaunch you can infact enjoy both memory hack AND xbox1 compat
When did this happen and what is the latest version? I could have sworn you still had to choose one or the other.

Nah that has been a possibility for a while now. When they released dashlaunch 1.0. With Jtag Tool it still has you choose one or the other , if you use freeboot toolbox maker 2.4 it has the dashlaunch 1.0 patch added in and you don't have to select 1 or the other they are both working by default now.

Awesome...so I disconnected all of my JTAG cables, is there a good way to update to these settings without them that you know of off the top of your head? I figure there must be...do I just need to take my nad backup and run it through the toolbox, then use flash360 from FSD?

Yea you should just be able to build a new image and flash it with Xell or the Flash360 xex.

I still think their are a lot of things that have been fixed/changed in 2.0 , and the bugfixes will all be included. They need to get an alpha release out so that the greater community can test it and report bugs and such. Their is no way for them to catch every single bug but when the thousands of use get to test it we will find more bugs and have more fixes.
This team clearly has a lot of things going on in their daily lives and not much time too code the software so maybe it is best they release it this way. Maybe they can get some more coders on their team if someone likes the software and wants to code for it.
I didn't even know an Mplayer port was in the works for FSD 2.0?
If you remember with XBMC ( not to bring it up again) they had a pretty steady release cycle after the first few builds were out , and this is a whole new team than who was working on FSD before. This will be their first release of FSD as far as i know?
A lot of the homebrew dashes have made pointless releases and this one doesn't seem pointless to me, look at 360menux why even mention that it was updated it is complete shit and yet their was a front page article about it a few weeks maybe months back.

on quick question for you guys, i know this prolly the wrong place to ask but what the heck, i have a jtag'd falcon and so has the little niggle of now and again giving me one red light, this is rare but its a pita doing the initial set-up again. on the xbox1 when the console had been switched off and unpluged long enough you used to have to set the clock and date again but booting to evox dash of xbmc directly would bypass this, is this the case with the initial set-up and direct boot to fsd?
That is a problem with the wiring of the jtag. I think this might help you

...another very important thing to mention (i know most people are more careful than I am but I just want to mention it) unplug your xbox from the ethernet after the successful flash ....freeboot comes with an updated dashboard an it will go through the basic first time setup...I stupidly said yes to something without reading it and my console logged in to Live... yea now my xbox is banned

Yup, Mplayer, Avatar render + animations, new skin support, artwork directly from console instead of PC Indexer, if no artwork downloaded, uses default nxeart in container (not too sure about this one, but for sure will do on disc).
These are the real reasons why FSD 2.0 is hyped and selling out as the best homebrew dash to be released.
Like I mentioned before it's sad to get a release without any of the new features as Helldoc mentioned. It's like FSD 1.20 > FSD 1.21, not really 2.0.

Also, read some comments on forums and here some answers :

I dont know the current status, will have a look at it later. But this is not an mplayer port!! Its mostly a xmedia GUI. Therefore, dont expect mkv playing and samba support!

I get what your saying except that reading what Scuba just posted it is not an Mplayer port. I have Netflix on my Live box and I watch most of my stuff on that , so I am only worried about the homebrew software aspect right now.
I am not too concerned with the naming convention they choose it will be FSD 2.0a when it is released the a meaning Alpha which is a very early development stage , so it fits. And aesthetically this is a huge overhaul so i think the 2.0 is warranted.
Maybe we should argue less and let them release it and then make some judgments. All we are doing is speculating at this point

Dude I have a launch box that sits on for 6+ hours sometimes and it is A ok. I am not the original owner of it either , so i have no idea how it was cared for. I got it for fixing someones christmas lights with a broken DVD drive , I replaced that , and did a preemptive reflow , kept the x-clamps intact and did the flash dump tool fan mod I have a link to in my signature.
I watch Netflix on it constantly IT Crowd Mostly funny shit , anyways the kid before me said he did a towel trick to it once which is why i went ahead and reflowed it.
My point is I agree with you minus5252 , they are not that flakey to be quite honest when you care for them properly. I do think upgrading the thermal paste is a must on all systems. My JasperBB was hitting around 160F I upgraded the stock thermal paste which was basically not their , and saw it drop down to 125F that being the CPU and of course it is Jtagged so those are FSD temps , and that was before i raised the fan temp on it.
Ok so it's been 2 days since this was initially posted any word on the release he he. Yes i really am that excited about it...I know it won't really be out in 3 days but hopefully within a week at least

FSD 2.0 19-06-10
Currently testing latest fsd build on my gaming xbox.
Seems like xex parsing stopped working properly. Anthony started cleaning up the xex code so we can add delta compressed xex support (xex recreated using 360 game hack tool) and it should also be using the internal fonction of the kernel to decompress the xex, instead of the function i wrote. But as I said, doesnt seems to be running fine.
HTTP indexing seems to works fine and stable. Didnt crashed while indexing my >300 games library + >300 xbla games. (Might be talking too fast as its still indexing but fill pretty confident its working fine).
Copy DVD is still not completed (a fixed core library is completed, only the gui is left) should this be in alpha or should it be left for later release?
Still didnt had time to code a lot, but it seems like my first post this week gave the whole team a little boost.

hopefully, FSD2.0 will ever be released with some(!) of the "features" it should had,

According to him, the last time they were 2-3 days away from a release, everyone started to add stuff they thought would be useful and things dragged on with no release.
