Well there's a few tools you will want to install to have on hand on your jtag box when needed.
xm360 is one for looking through your DLC, Title Updates and XBLA content. It can be used to unlock, fix filenames and export a list of what you have installed on the drive. It's a great tool for using directly within the xbox.
FreeStyle is nice for an alternate dash if you are interested in installing emulators and other homebrew stuff. It'll also allow you to ftp data to and from your box while in that menu. xexmenu, xm360 and freestyle all allow you to ftp, so if you don't need an alternate dash for homebrew and emulator stuff then you may not need this.
NXE2GOD is for converting any of your nxe hard drive installed games to a GOD package. All is does is remove the disc check so you do not need the disc in the dvd drive in order to play your games installed to the hd via the NXE install method.
xexmenu is nice for conducting file operations on the xbox in case you need to move, copy, delete files on the various data storage used on your xbox. You can also use it to update installed software via usb if you are updating TU's, XBLA content, DLC or homebrew software.
Those are the 4 I have installed. They take up less than a MB to a few MB of space each, so it's not a big deal having them installed. They show up under Game Demo's so they are easy to find, but they do not get mixed into the list of XBLA or 360 games.
