Title: Freestyle Xbox 360 Dash V1.08
Post by: axc97c on February 12, 2010, 06:26:00 AM
Freestyle XBOX 360 Dashboard
-------------------------

2010/02/12
Create by axc97c
version 1.08

-------------------------

I decided that instead of focusing of file copying and browsing operations,
i would make the game launching and browsing as good as i could.

New stuff since last public release (1.03)
------------------------------------------

FTP speeds now 10Mb+ to internal HDD.
FTP working in many more clients (see FTP info section).
Copy DVD to USB drive or HDD.
View recently played games.
Preview video for each game.
Sounds within user interface.
View free disk space on all drives.
Date and Time in dashboard.
Background Artwork.
Add images manually using indexer.

Features
--------

FTP Support.
List XBOX 360, XBOX Live, Application and Emulators, and launch them.
Support for artwork for each title, including boxart, screenshots and icon.
Use pc to download artwork to xbox either via usb drive or ftp.
Browse games by genre.
Favourite games support.
Game details including no of players, resolution, sound and online options,
Fullscreen screenshot viewer.
Fully skinable.
Uses indexer to allow you to download artwork, and edit the metadata with
each game.
Customizable overscan.
Source code released too.

Installation
------------

Copy the "freestyle" folder onto either the root directory of the usb hard drive or
xbox hard drive and launch however you like. It will work in any directory, but
ive only provided launch isos and packages to boot from these locations.

Ive included several launch options for this release in the launch dir of the release

freestyle-usb.iso - cd image to boot freestyle from usb0:\freestyle\freestyledash.xex
freestyle-hdd.iso - cd image to boot freestyle from hdd1:\freestyle\freestyledash.xex

freestyle-usb - package to boot freestyle from usb0:\freestyle\freestyledash.xex
freestyle-hdd - package to boot freestyle from hdd1:\freestyle\freestyledash.xex

To use the iso files, burn em to a disc and boot it. To use the package files so you
get an item on the ms dash copy the one you need to
Content\0000000000000000\C0DE9999\00007000\ on your xbox hard drive.

FTP
---

To make ftp work with all clients, you need to exit the config.xml file in
the fsdata folder and set the xboxip field.

Other Notes
-----------

When first launching, you will be asked if you want the dashboard data
storing on the usb drive or xbox hdd. If you choose usb, you can run the
indexer with the drive connected to a pc, or via ftp while its still
connected to the xbox. If you use the internal xbox drive, you can still
run the indexer on the xbox via ftp.

Artwork wise, i have hosted all the icons i have available, so if any are
missing let me know which. For the boxart and screenshots, the indexer
uses the xbox marketplace for most content. Games that arent listed use
an alternate url for the main xbox site, but these need to be added manually
so some may be missing. The file for this is automatically updated so
if games have no info you can either wait for me to add them to the list or
edit the altgames.xml file yourself.

When the dash first scans your content, it takes a while as it extracts any
icons etc it finds. This is all cached though so subsequent launches of the
dashboard are quick.

The first run of the indexer will take quite some time, as it has got a lot
of artwork to get, so please be patient with it.

Video Preview support
---------------------

Plays preview.wmv from the games artwork folder. Larger files seem to crash the
XUI video player, so keep em to a few Mb. In the main skin, the res of the video
object it 354x200. Not sure what to do regarding the indexer and the video files,
they would require quite a bit of bandwidth to host if we started creating a collection
for everyone to download, so im open to suggestions.
At the the moment, some files play and some crash. I have no idea what the cause is
for this, prehaps someone can do some testing? All 3 sample wmv files with the XDK
play properly, and the 720p HD wmv samples from microsofts site done.

Fonts
-----

The dash will look for a file called fonts.xml in your skin folder. The file contains the
typeface names and filenames that will be loaded for use in the skin.

An example file is as follows:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<fonts>
   <font name="Berlin Sans FB" file="BRLNSR.TTF"/>
   <font name="Constantia" file="CONSTAN.TTF"/>
</fonts>

To load the font "skin\NXE (List)\BRLNSR.TTF" as "Berlin Sans FB"
and "skin\NXE (List)\CONSTAN.TTF" as "Constantia"

The fonts filename and name should be the same as you set up in the XUI Tool.

Future of Freestyle Dash
------------------------

I no longer have to time to continue development of this dashboard. I may have time for
the odd fix, but for it to continue to develop someone needs to set up a svn and project
page and get the community developing it further. I have included the full source code
to everything to build the dash and indexer, but if ive missed anything please let
me know.

Thanks
------

Thanks to [coz] & Jeff, and the xedev team for the code for launching XBLA containers.
Thanks to dstruktiv for sending me the code.
Thanks to all feedback from 360 dashit indexer users, as this is what that
project has turned into.
Thanks to hfmls and ACharmedMatrix for beta testing some new stuff

This is amazing stuff thank you.

Can't wait to get home to have a mess with this newer version.

You mention about wmv files from the microsoft site.  Where would these happen to be...as I can't recall ever seeing any video previews on their site of games?

Will be amazing to have a preview window for games, great cosmetic touch

edit - never mind - I can see where the trailers are now - wicked!!!  just trying to find out a way to manage to download them direct from the site

man, you are at the top of the scene developers!!!
this is the best dashboard sooo far
keep the good work!!
thanks a lot

note: some wmv makes the console freeze, i dont know why, some works, some freezes the console. the size doesnt matter, i have working 90mb wmv, and a 8mb wmv crash the console, must be the way of building the wmv file or something.

another thing to add could be scrolling text for the game description, some games has long descriptions.

Just to thank you for your great work! i've not yet tried this release, but some of the new features seems really useful (especially the dvd copy options)!!!!

It's a pity you can't work furthermore on this dash (but i think there is no much to add, perhaps a file browser?) and i hope someone want to keep the project alive!

Thank again!

You don't need code experience to create a SVN, you just need a place to host the SVN repository. Something like Google Code or Source Forge.

A list:

First, thank you very much for taking your own time to create such a wonderful tool.  I agree, this piece of software is at the top of the charts IMO.

As far as video previews go, I'm not sure where everyone is getting their videos, but gametrailers.com seems to be a great resource for trailers.  Sure, not the same as a real video preview that we see in emulators now days, but it's a start.

Using firefox plugins the trailer downloads in FLV format at 10mb or so.  Then convert to WMV and all done.

I do hope to see a source of previews like we do in emulators, but like I said, it's a start/suggestion.  Any other resources that are out there, I'd love to hear about it!

**update**

The video previews I've downloaded at xbox.com are just as good ifnot better as they are already in wmv format.

I want to setup FTP with this but I dont understand exactly what this means....

FTP
---

To make ftp work with all clients, you need to exit the config.xml file in
the fsdata folder and set the xboxip field.

I have V1.08 running perfectly. I just am not sure what the steps are to make the FTP work.
thanks

For me, FSDIndexer is still freezing, because I got too much Games on my HDD.

I hoped, that this extreme bug would get fixed, because I can't show the boxarts/screens with it.

Where I'm able to download the boxarts/screenshots from your FSDIndexer directly to my PC? - Eventuelly it would work this way.

while FSDIndex does freeze once in a while.....its not a great problem.  When you set it going again it takes a minute scanning existing folders but then more or less takes off where it left off as it can see you have xxx number of images already.  So sometimes just needs a few runs at it if a lot to update

when I was writing this then I figured it out, I pressed left and then the a button and now it works.. maybe theres is a problem with the first screen where the options internal and usb harddisk aint showing..

It is the only bug I have found so keep up the work axc97c, youre making a lot of people happy wink.gif

these files are for Live installing, my friend ;-)

just copy the freestyle-hdd or freestyle-usb in the right folder, then you can launch freestyle from your nxe's game library

folder is content/000*/Code9999/00007000

Great looking dash.

Anyone starting the source control location?  If not, I can get it started on CodePlex (or a similar site).  I wouldn't mind doing some coding as well, but like Axc97c, I don't have a lot of time available.

hey again
sorry for the multiple post crap .. but i got a problem with the icons

some games and homebrews dont have icons .. so, i want to change that

therefore i opened the FSDindexer, checked the game/homebrew i want from the left, and then i clicked the ADD Button after the "icon" line.
i choosed my png file and then, nothing .. just back in the unchanged fsd indexer. no icon appears
i tried a few resolutions, tried with and without alpha, but nothing

are there special specifications for the icons,if so, how r they ?

thanks for all here :-)

Hello All

Have quite a few people offering svn hosting etc. Many thanks for this. At the moment, i dont have time to do the organization of something like this at all. What we need is a couple of people to have control over what happens with a central svn or similar. I can provide hosting for stuff if needed, but several others seem to have this sort of thing available so probably easier for one of you lot to do it.

As far as im concerned, im happy for others to take charge and take this in any direction the community feels good, no need to ask permission or anything like that, im happy for people to just get on with stuff. All i ask is to be credited in the readme etc.

I may get chance in a couple of weeks to do a bit of coding on this, but for now, im out of time, need to get back to doing real work that will pay the bills.

I have to say that I love this dashboard, it working great. Here are the only features it is lacking that I can think of:

Ability to get game data from Xbox 360, rather than using the PC

Compatibility with TVersity (like UPnP support or something)

Ability to use boxart for emulators (currently, I cannot set any of the emulators to have boxart or anything else. I know it is not the image I am using, as the same icon will work if used on an Xbox 360 game)

Temperature and IP address displayed on main page.

Compatibility with more FTP programs (currently, all FTP features work when using the indexer, but when using FlashFXP, I can't see any part of the directory structure or files. It connects, but displays nothing)

A favorites list that combines all favorites (like having Xbox 360, Xbox Live, and other favorites displayed in a favorites menu or something)

Ability to launch NXE ripped games

Ability to rip and replace movies and other unneeded or replaceable files to save HDD or USB space.

I hope it is clear, these ARE NOT COMPLAINTS, just the features I believe would make this dash most useful. With these features, it would essentially be XBMC...

2 more features that are completely unnecessary, but easy (I believe) and helpful: RSS feed reader (and/or weather display app for main page of dashboard) and a web browser since we can use USB keyboards and mice on the 360).

Anyway, I wish that I had some idea how to code this myself, but I don't even know where to start.

for the videos previews you can get them at gametrailers.com and just recode them with wmencoder.(CBR video CBR audio)

I need some help from experimented skinners to check my skin (particulary the NamedFrames) MP me for help.(it's an animated skin with sound and transitions so if you don't know what i'm talking about, don't request about the skin)

here are some (non animated biggrin.gif) screenshots.

For the current version, if you exit the config.xml file within fsdata and change the xbox ip from 0.0.0.0 to the ip of your xbox, all ftp programs ive tested work ok. The CDUP ftp command isnt implements, so sometimes you have to manually edit the remote path. This should be a very easy thing to write.

For combined favourites, i think its RB on the main page. X on the main page will show recently played games. Not sure if these elements have been added to skins other than the included nxe on though.

At the moment, there is no known way of getting the xboxs ip address from the xbox itself.

Web stuff is fairly easy to do, and there are easy threading and http client examples in the code, also xml parsing, so something like rss should be easy to do.

Launching NXE games, again there is no known way of doing this. Like wise the temp display, only the xexmenu people know how to do this.

For a full web browser, this would require porting an existing browser which would be a huge task.

Support for foreign character i think will require all the strings to be changed from a mix of string and wstring to all being wstring. There is a function in the fsdindexer that strips all but a list of specified characters so some could be added in here i think (but only normal ANSI 8 bit characters)

@bwolf417 - The folders should be in the root of your HDD or USB drive. You could place them where you have already done so, but would have to modify the config xml file to designate the new locations.

@axc97c - Thanks for the response. Pressing the buttons from the main page for recently played and a favorites list works perfect on the NXE skins, thanks! I hope all future skins include these features! Thanks for all of the hard work on this dashboard, I am anxious to see what it will become.

Yes, in the "Loader" folder, I believe, burn the appropriate .iso to a disc (CD-R works fine). There is a HDD version and a USB version. For the HDD .iso to work, the Freestyle dash folder must be in the root of your HDD, and it must be in the root of the USB drive for the USB .iso to work.

Then, once you have the disc burned, leave it in the Xbox 360 tray and set auto-boot to on. That way, when you turn on your 360, it will automatically load the disc in the drive, which in turn loads Freestyle.

Hey everyone,

I posted an update to the Aquatica theme I did a few weeks ago to the spiffy360 theme site. I don't have the ability to post a bunch of screen shots because of the way it was built, but I did post a youtube video of it in action and a screen grab of the video.

It is a work in progress, but I felt it was usable and wanted to get it out there.

If you notice any problems, or have suggestions, let me know!

Sorry bud, but I am not sure what you are asking here. The way my XBLA titles are placed is strictly in the Content/000000000/XXXXXX files, just as they would normally be on a stock Xbox 360.

If you want to restate your question, I will try to help though.

Okay, here's a quick run through:

Copy the Freestyle folder to the ROOT of your Xbox 360, as in it should be like this:
HDD1/freestyle

As for your live titles, the folders that are all numbers (6 numbers I think) should all be in:
HDD1/content/0000000000/

From this point, Freestyle should see the XBLA titles. Now you can run the indexer from your computer, ensuring that you have added your Xbox 360's IP address to the config file, and update everything via FTP (screenshots, description, etc.)

Not sure if I am telling you things you feel you've already tried, but I am sure we can get to the bottom of this.

Get rid of the "XBLA" folder for your XBLA titles. Put all of the XBLA titles in /Hdd1/Content/0000000000000000/, not /Hdd1/Content/0000000000000000/XBLA/. As for Homebrew, put that fold in at the root of the HDD as well (unless you have made changes to the config.xml file to change the path).

That should get it working.

Thanks!

The video files should play over the music.  Well, you would hear both audios going which could be annoying, but honestly, I felt the video preview for the game would be like a trailer or something that didn't really require perfect sound.

I will work on getting the music to stop when a video is played- or make it stop when it's on the game selection screen.

Thanks for the feeback!

No problem. I was actually saying that I can't even enable the video preview...I am not able to put an "X" in the check box next to "use preview videos on game list."

Turns out that I AM able to put the "X" in the box, but the "X" is invisible. Having the music fade for videos would be nice, but either way, I'm using this dash now. My daughter even likes it.

***Actually, the background music isn't bad with a video, so if it can't be removed, it is fine as is...just be a nice extra feature.

Apparently right now there is only HFS+ READ support, not WRITE.
I don't know if this is an issue with XBR, or what. but xexmenu is the same way.
So you can't copy/install stuff via the 360. you have to hook your external back up to a PC and transfer the stuff manually that way.

IDK where write support will come from. anybody know?

can anyone help me out i've got freestyle dash in an applications folder on external hd which i just run the freestlyle.xex, on my pc i also have the same folder which i run the fsindexer from,im trying to add previews.wmv files but i can't find the artwork folder either on the pc or even the external hd which is hooked up to the xbox,i did try just running fsindexer vix ftp on pc which i added a preview.wmv file to the boxart directory in the app but when i reload dash with the command the vid freezes and deletes the artwork etc for that said game,do i put an artwork folder on the external hd applications folder of freestyle dash or do i put it on the pc that i run fsindexer from?

I couldn't figure this out either at first. Once you have the video you wish to use converted to .wmv and named preview.wmv, put it in the game artwork directory. This is found under fsdata/artwork/**GAME TITLE**. This was confusing to me, as many of the folders there are for the XBLA titles, and the directories are just numbers, but go to the bottom of the list, and you will find the Xbox 360 game titles at the bottom of the list if you don't see them at the top. Go to the directory for the game, and put preview.wmv there.

When you first started Freestyle, it should have asked where you wanted to save that data. the "fsdata" folder should be on the root of HDD1 or the USB drive. Hope that helps, if not, let me know.

To all skinners or possible developers for this software:

Since this dash can play music and sounds, is there any way to integrate an MP3 player into the dash, allowing you to switch songs, etc. while navigating the dash?

You're going to have to elaborate on your situation more. Are you trying to copy using the CopyDVD function, or what. Also, you didn't specify if the issue was with Xbox 360 retail titles, or Xbox 360 Arcade games.

Let us know more, and we'll help.

Tell us the process you are using, and where the process stops working.

Also, are you sure you have enough space left on the drive? Can you confirm that the Xbox 360 can detect the drive (I have read some places that the 360 has problems with some drives, even if they are formatted to FAT32).

Tai-Kung : have you first added the fonts to your XUI environment ? (add the ttf fonts to your skin folder, then go in Tools/options, and add your fonts)

Then you can change your fonts in your XUI. (dont forget to copy the displayed name and the ttf file name to your XML)

Worked perfectly for me.

minus5252: why do you want a player ? you already have one in the "guide" ! !

others : sorry no more testers for my skins for the moment, i need to fix some littles things (namedframes) right now befor i can go ahead , i have only done the gamedetails, utilities and main xurs for now and i have a looooooooottttttt of work with the other xurs (if i can do what i really want to do)

So for now the first thing for me is to found someone (or by myself) how to perfectly manage the namedframes.

Are you using a drive with hacked firmware on it, as I'm not positive that a JTAGed Xbox will read anything but retail discs unless you have a hacked firmware (I could be wrong on this). Also, are you copying the .iso, or are you using the .iso to burn an image to a disk.

Many people, when new to stuff like this, simply burn the .iso file to the disc, and this is not the proper process.

the disc is a store bought game but i do know how to burn copied games to play on flashed drives. does it need to be a copied game to copy to hdd or can i use a retail bought game?

I used imgburn to burn the ISO. i do believe the firmware is hacked on my dvd drive. I remember when i originally put XeXloader on there it read the Iso disk I made. But since then The DVD drive is not an option to read from.

So is that to say that there is absolutely nothing on the drive? If so, try creating a "Games" folder on the drive and try again. I remember some people with completely empty drives having issues using them until a file or folder was put on the drive.

I also had a similar problem. Ibelieve that putting a "games" folder on the root of the USB drive will fix everything. Please let us know if that works.

I wouldn't do that, put your full games into a "games" directory on the root of the drive. This will also allow you to use the "CopyDVD" function.

So you can't even select "Play Game" from the Xbox 360s main menu to load the disc?

If not, it **sounds** like the drive is not flashed, but I could be wrong. The only other thing I can think of is that perhaps the drive itself is going bad.

Yes, but I believe you will have to inject the DVD key into the new drive, and once again, I can't guarantee that is your problem, but I have no other ideas what it could be unless you are leaving something out. This is probably a stupid question, but is the disc clean?

The emulator is not working because you are using a live packaged version of that emulator, so it can't be put into or run from "emulators"

As for the FTP issue, turn PASSIVE mode on (Thanks to dufc1983, who helped me with this SAME issue).

You must set "passive" and it doesn't support back dir you must edit path manually.

You must set "passive" and it doesn't support back dir you must edit path manually.

A "turn off console" button would be appreciated.

Ah, passive. I'd disabled that for Xexmenu biggrin.gif. Thanks.

Just use the guide button to turn the xbox off....
Half of the options in original xbox dashboards were stolen and put into the guide button. No need to readd them to homebrew.

For anyone using a memory card for xbla titles and other things you can update the config.xml to read it.
<path>memunit0:\Content\</path>
<path>memunit1:\Content\</path>
would obviously be for <xboxlive>
I'm not entirely sure memunit1 will work because I've only tested the one card in port one out. but I dont see why it wouldnt.

ToBbErT, that is set up to point to the xbox hdd. not for usb or memory card. You'll have to make your own.

i've also noticed if you update the gsyz skin the file manager function no longer works so maybe the creator of that skin could look into it,was fine using old skin but if u had version 2 it doesn't do anything once u click utilities/file manager

that's because skin was made for 1.06 beta. biggrin.gif

he has to update it.
Gryz pls update to 1.08 your skin is great smile.gif

this looks like a great dash! my only problem is i try to open the config.xml file to put in my xbox's ip, and it says its read only.....is that only with me or is this a common problem?

use xexmenu to edit that file.

FREESTYLE DASH has to get "not passive mode" smile.gif

guys i can go back and forward in ftp. up and down.

use passive mode BUT with user and pass xbox xbox!
that way u will get full access, but in passive mode.
all good here.

it's driving me crazy. i really love that dash and it's beautiful that i can load my xblas from extern usbdrive as long as i wait for a intern hdd.

i read that freestyle dash can handle DLC stuff from extern usb drive too, so i tried to load the DLC of Death Smiles. I found no tutorial, so i just put the DLC folder like all the working xbla stuff into usb0:/content/000000000000/

loaded freestyle dash and went to live arcade -> didn't find m death smiles dlc, so i started my death smiles game and if i click there on the DLC (Mega Black Label) nothing happens.

what do i do wrong? like i said, i read that it can handle dlc of extern usb drives and i have to wait some weeks till i get a intern hdd...

thx for helping me

I checked the source.  I wish it were VB.NET since that is what I am used to developing.  Guess I will have to wait for the scene to improve functionality.  A few things that would really be beneficial:

1)  Add ability to patch default.xex with title updates (title updates can be download from http://xbuc.tl/?)
2)  Add ability to download/check preview.wmv files
3)  Add ability to download preview.wmv from http://msbox-world.com
4)  Add ability to stream .ISO BluRay movie files (with interface similar to MyMovies)

I will try my best to convert the code to VB.NET, and if successful, I will work on the FSD Indexer portion.

IT NEEDED 2 WHOLE DAYS FOR ME, to download all boxarts/screenshots.
After it was finally finished, I klicked "Save Content XML" and rebootet the Xbox with FSDIndexer.

I haven't seen any cover I downloaded, for 2 days.

I doubt you will get much help simply complaining about your issue.  I am on the closest thing to dial up there is and used FSDIndexer to download just under 300 games worth of info, screenshots, icons, etc.  It took me about 6 hours.

If you want help then provide information, if not, use something else.

You must have a "Games" folder in the root of your HDD or USB drive. The "Copy DVD" feature doesn't work for anything but games as far as I know.

You sometimes have to go to freestyle, click on restore settings. Then open FSDIndexer, connect via FTP and search all games again, it will not download everything again, just update the covers.

Worked for me. There is a discussion about this issue in the original Freestyle thread

I remeber on the old fsdindexer version when you use ftp sometimes it broke the xml file (adding lines badly and then you have 2 times </Freestyle>

Like Jbonzo says :  click on restore settings or delete your fsdata folder and try again (or edit your xml)

Not really trying to debate regarding my language of choice, but it seems to me that VB.NET is actually get more enhancements in the new version of Visual Studio 2010 than C# (oh and some of those that C# do not have).  Besides, everything you can do with C#, you can do with VB.NET (maybe with the exception of pointers - even which Microsoft would rather you avoid if possible).

Oh, and the reason I would like it in VB.NET is because then I could have made some contribution to the scene.

Well said giza.  The indexer doesn't have to be in any specific language really, if it's coded in something more people can help out with, then what's the harm?  I personally would help if it was in VB.Net, I simply never had the desire or time to learn C#.  That would leave the C# guys to work on the actual XBOX stuff, which seems like it would be more beneficial anyway.  PC Utilities like the indexer are taylor made for VB I think. But that's just me smile.gif

If you decide to work on that let me know if I can help.

I have Freestyle Dash 1.08 running and I've tried to run a few different themes i got from spiffy360.

I've put the theme folders in the skin folder and they show up in freesyle dash but when i select them and reload the dash it goes back to the NXE list theme.

I'm running in 1080p but also tried it in 720p but still only the original ones work.

Am i missing something really simple?

Hello All

1.09 beta can be found at...

http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=be995fc...7b784fef9ed9be3

Its been converted to a unicode app so all manner of things could be broken (hence the beta)!

Changes:
Dont download artwork thats already on the hdd
Support for foreign characters
Fixed black screen at startup
No skin changes so 1.08 skins will work ok

minus5252 : thanks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) here is a video preview of it (sorry for the poor (webcam) quality but i'm waiting for an normal xbox cable to capture video directly)

Could you make the video preview a little bit bigger?
Maybe you could use the iPad as video player picture^^

Great work!!!!!

I've made it list GoD games on 1.08, might put it into 1.09 as well then.
Very rough job atm, it lists them under xbla, and there are a few bugs in it,
but after restart of the dash it works.

For scanning God stuff id create a function

CODE
void ContentList::ScanGODGame(int type, wstring path, wstring id)
{
    WIN32_FIND_DATA findFileData;
    memset(&findFileData,0,sizeof(WIN32_FIND_DATA));
    wstring searchcmd = path + L"\\0000000000000000\\" + id + L"\\00070000\\*";
    searchcmd = str_replaceall(searchcmd,L"\\\\",L"\\");
    HANDLE hFind = FindFirstFile(wstrtostr(searchcmd).c_str(), &findFileData);
    if (hFind == INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE)
        return;

    do {
        wstring s = strtowstr(findFileData.cFileName);

        ContentItem * item = new ContentItem();
        item->path = sprintfa(L"%s0000000000000000\\%s\\00070000\\%s",path.c_str(),id.c_str(),s.c_str());
        //DebugMsg("Adding XBLX %s",item->path.c_str());
        item->type = type;
        item->id = id;
        item->Exist = true;
        item->source = 3;
        item->imagefolder = id;

        MakeShortPath(item);

        AnyChanged = true;

        XBLAParse(item);

        Content.push_back(item);
    } while (FindNextFile(hFind, &findFileData));

    FindClose(hFind);
}

Im not sure if 00070000 is the god type code, so replace with what is

in function
CODE
void ContentList::ScanXBLAPath(int type, wstring path)

change

CODE
ScanXBLAGame(0,path,strtowstr(findFileData.cFileName));

to
CODE
ScanXBLAGame(0,path,strtowstr(findFileData.cFileName));
ScanGODGame(1,path,strtowstr(findFileData.cFileName));

Launching code should be in
CODE
void ContentList::LaunchGame(ContentItem * item)

If check item->type == 0 for GOD game otherwise XBLA

How are you launching god stuff?

Read the readme included with the release.  The instructions are there and the application comes with the release.

If you are launching from External Dash Anyways what does GOD Support buy us? Or is it just cause you have it installed as GoD Already?

Read the readme included with the release.  The instructions are there and the application comes with the release.
Part of Readme - When first launching, you will be asked if you want the dashboard data
storing on the usb drive or xbox hdd. If you choose usb, you can run the
indexer with the drive connected to a pc, or via ftp while its still
connected to the xbox

As I could not see the usb or 360 HDD option when I first installed freestyle ..There was no data on my usb so fsdindexer was not opening and I cant get ftp to work...

I finally figured out that all I needed to do was make an fsdata folder on my usb and make a copy of content.xml in that folder...Fsdindexer opens up now...

Thanks for the help anyways  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

Still having problems..I was able to get freestyle to save the fsdata folder with content.xml and config.xml and art work folder inside it on my usb hdd...

1.I connect my usb hdd to my PC and open fsdindexer..

2.Open Via USB

3.Xbox Drive ( USB ? ) or ( HDD ? ) My arcade games are saved on the 360 hdd my full games are on my USB HDD.. I choose  - USB -

4.USB Options - I select my USB HDD

5.Indexer opens up and it creates a cache folder and a config file inside the "FSDIndexer" Folder

6. Choose get data for all games/ even for incomplete..

7. It downloads art etc and I save "Content.XML"

8.I replace content.xml in USB HDD fsdata folder ..

Now

"DO I do anything with the cache or config file that were created in the fsdindexer folder and if yes were do they go??On the 360HDD or the root of the USB HDD???

Thanks

Listing GOD stuff is easy, launching it hasn't been done yet as far as I know. I have been out of the scene for 3 odd weeks though so maybe there's been some progress...

I know [cOz] was getting very very close after a lot of reversing (He was the one who discovered xbla/demo launching) - I haven't been on IRC in ages though so not sure if he finally cracked it.

But that's just me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

If you decide to work on that let me know if I can help.

Regards,
EluZioN

I looked at the source code and it looks to actually be coded in C++.  When I finally do get some spare time (currently working on 4 projects at the job) I will look into converting just the FSDIndexer to VB.NET.  The projects at th job are a high priority because I have incentives based around completion of those projects (a lot of $$).

The way I got my arcade games to show (mine are also stored on my 360 HDD) was to lauch FSD on the 360 with the USB HDD attached.  After the initial index was completed, I then connected the USB HDD to my PC and ran FSDIndexer.  Although the arcade games are on your 360 HDD, the config.xml file on you USB HDD should have a reference to those games.  When executing FSDIndexer select "USB" then select your USB drive from the dropdown.  You should see all of you games in the list.  The get the info for the games and save the config.xml.  After trhat connect back to your 360 and launch FSD from the USB HDD.

You may be having issues because you are launching FSD from the 360 HDD instead of the USB HDD.  When you copy the config.xml to the 360 HDD, the paths in the config.xml may not be correct.  Hopefully this will help you get going.

First off, Amazing App.....

Now, everything works perfect except the FTP part for me....

I have extracted the "config.xml" and changed the FTP part to "192.168.1.210" and it is still not working. I use Xexmenu and it works just fine. I would like to use this dash for everything. Here is what I have done so far:

I open "config.xml" and I get this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
- <config>
- <paths>
- <xboxlive>
  <path>usb0:\Content\</path>

  <opt background="1" preview="1" />
  <timeformat time="0" date="0" />
  </config>

(Notice under the ftp xboxip=192.168.1.210) this is my Xbox 360's IP...this is what I use with Xexmunu and it works just fine)

@aubrey I had the same problem. To solve it, manually set your ip with the NXE Dashboard and then try it. So for example in the ip settings with NXE
IP: 192.168.1.300
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: Router IP

On your computer
IP for the xbox connection: 192.168.1.XX <---- any number (301 for example)
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
No need to set gateway

FSD: put your ip that you set in nxe and config

and you should be good to go

PS. Use the family settings to block xbox live from connecting

I understand what soul is trying to say with this but dont try and set the IP address to .300 as it wont work, the range must be used between 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.254 (255 is the broadcast address for a 255.255.255.0 subnet), also set it somewhere around 260 as if you have an internal router you dont want to duplicate a DHCP address that is being distributed to any other network devices

simple move the files from disc 2 over disc 1 files saying no to any that ask if u want replaced,thats how i've done it for forza and mass effect 2, no issues so far it may still pop saying to swap discs but it goes away after half a second

does the add button wok for adding images in indexer work for anyone?
I'm trying to create an icon for Flash360 but I can't seem to get it to add. I have made it 64X64 png file. Could someone give me the requirements for each type( icon, background, screenshot etc..) please.

hi there

i am a user of the freestyle dash 1.08 in combination with the aquatica v3 skin.
its very, very nice. hopefully there comes evo-x, unleash-x etc times in the future (best dash was avalaunch. so a mix of freestyle and ingenioux were great)

i wanted to edit the config ini so that :

under GAMES will be only games listed
under Applications should be only apps like quickboot etc., maybe a cool file explorer like boxplorer in the near future
under Homebrew i just want the hacked dashboards,
and under Emus, yes of course, the Emus

so, all works fine with GAMES, APPS and EMUS

but i dont get it to see the dashboards under Homebrew
a little question in between .. is it possible to add a new Menu between apps, games, homebrew and emus ?! maybe an explizit Dashboard menu ?

so, heres my config ini :

CODE
Code:

            usb0:\Games\
            hdd1:\Games\

this works fine

            usb0:\XBox1\

this doesnt matter

            hdd1:\Applications\dashes
            hdd1:\Applications\Apps\
            usb0:\applications\
            usb0:\apps\
            hdd1:\dashes\

This wont work. the Dashboards are listed under "hdd1/applications/dashes, and for testing under "hdd1/dashes". but they wont be shown under homebrew folder. in the dashes folder are a 360Menu, XexMenu .. Folder with integrated default.xex files. what is the trick here ?

            usb0:\Emulators\
            hdd1:\Emulators\
            usb0:\Emu\
            hdd1:\Emu\

hdd1:\Emulators are the correct folder, and this works fine

            usb0:\Content\
            hdd1:\Content\

]so, whats this? this Menu wont be shown under aquatica ? i got one arcade game installed, but it wont be listed ?

    Aquatica (Scroll)

Are there a reason for the "not working dashboard listing" ?
And, is it possible to add new Menus, or is this "hardcoded" in the source ?

maybe some1 could help, would be wonderfull :-)

hey,thanks G3ist for answer, but all homebrew dashes are with default.xex executable .. no other names ...

so far as i know, u dont have to edit the config file for ip changing. the hacked dashes got their ip adress from your NXE settings
if u got the class c 192.168.0.55 ip in the original nxe dash, so freestyle, xex ... will use the same ip
did u get connection errors or something like that ?!

I'm listing and launching GoD's with my build of freestyle dash, it is actually the same as xbla launching.

Unload the unicodetest project, its just testing stuff from when i was converting to unicode.

Saw that minus asked earlier in the thread about adding gengre in FSD indexer.

I would like to make a gengre that support coop games with systemlink if its possible.

The way i can do it now is to mark those games as favourites but would love to have an option to edit gengre.

Thanks!

you need to make a shortcut container or something like that. It can be done with Quickboot, the latest version is >=2.0. With Quickboot, you can make a shortcut linking to a .xex file located on the HDD or USB drive.

Hope that helps, and if someone knows something I don't, by all means.

P.S. There is one advantage to using the disc, which is why I use a disc: if the NXE is set to autolaunch the disc in the drive, your Xbox 360 will boot straight into Freestyle. For me, it is excellent.

yes i saw the instructions and i read them about 20 times.  like i said i can boot from the iso burned to a cd with no problem.  and that might be the way to go.  but i'd like to have the dashboard installed in my menu as an option.  he doesn't mention any need to use quickboot in the instructions.  so i've tried moving the folder that says it's for the hd but it doesn't show up.  it says it doesn't matter where it is located, but i find that hard to believe.  i tried putting it in the 07000 directory but doesn't show up?

could someone who uses it on the hd please just list the path it should be?  and which file(s) should be there?

example :  /content/0000000/ ....

thanks

just rtfm ..

Content\0000000000000000\C0DE9999\00007000\

copy the hdd or usb variant there, and the shortcut is created (dont forget to make sure that your Freestyle-folder is at the root of hdd1 or usb1 )

so, someone have experiences in config.ini editing, so he could help at my question about the "Homebrew" section and non-listed apps ?
would be a dream, i really love the aquatica skin of freestyle, very very nice

Hi all,

Got the dash working great, really like it. I am having a problem with the FTP though and hoping you guys can help. Everything connects fine with FlashFXP but I only get transfer speed of just under 2mb/sec.

With the same client I get 5mb when connecting to XEXMENU.

Any ideas as the readme for Freestyle says it gets up to 10mb

Cheers.

**running the freestyle dash without the background panel gives the skin a new look. more of the background image instead of the gray panel when viewing content(Games,XBL,etc.).
**goto freestyle folder > skin > NXE (covers) > delete backgroundpanel.png.. then check it out.

what about we all help to create a website or a portal with all info from games used in fsindexer?

covers,icons,artwork,trailers with correct resolution.
so fsindexer could connect there?
like a wiki?
so we all could update it?
also freedash could get news rss from that site.

You willing to help in getting the preview.wmvs?

As for the FTP problems, aren't you supposed to use port 21, not 1032? It seems you are using passive mode, so the port is the only issue I can see. Are you sure both the NXE IP and your config IP are set the same? Not sure if that matters, but that is what I have.

here are some previews (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=eed08f8...b20786b9a6e1ed0

to get a video background working just slap a xuivideo on there with a proper wmv

xuitool sucks but after playing around i made this based on gryz:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twFV-lmS6h0

watch it with sound turned on (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

EDIT: forgot the preview videos  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

Sorry, I'm not familiar with xuivideo...and where did you get the videos? Xbox.com?

I've tried a couple of preview vids now and they've all just frozen the box sad.gif. One was 6mb which I realise is probably too big.  The other was 1mb.

size doesn't matter(atleast in this case  biggrin.gif ).... the videos just have to be encoded properly...

if you check my test videos you'll see that i have 30mb+ files

it's important to encode them with cbr audio and video and they should work fine...

i took videos from gametrailers.com and msxbox world...

to make sure they work, the easiest thing todo is run them through windows live movie maker with the save local option @ 720p

IPB Image

or you can create a custom preset with the windows media profile editor if you want a higher bitrate for less blocky videos

I have a boatload of movie files ready....but have not copied them across yet.

does windows movie maker allow batch conversion?  would be tedious to have to do every single one one at a time.

Someone mentioned Xillisoft also can be used that defo can do them in batch - but not sure which version of that program as there seems to be a lot of versions for systems/devices etc

You willing to help in getting the preview.wmvs?

As for the FTP problems, aren't you supposed to use port 21, not 1032? It seems you are using passive mode, so the port is the only issue I can see. Are you sure both the NXE IP and your config IP are set the same? Not sure if that matters, but that is what I have.

solved my problem.

I used wmrecorder to get my trailers from http://www.videogamer.com and then used http://www.any-video-converter.com/download-avc-free.php to convert them. Best of all any video is free.

I set the frame size to 780x480 & Video bitrate to 4000, default settings should already be set at CBR.

This does batch aswell by the looks.

Cool dash, but it's not really looking so good on my SDTV. The text is pretty unreadable, and everything is squashed and too skinny because it's not widescreen. Yes, using the settings you can adjust the horiz and vert size until it's letterboxed and the skinniness goes away, but then the text goes from unreadable to "hey, is that even text?" uhh.gif

I know there are some themes/skins for this, but have no idea if any would help on an SDTV non-widescreen setup. Anyone have any suggestions for any that would work?

I don't mean to complain, just asking if there's anything to fix this. If not I'll just stick with xexmenu for now, no big deal.

If we can get a few people doing it ,It should not be to bad....Once done they can be upped to usenet until a site is available to host them on...

Yeah, just let me know the way you want the videos created, so we have some sort of standard...We should get several people and split up the list so we don't duplicate work.

this is a very nice idea

but, just think about the mass of traffic this will create. there are tons of games
so, let us thin there are only 200 games out atm. and each preview got ca 30MB. that summaries to 6000 MB, where will u store this?
Not every ppl gotta usenet account, for us, the people which got a usenet acc, its no problem, but u cant share  a lot of GB's on crap like rapidshare . here we need another solution

of course this is possible, but its a heavy weight for this mass of rar files
(cause u have to had each preview extra listed, so that you dont have to download 65 Preview-Videos to get the one u needed)

next thing is, that the downloads from such filesharing centers sometimes were deleted. the beast and easiest way here is the usenet, but what to do with 4free guys ..
maybe creating containers for rapidshare, megaupload and ... and .. and ...

i only want to say, that this is a lot of work. but if u want, i'm in ;-)

Yes it is alot of work and i dont think it will be done in a week..

First we need to find out how many people will be involved.That way we can give 0 - G to 1 person G - R to person 2 .etc etc...

I think just getting them done is the main part ..Then we can break them up so they can go on mediafire or something....

The standard should be .."Game trailer" Video if possible ..Running them thru Windows movie maker at 720 x 480...I think as long as they work and are not very pixelated that should be fine...

I am open to more suggestions

a ftp server would be cool. but who gots 20gigs free on his private server ..  biggrin.gif

Great work all, this is turning into a fantastic dash.

Few observations/suggestions for the coders/skinners regarding File Manager:

Using 1.08 and Aquatica scroll, the right bumper (display drive list) in file manager doesn't do anything except indent the "rb" icon.
In 1.08 File Manager, when you switch between drives it resorts back to the root, rather than the previous folder you were in.
Could a multi-select or select all be added to the file manager?
Lastly, when the file manager fails to copy a file (The ones I have encountered seem to be a filename/path length problem) could it list the failed file in the results?

Not complaining, please don't reply "Do it yourself".  If I could I would, just throwing out some things I have observed to make the dash even better.

Thanks All,
EluZioN

I'm having an issue with it reading xbla content. It works perfectly fine in the microsoft dash but I can't get it to show in freestyle. I've edit all the pathing and it looks like it's reading it when it boots in to freestyle dash but then doesn't display anything.

Do I need to do something to all the xbla content to make it read it properly or is it something else?

Make sure the config.xml file in the fsdata folder reflects your paths properly.  Here is a sample of the entry on mine for XBLA (I don't have my content on the root of the HDD as I don't want NXE to list it).
<xboxlive>
      <path>usb0:\Content\</path>
      <path>hdd1:\Freestyle\Content\</path>
</xboxlive>

Beyond that, make sure the "0000000000000000" folder inside "Content" has 16 zeros (so it would be Content\0000000000000000\).  You don't have to do anything with the content except copy the 5841XXXX folder into the 0000000000000000 folder. Course you said NXE lists everything fine, so it's not an issue with the 0's. Has to be something with the config.xml.

Good Luck,
EluZioN

Okay, here is a .txt file with all of the megaupload links: http://hotfile.com/d...s.txt.html.html

Hope that helps. I hosted the links on hotfile so that it wouldn't count against a megaupload download cap (if there is one).

The content inside the rar doesnt match to what its named something went wrong.

Change in ContentList.cpp

CODE
ScanGODGame(1,path,strtowstr(findFileData.cFileName));

to

CODE
ScanGODGame(0,path,strtowstr(findFileData.cFileName));

display gods in tab XBLA and show images correctly
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=J3YAB329

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SKP7O68Txex only repared

Is it possible to have it display images/previews but still list them in the Xbox 360 tab? I have a feeling it would involve a more in depth rewrite or you would have done this to begin with.

Hello All

Loving the preview vids everyone has put together.

Just wondering what new stuff has been developed for this? Is it worth putting together a 1.10 release with the GOD stuff, temps, and other things that people have written?

What additional stuff has been added to this by various poeple since the 1.09beta release?

Has anyone done anything relating to the altcontent.xml file?

I noticed a bug in the dvd copying to an usb hard drive.  I copied Street Fighter 4 and the file "Game\Menu\ENG\user.ems.emz" was copied to the hard drive as "user.emz".  Guitar Hero 5 did the same thing but i don't remember the file name.  Maybe this is related to the bug where the icon won't show up if you have a number surrounded by two spaces in the folder name.

The NXE(list) skin doesn't have all the files, it seems.  Copy over chooseskin.xui, chooseskin.xur, options.xui, and options.xur from the NXE(covers) directory and put them in your NXE(list) directory

Hi there,
I am the only one who has problems to upload the Games via FTP?

I can login, I can see all the folders, but there is a strange thing, a normal ftp separate folders with "/", but this ftpd has strange "\" signs too:

 /\hdd1\Games\Mirrors Edge/

And if my ftp client, total commander or ftprush tries to create a folder MKD than it's an ivalid argument, because of the "\" signs.

If I am creating the folders manually, and queue the files it's ok, but you can imagine how many folders are sometimes available in an extracted ISO. sad.gif

Where to change the \ to / ?

Thanks,
Keksz

hey

first, 4 ftp'ing games the best resolution is to use the xexmenu. i got every time probs while using the exiso guis in combination with freestyle

my combi is flashfxp or filezilla and a running xexmenu. there are datarates up to 10mbit/s with this tools. works like a charme :-)

maybe the total commander is using other commands for the ftpshit. try filezilla, its ok, its fast and, its free smile.gif

Had a similar issue before with the ip address. Change it in the 360 settings to a static ip. Not sure why the speeds would decrease though.

This is a trivial fix.  I'd be happy to contribute it to the codebase if there was a central location for it.

Also, there's no reason to have to configure your xbox's ip address...after all, the code runs on the xbox, and it knows its IP address.  Another trivial fix.

Now that there is an SVN, I'll be making the trivial patch to FreeStyle's ftp so that active mode works.  Not a big deal at all.

I think i got it so GoD games will show up with Cover Art in the 360 Tab.

I need someone to test for me as i am at work.

The only change i made is the GoD Display stuff, but it may freeze up your xbox as it's not tested completely.

Also it will likely need a re-index of content (settings clear data and reset then re fsdindex)

If someone is interested PM me to help me test.

Has anyone seen a ftp issue when copying large files (1+ GB) where your transfer rate will begin to drop as the file gets closer and closer to completion?

My file copy starts out around 10 Mb/sec and by the time it finishes, it's around 600 Kb/sec.

I have seen the same behavior with both flashfxp and filezilla.

Anyone seen anything similar?

Thanks

I just had a look at the source in the svn.  I don't see an obvious problem that could cause this, but there is a clear possibility of improvement (use buffered streams instead of fwrite).  Again...if there were a real SVN of this project, it would really help it move along.  I've already made a bunch of improvements to the code, but I have no where to contribute them...And, no, don't ask...I won't provide them to individuals.

In the meantime, I'll make the fixes to use buffered I/O and try and move something big to my box to see if it makes a difference...

I'm sure someone could...but I'm certainly not going to...it should be someone who is prepared to manage it, and to do occasional builds and call them a "release".  Most people who want to use this aren't going to be able to build it from the SVN.

I have my newest rev there.

Notable features!!

GoD launches from Game menu (not arcade) with full cover and screenshot support

Parental Controls.

Configurable Temp, Disk Space, and IP Address on the main screen.

The files are downloadble from the google code site.

Again any developers want to add just send me a message and i will be happy to add people.

I will do my best to co-ordinate changes and add things to the SVN.

The big thing is FTP needs to be worked on, and sadly i don't know much about the FTP configs... I am not a coder as a first career, it's more of a hobby for me.

Alright, so I've got a really weird problem. None of my games are showing up anymore. I've backed up my content.xml so I don't have to rescan like I've had to do a couple times. I just can't figure out why it keeps erasing my xml. I can go into the file browser and launch games just fine from freestyle. I'm launching from usb. When I change my skin, it'll show fine until I exit and go back into freestyle, then it goes back to the default skin. I've looked for a gamesave and there is nothing under freestyle and only xexmenu under unknown game. I even grabbed the latest off of the SVN to see if that fixed it, but it still does the same thing.

Anyone have any ideas for me to try?

thanks...

The graphics used in the theme so far, are either from the original Freestyle Dash theme (the background) or google searching, nothing should be microsoft originals except maybe the idea (and those items that are originally supplied with freestyle anyway).

happy.gif so hopefully no problems.

I think it would be wonderful if we could commit everything into one SVN.

I think we will need to make sure it's accessible to people who want to contribute, i also believe that Googles SVN looks cleaner and offers a download location for updates. I am not sure how the rest of the community feels, but we have not had a lot of luck getting information or updates into the other SVN.

I am more than happy to add you (and you can add your changes) to the SVN i created, but in the end i will go with this the way the community wants it concluded.

Again if you want to join the google one, send me a PM with a google enabled email address...

The support is there we just don't have a way to download them with the indexer. As there is no set place to find that information.

Al you have to do is (depending on how they are installed) copy the images to the correct folder.

If they are XeX then copy the images to <device>:\fsdata\artwork\<application name>

I believe the images should be
boxart.jpg for boxart
ss<number>.jpg for screen shots, and just keep numbering them.
background.jpg for background
icon.jpg for icon (if icon doesn't exist it will take it from the file itself.)

then in the content.xml file edit the entry

      <images sscount='5' icon='1' boxart='1' background='1' />

sscount = the number of screen shots you had.
icon boxart and background are binary Boolean. 1 means the file exists 0 means it doesn't.

hope this helps.

Adding downloads for the updates would be a bad idea since it is built with the XDK. I would only host the source code if I were you.

And JQE I think he means in-game screenshots (like the emulators) which would likely not be possible since the game isn't being emulated by the dashboard.

I agree we couldn't do screenshots as our code stops running when the app loads.

But that being said he said "cover / screen " support which implies the cover art and screenshots for the application.

the only way to get IGS (in game screenshots) is to do like it was done on xbox1, inject sshot feature to the game xex (can be done by a permanent patch or maybe fake dlc or maybe "on the fly" patching (certainly hard to do) or add this function to the "guide menu" or add this feature to XBR like it was a debug nand image. (to use the xdk screenshot tool)

lot of way to get it but they are hard to do.

I found getting them in groups was unstable. If you want to do it the big thing is you have to define the size of your Temp variable

float temp[4];

not float * temp;

Is there a reason you want them in a group instead of individually?

i have grouped them because it's easier to animate all of them once and because they have a "loop" function
(changing CPUTemp > GPUTemp > etc > etc > get back to CPUTemp > GPUTemp)

i'm gonna try another method and hope this one will work without changing the float temp

can u include:

- rss news reader in the bottom, only in main menu (like xbmc) gives a more "active" dash smile.gif
- add media player icon? (for now only mp3 player would be available right? and maybe wmv)
- improve ftp (like xexmenu, active)

As much as I'd like to contribute to freestyle, I think I'm going to have to step aside.

What's checked into the SVN isn't compatible with MSDev 2008, nor is it compatible with the version of the XDK that I'm using (all of the video playing stuff is different in the newer XDK).  I ported everything last night so that I can build it on 2008, and fixed the video stuff...but if I check any of it in it will break everyone else...

At the same time, I put all of my ftp changes in:
No longer required to specify xbox IP.
Active and Passive both work.
drag and drop of files in ftp clients work now (the CD function in FTP was broken (not checking if path was valid), as well as CDUP/CD .. and various other things which confused FTP clients).
Speed improvements in ftp transfer to HDD (although USB got slower, so I'm still working on it).
Pay attention to user/password instead of allowing anything.
In general, ftp is basically "complete" now.

That being said...I don't know if I can check it in without breaking everyone, so I'll have to see which changes are in files which included "xmedia.h"...

I had some grand plans of merging in some of the XM360 functionality, but I think it's going to have to wait until everyone is on msdev 2008 and a newer XDK.

Great that you want to work on Freestyle Dash and want inclunde some of the XM360 functionality, which is a very great tool smile.gif

and to JQE

What would also be great for the indexer if it also checks the japanese Xbox Content cause for some games like Raiden Fighters Aces there are sceens that are missing in Freestyle Dash....

Great that you all continue this great Freestyle Dash!

wow masterrowen
till today i was using your aquatica style v3, cause its very cool (the best imo !)
but THIS kills all ! really nice look, cool icons and animations
i really like the switching between descr. and icons, and the way howto play previews
(its annoying if every preview started automatically if the game was choosed)

really like the NXE with the gamebackground, its just cool
thanks for your work here, the JTAG lets old times come back (xbox 1), maybe someone creates an avalaunch for the 360, that would be the greatest -> then i would use a style of masterrowen biggrin.gif

too bad, that my jtagged box gotta RROD tonight :'( hopefully the reballing brings it back2life ...

OK, first off I love this dashboard and the upcoming NXE theme will make it even more awesome.

My biggest question is:
Does running the FreeStyle Dash leave any trace on your gamer profile????

I would love this to boot up and be my main dashboard but I still use this box offline with my xboxlive profile and don't want to get my gamertag banned when I go back online with my unmodded box.

Thanks,

Wondering if it just me,The new freestyle dash xex or something with the Theme I am using..

Yesterday I had the 1.09 that displayed temps in the system info under freestyle CPU: 103 F GPU  about the same a little lower....

Today I install the new freestyle dash xex from the svn and the new Aquatica V4 so temps would display on main screen...

The problem I have is the temps are now showing

CPU: 176.2 F

GPU: 136.9 F

RAM: 137.9 F

MB:   89.6   F

When the 360 is just booted up...These temps to me seem to be a little on the high side A little too much...

Is this what others are getting or is it a bug that is showing wrong temps????

If you need more info ask and I will try to give it to you..

the dash shouldnt leave any traces, atleast in its current form.
but you should really get a seperate gamertag for your jtag box....

This is very nice. You think there would be anyway to get tabs to link to the normal NXE video/Music/Photo Libraries? That would be very nice. Then eventually hopefully these can be replaced with homebrew ones.

@developers:

The Megaupload link (from the project page) for the new build from today does not work. Could someone from the development team correct this? I really would like to download the new build.
An additional upload to Xbins would be appreciated. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

TIA

Jbonzo, n3o was responding to maesterrowen's skin. That skin became the base skin for FSD 2.0

Yeah i know that.. but i was asking about his own xedesk skin. With all the drama surrounding the "leak" of xedesk on spiffy360 i just wanted to ask if he had canned the project like he had threatened.
