XM360 v0.4Posted by XanTium | January 22 12:13 EST | News Category: Xbox360 |
| |
Team XeDev released a new version of XM360:
This includes all of the features of XBLA Unlocker previously released by dstruktiv. The additional "Collection Management" is contributed by node21.
What's new/fixed (v0.4) * Added ability to launch titles directly from the Scan list, or the Collection Manager List (for titles that you actually have) [use the A button] * added support for multiple usb devices being connected * More information is added the the resulting xbla_report.txt so you can choose to ignore missing titles that are rated very low. * Some titleIds are intentionally duplicated since they exist in the wild, but aren't on the MS web site. You should simply "Ignore" (with the X button) the versions that you don't have (assuming you care about such things)

Glad you like it.
Moving this comment over from the 0.3 thread:
There is a new known issue with 0.4... Super Contra has two IDs...but one of them is identical to Rocket Riot. So it gets mixed up between those two titles...I'll address it in the next release.

mmm, if ever i could find it!!!
-
hmm, i looked in the "usual" (*bins) places in dashboards and found nothing.. Help? Where is it? is it only at (*sky)?
-
is there any way to make this a g.o.d container?

please correct me if I'm wrong.
This allows you to play XBLA games directly from USB? Or must they still be copied over to 360 main hdd?
-
found it !
Cheers! and thanks!

on searching
I found this
QUOTE
Version 0.2:
*Added version display to screen
*Search 3 different paths for installed XBLA titles
* hdd:\\Content\000000000000000
* usb:\\Content\000000000000000
* usb:\\360dashit\\Content\000000000000000
I've tried copying the relevant folders to both the 2 usb folders....but XM360 v0.4 does not see them?? It only seems to see the ones I copy to the standard hdd?
FWIW I have xm360v0.4 in folder usb:\\apps\xm360v0.4\
Any ideas why it won't work - and can anyone confirm if xbla games can indeed be played from USB? (both within xm360 and from the dash)
Also the drive for me is USB0: as reported in xexmenu (using temporarily in front of console while get to grips with transferring etc before switch to larger hdd with docking station in the back ports

* MAKE SURE that you delete your old xbla_titles.csv on the root of your USB drive if you have one there
* New script to recreate the database is included, but it take *MUCH* *MUCH* longer to run if you need to run it (you should only need it once a week or so when new titles are released, if you care to be that up-to-date)
How do you recreate the database/run script? Great tool, works great!
Edit: I think I got it to work. Just run the .pl? Where is the database file created?

I have the same problem as Midnight Tboy: Games on USB harddisk aren't seen...
-
The paths it searches are in the README file.
Not sure what to say about titles not being found on USB. I have confirmed cases of it working fine, even on multiple USB devices connected at the same time (USB0: and USB1:).
As far as launching titles...it will launch them from where ever they are located, so, if they are on USB, they will be launched from USB. This also is confirmed working.
Running the script is also described in the README file. Execute the perl script, and redirect its output to a file. Yes, it connects to the MS marketplace website and scrapes it...it can take a few minutes to complete. Run it on Thursdays after XBLA titles are released on Wednesday. ;-)

just had thought - my hdd is in 2 partitions - first active partition being a fat32 partition with the main data on. 2nd partition a bootable bartpe fat16 partition - wonder if the 2 partitions on one drive could be related?
-
usb:\\360dashit\\Content\000000000000000
on my FAT32 320Gb usb drive is not seen... (plugged in on the rear USB)
-
since we can launch XBLA arcade games from this program.. does that mean we can launch a game from a USB drive?
-
thank you... nice tool
-
problem spotted I think....
guide I saw (granted for 0.2) said to put folder to 000000000000000 . Thats 15 0's. On looking at the log it looks in 0000000000000000 . Thats 16 0's - about to retry now with 16
nope - made that extra 0 - still no difference (we are talking zero's aren't we - and not O)
-
I tried to test this but It doesn't work for me.
Just like it happens with nxe2god the application just refuses to start.
I have freeboot in a cygnoed falcon xbox. Am I missing some patching step or something?
Best regards,
Jur.

Sorry, I didn't realize that log file was from AFTER you had fixed the number of zeroes issue.
The log file is clearly looking for the right folders.
My best guess is that you don't have anything located exactly where it is looking. For example:
usb0:\Content\0000000000000000\*
usb0:\360dashit\Content\0000000000000000\*
usb1:\Content\0000000000000000\*
usb1:\360dashit\Content\0000000000000000\*
usb2:\Content\0000000000000000\*
usb2:\360dashit\Content\0000000000000000\*
if it couldn't mount any of those, it would say so. It is succeeding, and not finding any files there...
-
stupid question, i can only find the version with the xex file and the media folder etc. not the one that goes in codexxxx/0000800 whatever. i cant get this app to show up where ever i put on the hdd

I haven't released it packaged like that. Mostly because I can't be bothered (and I'm not really sure how to!). You can make a quicklaunch icon for it so you can launch it from the dash directly.
-
working great in a live container, ill upload it and give node the link and maybe he can get the live container version uploaded to the usual places. give me 10min and ill have it uploaded. you just put it in same folder with xexmenu.
edit: live container version link sent to node21, maybe he can uploaded somewhere.

sorry - my bad...the log was from the time before the extra 0. With the extra zero in it didnt see anything still - but admittedly I only used the non debug version.
Can try again with correct folders in place tho if wish of course

Please do...At the end, where it is searching for USB mounts, it should find something!

will do...just extracting a bunch of files at the mo.
Will leave the 360 hdd disconnected for now and launch it off disc (as got xplorer360 injecting files to the hdd now).
Sooooooo...
I'm now starting fresh and creating the folder
usb:\Content\0000000000000000
inside that folder I have copied across Assault Heroes
the folder is 584107FE which has a 000D0000 folder within it and the file E1081DE82E8223C43487C384ED1D3413F05C373B inside there.....
as such....
usb:\Content\0000000000000000\584107FE\000D0000\E1081DE82E8223C43487C384ED1D3413F05C373B
in similar fashion to how it would be on the 360s hdd
will post log in few mins
----
aha - it's worked this time!
But it didn't seem to like it in the 360dashit folder like it was before.
I'll now put some files in a 360dashit folder to see what happens
---
while doing that, could it be that when the 360 hdd is in and sees folders of games, it doesnt bother to look elsewhere? and therefore seeing it because my hdd is currently unplugged
right....same thing now
keeping Assault Heroes in the usb\content folder...
but now created
usb:\360dashit\Content\0000000000000000\58410850\000D0000
which holds the file for Battlezone
......
yup - it does see that too
that is usb0 its running off fwiw.
Could be some truth in it stopping past the 360s own hdd check perhaps?
Got my 360 hdd in bits at mo tho doing transfer so can't test that at mo
-
No, hdd shouldn't interfere...
It searches 7 places total:
hdd:
usb0: (2x, regular and dashit)
usb1: (2x)
usb2: (2x)
Glad it seems to be working for you now.
-
cheers mate.
Will try it again in the morning (2:30am here) when the hdd is reattached and see what happens

You have to be running XBREBOOT, Freeboot won't work with either program.
I had the same problem with my Cygnos, so I am now running xbreboot on it and everything just works.

I found the problem with XM360 0.4 not discovering my demos: the archive-bit of the directories must not be set on the harddisk!
That solved the problem.
Nice program... Hope to see some game-pictures in the future.

greetings,
how do you mean 'archive-bit'? How do I change/set this?

Is anybody else having problems with FTP'ing. I can ftp to my 360 but when I create folders, I can't put anything in them... The transfer always fails.

Even in Windows systems, files and directories have attributes like read-only, hidden... One of them in archive (possibly "ready for archiving" in XP). You can change them in file properties, access them with a right click.
-
I have one small problem at the moment, the not locating around 15 of my arcades games(all in the original folder from downloading from xbl), so it cannot unlock them. Any tip to help solve this
-
Ah well my archive bits weren't set anyway so that wasn't my issue.
I've finally finished transferring a boat load of stuff to the main hdd, so I'll reassemble that and then in a bit put another xbla game into the relevant folder at same time to see if its picked up this time round.
I'm just wondering though. I was about to try 'scraping' for the updates. I see you need perl installing.
looking here http://www.perl.org/get.html which version of perl is it I need to get? Strawberry Perl?
Also.... when it does scrape the MS site for xbla title info, does it get all countries xbla titles, or just USA specific? As theres a couple of titles if I'm thinking right, that you can get in US that you can't in the UK, and presumably vice versa?
-
hmmm nope thats not it - ok - I need to do some searching
how do I create a perl script lol
---
tried on the offchance copying the perl.exe from the strawberry perl installer and its dll to the folder and then running it - but get the error
Can't locate strict.pm in @INC (@INC contains: C:\strawberry\perl\vendor\lib .)
at scrapeMS.pl line 2.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at scrapeMS.pl line 2.
guess I'm going totally the wrong way about it
-
tried Kodu Game Lab but it won't unlock or show up? Is that not compatable I take it with xm360?
-
I have a few suggestions that are easy to do I guess:
1. Add a filter that shows all Arcade titles found but not on the csv list.
2. Divide the ranking by 4, so it shows the score like on the xbox website. (20 = 20/4 = 5 out of 5)
3. When sorting on ranking, show the best titles on top. Also consider the amount of votes.
When 2 games have same score, then the game with most votes will be the 'better' one.
QUOTE

It's not on the csv list, so it won't show up and therefor can't be unlocked in XM360. (see my point 1.)
-
In XM360 - with nearly all demos on the 360 hdd, it says there are 296 files.
But in the xbox dashboard it says there are 271 and in the csv there are 276 files? Any idea how to find out where the extra 20 are from? Could it be addon packs or something? Tried to browse through but can't see anything obvious
-
Couple of answers:
Use active-state perl. I didn't try with strawberry (but it should work). Follow the README. For now, it is hardcoded to go after the US marketplace...it might be simple to change the script, though.
The part where you "Scan" and then "Unlock" never looks at the scraped database...everything that is found is able to be unlocked...assuming it passed the internal tests of being an XBLA title.
I'm busy working on a version that scales so non-1080 360s can play too.
-
cheers - downloading active perl to try now
What I mean with within xm360 though....is that xm360 finds about 20 MORE 'xbla' titles than the 360 main dashboard even discovers...not the other way round. and thats with nothing held on the usb hdd. Surely then there should be an equal amount showing on the main dashboard?
-

The work you guys are doing is great keep it up this is nice. But to be quite honest. Why not jus add this stuff to normal dash? Im sure it isnt that "easy" but theres not much wrong with the dash that couldnt be tweeked.
Layouts colors, buttons all at your disposal. Jus add these programs as Apps. You guys are talented and could do better with a big head start like the stock dash. Thats all im saying think about it

this looks good, just need to find somewere i can get every arcade game trail from lol, and its not even better i can have them on a usb hard drive

Great app, many thanks.
What would be great would the ability to lauch unlocked titles directly from NXE but are stored on a USB hard drive.
I have just downloaded 18 gigs worth!

Ha!, I actually had the same issue... That's why, in version 0.5, the resulting report file also includes titles that you "HAVE", and the full path to those titles. What I found, after adding that information, was that I had some of my titles one extra level deep in the folder structure on the internal HDD. XM360 will happily search for them, and it does find them...and I can even launch them....but the NXE dash can't see them. The report let me fix the ones that had that problem. :-)

Um, maybe because Microsoft hasn't responded to our requests for the source code for the NXE dash?

Edits, renaming, changing shortcuts, alterations. None of which require source code. Guess the challenge is intimidating.Funny unleash didnt use need source code

Aha that could make sense perhaps. Hope you plan to release 0.5 soon so I can test it out and tidy it up. I may be that I downloaded some demos from miscellaneous sites. A couple of games didnt show up so downloaded them elsewhere, and got them back...but in some cases I did see that a folder gameid# already existed inside the 0000000000000000 folder, so when spotted deleted the one that didnt seem to work and put the working version in. So looks like just a bit of housecleaning to do once got hold of your new version
On another tangent...I'm struggling with Super Contra...kinda.
I'm not at home at the moment, so can't remember the numbers, but I know theres 2 versions of Super Contra. One which has a cc at the end of the game id.
XM360 reported that I was missing the OTHER super contra file (the one that doesnt end in CC)
So I downloaded it from elsewhere and put it in the folder. Still only 1 super contra listed and xm360 still reports I'm missing the same file, but seems to think I have the cc one.
I've searched a little and did see that rocket riot uses the same folder name for some strange reason....so think I need to check if I have 2 files in that folder or something - so maybe delete that rocketriot/supercontra folder and try it again
-
Hi node, thanks a lot for your work on this tool. Do you plan to add support for non-1080p screens in your next release? That would be great.
-
If theres any way to verify the crc of the xbla games that would be perfect.
As I've just realised when trying the demo of Serious Sam out, that there is no icon on the dashboard for selecting the game. Which makes me wonder if I need to get the demo from a better source....as I've been reading over the last few hours and I see lots of games seem to get leaked from places such as PartnerNet early and could be alpha builds etc which want to avoid really, especially as that could have problems such as buggy code killing consoles, on top of other simple things like screwing up your profile cos of it having history of an official aswell as the leaked version in the profile which never intended to use.. Shame we can't just download them directly the demos from ms's servers

According to Kingla's archive, Super Contra and Rocket Riot don't share a folder name:
CODE
5841081a Super Contra
584108CC Rocket Riot
May I ask what's the full folder name where you're experiencing the collision?

in the csv file, both the one in the package, and when freshly scraped with the perl script, there is reference to 2 Super Contra's
5841081a 25/07/2007 14 1688 Super Contra
584108cc 25/07/2007 14 1688 Super Contra
Wolfenstein 3d, I know there is 2 versions of that game, one I think was for german release..so guessing it must be similar reason for Super Contra too.
I don't have access to my 360 until later tonight or tomorrow now (bloody kids have pinched it!!), but I believe that in the 584108cc folder I have the Rocket Riot game, and in the 5841081a I definately have the Super Contra game.
However the missing title report only shows me as missing the file Super Contra (5841081a), which I find odd seeing as that one is definately there.
Best way I can check when get console back is delete both the Super Contra and Rocket Riot folders, then generate the report again to see if its showing all 3 as missing, then put in each one by one

There isn't a definitive source of the CRCs that I know of...but my understanding is that they (the developer?) really did forget to include an icon in Serious Sam.

584108cc 25/07/2007 14 1688 Super Contra
So, in version 0.4 I specifically add 3 title ids. Check the scrapeMS.pl file to see them...they are pretty clear. However, it turns out that Soduko and Wolfenstein are the only 2 where this will work...Super Contra is just plain f*cked. You see, XM360 reads the titleIDs from *inside* the package...not the directory it is in (since you can put them just about anywhere...) The problem is that Super Contra's internal ID *does not always match* Super Contra's title ID as described my Microsoft on the marketplace web site...
-
Yes, there definitely is something weird with Super Contra. Even here it reports as missing but it's definitely there.
About the non-1080p issue, I understand you do work in 1080p so this will sound sub-optimal to you, but do you think you could make the whole app 720p, which would also work acceptably on 1080p?

Thanks for the quick reply! Yeah exactly I'm looking at a bunch of my Rock Band DLC now and scratching my head at how on earth I can quickly go through and work out what they are and what's missing, could be a long day!

version 0.5 is out [IRC release, not posted in the usual places yet] (beta testing seems good so far)
No major changes...but it now supports all screen resolutions.
I forgot to fix the super contra issue (not that there is a good solution, anyway...).
DLC is next on my list.

Thanks for your work on resolutions. About Super Contra, would it be a reasonable solution to decide that the game version where the internal ID matches the title ID is good and the other one is bad and ignored or somehow flagged?

No, since I have yet to see one where the internal ID is correct.

version 0.5 is out [IRC release, not posted in the usual places yet] (beta testing seems good so far)
No major changes...but it now supports all screen resolutions.
I forgot to fix the super contra issue (not that there is a good solution, anyway...).
DLC is next on my list.
that's wicked... will give the new one a shot tomorrow.
Really excited about there being some sort of DLC manager, especially if it can show it sorted in sections etc, based on game and such further down the line....sounds like a mammoth task though, especially when you get to the music games (maybe best to leave the music ones til last
)
So what actually happens then if I may ask, when xbox stop selling certain games (I know theres been at least 1 or 2 games since withdrawn but dont remember for life of me what they were)....would they then no longer scrape?....and therefore not show up as missing titles on the console?
QUOTE

how do you mean? You mean that the only files you've seen online are ones that have been tampered with/yarisswapped already so unable to see a true id before tamper?
-
to partially answer my question about games that have since been removed...
a few games here have been "delisted"
http://en.wikipedia....ve_Arcade_games
Lost cities
double dragon
Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe
yaris
EA Sports Fantasy Football Live Draft Tracker
EA Sports Fantasy Football Live Score Tracker
Can confirm that they're NOT scraped so dont show up as missing titles.
Mind I can understand most of them things being delisted, especially the EA Sports thing....but speedball and double dragon are classics...sheesh
Could it be possible to have it automatically append those titles to the csv after pulling off a new scrape?

Simple to do...see scrapeMS.pl (you'll have to fake the rating and the release date)

First thanks for this great little app.
Do you also gonna support Indie games / Unofficial releases or only official "US" XBLA releases?
By DLC support do you mean DLC only for XBLA games or for all DLC. I ask this since I only use this app for managing my XBLA collection on my Xbox 360 seeing DLC for Xbox 360 games may clutter the purpose of the app in my opinion..I see the purpose of XM360 (PC version) as content manager but not so much for your version of XM360. I see this app more as XBLA loader or like as you describe as "Collection Manager". Maybe a separate app for those people who want to manage their content on the Xbox 360 instead of on the PC. What's the opinion of others about this? Thx

I think the US site scraping actually may pick up any non-US details.
For example there is 2 versions of buku sudoku. One of them has japanese writing on the MS dashboard when its installed.
Don't suppose you know the name of any japanese specific releases do you, if any exist?

No, since I have yet to see one where the internal ID is correct.
I took a look at a container for this game and found that in ArcadeInfo.xml (I assume that's where you're reading the internal ID) and it says
CODE
which is the binary form of 5841081a, which in turn seems to be the "official" ID as seen on xbox.com.
@node21, what do you think of this? Is ArcadeInfo.xml the place where you read the ID? And is it there that you found values different from 1480656922?

I don't read any XML... at offset 0x360 (coincidence?) in the package is the titleID. Maybe that is where ArcadeInfo.xml ends up? I dunno.

Got it. I took another look at the Super Contra container and the ID at offset 0x360 is the correct one: 5841081A. So I simply got the "right" version of the game?
Also, I wouldn't mind getting the same PM xkilla7680 got.

i gave 0.5 a shot the left side seems to still be a little off i can only see the last half of the left side where the options are at. the list is showing up almost fine it cuts off the lock and unlock symbols but it doubles up some titles that i have on both my official hdd and my 1tb connected through usb.The doubling up thing i can fix by just removing the titles from the hdd. Great work though i have some dlc content as well if you need help on that end too.
-
You must be running 480i? That's basically the lowest possible. And it sounds like you have some overscan issues as well. Can't really cram it any smaller...at least it is somewhat usable for you now...I didn't have any way to test this other than on my 65" HDTV...I tried settings as low as 480i, but the TV upscales everything, so I can't really tell what it will ultimately look like. The tool used to lay this out will show me the "safe zone" for 480i, and I think I intentionally ignored it as it is just too small to lay out the data that needs to be presented in this format...I could probably change the layout so that the buttons are on the top or bottom, and the list takes up the entire width, but I probably won't bother.
As far as the duplicates...well...it sounds like you have duplicates!

Ah, that's simple...I'll put it in the next version.
I just finished writing the scraper for DLC title IDs from the Marketplace. There are LOTS and LOTS of them...
So, first I have to come up with a reasonable way to display them...And it's possible that even loading in the data will take a while. We'll see what I can come up with...
I've looked into the code for patching DLC, and plan to implement that soon...that way there can be a release that patches DLC before the Collection Manager for DLC is released.

that's simply awesome node21 mate, and we really appreciate your work
There's obviously various ways to manage XBLA content, and I really like using your app over the other manual methods....but once DLC is on then it will be kick ass awesome.
Again with DLC mind, I wonder if there is any DLC that USED to be available that has since been removed just like the delisted xbla titles.
Now stop reading and get your arse into gear and code that 0.6
Also....I'm just wondering how some RB DLC shows up where it might be duplicated.
For example I believe there are some David Bowie songs....that you can buy seperately....or alternative you can buy a David Bowie Song Pack which has 3 or 4 songs or so on it - so wonder if its able to distinguish if you own the 3 songs seperate, as to being the same thing as owning the Pack

No, this will be the classic problem. An album has a unique titleID from the songs...so, if you have the album, it will look like you are missing the individual songs... But that's what the "ignore" feature is for.
-
while I've been going through process of swapping my 120gb drive for a 320gb one, I believe i've found why xm360 may have been showing so many more than there was in the list.
While I was extracting the contents from partition 3 with xplorer360, I had an error message (can't remember exact message).
On checked through, in the \\Content\0000000000000000 directory....there were some subdirectories with matching names.
eg,
\\Content\0000000000000000\584109D5
and another
\\Content\0000000000000000\584109D5
Obviously on the pc this causes problems with xplorer360 trying to extract the contents to a temp folder before copying to the destination folder as it would try to overwrite an identical file.
Looking inside these folders on xplorer360 and both contents are showing up as if the data is in there too.
the question is how did the data get duplicated (IMG:style_emoticons/default/uhh.gif)
I'm thinking the first couple of them may have been when I was first trying out xexmenu...and then finding out that Cut and Paste don't work....perhaps its then attempted and failed and maybe left over a corrupt/empty file behind.
The main thing I think has happened.....I downloaded the demos in a few batches....and so copied them over in a few batches.....mostly with xplorer 360 and some within xexmenu. Some games may have been duplicated in each batch too
Whichever one its been has obviously though decided not to overwrite the data, but to somehow manage to write to the mft or somewhere a duplicate folder name...and so screwing it up.
As a result I had to extract the sodding partition C bit by bit, leaving out any of the duplicates to retransfer again later.....so presumably once this is done - the number xm360 finds should match or closely match the number showing on the dashboard
soooo...moral of the story is.....if the numbers dont seem right - check your folders in the 0000000000000000 for duplicate folder entries

So, a quick update.
I've implemented the "fixed" yaris swap which works for XBLA and DLC (although titles which were already Yaris swapped with the old way can't be "fixed").
I've implemented the code to search for, and identify all DLC that you have.
But here's the problem... DLC *doesn't have* a unique titleID. This means that the only way to do any sort of "Collection Management" is to compare the actual "title". That is *bound* to have problems...especially when it comes to titles with foreign characters in them.
I'm going to proceed along the lines of getting a release 0.6 out that supports locating and patching of DLC.
Collection management will come after that, if I can come up with a reasonable way to do it...

what is the actual problem with titles that have been yaris swapped? Some don't work? I've read that the yaris swapper doesnt work with DLC content and have seen, but not looked at yet, the other alternative DLC Patcher tools.....is it just meaning if you try to patch a DLC with yarisswapper, it would have messed the file up so no longer work...and as a result unable to unpatch..therefore have to redownload the DLC content and try again?

My understanding is that only forza DLC could have been broken. I don't know what other unlocking applications used to do that was "wrong", but I think it boils down to this. There are 4 bytes that make up the "content flags". Applications which were trying to "unlock" just went ahead and wrote 0x00000001 there to "unlock" it.
However, in the case of DLC, those 4 bytes are actually lots of flags...and stomping 0x00000001 on top of it isn't the right thing to do. (and you can't "fix" it, since the value that was there is "gone")
Furthermore, there are 16 slots of licenses, not just one.
Unfortunately, I don't have a good way of testing this code...so there is certainly a possibility that it could "ruin" things. I'd suggest having a backup of your DLC before trying it. ;-) I have eyeballed it, and will test it on the little DLC that I have, but that's as good as I can do.
-
cheers for explaining it better

I have a fair few bits of DLC (Rock Band and some individual game addon packs - some which have been patched already and some that still need to get round to patching). Not tried any of them yet tho lol.....been sorting the old hdd out still - and transferring the old 120gb drive that i've swapped out to an external shell for work use (seeing as used the work 320gb drive in there now
)
I'll be sure to keep a backup of everything on the pc until can tell everything is working fine or not. Sounds like got a helluva job on your hands there

Well, I worked for many hours yesterday...during most of which I had software that didn't even compile. You see, adding DLC properly has led me down a path that is mostly a very large re-write of the code. When I wrapped it up last night, I was back to the functionality of the original XBLA Unlocker by Dstruktiv. So, it scans, presents the list, and allows you to unlock (except now the unlock code is the updated DLC aware unlock.)
However, during the scan it also keeps track of all DLC content that it finds along the way...So, my next steps (starting tomorrow, as I won't have any time today) are to go back and make sure that the collection manager still works with XBLA titles as it did before. There's likely to be something broken in there after the rewrite, and it's likely to take some real time to fix it all (not having an xbox devkit makes this stuff really hard to get right...)
By the weekend, I hope to have put in some real time and be able to release something that at least allows you to browse your DLC, and unlock it. Collection Management for DLC comes after that (still based on the assumption that it is do-able without unique titleIDs for DLC).

I don't envy that job - but amazed you've got as far as you have so far with sorting out DLC collections as it must be a HUUUUGGEEEEE list, and not well organised to find I expect.
Have a good rest then come back with a fresh head and get coding
Need anyone to test the files then we're here

I'm sure you already know it too anyhows - but don't forget - a lot of DLC in order for it to work tends to need certain updates installing to the cache folder too

Not much I can do about that. All I can do is see what DLC I find after searching...there's no way to know whether it will work or not... It's a lot like the XBLA XNA titles. You might have them, but they're not going to work (since they require a live connection).
As far as collecting and organizing all available DLC...the marketplace already does it for me. :-) I just scrape it from them. Presenting it is another matter, and I've yet to figure out how to do it.

Dstruktiv and I *are* working together. It's no coincidence that they share the same name...
He's off working on the new look/feel dashboard replacement (the hard work, as far as I'm concerned!), while I'm busy with the idea of collection management. You can be sure that anything I add into the existing one will be handed off to Dstruktiv for inclusion once he is ready for release. I have very little time to commit to 360 development, so I'm happy to work on the small things. ;-)

Well now you got XM360 (PC version / Content manager) / your XM360 (based on XBLA unlocker with added Collection / content manger) and now XM360 as replacement dashboard (with build-in content manager?) all with the same name but different apps..kinda confusing, right? I meant with working "together" more like concentrating on one app or better dash.. But seeing your answer you were allready doing that..Sorry and thanks for the hard work!

@node: A quick note about v0.5.
I usually have a USB HDD connected to my 360 and I use a flash drive to move stuff, try new things etc. (FTP not working here yet, gotta try a different cable).
Anyway, in Xexmenu the HDD gets Usb0 and the flash drive gets Usb1. Previously, when I ran xm360 from the flash drive, the report and exclude files were written in the root of the flash drive itself. Now, with v0.5, they were written in the root of the USB HDD (I guess because it's the "first" connected USB device). Of course it's a reeeeally small issue, but... was it intentional? Could you revert this behaviour? Thanks, as always.
-
As far as I know, there's no way for me to know which is which...
What it does is find the first USB device that it can, and writes to that one...
CODE
XU::unMap("usb:");
if (XU::Map("usb:","\\Device\\Mass0") != S_OK ) {
if (XU::Map("usb:","\\Device\\Mass1") != S_OK ) {
if (XU::Map("usb:","\\Device\\Mass2") != S_OK ) {
return;
}
}
}
-
Hmm, so the strange behaviour was to write to my flash drive, even though (at least according to Xexmenu, but also in plugging order) it was device 1 and the USB HDD was device 0?
-

Yes, I assume so. That code hasn't changed. I really can't think of a precise way of placing the report file. Unless I first look for some *other* file to see if it exists as a sort-of target marker? If I can't find the target file, then I could revert to "write to the first USB drive I can mount."
-
MY biggest problem is downloading the arcade games. Is it safe to take my JTAG console's hard drive then plug it in my stock xbox hop on live and download my games? It just makes it really easy because then i never have to worry about moving folders with random hex names, i just download using my stock xbox then use xm360 to unlock them on my JTAG'd xbox. Or is there a better way that i am clearly no seeing for obtaining xbox live arcade games? Thanks!
-
Got it, instead I had assumed the app had some kind of awareness of the device it was running from and wrote its files there. Anyway, as I already said I would prefer it that way, but it's such a small thing that I'm not sure it's worth implementing explicitly.

Status update on version 0.6.
Last night, after quite a bit of work, I got a version to display DLC in an acceptable format. It just needs a little bit of cleanup, and some testing of the "unlock" code, and then it should be ready for release. Maybe even as early as this evening.
After that, I can start thinking about collection management for DLC.

Yes, DLC is loaded by a game automatically.
This first release will let you see what DLC you have, and unlock it.
This brings up an interesting question...
When I scan for XBLA titles, I search everywhere (well, you know what I mean). Since, afterall, XBLA titles can be *used* from anywhere (launched).
When it comes to DLC that doesn't really make much sense, does it? Titles are only ever going to look for DLC on the internal hdd:, right? So, should I restrict scanning for DLC to the internal hdd:, or do you want to see it even if it is elsewhere, even though it won't work?
I could always spit out a dlc_report.txt file that lists DLC that was found in the "wrong" place, and therefore wont work. Is that likely to be useful?
Anyway...I just made the mistake of working on XM360 version 0.6 for about 2 hours while at work...The problem with that is that the 360 is miles away...So, while I know that it compiles, it's very likely that I've broken something again...that makes a release for tonight less likely. It was in terrible need of a massive clean-up, and re-working. That's done now, so I only have to get it to work once again. :-) It is now feature complete for the next release...just gotta get it bug-free.
-
my opinion is that it only should lookup in internal HDD.

that's the only way it's playable.
also we can know if all is uploaded the right way that way.
-
I agree - only look from the internal hdd - no point trying to cater for every persons peculiar tastes if someone insists they keep it stored elsewhere even tho useless - else they'll next want it scanning their pc hdd shared folders via ftp access too or something
Kept simpler the better - could always look at that way down line in future if they work a way to load them from USB.
On other note - any idea how this will work with Lips dlc? From what I can gather on reading - aswell as the actual dlc, it looks like an xml file may have to be created for each entry too (could be wrong tho)
-
sorry the stupid question but where do u guys put DLC files? wich folder

I don't know anything about Lips DLC. I'll have to get some and try it out.
That being said...XM360 can't do anything about any extra requirements. For example, if some DLC needs a TU to work, there's no way for me to know that. Either you have it, or you don't. At least knowing that you have it, and that it is installed correctly...if it doesn't work, it's probably a TU issue.

That would/will make sense if/when DLC is actually usable from different places, so I would give it a pretty low priority right now.

sorry, i figured it out a few hours ago. thank you anyway.

version 0.6 is out, and ready for beta testing...if you have an old link, you should be able to find it.
After I get some feedback, I'll get it to the usual places.
For completeness sake:
=-=-=-=-=
Version 0.5 --
* Added support for all screen resolutions
* Added button to return to dash. This might take a bit of time since this is when it writes the report file to the USB stick. This also means that if you exit via the center X on the controller, the report won't get written (unless you had clicked on Scan, which exits the Collection Manager and also causes it to write the report)
* Added titles that you have, and that are excluded to new sections of the report. The Have titles include their full path. This can help you figure out why NXE can't see them, but XM360 can.
=-=-=-=-=
Version 0.6 -- Jan 30th, 2010
* Massive rewrite to support DLC (so, expect some bugs)
* Supoort for viewing your installed DLC, and unlocking it
* layout isn't great, but it works well enough for now
* the button to unlock DLC *only* affects the DLC currently listed. So, if you want to unlock it all, make sure you have selected the <All> category
* the xbla_report.txt is written any time you exit the Collection Manager, so expect it to be a little slow. I'll probably add a button for the next release.
* Include "hdd:\\360dashit\\Content\\0000000000000000" as a source of XBLA files
* When sorting by ratings, higher number of raters counts for more. Also, highest ratings are at the top now, not the bottom
-enjoy

excellent - thank you.
I'll start testing it out bit by bit in a couple of hours when get chance.
i haven't even tried out any DLC yet (well other than Peggle Nights which I unlocked manually) to the jtagged box.....
so I'll test it out first with it looking at files already unlocked manually then start adding more different types of locked dlc into equation to see what happens.
Does it also show up missing DLC or is that still to come? Expect that report file will be quite large
-
I've got one report that the Collection Manager doesn't work...but it works fine for me...looking forward to more reports.
I've pretty much given up on super contra. That titles is just not normal. I may go back and consider it some more, but not until the more important things are done.
Version 0.6 has no knowledge of available DLC, so there is no report yet.
-
First test...
copied over Soul Calibur 4 game to run off hdd
Also copied over locked darth vader costume DLC, a few more XBLA games, and pre-unlocked Pinball FX DLC.
It's worked champion unlocking darth vader DLC
Also....I had 2 usb devices connected, USB0 and USB1. USB1 held xm360 on it which I ran it from. USB0 was the main hdd holding 360 games etc.
I connected the USB1 hdd back to the pc, and there was no report file.
But I checked afterwards the USB0 that was still in xbox - and it has put the report file onto that drive instead but at least its working, and listing the missing XBLA titles and currently have titles.
Any possible way to keep the report file to the same hdd it was run from? Other than that can't seem to fault it - interface is still quite tidy.
Was pleasantly surprised to see the indie games stuff listed too - which unlocked the Kodu Game Lab I had on there - though I see that game refuses to run anyway without being signed in to live..doh
Be interesting to see what happens with Forza DLC though I need to find out the best way to get that copied across (ie - how/what to do with disc 2 - presume prob just case of copying over cd1 to usb hdd, then letting the installer install disk 2 straight from CD? Unless a way to have it auto load the files from the disk 2 folder on a usb hdd?)
Also, with Lips, I'll start it copying over soon, and getting a couple of DLC tracks added and see what happens there, and look into that XML file thing that I read was needed. As far as I recollect I think people were only managing to get them working on Lips Number One Hits and not the standard Lips....and could get them to show up, but having hard time getting to play without the xml or whatever file it was associated with it. Maybe if the format of the xml creation is the same it could be set to be done from within the unlocker too perhaps.
-
okay, 0.6 had a bug where it would launch the wrong titles from the collection manager.
Grab 0.6b instead. (it's in the usual place now)
Also, if the collection manager is crashing on you, see if you have an old xbla_titles.csv on the root of one of your devices...it might be in the wrong format. remove it (rename, or delete) and let xm360 use the one that is with the .xex.

would it be possible to get the collection manager as a windows-application? would be nice....

It's possible, but I'm not writing it. Anyway, what would it scan? I guess nowadays it could connect to the 360 over the network...
-
yes, like freestyle 1.3, it has FSindexer, it's opensource i think
-
better to perfect the program intended to begin with with optimal layout etc before start adding other versions and tools into the equation - then add them later once everything seems spot on. And anyway if this component is going to eventually be merged with the xm360 dash then all that will probably be more likely to come anyways when integrated
So far I haven't had any problems with a couple of dlc items, mostly xbla so far..... just been transferring over Lips Number One Hits, and need to dig out Rock Band (when work out which one all the dlc I have is for), and will attempt at copying a boat load of RB stuff in one go, and a lips track 1 at a time to see what story is on them xmls
On tangent though I see theres also a tool called Rock Band Downloadable Content Sorter out - think it is pc based....may help to sort out those RB tracks before start moving them across to the 360 - as I know my RB folder is currently a mess
-
ignore my earlier rantings about lips dlc needing some sort of xml file.
Been reading a little bit about it and turns out thats only needed for when people for some reason want to make the tracks from the disc based games work as if they were DLC (such as the german version etc with some exclusive tracks etc

It would be nice to scan local drive (PC) with xbla-content and check, if that content is OK or whats missing

Can you post a link to where I can find this Rock Band Downloadable Content Sorter? Got nothing from google.
Have you been able to unlock and play the DLC using XM360?
-
pm sent as not sure if linking to some other external sites are allowed

The tool for that has been out longer than Xm360 it's called XBLA Sorter or unlocker or something like that actually I think there's a couple. If you can't find any in the usual places let me know and I'll post one (Maybe) I would drag-up a link etc.. for you but I'm sorry I really don't have the time right now besides I'm sure you'll find it if you look.
On another issue:
I've had probs (as have others) with ver 0.8 playing wrong games from collection menu(edit:ver0.9 is not on/in usual((xbin)) place)
.
Also it would be nice If one could copy/move their DLC around. Also I found the DLC menu a little hard to follow, perhaps in the 'All' menu (we I personally think shouldn't be the default filter) that u could put an Icon next to content that exists on hdd locally (like the lock/unlock icon) that way when ur looking at all the availible content u can see what u already have on that drive.
Keep Up the quality work, All of us AGM guys LOVE ur App!!!!
Dan -
PS: A scan on startup enable/disable option with a manual scan option would be cool also but I think the copy function is the most usefull as Xexmenu etc. only have the hex folder ID instead of the ASCII name that makes it a bit of a pain to have to write/print hex names when moving stuff around eg. Download on one box, play on another.

The location for 0.9 can be found in the newer thread on 0.7. It fixes all known issues in 0.8.
I'm not sure I understand what you are saying about moving DLC around...DLC has to be where it has to be...Otherwise, it won't work. (Unless you are talking about XBLA?)
The DLC menu is quite a bit better in version 0.9. And yes, it probably makes more sense to default to the view of the content that you have rather than everything...I'll put that in.
The reason that it automatically scans on startup is because there isn't a single feature of this app that works without scanning...and I got tired of hitting the scan button every time I launched it while testing!

ok i followed the link, i downloaded the latest update. they were all region free. i installed it to the cache on my 360 HDD and it shows up in xm360. But it still wont show in the game? One thing I have noticed is that in xm360 all of my TU's are followed with a # then a number. But the lips TU was 3a without any #?

Well I got xbr from xbins yesterday so i guess it is 3. the only thing i can think of now, is that the the song i got is for lips number one hit as opposed to the original lips. it was advertised as lips but you never know!
Right i sussed it. its because the update isnt available for my media id.

media id doesn't matter it did with xbr_1 but with _3 u can use any media id long as it matches ur region,i've got plenty of different media id title updates and they all work fine, thats not ur issue
