Title: Xexmenu 1.0 (formally Xexloader)
Post by: DimmuJed on January 17, 2010, 07:33:00 AM
Why link to another site with this information? Here are the full release notes.
QUOTE
You might be wondering why it's XeDEV who are releasing this.. Since some people left the team, they don't want to retain the "freexex" name anymore. Also changed the name to XeXMenu (this is because XeXLoader is now much more of a menu than just a loader). So enjoy the new stuff :
What's news/fixed:
- Gametitle extraction from NXEART if possible (toggle) - Games with more than just one XEX will show up multiple times * Embedded FTP Server to transfer your stuff directly from your computer - Use xbox:xbox@ip:21 * Use FTP to read/write/delete your onboard flash - Only user flash/flash is able to do that! * Support for all found XEX files. Not just default.xex (toggle) * Shows the content of any GAMES folder on any device - Use GAMES, APPLICATIONS, EMULATORS for auto discovery menu on each device * Switch between games/apps/emus in the discovery menu using RB/LB * Auto scale skins for most resolutions (toggle) * Different help screens for each menu * Use DPad to switch between devices while browsing files * Xbox1 compatibility partition support (if exists) - Xbox1 partition known as "HddX" * Alphanumeric listing for files * No more XEX auto patching when copying DVDs * Manual XEX patching for freeBOOT users * Configuration menu * Real XBox save system for the configuration - Gamesave known as "Unkown Xbox Game" * Chose between different skins from the configuration menu * Support for own skins * many more things we can't remember
Press "BACK" for detailed help pages!
Note: If you only get a black screen on startup try to delete the XeXMenu savegame known as "Unknown Xbox Game" using system tab in dash.
There are some issues with the FTP upload speed for some people at the moment. We're still working on that. This will be fixed in further releases!
Install :
LIVE) Copy the C0DE9999 folder to HDD1:/Partition3/Content/0000000000000000/
... or use the XEX version
FTP) To prevent the Xbox from connecting to Xbox Live you can set up your network as follows:
- Use an IP adress outside your routers DHCP IP pool. If your router use 192.168.1.100-200 for DHCP you could use 192.168.1.210 - Set up your computers IP as gateway.
The XBox should be able to connect to your computer now but won't get access to the internet. If you have a second NIC just make a direct connection to be sure
Use xbox:xbox@ip:21 to connect
I wonder what they mean by read, write, delete your on board flash? Does that mean we can dump the NAND and Flash XBR with FTP?

Nice app, works fine - apart from this:
I have 2 usb drives plugged into the 360, one is in the back usb port of the 360 and is macdrive formatted, the other is in the front and it fat.
Only the front fat drive shows up in the program - but both show up fine in xexloader and the 360's nxe menus.
I am not sure if this app shows all usb drives or only drives formatted in fat/fat32 etc.

I Have 2 360s
One i use online plugged into my router and my other is JTAG.
So if i wanna use FTP on meh JTAG is it safe just to turn off XBL connection in the 360 via the system settings rather than try block it with my router?

Thank you....this sounds amazing!!!
Quick question: I am using Xexloader right now. How would I put this on my Xbox360? Would I uses Xexloader to copy and paste it in or not?
Here is where I am at: I downloaded "Xexmenu" from the usual places. When I extract it, I only have a file named "C0DE99990F586558". I put the single file of "C0DE99990F586558" on a USB Flash drive to put it on my Xbox 360 (the way I have done all apps and xbox live games so far with copy and paste inside the Xexloader program). I go to put the file in its location:
However when I get to the "00080000" folder I have these files there: "NXE2GOD" and "C0DE99990F586558" is already there. Is the "C0DE99990F586558 that is already there "Xexloader"?(I dont know because I paid to have someone JTAG my xbox and Xexloader was put on there by him after he JTAGed my Xbox360. I did put NXE2GOD on myself using the above USB steps using Xexloader. I have not done anything yet as I want to make sure that I dont mess anything up.
Could someone give an "idiot" way for me to upgrade from XEXLOADER to SEXMENU 1.0?
Thanks in advance.

Yea just paste over it it's the old XEXLOADER, do it and u get new Xexmenu
Um now all im getting is a Black screen when i load it it was working before.
"Note: If you only get a black screen on startup try to delete the XeXMenu savegame known as "Unknown Xbox Game" using system tab in dash."
I tried that and still no work
Any ideas?
I just fixed it, i installed a game via the copy dvd function after i installed Xexmenu before, it weas the only thing i did, so i just deleted the game i installed and now it works again, must be some kind of bug.

Post by: aubrey_76 on January 17, 2010, 11:08:00 AM
I tried to paste it and nothing happend. Everything is the same.
Here is what I did:
1. put the "C0DE99990F586558" on a 1gb USB Flashdrive. 2. Booted up my Xbox360 with the Flashdrive in the top/front USB slot 3. Navigated to game demos and launched "Xexloader" 4. Inside Xexloader app, navigated to USB Flashdrive file "C0DE99990F586558", pressed "Y" to bring up the menu and selected the "copy" option. 5. Then pressed "X" to switch to the "Hdd1" 6. Navigated to folder where the Xexloader "C0DE99990F586558" is 7. Press "Y" to bring up menu and pressed the "paste" option 8. ....... 9. Nothing happened....I turned off my Xbox360 and went back to where I would normally launch "Xexloader" and nothing changed. Xexloader is still there under that name and when I launch it, the menu and everything is exactly the same.
NOTE: Should I be using XEXLOADER to put the new file "C0DE99990F586558" on or should I use VIPER360.....a program I have never used but could learn fast if I needed to. If I am do use VIPER360, is it ok to put VIPER360 on my HDD1 and do all the copying and pasting from there or do I need to run VIPER360 off of a USB FLASH DRIVE.
Thanks for your quick answer above and I know it is me that is doing something wrong.....like I said an "idiot" way please....lol

You can't overwrite xexloader if it's in use, you have to download both versions of xexmenu (live & xex). Once you have both on your usb stick run xexloader then run the xexmenu xex from your usb drive. Once its booted up just copy the xexmenu live file over the old xexloader one and your done.

You have rename the nxe2god xex to default.xex and put it in the Applications folder in order for xexmenu to pick it up.

That should be just fine. It works for me.
For the truly paranoid: The text on the first page explains how to configure your router/box so it is able to connect to local network but not the internet:
QUOTE
To prevent the Xbox from connecting to Xbox Live you can set up your network as follows:
- Use an IP adress outside your routers DHCP IP pool. If your router use 192.168.1.100-200 for DHCP you could use 192.168.1.210 - Set up your computers IP as gateway.

I don't know why people seem to think this app can launch XB1 games, it's not a limitation of our code, it's a limitation of the XB1 emulator. We CAN launch XB1 games from anywhere already, but if they don't pass the check imposed by the XB1 emulator then they will fail to launch.
You need a patched emulator. This is not a patched emulator.

I know it wouldn't work in it's current form, but it's worth looking into IMHO.

Rumor has it that the next Le Fluffie update will have the ability to take an ISO (or rip) into a NXE/HDD/GOD package - I'm sure it'll be just a matter of time before we have a PC tool that will take an ISO over FTP to a NXE/GOD on the box. Give them time.

Actually, in order to prevent your xbox to connect to xbox live, you only need to configure it to use a static ip address. It can be any ip address, even inside the dhcp range. All you need to do is remove the gateway ip address (leave it blank), so that the xbox will only connect to your lan.

Ok, Filezilla = the way forward for FTP'ing! I've set concurrent transfers to 10 and its zooming the data across at max speed (10 connections at about 1.1mb/s).

This is an unnecessary step, as you can disable connections to Xbox Live in the Family Settings menu on the NXE, much safer and more foolproof.

I don't know. I doubt that will happen any time soon via the NXE/GOD route, but I've been wrong before.
You can use quickboot to make containers to launch iso rips from external USB. Or, just spend a couple bucks and get a larger 2.5" drive to replace your stock MS HDD (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Thanks so much this works great!
Why would anyone use a iso loader?
If you extract the game, it gets smaller (bioshock 7.7gb -> 4gb folder)
I think this way is great like it was in XBOX 1 scene

Disclaimer: I'm totally new to this. My Jtagged box will arrive in the mail in the coming days, and I've been looking around this and other sites for information.
My Xbox is going to arrive without XeXloader or anything of that nature installed. It will only have Xbr. What steps should I take to install Xexmenu? Hopefully, the information leading to this venture will allow me to use other applications and reduce the need to ask this type of question. Thanks to anyone who will help.

well i figured point him to xexloader first cause XEXmenu seems like more of an upgrade? As long as he made a CODE999 folder I guess he could just skip straight to xexmenu?
way i like is is xex loader and xexmenu personally...just for now I like to wait before I switch to only xexmenu and compare
and as you can see by above posts made sometimes there are kinks in new software...I also got no love from one disk i tried saboteur but it never worked for me i think cuz of bad scratch i cant even back it up on pc lol but anyways i keep trying it in different launchers and in this one it just skipped straight away
But the ftp worked so good that i didnt even care

my post from another thread.. took the time to write it but more people will read this one b/c of front page.. its just some quotes of some temps and others post your temperature readings along with mobo type and any mods you may have done...
To put things into perspective temperature wise

It's great . The FTP and temperature features are excellent!. I've got FlasFXP running on my PC so I can browse all the files on my 360 just like oldschool Xbox1 days. It's also interesting to see all the current temps. My Falcon after idling for about 30min = CPU: 57.8C GPU:72.7C EDRAM:77.6C MB:34.9C. GPU seems a bit hot for the console just idling.
I would seriously start looking into water-cooling if you wish to keep your jtaggable box, remember these are getting harder and harder to find new so..... you could always buy a used box and hope its not updated but um yeah... not fun

My temps? lol okay here we goes.. Love the jasper revision, its what SHOULD have been the 1st xbox360
Room Temperature 64ºF / 2hr Idle / No Mods / Jasper512
-Can't wait to hook up my water-cooling unit, that's next, might do it tonight and i was actually waiting for a temp monitor. so i could see my results, and i will be sure to post them. -NOTE* that right now is winter , so your rooms are colder and less humidity.... These temps are being taken in a cooler ambient temps.,. I know there are a lot of factors like how high ur thermostats are set but w/e -Point is.... temp readings at 161º - 171ºF = way to hot for idling... playing games = hotter a good 20 - 30ºF and when summer time arrives = even hotter.... well, you can see why these things RROD -keep your rooms cool, Xbox runs cooler, if you heat in you room is high turn it down, and keep ac on in winter if you don't have mods and want to keep your Xbox alive,

why do they call it dashboard? and why is it listed as dashboard at "the usual places"... i took a look at the FLASH under xexloader and i don't remember the exact name but there is a menu.xex type file there... could we possibly replace it at some point for xexmenu and boot straight into it?? right now it wouldn't make sense as there are too many options and things that the original dashboard has that this hasnt... but would it work as of now?
i was also thinking that it may be a good idea that after we launch a game, we can go back directly to xexmenu from the xbox button mini dashboard thingy... like when u press the xbox button on the controller it bring up the blades and i has an option to go back to dashboard, it would be cool if we had a go back to xexmenu option there... wish i had more time to learn and try to do this...
actually i started coding an mp3 player but i havent been able to work on it much this weekend, i havent even started coding i just made a very basic XUI... would love to see a media app... hmmm i just thought about an internet browser as well, but problem is there is no ppc even less ppc64 source code for flash player... a web browser without flash player is like not having a browser at all these days..
anyways, just installed this... the autodetect feature is AMAZING!!! definitely the way to go, i just removed all my packaged emulators and went with xex versions... FTP havent tried it yet but im sure it rocks... thanks very much team!
M$ all your xex are belong to us!!!

Yes there is a known issue with 256/512mb Jaspers corrupting xell and or XBReboot when the internal memory is used. It is best to do a erase of the nand thenflash XBReboot and leave the internal memory as unformatted

I think this may have also happened to me. I once accidentally copied my Dragon Age Origin's saved data to my FLASH, and I had something very similar happen. It was a hard problem to Diagnose for a bit, as I had just formatted my HDD to allow for xbox 1 games etc, and I forgot that there an xbox live update on the Memory card that was in the xbox when I tried to boot it up. First I thought somehow the HDD messed up my Xbox, then I was worried it tried to update somehow (even though it was the 8955 update that was already running on my box).
To fix the problem I decided to: Dump the first 2 block of my nand and compare them to the xbr.bin I flashed to it, different. So I flashed xell to the first 2 block and then booted into Linux via the CD and then flashed xbr.bin back to my box. Works perfectly again. I am thinking that was ultimately the problem for me and I think you can solve it the same way.
Also I am glad this version of XexMenu, formally XexLoader seems much more stable when copying files from my 1.5TB USB drive to my 500GB HDD on my xbox. I'm very happy with it and look forward to playing with the FTP feature. Many thanks,

Yup the CopyDVD is definetly not working right, I went back to xexloader 0.26 and I can copy all my games, I think it is really picky about the disc being scratched or something. I was able to copy 1 game but another just kept dumping me back and when i copied it with xexloader it paused a lot to reread the disc at certain spots.
Also it would be REALLY REALLY nice to get some RENAME function in here! I don't know why it's being put off, it's such a pain have to cut and paste into new dir all the time.

It seems that the file manager has been improved dramaticly... no more freezes for me and the FTP is awsome.
1 Question: Can we have or does this have a way to lock it so that you can only view games list and choose what to play?
The idea is to make it childsafe.

Fantastic stuff, FTP was the biggie I was waiting for
Probably a stupid question, but does anyone know how to get Quix to open xbox 360 .isos? It connects the the 360's FTP just fine, and I am able to add the 360's drive and games folder, but when I try to open an xbox 360 .iso I get 'identifier not found! possible corruption?'
I appreciate Quix is older than the hills and made for the original xbox, but an old thread says that it can open 360 .isos?

I think I just killed my jasper, I moved a 190mb arcade game to the onboard 256mb memory.
Noticed the game didn't show up so I rebooted to see why and now I'm getting just the middle green light and the system won't boot. Xell won't load either.
Did it overwrite my XBR?
Any help would be much appreciated.
If it said "Do you wish to overwrite this crap ?" then yes, you did overwrite that crap
Hopefully you have a backup of your nand like most of us. It is a time consuming process to reflash but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I'm sure rename would be there if they were being paid more . Give em some respect they deserve to use money as toilet paper but they do this for the fun of it, so dont complain when theres no rename
For the community this new xexmenu is the best thing since the jtag exploit, which simplified running code, this simplifies everything even further, and makes it look ownage.
--------------------------- MY TEMPS --------------------------
CPU: 59.7C GPU 59.5C EDRAM 58C MB 44.0C Idle for like an hour, copying things over and stuff.
Zephyr revision motherboard 80mm side duct above GPU heatpipe and cpu (right front corner) at 12v, the heatpipe is bent up towards the fan. X-clamp, arctic silver, small heatsink on H/ANA (e74 repaired on this one gotta protect it) does anyone know of the MB temp is the H/ANA? or the one to the left of it?
Blocked off right side to allow that fan to blow air around the case and not just out the side
Cut metal mesh behind plastic rear fan cover, and also cut metal grate behind right side mesh.
Also, this xbox is raised up to not be on a flat surface. The hard drive is on the side, lowering air flow.
HEPA filter next to the 360 reducing dust too! The fans are a lot less noticeable from that thing running all day, but at least there's less dust and other carcinogens I wish weren't an issue to have to deal with.

Curious about what it means by XBOX 1 support, and partition support. Does this mean we can access the XBOX 1 partition, to add game saves and stuff, not that we can play xbox 1 games off the hard drive as well, correct?

Hi!
I have a really idiot question.. I got two brand new xbox 360s awaing FW change on their DVD drives. Does this mean that i dont need to change FW on them and can use this insted to be able to play some ripped games?
Also, I got one of the first xbox 360s with a 20gb harddrive, with the first FW realease.. Can that one use this?
How do I install it? Is it just to put on a usb stick and add it to programs?
Sorry about this dumb questions, but I havent been active on the xbox 360 news for the last couple of years.. And without asking you dont get answers...

You have to perform the JTAG hack first. If your xbox has been updated recently on live or through a recent game then you won't be able to use this. You must have a pre-mid-Jun 2009 pre-8000 dashboard xbox in order to perform the hack.

Your first port of call would be in the newbies section, not the XeXDK development. Look up 'JTAG hack' and go from there.

No. DevKit has 2 net ifaces. I am currently working on a c++ class to send out debug values to remotely running socket client. you can push files to the 360, let them run with debug output, and see the output at the pc console.
this is helping and of course much easier than reading a logfile written to usb. My usb switch is no useless

Hi, the COPYDVD functions works for me, if you put your dvd into the drive before you use the COPYDVD command. As you press the COPYDVD button, a dialog appears to confirm your selection. Now you have to press the A Button before the dvd drive starts to open. As you have done so, the copying of files starts. I think xexmenu waits not long enough for the dvd drive to recognize the dvd or something like that. But with this method it works for me.

all you have to do is uncripple your hdd... google it... but then i suppose your box isn't jtaged because i jtaged mine and then went online and GOT BANNED and i CAN STILL use the "Install to HDD" function
i don't think your hdd gets crippled if you have jtag/xbreboot

With Fan Mod:
CPU:63.8 GPU:45.9 EDRAM:53.8 MB:36.7
I'm going to disconnect the fan and see what the temps are without it. I'll post my results. If anyone wants pictures of the fan mod id gladly post them. and explain a little how to do it for less the knowledgeable.
Without Fan Mod:
CPU:70.3 GPU:70.6 EDRAM:78.00 MB:37.2
eDiT: WOW! I had no idea such a simple mod would go so far. That is amazing, its a difference of CPU:6.5 GPU:24.7! EDRAM:23.2! MB:0.5C I'm turning my 360 off right now and connecting my fan! My xbox is not in its case and my ambient should be low (Canadian Winter here). Even with the mod i think the CPU is still way too high for idle.

If you browse around there will be various threads discussing what is required... JTAG is the exploit you need on your xbox. COPYDVD, does what it says on the tin.

temps before the mod : CPU:53.0C GPU:74.2 EDRAM:78.0C MB:35.4 ( IDLE )
temps after the mod: CPU:40.9C GPU:48.5C EDRAM:52.3C MB:28.2C ( STRESSED BY PLAYING BAYONETTA )
This is actually way sooooo gooood for this simple mod .. the only drawback is the helicopter trying to take off at the back of the 360 !!

70mm xbox 1 fan:
60mm mac classic II fan
80mm fan on left with wedge shaped duct made from plastic and hot glue
80's on the back with hot glue (cut into plastic on both sides of em)
For more air flow, without the side duct hole, snip the metal on the side and put some 80s. 2 or 3 is good.

just wanted to add that I found a bug, If you have 2 profiles signed in at the same time the app asks you to sign in and tells you that you have an incorrect amount of profiles signed in. then I have to turn the 360 off and back on. other than that I am loving this!

Im having a problem, perhaps its just a bug.
When I do not have my external hard drive plugged into my xbox, I am presented with a black screen when I boot Xexmenu. When I have my hard drive plugged in, Xexmenu works as it should.
Is Xexmenu supposed to be like this? Can someone else try this and tell me if its just me.

I only see the middle, and thus makes it difficult to navigate. Great job on the FTP though

I am also having this problem. xexmenu is installed in my original 120gig HDD, i also have both versions of the intallers (xex & live) on a usb key. When I remove the key from the xbox, xexmenu wont boot, even though its installed on the HDD.
I tried deleting the "unknown save game" thing off my hdd but it didnt fix the problem.

Yep thats whats going on with mine too. I hope its just a bug and not by design. I've since reverted back to xexloader until this is fixed since im only using my external HDD as a means to transfer content to the xbox hdd, its not always connected...

i don't think your hdd gets crippled if you have jtag/xbreboot
----------------------------------------------------------------------------- what the fastest way to extract an iso... i use xboxbackupcreator and it usually takes about 1.5 - 2 sometimes even 3hrs to extract... and then about 20mins to transfer with flashfxp i wish there was a faster way.. i hope isoloader comes soon

From what some others have posted, it appears there may be an issue with Xexmenu if you don't have a USB hard drive or some type of external storage device attached via USB. Try putting one on your 360 (with a folder and a file, at least), and see if that helps.

12v constantly to the fans has gotta be on the noisy side, give this a check... it works great, simple to install. you can dial in whatever idling speed you want to keep the temps at normal levels ( i consider normal to be cpu@55, GPU at 65, ram=debateable. The hotter they go above these temps the more likely RROD will set in.
Jaspers seem to work well without any mods required, higher temps indicate a problem so its worthwhile checking temps periodically

I'm having problems with overscan too. Changing auto scaling on or off has no effect, XexLoader was fine at 720p. I am also getting the CopyDVD function not working, it just kicks me back to the HDD1 root, hitting A before it tries to eject the tray doesn't help either.
This is on my Zephyr and XBR3b.

Try diff comp. I think something going wrong on your comp. Its need only 4-5 min per game last I tested.
My games are not listed on the main XeXmenu. Its blank. But I can brows the game and run it fine. Only problem is its not listed.

follow the FTP tutorial for XBox 1 using a cross over cable and it all should be fine.
Also, make sure you plug in the network cable first before running XeXMenu. If you run XeXMenu first and than plugin the network cable than it will not work.
using any web explorer: "ftp:\\xbox@xbox:192.168.0.3"
Or use Total Comander, FlashFXP, CuteFTP, etc..

Temps don't go above 60C for CPU or GPU with a 12v 80mm fan going in the side (zephyr with xclamps and AS5), it really doesn't add that much noise. I want this thing to last I'm going to make that a 120mm or two when I get em.
I bent the heatpipe up to the fan as well.

The FTP is working great for me the only issue is with file/folder locks. Up until my content is auto discovered I can rename folders by FTP but once that folder has been auto discovered either by pressing Y or a restart a lock gets applied and I can no longer rename/delete the folder.
Not a big deal but would be nice to be able to boot into Xexmenu without it locking all the content it has auto discovered.

I'm still on Xexloader .26, but my guess would be that there is more than one xex file in the directory. I know with most Call of Duty games (at least recent ones), there is one for single player and one for multiplayer (usually has _mp at the end of the file name). I would guess Xexmenu is displaying both executables, although I thought I read there was a toggle to only have it recognize default.xex, but I may be wrong on that point.

There are already skins over at the dev site. What you could do is use the xex version and use QuickBoot to launch it.
But completly unrelated i found out that the copy/paste function is much better now as i can use it to add to folder. Let´s say i want to add a couple of xbla games to the hdd from USB i can copy the 0000000000000000 folder on USB and copy it over to the content folder on the xbox hdd. It will ask me to overwrite and instead of deleting the folder first and i only have the couple of games. They get added to the folder.
One thing that is a bit irritating, i have over scan problems with skins. Classic works fine though on my 42" Plasma at 720p via component.

The FTP is great in XEXMenu.. If I have 2 xboxes, and want to FTP copy the profiles, and save games from one to the other, which folders do i need to copy?
I'd like a fast way to be able to keep both jtagged boxs in synch with regards to profiles and save games.. so it doesn't matter which box we play on, we can still access our profiles and saves. Using FlashFXP can open both boxes, and ftp directly between. Is there any risk to doing it this way?

The profiles are located in HDD1/Content/ The DLC and XBLA games are in 0000000000000000 the other folders are profiles.
Just FXP the files like that but take care that none of the profiles are set to auto login on startup. Atleast that made the profile not show up on the other console. Just go to profile settings and chose auto login as off.

Anyone noticed it takes twice as long to install a game in Xexmenu compared to NXE?
I installed Soul Calibur IV in NXE and it took around 12 minutes. I then installed it via Xexmenu's CopyDVD function with the same disc and it took around 24 minutes and the disc spun much slower.
Is this normal? My 360 has a Liteon 74850C drive flashed with iXtreme no stealth.

i know the icon is under demos but thats no use to me. there is no "unknown game" save in my saves. i can get it too boot if i plug in my external usb drive but thats the ONLY way it will boot.
you may say "well just keep your usb drive plugged in" its not that easy as ive installed the xexmenu to my bros stock 20gig hdd and he doesnt have access to a usb pen drive or external hdd so its really damn annoying. hopefully this bug is fixed in the next update

How is it possible to alphabetically sort my GAMES (displayed, if I start XeXMenu)?
I just can see my folders alphabetically sorted, my GAMES just won't. They're sorted after date, that's sad.
What's the problem there?

I haven't read this thread at all, but I noticed today that copying DVDS does not work for me.
XENON system copying retail left 4 dead 2 disc to USB drive.
I created a left 4 dead 2 folder on my usb, then entered the directory and started the "COPY DVD" function. A menu comes up to confirm, I select ok, and then nothing happens, it just goes back to the USB directory.
I am able to copy individual files and folders just fine, but the copy dvd function does not work.

Dude. Read the thread. Some people put out quite a bit of effort to bring you this wonderful software, free of charge. The least you could do is read through the thread to see this is a known issue.

excellent app no issues here well only small issue it doesn't find snes360 even though its in my Emulators directory on root of 500gb hard drive, finds games no problem
hopefully in future versions they add support of 2 disc titles like mass effect so u can rip both discs into one directory without it mentioning to insert disc 2 when needed
in regards to the poster having issues with not being in order, google Fatsorter i think 1.0.4 is latest version, run it on your pc and point it to the directory where your games are stored and it will auto sort them in order

I have the same USB issue. I used Xexloader to run Xexmenu off usb and used that instance to install xexmenu live onto my attached hdd.
When I run the XEXmenu without the USB key installed it just hangs. If I leave the USB key in the xbox gives e71, that and the fact that the usb key is attached to my keys makes the whole issue annoying. But atleast I know how to get it to work.

This gets better and better!
I have a question. Is the team aware of the high gpu usage this program has?
Here is my example with a jtagged falcon.
Start the console, open xexmenu, let it idle for 15 minutes. The gpu gets around 72°C.
I close xexmenu, return to nxe and instantly i hear the fans spin down. Wait 30 seconds and then open xexmenu again.
GPU temp is around 60°C! This goes up FAST. In a minute it's back at over 70°C.
How can the program put so much stress on the gpu so fast?

I tried deleting the "unknown save game" thing off my hdd but it didnt fix the problem.
I followed the advice of the post on the 1st page. I deleted the unknown game, then installed a game using copydvd. Now it loads without having USB installed.

Is there a way to add the new skins without using the XEX version? I have gone through every folder on the PC and I think pretty much every folder in the XEXmenu and I do not see aplace to add the new skins. I am using the LIVE Version.

also.... it would be nice if there was a way to have games installed in the Games folder, but with a jpg or png matching the folder name, of the box covers for the games, to view them like that rather than the pictures that load up for the games that are disc held.
Also, for some reason my game Saboteur, in xexmenu, the pic is all orange and distorted and doesnt show the proper picture? any ideas why?

yup I've been looking into that over last few hours.
I plan to probably put some whisper fans on....
but i've just seen that there is a fan speed patch tool for jtagged consoles. I've just downloaded the older version from xbins, ran a patch on the autospeed, and now the fans are whizzing like a hairdryer at presumably 100% (think thats the same as doing the 12v mod - but no more soldering yayy)
Just trying a few things out now to keep eye on temps and see how much improved

from what I've read - they seem quite good....as in just for pushing more air out - but not really any quieter.
On upside....I've tried out the 360 a bit since putting the speed to 100% on fans.
Machine much cooler. Beforehand, everything was originally around the early 70s in my console (shortly after jtag with the case still open mind)
Weird though that I can play games, both xbla and just recently saboteur...and the gpu runs cooler. The moment I load up xexmenu - the gpu starts increasing within about 60 seconds or so by about 3 or 4 degrees

ok 1st thing to do is go to xbins and get the fan speed flasher but the older version not the newer one then download this http://www.ddxcb.com/crap/patcher.rar and just patch the autospeedxex then run it on xexmenu and restart the xbox and then it should sound like a hairdryer as i said my temps are between 50 and 70 now but if you can put up with the noise its worth it especially on a xenon hope that helps ya
all credits go to ddxcb over at xboxhacker
so...
download the file in the "_OLD" folder....I believe its called fantool...not the main one then extract the link above to same folder. then run the patcher and set it to patch the autospeed.xex file with the 100speed.patch file copy it to usb or whatever load up xexmenu browse to folder and launch autospeed.xex
the system will then go black for a few secs and then you'll return to the 360 dashboard.
Switch the console off, wait a few seconds, then back on again and it should be going at full speed then
hope that helps

It's 12v, the app changes how much voltage is supplied to the fans.

I built a hardware solution that allows you to set your minimum fan speed AND have full auto fan speed control, it beats screaming the fans at 12v all the time and it can be installed wihout any soldering too. It will always try to run at the lowest speed possible idling speed setting and increase speed as required. The user can adjust the idling speed to suit their 360.
Xexmenu is a gpu hog too, at least a 3 - 5 degree increase in Xexmenu compared to sitting in the main dashboard

A wild guess from an inexperienced noob (myself) would be that there's so much data on your external that when Xexmenu attempts to load it all as well as it's own resources it causes a crash?

I seem to have a similar problem. Just got my pre-jtagged console, loaded up xexmenu 1.1, transfered the files to my original 250gb drive using the xexmenu cd (or dvd in my case), got a game rip to work fine from my usb HDD but now I have issues with black screen whenever my usb drive is connected and trying to load xexmenu. If I disconnect the usb hdd and delete the unknown game save file, all seems well until the next time I boot a game. Not sure what needs to happen, but a fix or workaround would be nice.

Ok, think I figured out my problem. There were system files that were on the USB HDD that I think were messing with xexmenu. I didn't bother formatting as the drive was already formatted to fat32 and immediately started throwing stuff on it. Upon removing these files, all has been well. Kind of a unique set of circumstances but maybe this might help someone.

I am new to this and been searching for an answer but can't find one. I have the xexmenu 1.1 no problems there I also am able to FTP and copy and delete files off the hard drive. However xexmenu never show my programs, apps and games on the menu. My emulators and games work find without the xexmenu but I would like all of thus to show up in the folders of the xexmenu app.
Is there something else I need to do to get this to work and show the proper files in their directories?

First two things to check:
- apps, games, emus must be in certain fixed paths to be discovered by Xexmenu
- if you configure Xexmenu to only discover executables named "default.xex" you won't see XM360 and several others, unless you have renamed them

Which FTP program are you guys using? I am using FlashFXP and it seems to hang at the 100% mark on files larger than around 750mb. It hangs for about a minute, then it reconnects to the FTP, but the file shows it's the complete size so it seems like it transfered ok even though it says failed in the status but the file size is exact.

I have a 3.5 500gb HDD attached to the system (wired & powered internally) which shows up nicely in NXE. Got Xexmenu to load fine its just I don't know what right partition to put the Apps/Game folders so xexmenu can scan and find them.

I am using the xexmenu ftp option xbox/xbox to try and connect to my xbox by FlashFXP.
It is able to connect successfully, however the only folder I see in the root / directory is the Flash folder. There is no Hdd1 folder etc. I have an xbox360 slim with 4gig HD. Is there a reason I can't see any folders other than the Flash folder?
Thats because you dont have a 4gb hdd. What you have is the 4gb internal memory, its 2 different things. If you want to access the 4gb internal the use ftp in freestyle dash. It can access the internal memory on the slims.

Thank you for the quick response.
Does this mean trying to transfer XBLA games using tools like 360content manager won't work either?
Basically is Freestyle dash the only tool I can use to upload XBLA games?
Thanks again.

Honestly idk. I dont use any of the other tools. To me alot of them just seem un-needed. You can use freestyle ftp to transfer your XBLA games. Its just as easy as using 360content manager i suppose, which again i havent used.
