Title: Xex Loader Won't Recognize External Hdd
Post by: Endymion86 on December 22, 2009, 08:33:00 AM
I'm new to this scene, but I just picked up a system with XeX Loader on it last night. I understand how things should work, but...

I have a 750GB external HDD, and I used Partition Magic 8 to make a large (120gb, I think) FAT32 partition last night. It shows up as a valid partition in Windows, and even on my PS3, but when I plug it into the 360 via any of the USB ports, it doesn't show up as an accessible location in XeX Loader (I was going to use it to copy games to, etc).

Is there any special trick to getting XeX Loader to recognize an external HDD via USB? I'd swear it's all partitioned correctly and everything...

The FAT32 Partition must be the first Partition on the HDD. Xbox dont Recognize any other Partition.

Thank you so much!! I hadn't even thought of that! I'll move partitions so that it's the first one on the drive, and try it again tonight.

Again, thank you!  love.gif

Hmm, still no go. I created a FAT32 partition at the beginning of my drive, so that it's the first one on the list, and it doesn't show up in XeX Loader. It shows up as a correct partition in windows, and is even recognized by my PS3, but the 360 won't see it for some reason.

Hello everyone.

@Endymion86

I had the same problem as you but I then re-formatted the drive and made it a Primary partition rather than a Logical one, and added a .txt file to the root of the drive. By doing this, I was able to use the drive as normal. I had read somewhere that the external drive has to have at least 1 file in the root directory or it will not be recognised hence the reason for puuting the .txt file there.
The same thing happened with my USB pendrive which was formatted in Fat32. It could not be recognised when it had only a folder with data in it, it also required 1 file to be in the root.

Regards to all.

Thank you!! id like to also add that any unallocated space should be at the end of the drive not the beginning
