Would be nice with a XboX mediacenter for the 360, and maybe NTFS support with the ability to load IMG/ISO's. How great would it be if we could connect our USB 2 External 2TB with all the Images on it?

It's already great but it's a shame we need to have another copy of every game. The xbox people should talk to the PSP people, how great would it be if we could stream the game images over the network....

You don't need a disc burned to use it.
Open Xbox Backup Creator.
Go to image browser
Load the iso
then a file tree will appear on the left window.
right click on the top file in the left window and select extract.
it will extract the iso into files.
Then simply patch the xex file and put the game on a usb device etc.

I'm not a programmer of this kind, but I think that the support for file systems comes from the kernel/dashboard. So xexloader can only launch files from devices with file systems supported by the kernel, which means just FAT, FATX and maybe HFS+. It might be possible to code a tool which accesses NTFS or even ISO files, but they will work only in this app, not in the dash/kernel, which means no starting games from such devices, only browsing and maybe copying to natively suported filesystem devices.
Maybe the kernel could be hacked to support NTFS and use a virtual device for images... but that's not the problem of the xexloader coders smile.gif

Yes, auto directory renaming would be nice, as would be a FTP server (as I mentioned before).

I forgot FTP Server, that would make everything easyer. I wonder if the couldn't take the code from the xbox mediacenter and try to make it work with the 360. Mediacenter already has a FTP server and you can also start games from it. And HFS+ works with 2 TB hardrives and img files bigger then 4 Gb so if that would work NTFS isn't that important. However IMG/ISO support would be really great, I wonder how they did it for the PSP since you can start games as ISO or CSO/JSO and something more I believe.

But it's already possible to start Games from a USB Ext Drive if the files are extracted from the ISOS. Is it possible to use HFS+ for that Hardrive? Since I want to use the biggest drive possible....

I am sure that there will come better and better tolls, However I would prefer to stream MKV files from my computer then playing games om my 360...I have been waiting for a mediacenter for my 360 since the 360 came severall years ago. If xboxmediacenter worked on the 360 from the beggining it would have kicked PPS3's ass even more...

some kind of support for auto injecting title updates would be sweet,i know we can extract a title update and patch the xexp into default xex but some games have extra update files that we need to be able to patch

You dont even need to use the code from the original xbox, you could just code your own server.

Any hints on where to look to code applications like this?

Not at all, only thing you'd need to worry about is wiring up a power source for the 2tb drive.

/me patiently waits for 0.25 release

would the xbox not also have power through that port? youd need to run a seperate line. but finding the powere in the xbox would be super easy smile.gif

This is getting closer to xbox 1 ability. soon it will be a simple matter of ftp the files over, reboot and play smile.gif

2tb external is a lot of drives.

Even then you could get yourself an external raid box and have unlimited space
