Don't know if it's just my setup but I've just ripped an XGD3 game with the new xbc and a lite-on v3 0800 drive and dumping of the topology data ONLY took about an hour plus another 15 minutes for the game data to rip.

Can someone else please try this and see if your setup is similar to my ripping times.

I also had an error at the dumping of the security sectors part requiring me to eject the game and reinsert it for it to continue. The log follows with the error parts bolded. Do you think the iso should be OK to use or should I redo it?

Thanx again Redline 99!!  Nice work as always!!

On another note: I don't really like the sound of this/these so-called 'median' file(s) ... I plan to stick to my own XBC generated results thankyouverymuch ! :-)

Just a heads up I've now had a 3rd problem with this release.

Ripping another game got stuck at 0.66 of topology and the ripping drive disc speed started surging up and down now it doesn't work. Drive is still detected but will not pickup games. I'm guessing the app caused my laser to stress and burnout.

Games disc surface was 10/10 so no probs with scratches. Ripping drive was near new and only had about say only about 20 hours of use.

Thats now 3 problems with this release but I had no problems with previous releases just thought i'd give people a heads up of what could potentially happen.

I know it's not recomended, but I decided to patch the isos with the generic topology *.bin files off elsewhere and they seem to work just fine.

Of course, when ABGX is updated I will rerun them to make sure they are 100% correct.

It's not the app it's your drive.
The app doesn't have any ability to increase or decrease laser voltage and sensitivity.
You simply had a weak and/or dirty laser eye.
Clean the laser eye off with a Q-tip with 1 drop of glass cleaner on one end and squeeze the Q-tip first to make sure excess water is gone then clean it with the damp end then dry it with the dry end and don't push hard at all just let it rest on the eye and twist it with no downward pressure.

c4e already stated that you don't need to re rip an original disc, you can just use the backup of an iso and just inject the new bin file which replaces the old ap25 sector.

i think the 0800 drives are a waste of cash tbh

the universal topology files was released by c4e and it's safe, xgd3's use the same topology info so one patch currently works for all. as for xgd2's only mw2,bo & reach are available.

OK I cleaned the laser and it's working again thankgod for that. I've also been able to do a complete dump now without any errors or problems occurring.

So whats safer ripping the topology data ourselves with our 0800 drives or injecting C4evas universal ones?

Cleaned the laser in my BenQ VAD6038 w/ 0800 v3 firmware, and it's still not working right for me.   GOW3 isn't working... and I even tried Left4Dead 2 just to make sure it wasn't a "new game" thing.

Still... every time I try to close the program, I have to do it through task manager.  The program freezes every time I click CANCEL or attempt to close through the X.

Any help?

The guy even said himself it doesn't verify Iso's an isn't even legit.

I won't waste my time with this topolgy data XBC crap an will just wait for ABGX

Saves, time, hassle an bother.

Run it through, burn, like the old days.

Not stupid new methods.

It's getting really boring now.

I was going to make a big long post but f**k it .... You're an ungrateful troll , gtfo , all this is given to you for free so respect it .... FYI nothing is new about using XBC to rip games , or patching in security files, the new fw won't work unless you are using the correct security for it, ABGX is going to verify that same security, and will most likely be the same thing you would download right now to patch games ... As soon some people start ripping with their 0800 drives topology data will be available for more games, it's not like c4eva has a collection of every Xbox360 game to make a rip and provide everyone the data, and ABGX database is not going to be 100% complete with all game topology data as soon as it's released , well maybe since there are only a few games but all new games as they come will have to be verified etc ... You will still be waiting even when the new ABGX comes out.

hey guys. sorry for the really dumb newb question.  im new with xbc.  i read about injecting the topology data into the iso.  so i did that.  now, do i have to use xbc to burn the iso or can i close it and use imgburn?  what i mean is once xbc injects that data to the iso, its all set and saved, right?  so even if i close xbc, the iso is still patched?
really embarrassing question unsure.gif ... just wanna make sure before i waste time and discs.  thanks.

Hi sorry for jumping in , ive got a samsung drive with the koreon firmware on bought awhile ago . ive never got round to backing up my origionals as i got my friend to do it but hes gone on holiday for a month , so im getting xbox flashed tomorrow so im going to have to do my games . ive just put the drive in pc and put my game in and got the new xbox creator its reading the game to pc but says ap 2.5 not supported by drive . so i was wanting to know if there is a newbie guide to doing the games from scratch , ive done a bit of reading but ive read that much my heads all over , many thanks

Lose the Kreon drive, It's pretty much useless nowadays. Get yourself a spare Liteon\BenQ Xbox Dvd Drive and flash it with C4's 0800 FW v3.0 - This is the only way for you to be able to rip properly all of the current games, including XGD3, Ap2.5 topology data\Whatever.
The program you'd use is XBC.

And to answer your next question - No, there's no way Kreon can handle AP2.5, and there are no plans to update it either.

Is anyone else having the same issue I am?   Immediately after asking to name the ISO, the file is created and XBC hangs at 0.00 or 0.01%.   The *.iso file is usually ~400kb when the program hangs.   I thought that perhaps it has to scan the disk for a while at this point to read the topology, so I left it for a few hours, and nothing had happened.

I just used JF 1.91 to REFLASH my BenQ VAD6038 to the 0800 v3.0 firmware, and I also cleaned my laser TWICE with a QTip and Windex.

I tried copying the FrogASPI.dll and mscomctl.ocx files I had in the v345 folder with the same results.

As a control set, and to make sure my drive wasn't coincidentally fried before I started using the new version... I used the previous version of XBC (v345) to rip a game, and it went without a hitch.

I keep seeing people reporting that this software is working for them... but I'm not nearly as lucky.

What can I do?   Should I change any of the default settings?  Turn something on/off?  Could there be a software conflict on my computer that's causing it to hang as soon as it starts to read the disk?

Thanks for any help!

What is your SATA setup like? That could be causing the problem, I always have to use my onboard sata for any 360 drive, because you need the driver installed on a VIA card, and with a VIA and drivers installed it freezes my PC just plugging in a drive, but I also have onboard SATA so I use that for ripping, flashing is fine on the VIA .

Try again but with the option - “process AP2.5″ unchecked (Under the options tab). According to k3rn3l, This option should only be used when topology data is being collected for development purposes.

Man I hope this helps you out, cuz other than that it's your setup...  tongue.gif

I have TWO spare Samsung Drives...  Are you implying that neither will work with the latest 0800 firmware? One has an older version of 0800 that I was using before getting the BenQ, which has worked flawlessly until XBC v350 was released.   I could dig them up and flash to see if my problems go away...  but I was under the impression that the Samsung drives can't handle XGD3/AP25.

Thoughts?

You are under the right impression, Samsung drives cannot handle AP2.5, they don't have the code for it.
And I missed the part you said you already have a BenQ drive - I got two here flashed with 0800 v3.0 - One's a Liteon and the other is a BenQ - TBH I can't point out any problems whatsoever,They're both working fine, maybe it's your laser?

I have a VIA VT6421 card, as well as onboard SATA.   The VIA card has worked fine up to this point.  I've used it since the first days of using a bootable USB drive to flash the early versions of ixtreme to my Samsung drive... all the way up to ripping the latest XGD3 games (before XBC v350).   Plus, as I mentioned in my earlier post... the VIA card still works for games on previous versions of the XBC software.

All that aside... I plugged my drive (which is powered through a CK3i) directly into the SATA ports on my motherboard, and restarted my PC, but it's not seeing the BenQ drive.   Do I need special 360 drivers?  I seem to remember that from before my VIA card arrived (that was the preferred SATA chipset back in the day)

Also... with regard to unchecking the AP25 option...  I tried that through the VIA card, and got the same problem.

I mentioned before that when I open XBC v350, it won't close unless I force it from Task Manager, even when I have the BenQ drive disconnected.  Is this happening for anyone else?  I think this is indicative of a software conflict of some sort...  and if so, then it has to be something different in THIS version of XBC, since it doesn't happen with the previous release (v345), which works to rip games.

Thank you for your suggestions!  Keep them coming!

I can rip games with XBC v345 just fine (except for the fact that the output files would fail AP25 challenges, of course)... so could it still be the laser?  I realize that v350 analyzes topology data... would this feature expose a problem with the laser that other versions of XBC would not?

Also... I cleaned the laser lens as recommended with a QTip wetted with Windex, applying very little pressure, and v345 still works (so I didn't damage it in cleaning).

Sorry to clog up this thread with my problems...

No, it's not happening to anyone else I assume, not for me on my 3 desktops anyways...

So now we know it's your setup, sorry but you'll have to go the trial and error method until you figure this out.

About the "then it has to be something different in THIS version of XBC, since it doesn't happen with the previous release (v345)" - You'll have to address Redline99 himself for an explanation.

Kreon still works just fine, depending on your needs.  Xbox Backup Creator starting with version 2.9.0.345 was updated to support XGD3 discs and specifically supports the latest Xtreme ripping firmwares and Kreon drives. Obviously there are limitations to Kreon drives, but if you're ripping for a JTAG like I am, it doesn't matter. I convert my ISOs to GOD installs and have no need for XGD3 or AP25.

Sweet.  Thanks for taking the time.  Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

I'm planning a PC overhaul soon.   What's the preferred chipset for onboard SATA.   Uninstalling/reinstalling my VIA drivers is becoming a nuisance... but I don't know if there's a better alternative.

Almost everytime when I launch XBC it says that it can't open drive handle for every drive I've got in my system. In drives list then I see nothing and radiobutton SPTI is locked. A couple of reboots helps to temporary fix this problem, but only for one launch of XBC.

The exact error message:
CODE
ERROR Opening drive handle for '\\.\D:

I don't know if this will help but the only way I could get build 350 to work is onboard sata. My via 6421 with drivers would see the drive but freeze after a few seconds. My X360 usb would see the drive but call error after a few seconds. Hooking to onboard sata, rescan devices in device manager, then ripping disc works perfect for me. Good thing I keep a sata cable hanging out the back for Hitachi's  biggrin.gif

Does anyone know for sure if this build will inject SS/DMI properly for XGD3 discs? I have had a bad 0800 rip before & would like to avoid a SS that deviates too much. While waiting on a new abgx for xgd3, I'd like to be able to inject a verified SS/DMI if need be.

Other than the fact that I have a CK3i and not an X360 USB... this is pretty much what's happening to me.  The only difference is that it doesn't freeze, but it just won't close.  If I click CANCEL, it would ask if I want to quit... so it's not actually frozen.

Can I bother you to ask what SATA controller you have onboard?  Even just your motherboard make and model would be fine.  I'll look it up on my own.

Thanks!

I have a ASUS M4A77D & iirc a SB700 SATA controller. Honestly, I think I'm just gonna go back to build 345 & patch with Median.bin. A rip of Halo:Reach with 345 takes me 18 minutes while build 350 took 35min cause the program pauses every couple minutes. Did the same thing with Gears 3 & got 24 min with 345 & 42min with 350. I'll wait till a new build or a new game that I have to use build 350 on.

Edit: I don't know what caused the issue with my first two rips, but now build 350 is just as fast with no pauses. Go figure.

Thanks for the reply.   I have an Asus board (P5E WS Pro) with both Intel ICH9R and JMicron SATA controllers onboard.  I tried both with my BenQ drive with minimal results on Win7 x64.   I'm about to rebuild my PC with some new components, and will probably end up with an AMD SB950 Southbridge on a M5A99X EVO mobo.   That should be much more similar to your [working] setup than I have now.   Either way, I should be able to transplant my VIA card, so I'm not worried about losing any functionality.

Are there any surefire SATA controller cards that I might be able to purchase along with the rest of my stuff on NewEgg?  The VIA card was all the rage back in the days of iPrep and ixtreme 1.4.  haha

 :::  Bold added for tl;dr readers :::

I re-read your post, and correct me if I'm wrong...  but aren't the Hitachi drives "better" with regard to being recognized by a PC?  As in, they don't need a particular chipset or special drivers to get a drive letter assigned easily?  Maybe this is why you're having better luck than I am?

For those of you out there that everything is working perfectly for...   what is your hardware/software setup?

Windows/Linux/etc OS version?   32 or 64 bit?
SATA controller(s)?
360 Drive Model?
360 Interface Hardware?  (CK3, CK3i, X360 USB, etc...)
Other factors that I can't remember 10 minutes after rolling out of bed???

I'm on Vista-64 with 16gb of DDR2. Yeah, my build is a couple years old but working great. I use this controller card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16816124011
Cheap, easy to install, & recognizes almost everything.
I'm setup like this:
X360usb for slim lite-ons primarily,
Phat lite-on's & Hitachi's are kinda Hit & miss,
can flash a 360HDD in under 30 sec,
rips good with schtrom & XBC before build 350
Sy-via6421 (with drivers removed)
Slim 9504 & all phat drives do great except hitachi
(with drivers installed)
rips good with schtrom & XBC before build 345
Onboard SATA:
Hitachi's do great. I keep a onboard SATA cable hanging out the back mainly for these.
Schtrom & all Builds of XBC seem to rip great.
Remember this is just the setup that works best for me. Plenty of people are getting XBC build 350 to work with X360usb & VIA6421. I just have no idea how, lol.

This may be indicative of something... but I've noticed something weird with the log.txt file that's created every time I open XBC.  The software obviously loading completely...  Notice the last line (below).  It doesn't even finish the line about imgBurn...  and it does this every single time, at the same letter.  "... The Ultim"

Maybe I'll try uninstalling imgBurn and seeing if that changes anything...
UPDATE:  Uninstalling didn't do anything... Reinstalling didn't do anything.  Back to square one.

I'm going to try combing the registry for XBC entries and deleting them.  Perhaps something from a previous version is corrupt.
UPDATE:  Combed the Registry, deleted some stuff... problem persists.   screw!

The thing about imgburn is probably nothing at all. Chances are that it's some sort of osk character limit within the program. That's probably the wrong terminology, but it has to do with how many spaces are allowed for names. Some programs report the whole name while others don't, it's no big deal.

I'm not sure.   It seems the log.txt echoes back whatever occurs in the live feed in the program... and it stops there every time.  I've seen other full log files, and it doesn't reach a character limit.   I think my log file getting cut short is indicative as to the moment that the program "breaks" causing me to be unable to close it on command.  I can only close it through Task Manager.   I hope Redline gets a chance to look into it.

I forgot you were having to use task manager to close it. A lot of people are having that issue. It'd be nice to know if other who are having to exit with task manager also have this cut off in the log. If that is where it's going wrong, it might be something Redline could fix easily.

I've never really used XBC before. I just inserted the Topology into the ISO I want to burn, but when I click on write, I get an error that is failed Security Sector validation. Is this a legitimate error that means I have a bad rip, or is this a problem with XBC related to XGD3?

Actually, more important, should I be worried that it's telling me my rips have bad PFI detected?

Is the write function now OK? believe redline had advised not to use it in previous version

By the way...  I reinstalled Windows7 x64 edition...  registered all the correct files, and ran XBC v2.9.350, and it's running flawlessly.   I literally only installed an antivirus application and Chrome...  so I do believe the problem I, personally, was experiencing was due to software corruption of some kind.

I'll update if I run into problems.  Otherwise... assume that I solved my issue.  (and just in time for the new version of ABGX!)

Thanks everybody for your help!

I am running Windows 7 (64bit) and have a dedicated Benq VAD6038 with 0800 v3 firmware.

Currently using Xecuter CK3 pro as power supply for the Benq.
X360USB pro for the actual connection to the PC.

Even with XBC v2.9 build 0345...the odd times...the program will hung on startup and i have to disable the usb connection before the program will launch.
This apply to build 0350.

But most of the time...the program will launch immediately without any issue and recognized the Benq right away.

I find that after the usb connection before launching the program...make sure the XBox drive is being recognized in the USB tab.
And maybe try opening and closing the disc tray...this will make Windows try to communicate to it.

Then XBC should have no issue launching.
