NOTE:

Burning XGD3 is not supported yet in xbc, this release is for ripping only.
Use imgburn from outside of xbc for now.

XGD3 stealth checks not supported either, use abgx360 when available.

Having to fetch the DAE is pretty much as expected. Thanks for the release Redline99. Itching to test it out as soon as I get that DAE.

Just put the liteon ready as if you were gonna flash it. set the 800 firmware as target firmware then write. It will tell you about not having key, or spoof etc. ignore and just flash.

My understanding is that Gears of War 3 uses the XGD3 format.
If Xbox Backup Creator 2.9 supports XGD3, then we should be
able to copy GoW3 and create an ISO image file.  Correct?
And then use ImgBurn to burn the DVD?
I have an old Xbox 360 with a Hitachi drive flashed with GaryOPA 2.3.
I have an old Samsung SH-D162C.
Would I be able to copy and play Gears of War 3?
Any advice/suggestion would be appreciated.
Thank in advance.

You will need a BenQ or a phat liteon using the new IXtreme 3.0 0800 firmware to rip it

*** NOTE *** This build of XBC does not support older Xtreme ripping firmwares (Kreon drives are still supported though). Use abgx360 at http://abgx360.net for more thorough Stealth Checking

So does this mean my old Samsung SH-D163B with new xbc can be used for XGD3?

Shai12, thanks for your reply.
If I were to obtain a backup copy of Gears of War 3 from someone else,
then would I be able to play it on my old Xbox 360?

Can you use a Kreon drive and then run it thru ABGX to patch it properly, or is Kreon right out the window for XGD3?

Kreon cannot read or rip XGD3.

Kreon, Samsung and Hitachi are still supported by the XBC but, they cannot properly rip XGD3. They are for XGD2 only if even then they don't support AP25. Eventually those drive will be completely obsolete.

Didnt TX and C4E say DAE.bin method (which was the method the russians were using) was "wrong" and slammed them as "not safe"

now they are using the same method?

http://forums.xbox-s...o...30970&st=15

Same as there was "no way to unlock slim liteon's" - buy our PCB" and then the russian group released an unlock?

All just seems like public propaganda

No,

Redline uses each dae.bin for the ap2.5 challenge set for that dashboard. The actual disc generates the response.

Then it records the relevent responses.

They were using dae.bin's target and adding jitter.

Hitachi can rip games? Didn't saw 0800 firmware for these drives ever... Where I can get it? Just interesting.

BTW, where I can get DAE.bin for latest dashboard (and for older dashboards) though?

Oh, I see. Its using the DAE.bin during the reading phase - so the original disc will generate the responses. Clever and makes sense smile.gif

Cheers for the clarification.

So I was looking at GoW 3 XGD3 iso and see that the movies are BINK format.  so why cant we just do what we did back in the Xbox days when we tried to shrink games to fit more on the internal HDD..   I remember we downgraded the graphics abit or even replaced some useless videos with a shorter one.

example .. replace the 80mb outtro credits video with the 1mb Loading video instead. do that to a few videos or just lower the res on a few and we can then make the entire iso fit normally on a DL disc

Just athought..  anyone else think this will work, im downloading the tools and gonna try it in see what happens

Looks like we will still be subject to reburning games everytime the DAE.bin changes. Seems like there should be a more permanent solution.

Are previous (currently unsused) responses being burned to the disc or is it strictly the current responses?

No I can't directly, check for scratches or fingerprints on the outter edge of the disc.
Cleaning the disc will help sometimes.

Is your image browser working for xgd3? I don't really need anything but iso2god but that doesn't support xgd3 yet. So I was thinking of ripping the xgd3 to a xgd2 to see if iso2god would work on that. But that depends apparently if your iso browser supports xgd3 currently.

There is a "Image Browser" in XBC on one of the tabs.  I don't have the standalone version available yet, but the one in XBC is fully functional.

Install problems.

I tried to run or install xbc 2.9 but i get a error wondering if anybody else has this same problem.

I get error     Run-time error '339':

component 'MSCOMCTL.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid

I do not have a 800 drive on my computer yet.  have to get a benq drive.  Thought I would take a look at it and see what is different.

Im stealing this post from someone, I don't remember who.  <Thanks Someone>  smile.gif

If your getting an error in windows 7 (or other os) with mscomctl.ocx which is stopping backup creator from running then try this

Get the mscomctl.ocx whether zip/rar form or whatever, extract to( C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. ) LEFT CLICK ON "Command Prompt" and choose "RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR"
this is important, RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR ok got that good, then use "CD C:\Windows\system"
NOT \system32
Then "regsvr32 mscomctl.ocx"

Running XBC on 64-bit windows 7 its different again you need to put MSCOMCTL.OCX into C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder.
Run command prompt as Administrator and ether type or copy and paste this in >>> Regsvr32 c:\windows\SysWOW64\MSCOMCTL.OCX if anyone needs it > Here.

Any ideas why I get the below error? I have the latest IMGBURN which shouldn't give errors?

Do I need to change the layerbreak in the .DVD file?

Any ideas? Trying to burn a backup of GoW3 that I created myself.

Hi Redline,

Thanks very much for your reply, I followed the tutorial to rip the game listed here:

http://team-xecuter....ead.php?t=61646

Then for burning the game I followed this:

http://nickthegr33k.eu/XGD3burn.pdf

after clicking Write until end of disc (Truncate) I get the error I posted above, unsure what i'm doing wrong.

Thx for replying

He's not kidding about dirt. I was trying for ages to to do GOW3, it kept throwing errors about wanting to fill zero's. I checked the disk heaps of times and it look fine until I had another look and found the most tinniest smudge. I thought nah its still going to error on me. Tried it again and not one fault  blink.gif

Redline99,

Any chance for an updated standalone Xbox Image Browser?

Reason I ask is I've always been fond of the standalone XIB but naturally it doesn't support XD3.
I notice that the XIB in the new XBC extracts faster than the standalone version.

Problems with the integrated version:
1. On Windows 7 the taskbar item for the XBC integrated Image Browser sometimes disappears from the taskbar.
2. XBC is single instance which means it is only possible to have the integrated Image Browser running once.

Thanks again for your efforts.
