Hi all,
I developed a GUI for growisofs. XBoxBurner burns XBox and XBox360 game images. It runs under Linux, Windows and MacOSX! Current version is: 1.0
Screenshot (Linux version / Ubuntu 10.10 / GNOME ):
(IMG:http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/8186/xboxburner.png)
Download here: XBoxBurner 1.0 - Linux
XBoxBurner needs the following to run:
- Qt library (4.7 are urgently recommended!)
- growisofs (part of the dvd+rw-tools)
Windows and MacOSX versions are in preparation! I hope, this little app will help you!
Please write me your opinions! New ideas, suggestions, improvements, criticism and other feedback are welcome!
Thx!
Chris

UI looks really nice, good work!
-
very clean looking UI, keep up the good work.

I really like the orange in the application. Something that would make this application "stand out" among the others is to add a button between the "open" and "check" buttons, and label it "ABGX Check and Patch." The button of course would run the ABGX checks and patch accordingly. Just a suggestion, thanks for the work.
-
Cool, I've seen a lots of people asking about the best/easiest way to burn in Linux and MacOS
-
Duh! Does this burn xbg3 discs????
kidding lol but it will be asked.... Any how good work man,

-
nice and clean, good job =D
-
Thanks for sharing!
-
I really could have used this a few months ago. For some reason an update to Ubuntu caused ImgBurn to write corrupted 360 discs. BTW, Aubrey, the Orange is simply a trait of the default theme for Gnome Desktop under Ubuntu, not that I disagree. It would probably look rather different were it KDE, Mac or Windows.

What does RBU / UBU stand for? I take it those are the buffers?
This post has been edited by DARKFiB3R: Apr 5 2011, 01:46 PM
-
Yes, both are buffers!
UBU = Unit Buffer Utilization
RBU = Ring Buffer Utilization (or circular buffer)
For more details look at wikipedia article of dvd+rw-tools!

Great looking GUI. I thought about making something similar a while back but got too lazy.
If anyone is interested in the command to burn Xbox 360 images, here's what I was using.
CODE
growisofs -use-the-force-luke=dao -use-the-force-luke=break:1913760 -dvd-compat -speed=2 -Z /dev/sr0=image.iso
-
Any advantage of this over ImgBurn on windows?
Or is this just for you linux and MAC people?
It does look great and I am tempted to try it, but the ol' adage "Don't fix it if it ain't broken" is drawing me back!
-
neat looking app, wouldn't mine trying the osx version when its avaliable.
are you just leaving this as a burning app? or will it be updated for ripping retail disks too?
ripping is the one thing i cant find a native osx app for.

Thanks Dynup for this simple GUI.
But, where are the Sources files? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) Please, release it under the GNU license ! I would like to translate the app in French language.
Thanks. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

It is GNU licensed (GPL2), source and multi lang comes later! ...than, translators are welcome!

imgburn has been very stable and easy to use for me personally though I wonder what advantages this software might have as it uses the dvd+rw-tools which seems to be reliable. what speed would this thing burn best at? I run 4x on all my discs just out of habit

Hi there!
Count on me to translate it into Spanish flawlessly and without any misspellings.
Greetings.
-
You can count on me to translate into Slovenian Language.

Absolutely brilliant ! Thank you for this initiative of make the only simple xbox burner for linux ! I will use it each time that I need !
-
before anyone asks: since the layer break is set manually we just open up the .iso file (no need for the .dvd file). it sounds simple and looks great, but what is the "dvd compat" button for?
-
in other words, something imgburn does automatically.
you should just put this stuff into plain terms so these regular people can understand...
who the hell would not want to finalize their disc and expect it to work in a 360
-
Not sure whether it's really of much use when running Windows, as Imgburn does the job nicely.
BUT...
For OSX and Linux, it looks very, VERY useful!
I suppose if it's been written for those two then porting to Windows just completes the lineup, a sort of bonus feature if you like.
-
oh snap, I can't wait to see what happens next.....

@mycelo:
Sorry for that, it was not my intention! I didn't think about this! I wanted a better GUI and a simply to use app only!
I see two possibilities:
1. I write your name in the about dialog and the code
2. I stop the project and delete it
What do you want?
-
@mycelo:
Done!
Again: Sorry, that was not my intention! I always adhere to the license agreements! I had simply forgotten it, because I didn't want publish the project first!
...a short mail or pn to me would have also been enough!
-
Ha, i was just logging in to mention qisoburn (which I love btw), only to be beaten by the author! mycelo I'd like to thank you for your awesome app
-
@Info:
New version 1.1 available for download (see first post) now!
-
As an OS X user this project looks amazing, however I am having problems getting it to run. All I am getting when I go to press burn is Error: Unknown error (141, 0).
Can anyone help me on this please.
Thanks in advance.
-
so usefull good job man..
-
When I try to burn an ISO after hitting start then OK I get Error: Unknown error (141,0) on Mac OS X 10.6.7. It can see my burner and the media. Can anyone tell me how to get it fixed. Thanks.

cant see any gain using this, bash functions kick its ass

CODE
# ammend dvd writer if changed
# xbox360 bash functions
growiso360x2 () { growisofs -use-the-force-luke=dao -use-the-force-luke=break:1913760 -dvd-compat -speed=2 -Z /dev/sr0="$@"; }
growiso360x4 () { growisofs -use-the-force-luke=dao -use-the-force-luke=break:1913760 -dvd-compat -speed=4 -Z /dev/sr0="$@"; }
growiso360x6 () { growisofs -use-the-force-luke=dao -use-the-force-luke=break:1913760 -dvd-compat -speed=6 -Z /dev/sr0="$@"; }
growiso360x8 () { growisofs -use-the-force-luke=dao -use-the-force-luke=break:1913760 -dvd-compat -speed=8 -Z /dev/sr0="$@"; }
### and for normal images
growisoburn1 () { growisofs -dvd-compat -speed=1 -Z /dev/sr0="$@"; }
growisoburn2 () { growisofs -dvd-compat -speed=2 -Z /dev/sr0="$@"; }
growisoburn4 () { growisofs -dvd-compat -speed=4 -Z /dev/sr0="$@"; }
growisoburn8 () { growisofs -dvd-compat -speed=8 -Z /dev/sr0="$@"; }
growisoburn12 () { growisofs -dvd-compat -speed=12 -Z /dev/sr0="$@"; }
growisoburn16 () { growisofs -dvd-compat -speed=16 -Z /dev/sr0="$@"; }
###
basicly
"rouneh@foo ~ $ growiso360 image.iso"
in any term (yes screen via ssh is ftw) i sometimes combine with abgx along the lines of
"rouneh@foo ~ $ abgx360 -vc --af3 --splitvid image.iso && growiso360x4 image.iso && eject"
ideal when X aint running
