Title: Iso2god V1.3.3
Post by: WarriorSan on June 10, 2010, 01:41:00 PM
Version 1.3.3 is released:

Iso2God is a tool used to convert an Xbox 360 and Xbox 1 ISO images into Games on Demand containers, removing the need for a DVD drive in your 360.

This release doesn't add any new features, so no need to be excited just yet  Support for running Iso2God on Linux using Wine/Mono should now be improved a bit. Free disk space checks are broken still and are unlikely to be fixed, but the rest of the app reportedly works fine now. Thanks to MikeJJ for helping out with testing and hunting down some of the issues.

This app now comes in two variants, one with an installer to things a bit quicker for Windows users and one without an installer for Linux users. If you intend to use Iso2God on Linux you'll need to install Wine and Mono.

Changelog for v1.3.3
~ Fixed some errors with the settings code.
~ Assemblies are now merged rather than embedded to improve compatability with Wine/Mono on Linux.

Our graphics were done by threesixtyuser from these forums, so a big thanks for the time he spent doing those, I'm sure you'll all agree they're a big improvement

Any bugs that crop up, please leave a reply here rather than sending a PM. If you could state exactly what you did when the bug happened and exactly what I2G said in it's error messages, that would be a great help.

Enjoy!

Ok, I did some searching and I can't find the answer to what will probably be considered a dumb question:

Do I have to have a JTag'd xbox to use these games-on-demand containers?  Or can I just use one of the pc connection kits to download the game from the pc to the xbox hard drive after conversion.

I think these quotes by the author, answer your questions (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
QUOTE
It seems the reason the disk space checks are failing is because Mono doesn't support the System.Management namespace which I've been using. I can check disk space using stuff from the System.IO namespace instead, which is fully implemented in Mono, but I'm not too sure how I2G will behave with unix paths so I'll have to do a bit of testing on that.
QUOTE
As I mentioned I have plans to rewrite I2G from scratch at some point as I didn't bother doing much designing before coding, so as a result the code isn't the efficient in many places. Once I get started on that I'll try and do some testing under Wine & Mono while I'm developing to try and make it a bit easier to get it up and running on linux systems as well.

Will this work by copying the folder to USB flash (pen) drives?

It hasn't worked with mine which is a good indicator, but I might be doing something wrong!

Spa8nky, the program or the god container ?
The program should work from anywhere in Windows. In wine, it needs to be on the virtual drive_c otherwise it looks for gtk libraries in the wrong place.

The god container needs to be where ever the 360 looks for god containers. smile.gif

The GOD container.  I have a folder created by the programme from a backup iso.

I have formatted a USB drive to work on the XBOX 360.  It has a folder now called Xbox360 which contains Data0000 through Data0013.

Where do I put the GOD container folder "4541000B" on the USB stick?

Thanks

As much as I love using GOD's on the regular Xbox360 HDD (using this ISO2GOD app), when using my USB HD I've been using "Extract-XISO Gui for Windows by Huge" to remove the padding & shrink the size of the game first & then put it on the USB drive (otherwise that 1.5TB will be gone before I know it lol).

I don't think this option exists as of now but is there a way we could choose where to FTP the files to? For those of us with a Microsoft HDD as well as a USB HD? Could that maybe be in a soon to be released version? And also remove the $SystemUpdate folder (if it's not already done with your prog).

jimbo70, Iso2God also removes padding and re-organises the files to be minimum space smile.gif
I believe removing $SystemUpdate is planned for KrK's next project.
As for the Ftp, i believe that nobody has suggested an option to choose between HDD and USB as the target before, so I'll mention that to him smile.gif

@MrMikeJJ, sorry, yes I had forgotten that Iso2God removes the padding as you said, unfortunately due to the editing system on this site I couldn't go back & edit that first post a little later. Iso2God already works great at what it does but would be even better (in my opinion) with those 2 other features added. Thanks for passing on the request(s) to KrK.   smile.gif

I have been using iso2god ALOT lately. I have many Xbox 1 isos. when I try to load them it errors out "failed to open ISO Image. Reason: Unable to read beyond the end of the stream." I would love to put my Xbox 1 collection on GOD. Anybody?

I've been having a major problem with Dragons Age crashing. It happens after I've died and it's loading the last save, but I just get the background picture but no "Loading" message or anything else and the Guide button doesn't work, so the box has clearly crashed. I played Assassin's Creed II for about an hour after and that didn't crash, so it seems to be that game.

I doubt it's anything to do with Iso2god but thought I'd mention it in case anyone else has had any problems with this game.

I got round the Dragons Age crashing problem by manually selecting the last save, rather than using the "Load last auto-save" option. Don't know why this would make a difference, but it did.

Hopefully the bug was specific to the area I was in (The Fade) and I won't have to do this for the rest of the game. Guess I could just try to avoid dying!

Does anyone else's antivirus pick this program up as a trojan? I got it off here and it said I needed xextool which I got off of xbins. I disabled my av software knowing that some things act like trojans but aren't. I played around with it last night and then shut it down and restarted my AV. I got a notice from AV overnight that it had blocked xextool from opening (trojan warning). I wasn't worried until then, why would that start up on its own?

There are a lot of ISOs where for some reason the game name cannot be read from default.xex correctly (reports "Unable to read game name.").  As a workaround, I can generate a report with ABGX (which does read it correctly) and then paste the correct name into ISO2GOD.  Just wondering if this is an appropriate place to report the issue, or if anyone knows of a better place for that.

Nevermind, found the right place (listed at the bottom of the first post in this thread).

This is such a great program. I'm not huge on using Mono though so I virtualise (Windows XP) on Linux. Samba share to virtual machine to this and it works great. Some games have some DUMB titles built-in. So glad I get to change these when I add a new ISO. All the games I've used with it have worked perfectly, including many Xbox1 games.

While the 360 dashboard is a little less useful on JTAG consoles due to lack of Xbox Live, I still prefer it over any homebrew ones thus far. So GoD containers are the way to go for me.

great program! only one question:

i have an old jtag with xbr3 and 8955 dashboard, if i use this program to convert my iso of some new games (like mafia 2) that have the dashboard 9199, the app delete the $systemupdate folder and convert the iso into god?

from what i know the GOD files haven't any dashboard update method but i'm not sure of this..anyone can confirm it?

thanks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Hi Guys, any news about a new version of Iso2God ?

I think it would be a good idea to add that systemupdate removal asap.

I have myself for now a Jtag console with XBR and i found that i ll be able to play newest multi dvd games like Castlevania LOS :
-If burned on DVD : game of course asks if you want to update.
-If extracted to hard drive with $systemupdate folder removed : when loading the game asks for DVD2 insertion..
-If trying to merge the files of both DVDs the loading will just hang.

Hopefully we will see such an option or some app being able to do so, just trying to bring your attention not on only on xbr owners but also on future Dash updates if no new freeboot get released (to prevent a some stuck situation).

The fact that you're still using XBR 8955 is the problem. The real reason to scrap the System Update folder is because of the new Kinect dashboard that won't be Jtag safe for a little while
