So I've pulled apart my official 20gb drive, and it is currently backing up all data on Partition 2 & 3 - But I was thinking (since I don't have my 360 at home right now), can I format the 500GB and restore the contents of the harddrive without having to run something like XBR on the 360 and do it all Windows-side so the harddrive is ready to go when I get the box back? To the best of my knowledge, no. Formatting, as far as I'm aware, must be done on the 360. Hard to say. I know there are guides out there on restoring proper partitions on the formatted non-M$ drives. May have to format them first, though. Also, doing this requires using a tool to physically dump an image of the drive's original partitions, so your backup method may not work properly for this, depending on how you did it.
