Title: Dosflash 1.8 Showing 1.7

trying to flash benq drive. my question is running dosflash 1.8 off of usb drive it shows up as 1.7. my computer is dell vostro 220. is the dosflash actually pulling up from somewhere on my computer(all other drives unhooked) or is this normal to show up as 1.7.   also, not seeing my drive, will i need the sata controller or whatever you call it to hook up to my computer. thanks.
