Team XeDev released a new version of QuickBoot. QuickBoot allows you to build "short cut" LIVE containers that will allow you to launch applications directly from NXE.
What's new/fixed: * Added AutoBuild option to scan specified directory and automatically build QuickBoot containers. This is intended to be used with games and games are expected to be stored on either USB:\Games or HDD:\Games.
Official Site: n/a, by Team XeDev Download: n/a (contains files built with XDK) Full NFO/Readme: xbins.org

yeah? kinda the same question here.
Does the autobuild auto add the icon from xex or something?
-
Extracts PNG and Name from the xex.
It's still the PC app for now, Xbox 360 app will be coming soon.
-
SWEET!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/love.gif)
... is the new NXE2GOD out yet?

This is cool! No more saving png files!
-
does it show achievments like nxe2GOD?
-
Great progress! well done to all concerened - cant wait for 360 app (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

No. This just creates a short cut to the game on your HDD or USB drive.
@dstruktiv Fantastic job. Works great. Auto-scanned my external USB drive and created 45 containers without issue.
One thing I did notice was in the description some games say "QuickBoot <game_name>" others just say "<game_name>. Not a biggie but thought I would mention it.
-
Where do the auto built containers end up?
-
Does this work with my XBLA backups?
Normally I should install it this way:
Extract contents, copy top folder to HDD using your favorite
HDD tool to the following location:
Partition 3 / Content / 0000000000000000
But my x360 hard drive is broken :-s
So I hope this way I can play these games straight from USB hdd !! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pop.gif)

will the new NXE2GOD extract name and PNG and be coded for 360? Also I noticed there was a NXE2GOD XEX and a NXE2GOD LIVE, what are the differences?

No that's one of the disadvantages of this method. We're *very* close to being able to launch GOD images off of USB etc. so QuickBoot may soon become obsolete for games.
-
So this new version is like a "indexer" ... Works only on PC to index files and shorcuts ? I still have to test the NXE2GOD (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
But xexteam are making a hell of a progress ... soon just one app will do allmost everything (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

Hahah awesome, so you did do it after all (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
I'm chr0m in irc and was talking to you about this the other day. You said there would be no image extraction (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Something to note from just trying this out: When you use the auto-build function, it always displays the message to copy to the 00070000 folder on the HDD whether or not the file type selected is Xbox 360 Game or Game Demo. It does, however, display correctly when you manually design the container.

Thanks Team XeDev! Works great, keep up the great work. Its appreciated! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Not sure if anyone else ranned into this problem but I didn't get all my game containers right.
Lots of them put title name of the folder name in my usbhdd.
Example:
usb:\games\odstsp\default.xex
NXE will show game title of ODSTSP with the default icon image ( it didn't extract the icon from the XEX correctly)
It does boot to the game, but this autobuild feature didn't work as I though it would.
Thanks.
Anyone else?

That's the fallback of the autobuild feature, if it can't extract the xex details it will use the folder name and default image.
-
Not all Xex's have icon and title in their header.
I have a way to manage this and make things easier coming soon.
-
Next release will build upon and improve the AutoBuild feature included in 1.2, it will allow for review and manual updating of the files picked up during the scan. Some xex's do not have the title or image embedded in their header, in that case QuickBoot will read the title from the folder name and select the default XeDev png, this review screen allows you to manually type in the title and locate the correct PNG while still keeping the automation and simplicity of AutoBuild.

All feedback and suggestions are welcomed.
-
This is excellent, can't wait to try it out.
-
All I can comment on is that I can't wait for the new release! Good job on this dev!
-
looking great... like the idea of editing title... not a big fan of the "TM" and other odd characters and abbreviations... it would be nice to see an option to use folder names only as titles...keep up the good work!
-
Looks Great keep up the good work.
-
Would this be able to read HFS+ formatted usb drives by chance if you have something like macdrive installed?
-
I would suggest adding the option to change the default folder. IE "Games\Banoyetta" to something like "Xbox 360 Games\Banoyetta" etc
-
Any news on the new version?
