Does this mean we no longer need a DVD drive to get Xell up and running? (since couple my xbox units have broken drives and lost dvdkeys)

You haven't needed the dvd drive for roughly a billion years.

DVD keys can be recovered from exploitable boxes. (Even without a physical dvd drive)

doesn't work.. it  installed fine,

but now it has a nag message in french, (excuse my poor french translation:)

It's necessary to have Cygwin + Python installed

BUT i have this installed 100% on my PC (d:\cygwin)

i'm guessing its looking for it @ c drive and it doesn't check the registry for it.

You can change it to english by clicking the english flag in the bottom left corner

it looks for cygwin on c:\cygwin , no idea if it can be changed

what worries me more is that i have compiled hack.bin and my8955.bin using this tool and the technique described in the readme for freeboot and the hashes don't match.
anyone used this new tool yet and had success ?

Thanks. i've been wanting to do exactly thesame thing. Guess I'll just stick to using the freeboot readme..
/uninstalls.

also i wasn't able to change the language on the error message i got.

i figured cygwin wasn't found, so i had indeed been looking for a config file to specify the directory of cygwin.. no go

This tool works great, My Xbox360 was the first one flashed by the tool before it was released.
Thanks a lot SoulHeaven for what you did. Please donate to him smile.gif

Don't forget, you need cygwin in C drive, and also need your own patched smc created by Cygnos Toolbox.

Yes , looks like a great tool.

Any ideas why the hashes of the flash files made by this tool and those made by the 'old' manual method (as per readme with freeboot) do not match ???

So with a Cygnos chip, can I install the hack on a NXE Xbox 360? I think this is probably a noobish question, but the only places I can find answers to this have conflicting answers.  Thanks in advance.

You get this error if you don't fill ing ALL the data. The app requires SMC.bin,Orig.bin,your cpukey and your mobo type to work.

No. That was not the problem.

When you install CygWin remember to choose additional packages for installation. Choose  "python" and "python-crypto".

Ok. I got the .bin files created. It does not work however. I got black screen or RRoD 0022.

I made the .bin files following the freeBOOT guide and that worked. I just skipped the parts 8-9 and used the files from 8955.zip instead.

Using cygwin was a little bit tricky. I copied the freeboot folder to c:\cygwin\home\username\.
I needed the smc.bin file. It can be created with Cygnos360 toolbox. I copied the smc.bin to the freeboot folder and then wrote these commands to the cygwin console:
cd freeboot
python build.py bin/jasper_hack.bin smc.bin
Then flashed the my8955.bin and hack.bin to the Cygnos360 V2 and Xbox 360 NAND.

i don't get why anyone would try and use this, if the hashes are different then when using the manual method in the freeboot readme  uhh.gif

I thought the Cygnos chip would allow you to have a "dual boot" environment, utilizing a second dashboard if necessary. Is that not correct?

When you're doing the manual method, what version of XeLL are you specifying in the 'python build.py ...' command line? Is there any chance the version of XeLL which this app uses is different? Run fc /b against both versions and see where the differences are. FTR I ran this for my last cygnos install and it worked like a charm.
