@ironjules

You need a JTAG Or RGH'd console for this to work.

Have just finished creating this tool XBLA Unlocker. It will unlock LIVE/PIRS files and enable them as the full version.

Useful if you've been banned and want to play the content you own on a modded Xbox.

It will recursively scan a folder directory and patch all LIVE/PIRS files it finds.

Functionality wise this is exactly the same as Yaris Swap although it has a nicer interface and I've found it patches faster when pointed at large directories.

I've tested and verified this works on over 80 Xbox Live Arcade games.

Will be the last update unless I get any feature requests... I might start looking at game save modding or something similar...

No, files unlocked with this tool will only work on XReboot/Freeboot enabled Xbox's.

It really has 3 uses...

1: If you legally own xbox live arcade content but your Xbox has been banned and you have purchased and modded a second Xbox, you can then use this tool to unlock the full version of the trial games on the modded xbox (Usually this would require Xbox live).

2: If you own a Live enabled Xbox and a modified one then you may like to have access to your legally owned Xbox Live Arcade content on both Xbox's.

3: You can illegally enable trial games that you do not own to the full version to play on your modded Xbox. I do not encourage or support this.

Updated - 14/12/2009

Mostly UI changes, now displays just the Title ID which is a very good reference when trying to organise the files on your Xbox HDD.

UPDATED - Linux version released.

Functionality between Windows and Linux releases are identical. Linux release depends on Mono packages being installed by your package manager will take care of that.

Very nice app!!  A couple comments.

It will crash for me if I open the whole partition3, but seems to work fine if i select only \3\Content\0000000000000000    (Winxp)

Perhaps add a confirmation box for when you hit the "enable full version" button.  Something like "This will permanently alter your data, are you sure?"

Nice work, thanks.

Have added updated Windows and Linux versions that now have a confirmation box, also fixed a bug where if there was a "." in the folder name it would be skipped.

Very nice program. Some things I'd like to chime in with:

Unhanded exception if files are deleted/moved while the program still has them open

As far as some new features, maybe have a filesize displayed, ability to delete games through the program, edit the displayed name (if possible?)

Keep up the good work!

For some reason my UMK3 says it's "FULL" in xbla unlocker, but when I goto the NXD dash, it says it's an Arcade game Trial?

Why is the app saying it's the Full version, when in the NXE dash, it's not? This is the only game doing this to me.

Thank You

would it be possible to anonymize console ID info on the content you are modifying at the same time?  It can be done in hex editing but would be easier to do if your awesome program could do it all at the same time.

I'm not really interested in pursuing this any further sorry I'm moving on to bigger things heh will release the source code for this later on so someone else can add additional features. No mocking the source either, there's a few lines of code there for getting the title that make me laugh when I read them now, it was before I understood what unicode was lol but I'll leave it as is.

Beta release is up:

http://www.digitalreality.co.nz/xbox360/?p=152

It's pretty limited atm, just covers the xbla stuff but does include some new features people were wanting in XBLA Unlocker.

Will continue to refine existing features and start adding support for a broader range of files.

Feedback and bug reports are welcome (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Well it works smile.gif

Scan files will find all xbla content. Unlock will unlock all files that are trial versions. And there's a locked or unlocked pic beside the title names so you know whats what.

Will get a nicer UI and fix up the title names and release tomorrow or something.

This is so awesome and broley it gave me a BRONER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1 vs. 100 can be installed on XBR? What is the point?

Also Anicents of Ooga isn't even out yet...unless someone is leaking partnernet!

Last edit! Is it possibly to say download the trials off Live with the program having direct links to the DL files? For trials? I know you can do this with wii. Or maybe you can DL them from your PC with a proxy server.

Right now, the database of titles comes from here:

http://360.kingla.co...ype=Arcade#list

So, whether it is released or not doesn't matter...if it's on that site with a titleID, it will be recognized.

The fact that it might not make any sense to install it isn't captured here...But I do plan to have a way to mark something as "have" even though you don't...just so it never shows up as missing anymore.  So, it will mean "I know I don't have this, and I don't want it, so stop annoying me about it..."

That won't make the first release since we are trying to get it out soon to get much of the newly added code into user's hands.

No worries...While waiting for the latest code drop I started working on new features, and furthering the re-factoring of the code.

What's working:
1) Locate the "database" of known existing XBLA titles on any USB mount.  If it isn't found, it uses the one built into the "game:".  This allows users to update the database easily.
2) Display titles that you have, and titles that are missing.  (earlier screen shot was posted)
3) Ability to "mark" a title that is missing as "excluded" using the "X" button.  Excluded means that it should be considered as "have" instead of "missing".  A file is written that lets the user modify this by hand as well.
4) Create a report on the first USB mount found.  The report lists titles you have, titles you have excluded, and titles that are "missing"

That will be the first release (before the weekend, I would imagine).  Considerations for a next release:
1) Ability to "rate" titles.  1 to 4 stars.  (LB and RB, much like thumbs up/thumbs down on a TiVo)
2) Ability to change the sort/filter order:  Only Have, Only Missing, Ordered by Stars
3) Ability to launch a title right from the list.  I'd really love to be able to pop into this app, sort by stars, and launch my favorites...
4) If there was a definitive list of XBLA titles that also included the release date, I'd love to include that...

Sorry, I should have been more specific.  That list is great...but it's mostly useless since it doesn't include the titleIds like this one:  http://360.kingla.co...ype=Arcade#list

It's the IDs that are important for identifying the titles.  :-(

Edit: Is XM360 also working with 'Download Content' (DLC) or Avatar Clothes? - I purchased a few things from both categories (like the fable add-ons).

Edit2: The version above my post is not working.
I tried to patch Assault Heroes 2 and Rocket Riot, but if I klick "Unlock", it just sends a message in the left, down corner with "Unlocked 0 Xbox Live Arcade Files".
I'm using freeBOOT v0.02.

Hi node,

Do you know when this will be on DR or Xbins...

btw this looks like a great app I hope you and dstruktiv keep up the good work.

Also I have one suggestion, I'm personally not a big fan of having weird titles for games on my console. So I was wondering instead of putting 'Have' or 'Need' would it be possible to have a small image as a prefix of the line with a green tick (This?) or a red x (This?) also will be possible to filter between the lists and remember the one you were in last, as for 90% of the time I personally would want to be able to see all the games I 'Have' and then if I decide I want a new game, but aren't sure whats about I would then change the filter to the 'Need' filter so I can see what to look for.

Please note these are only suggestions, and maybe most people prefer the text etc

Thanks again for all the hard work on this app,

Vel

Vel,

I'm tyring to get it up there now.

No worries about the titles...they aren't actually changed on the 360...The HAVE and NEED, etc are just informational.  In fact, they are only there if you go into the Collection Manager.  If you just "scan" you'll only see what you have, without any name decorations.  So, I think that also negates the requirement to "remember" where you were...

That's a fair point, I guess I was thinking of the tool to aim towards been a launcher for all XBLA, Emus, as you could then customise how they were arrange, Alphabetical release number etc etc, but I guess the 'Collection Manager' is more or less for reference purposes...almost like an easy way of seeing which titles you are missing,

Thanks to a suggestion on IRC,  I'm changing the source of the database for XM360.  It now comes from MS directly...

This means that I have:
Release Date (in some cases, N/A if it hasn't been released yet)
Average Rating
Count of Ratings

Of course, TitleId and Title as well.

I'll be adding those to XM360 shortly, after I figure out a reasonable way to display all of that information!

Look for version 0.4 in the next day or so.

I've added the ability to launch XBLA titles directly.

This means you can launch XM360, sort by rating, and launch the highest rated titles.  :-)

where exactly is the arcade game content located in my xbox 360 HDD so that I can get it into my PC in order to use this tool?

I have the HDD transfer tool and Xplorer 360. I have my XBLA games in the HDD, but since I can't sign onto Xbox Live, my Arcade games show up as trial games.

--

I would just like to add that on my unbanned console I swapped the HDD to that console, and I can't play the XBLA games unless I sign into Xbox Live, but the console is modded so I've chosen to disable Xbox live on that console. I did try that Licensing thing from Microsoft, but it didn't help. The only game I can play is Hexic HD. The rest show up as trials.

The files/folders are found @ hdd:\Content\0000000000000000\ on partition 3.

Is it just the Arcade games in there, or will it be all my DLC like map packs, etc.?

If it's all DLC, is there a way to distinguish XBLA games between the other DLC?

edit:
I just want to be sure, if I use this tool and swap this HDD onto an unmodded legit console and use it for Xbox Live, will I get banned for possibly modifying the XBLA content?

Everything is there, however this version of the tool only alters the Arcade titles.

Whether MS will care if you swap this back to an unbanned console, is unknown.

This is a better app, if you only want to edit selected titles...  and it can also patch DLC, but must be run on your 360, not on the PC.

On an legit console, and a console without the JTAG exploit, the modified/unlocked Arcade titles read as corrupt. Just an fyi.

Of course they do.  Once they are unlocked, the checksum/hash/signature will be detected as corrupt on a non-jtag box.  Otherwise, everyone would be "unlocking" and using them on their legit console!

Really? Are you sure? I totally would have thought unsigned code would run on an un-modded console? You sure you did it right?

Hello,

So I have a Jtag console and an old hdd which had some XBLA titles and dlc content.

The XBLA and DLC were locked when I moved the hdd from my banned console to the Jtagged one.
I used XBLA Unlocker but now all the content say it's corrupted.

Is there any way to fix this?
I know I can grab most of the xbla titles again but some of the DLC is harder to track down such as the Japanese Naruto voices and rock band licenses.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

KK

Unless you saved a backup copy of the originals, you will need to re-download them from live.

Well actually, do me a favor... Go to 0x237 (? 99% sure it's 0x237 - I'm at work) and change the byte from a '1' to a '0' then save it. I'll put money on it now working again on the non jtagg'd console. XBLA Unlocker will be outdated soon when new XM360 comes out, I'll add in the option to reverse the changes.

Thanks for the suggestions.

It actually says the files are corrupted on the Jtagged console. Is this not meant to be?
At any rate I changed the hex value as suggested and the XBLA titles and dlc still say corrupted on both consoles.
I've compared my files to internet ones and mine are smaller, for N+ mine is 12175k and ones off the net (which work) 13288k.

I'd really like to know whats going on here and why the content appears corrupted.

As I said I can re-grab some of the stuff off the internets but some of the dlc are obscure and not so easy to find.

My app changes a single byte at 0x237. The differences in file size mean that you've either downloaded bad copies originally or you've done something else to corrupt them. Sorry but there's no way may app could possibly do anything other than a single byte swap.

Extract the folder that's all hex (i.e. the actualy XBLA game) and copy the folder to HDD1\Content\0000000000000000. It should then appear in the XBLA menu

EDIT: DOH, ignore that. You mean HOW...fire up Xexmenu or Freestyle dash and they both have an inbuilt FTP server, so you can FTP them over - IP is the IP of yr 360 (der) and username/pass is xbox/xbox by default. If you haven't got anything installed yet, then you'll need to connect your HDD to your PC and use something like XPort or FATXplorer etc to copy files to it.
