Redline99 released a small tool to remap bad blocks in an XBReboot image to match with your NAND chip, this could solve issues some people had trying to make XBReboot work:
Quote

This is a small tool that will remap bad blocks in a full 16mb "zeropaired" (xbreboot) nand image.  It looks at the original Microsoft backup (that you should have) and figures out from the spare area the remapped bad blocks.  You can also enter the block id's into the textbox.  It does not modify the original MS image, but it does modify the zeropaired image. Run the app only one time, be sure to make a backup beforhand.

This app has had ZERO testing, If anything comes up I'll try and fix it, but I need some feedback.

This is only for 16mb images, non jasper.

Download: here (untested)

Um will try this.  Anything that make the remap easier can only be good.

I know this will never happen But at First we needed cygnosis now just the onboard nand will do..
What next?

Who cares what c4eva and thx do... this is what its all about

I'm hooked again, checkin this site at least a couple ov times a day.. Just like the good ole days (xbox1 - evox - xbmc)

Big thanks to all thats making this possible pop.gif  pop.gif  pop.gif

Why c4eva? He is a DVD hacker not kernel hacker.

Well buy the games instead of pirating them.  The whole point of this to my mind is to be able to run homebrew easily and still play games on  the same box.

This is true and its great to see the scene moving forward so fast but i'm not so sure this mod will be for everyone. One, its not noob friendly and two, i'm sure 90% of the people don't have exploitable consoles. I know i wish i had one  sad.gif

Its not that hard to find an exploitable kernel, i just asked my friends and anyone else if they had any dead xboxs. sure enough now have a falcon with hdmi and is exploitable 6717 , just ask around man its only gonna get harder to find them as time goes on.

+1 for  "Well buy the games instead of pirating them. The whole point of this to my mind is to be able to run homebrew easily and still play games on the same box."

homebrew is awsome, still rocking the PSP2000 lol

Sure, playing Iso's on the 360 and decryption of owned Rockband DLC is cool,  BUT it wouldn't be possible if there wasnt an interest in homebrew

JUST alone to be able to run MAME or any emulator is superb.

heck, who knows if overclocking the 360 CPU and GPU might happen because of homebrew
and a new way to eradicate RROD finally (fingers crossed lol)

I'm testing this right now. I have two bad blocks that, among 6 different reads, will not go away.

Will update on success/fail

Seems to have worked! I tried programming around the bad blocks but I got an E71 shortly after the xbox logo showed up....

Well there you have it. I had three bad blocks and it remapped it. Thanks creator!

I have a 512 Nand with 3 bad blocks. Just wondering how to manually remap them in my XBR.bin? Degraded doesn't support 512 NANDs. I don't know how to find out where it remapped the bad blocks to in my original Nand, so I don't know where to remap them in XBR? Ideas?

In degraded I get ---------- Note: BadBlock 0x230 found at 0x3ff

in bad block mover I get ------------  Found Block ID 0x0230 at offset  0x0107BE00

Are these supposed to be different numbers after each 0x230?

hey guys need some help here - tried all day yesterday to get this ish to work.  first with xbreboot 8955_3 tried it many times tried patching my kv and raw config to the file tried just patching kv and i've also just programmed xbreboot rawkv and rawconfig individually but still a NO GO - It will boot my dashboard but never would it boot to xbr or xell for that matter -  I checked dash board and it wrote fine as i was on dash 8955 so i went back to xbins and got the xbr_1 (btw i'm using a xenon mobo)  wrote all 3 files individually (xbr.bin - kv.bin and config.bin ) booted it up and it worked - well partially it will still boot the dash board and also would boot xell but xell would freeze at the bottom (it says "Your cpu key is xxxxxx - and your dvd key is xxxxxxx - )  and would never go any further .  I'm not a noob at all when it comes to stuff like this .  All my connections are good i've checked my dumped bin file with flashtool  no problems and i've also used bad block remapper - which says there are no errors in my backup dump but does find 1 bad block in xbr.bin (original)  and remaps it  but still nogo  - also xell tells me i should try installing by cdrom .  i have pics if needed I will post up. Right now i'm writting back my original nand1.bin to see if it puts me back on the 7xxx dash

IPB Image   this is as far as xell will boot using the 8955_1 (8955_3  never boots up to xell will just sit there with a black screen but does boots dashboard)

IPB Image this pic is xell showing my fusesets and giving a dvd error

IPB Image this pic is after all the frustration i flashed my original nand1.bin back to 360  shows i am back on 7xxx dash which tells me that i'm doing the right steps but for the life of me can not get this thing to boot past xell and can not get 8955_3 to boot to xell at all

you need to type  COMDLG32.OCX into google and you will find the file, download it and instal to system32 folder then run it from start menu somehow, i found the tutorial here and the file actually,
