Hi
you will still need a ck3 and a probe, or an alternative.

Is'int it just a collection of tools and firmware or am I missing something? Ive seen this included in loads of ebay auctions.

where can I download the ISO ?
-
Thanks for release this, this will make my life easier. Now as long as they update when they release a new firmware or when is a dashboard update, then its awesome.
-
It's more than just a collection of tools.
It's a collection of all the tools necessary to mod all three drives, scripted in a way that makes the whole process automated and requires no disc/firmware preparation by the user.
Basically, it's a bootable auto-modding disc. No DOS knowledge necessary, and it even walks you through the detailed hardware steps to perform the modifications.
The 'easy' way to mod Samsung, BenQ, and Lite-On drives, just boot the disc, and follow the instructions. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

Being on a CDR, how does it go about backing up the original firmware before a flash?
-

Says in the first "NOTE" requires an NTFS drive. I am assuming this is for backing up purposes.

this looks like it might come in handy if it works well. I might give it a try if i get the chance.

it saves the files in a folder on the c drive

Sounds a bit similar to SlaYer's EvoX Auto-Installer... mmm.. just like the good ol' days!
-
looking forward to trying this out. thanks!!!
-
Nice job, just make sure your system RAM is good, it uses a RAM disk to dump the files to first.
A good idea would be to load the Firmware from HDD, instead of having to write a new CD every time a release comes out.

Just to clarify, the Lite-On modification process on my disc uses a RAMDISK, but the Samsung/BenQ modification process does not.
Although the good ram comment still applies.
P.S. The Lite-On firmware files are only stored on the RAMDISK for a moment, after the dump they are immediately transferred to the specified folder on the HDD.
QUOTE(Klutsh @ Jan 31 2009, 06:35 PM)

Yes, that would be a cool feature, but the general idea of this disc is that it requires no user action before use. If the user had to place the iXtreme firmwares in specific folders for each drive before each use of the disc, it would defeat the convenience this disc is really meant for. Also, what if the user placed the incorrect firmwares in the incorrect folders and then flashed the drive? We would have users flashing Lite-On drives with BenQ firmware or Samsung firmware or vice-versa, which would be very, very bad...
It would leave too much room for human error... the way the disc is currently programmed makes it 'newbie-friendly'.

Theoretically yes, that would work fine.

No one Seems to Have asked this question ,So I will
as I think it is very important.
Say I was to use this disk in conjunction with a liteon , Shoul I be worried about the liteon serial info ?
Will this copy all the relevant info from the liteon especially the CORRECT SERIAL INFO .
Thank you for your time and this application .

Well, I have personally modded over 30 Lite-On drives using my modification disc, and they have all worked perfectly.
This disc uses the newest version of DosFlash to dump the key/serial/identify/inquiry information. AFAIK the newest version of DosFlash does dump this information correctly.
All three drive types have been extensively tested using this disc to ensure correct operation.

I have tested my disc with my nForce3 chipset and also my ICH8 chipset and I have had mixed results.
Samsung seems to be the only drive that really cares about using the VT6421 card, but BenQ has also been known to be picky. You can try using another chipset, but you would be doing so at your own risk.
The VIA VT6421 PCI SATA card does work 100% with all drives using this disc though, and you can usually get one for less than $10. I would recommend picking one up if you don't already have one.
Even if you only need to mod your personal drive once, you would only be investing $10 to do so, which is totally worth the price to do it correctly.

Thank you for your swift reply Sir.
Once we flash the liteon with this disk (looks like a great job m8 ty) would we be able to look at the saved logs on the drive , to confirm correct serial data has been extracted ? Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question after you have stated you used the lastest Dos flash, but I do get Paranoid tendancies. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

and for the samsung do i still need iprep

How about Lite-On ?
I'm using a Mobo with VIA VT8237S chipset. Have you had any experience with this one? I don't know if it'll work perfectly with the Lite-On.
In case they don't go along nicely, could you tell me what will happen?
Will my system freeze or reboot midway or something, rendering the drive unusable?
In such case, is there any way to fix the problem?
I asked as I cannot find the said SATA card in my country, so using on-board SATA controller is my only option.
FYI, I have 3 comps right now with the following chipsets:
- VIA VT8237S
- VIA VT8237R
- ATI SB600
In your opinion, which one is the best for this task?
Thanks for your reply.

Hi there,
I´ve a Liteon drive and i´m going to mod it.
Just a few questions before doing it:
1- With this .iso do i still need the ck probe and the connectivity kit?
2- If so, can i use the lite connectivity kit? the one via serial cable.
3-This .iso, when starts does it says when to connect all the things, when to open the tray, when to reboot the CK, etc?
4- In the PC we only have one hard disk formated in ntfs and boot from the cd?
Thanks for everything, and keep up on doing this wonderfull work!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Okay, I will try to cover all the recent questions:
@rigger66 - Yes, the key.bin, inquiry.bin, identify.bin, and the final ixtreme.bin files for the Lite-On drives are all backed up to the folder of your choice on the 'C' drive of your PC during the modification process, so you could easily check the dump information in that folder.
@PrTv - The Lite-On drives are fairly compatible with different SATA chipsets, it might work fine on your onboard VIA chipset. (VIA chipsets are really compatible, so it might work just fine) If it didn't work though, it would most likely fail when flashing the drive. Just MAKE SURE that the dumping process of the key.bin/inquiry.bin/identify.bin files goes smoothly and is successful before continuing with a different chipset. But as I have said before, using any other chipset is at your own risk.
@Jah Taz - Yes, you will still need to bridge the R707 resisitor if you are using a CK3 lite. The normal CK3 will not work AFAIK because it is USB based. Only serial based dumping cables will work properly with this disc, you can find a diagram for a simple serial cable you can build to do the job located on the disc. (you can build this cable for about $5 in parts)
@kyllaz - The disc's menus will walk you through each step of the entire modification process. You will still need a serial cable though, I would recommend using the CK3 lite (because it is serial based, my disc is not compatible with USB versions) and the probe. I have a quick question.
I currently have the via vt6421 pci to sata card.
Is it possible to flash a lite on drive (or any of the others for that matter) with this disc using the maximus 360 xtractor and spear?
If not, what else would I need to be able to flash the drives with this disc?
-
feels sorry for frosty, I've just read this whole topic from page one and read all the comments.....I've seen every question answered by someone else.....so to all you people that are asking the same questions start at page 1 and read till the end u will find your answer before you have to make your post....
on a side note, props to frosty, I've only used one other tool u made and that was the xbox rescue disc it's saved my ass on more than one occasion.

Just OOI
1) Why NTFS? Do you need permissions, giant files, tiny file inlining or something?
2) How NTFS? DOS totally doesn't do NTFS out of the box; it only supports FAT.
3) Why a disk? Why not a USB key so's it doesn't need a hard disk at all? BIOS issues, I suppose, but then you're depending on the BIOS to get DOS booted off a CD as well.

1. Everyone uses NTFS (Windows 2000/XP/Vista), unless you are using Windows 98, Millenium (god forbid), or Linux. File accessing and permissions are less important, NTFS just seemed to be the logical choice for compatibility. Although, this disc does still support FAT & FAT32 filesystems too.
2. NTFS4DOS, a resident memory driver that allows read/write access to NTFS partitions within DOS.
3. CD-Rs are easily burnable, most newbies are not knowledgeable on the creation of bootable flash drives. Also, if your BIOS doesn't allow DOS booting off a CD-R, your machine is probably not capable of modding anyway.

It uses firmtool and dosflash, so yes, it does copy all of the relevant serial information. This disc is simply another Xtreme Boot Maker/Iprep/Exobex batch files, etc... to allow for ease of flashing. The applications doing all of the work are the same.

stick to dosflash, or iprep for that matter.
well pardon my french but you come across like a total "asshole" ,correct me if im wrong but isnt iprep of the same ilk as frostys app? if you dont wanna use it , then dont , just dont come in here slagging off someone who has been a part of the scene since probably b4 you were born

and this disc has been beta-ed by loads of people? is this bulletproof? or will it have bugs? how long has it been tested before public release?
because i am not trusting all these automated dump/flash tools, as they usually suck, and you're better off to using the usual tools manually.

This should work fine. Frosty did a rescue disc for the old Xbox which was great.
Thanks Frosty

Hello everyone. I have a few questions about this.
Basically I modded my XBox 360 about a year and a half ago by flashing it ect...
I just wondered how much further this has got? becuase I'm thinking of modding my elite xbox but not sure where to start. Is this disk a complete resource or do I need other things?
Thank You,

-
so this disk doest work with usb to serial i guess its a dos16 bootdisk then. is it using dvdkey16 i thought dvdkey16 didnt dump the correct id info and could leed to a ban or has it been improved since that last i used it
-
In the midst of all these questions and whatnot I wanted to give the developer a thank you. I tried to use it this morning. It is a really good easy to use tool. I seem to have an issue where my Sam drive never gets recognized after the port opens and I get that 9000oa thing. It never does read that the xbox was powercycled. It's done this with many different versions of different programs. The first one to work lately was the latest Iprep. I get that whole "random number = random number, should be 70" or whatever.
SO, the point is, while I didn't get it to work on my pc, I'm sure it will work fine for others and it's a great little easy to use compilation. Congrats to you and thank you for your work! I appreciate when people take the time to make things easier.
-
Why do i get the error "Can't open file for binary reading!" with my BenQ drive?
-
Looks like a great tool, unfortunately my DVD drive isn't detected in DOS, so all I get is the RAMDISK files and none of the 360 files.
I've seen this quite a few times with other Tools running from boot CD, eg Hirens BootCD etc.
I might try modifying the files to run from USB Stick, shouldn't be too hard, you've included everything I need
I have a crazy Dell by the way!!

Probably your directory name for saving the files is too long.
When my disc prompts you to enter a name for the directory, make sure it is only 8 characters long. (this is an MS-DOS restriction)
This is a note I forgot to add into the menus on my disc, it will be added into the next release.

Same thing here was trying this with a benq and now the drive won't play any games just dvds.. It never stored the orig key anywhere on the c: drive of the pc... so i guess i'm sol with no way to get the key from the drive huh.. is there anyway to get the key from the mb itself?

If the dump fails to complete DO NOT CONTINUE, the next step erases the drive... there is no error scripting for a non-existent ORIG.BIN file, the script WILL erase your drive if you continue after a failed dump...
Are you sure you typed 'yes' at the NTFS4DOS screen?
Do you have a 'BENFILES' folder on your C: drive?
There should be a folder within that folder with your original firmware...
I have pulled my disc off the XBINS site temporarily until I can confirm BenQ does work. It will be back up within 45 minutes.

Just a little problem I'm coming across with the disc when it says enter 'samsung' 'benq' or whatever at the ntfs4dos screen it says bad command I'm guessing thats not meant to happen...
-
I have personally tested all 3 drives using my disc just now, and I can confirm that the disc is working properly.
The problem seems to be that some users are typing 'y' instead of 'yes' at the NTFS4DOS prompt, this will result in the 'C:' drive being unavailable to the disc. Make sure you are typing 'yes' at the NTFS4DOS prompt.
Just to be safe though, I am adding more 'error code' into my disc and an updated release will be out within the hour to prevent these mistakes from being made in the future.

Just checked and the folder BENFILES and a subfolder called BENQ was created on my C drive but they are both empty.

Yes some of us do. I learned how to do it with out one but once I found out about AID and Slayers disk it was great because everything was streamlined. Just like this disk. Anyway I wasn't insulting you on your intelligence on modding an original xbox. I was just asking how did you not know what Slayer's was. Especially now when I see you have been a member since 04.
Anyway good job Frosty Please let us know when this is back up for download. I want to try the new version.

Ahhhh.
The good old days when all we had to do was get files onto a memory card and run an exploit.
Ive been trying so hard to keep up on all the firmware stuff that my brain hurts. My 360 is out of warrenty in march so I guess I;lls start trying to screw with it then.
But its a BEn-Q and I hear so many problems with it.
Thanks for this though.
This disc extracted helps me to see what all goes into the flashing process so I cna understand it to use it correctly.

Until Frosty confirms this working without errors on the Benq, Iwould stick with iprep. Iprep is very easy to use. I would just google iprep tutorial and I'm sure you will find a good one.

My date might show that this nick joined in 2007, however that does not mean that I have not been around since long before that. Proposing that Slayer's Autoinstaller's users lack intelligence is quite ridiculous as well. Thus, now that we use such disc as Frosty's means we are retards?

QUOTE(FrostyTheSnowman @ Feb 1 2009, 07:48 AM)

FWIW, most OEM machines come with XP Home on FAT32. I know it's retarded, but they do. I've even seen machines that come with several FAT32 partitions, because the filesystem doesn't scale to the capacity of the hard disk. Dunno about Vista, though. Vista might have finally embraced the 21st century.
If it supports, but doesn't require, NTFS, it might be better to market it as 'requires a hard disk attached'. (Though see page 5 of this thread for a DOS USB driver; though perhaps not up to everyday operation, usbdisk.sys seems adequate for dumping a key and firmware to)
-
Anyone getting "bad command" when typing in benq or samsung after NTFS4DOS is done loading?
-
Does this app read the lite-on key a few times, to make sure it has been read correctly. I heard that if your connectivity kit is damaged it can give an incorrect key.
-
QUOTE(jbluford @ Feb 1 2009, 06:49 AM)

I have a quick question.
I currently have the via vt6421 pci to sata card.
Is it possible to flash a lite on drive (or any of the others for that matter) with this disc using the maximus 360 xtractor and spear?
If not, what else would I need to be able to flash the drives with this disc?
Does anyone know the answer to this question?
-
Okay, the disc is back up and available for download.
The only changes made to it was an added warning note about properly loading NTFS4DOS at the beginning of the disc by properly typing in the full word 'yes' at the prompt. This is a requirement of the NTFS4DOS application, it unfortunately cannot be changed.
Just to ease everyone's mind, I can confirm that this disc is working properly with all three drives. (Samsung/BenQ/Lite-On all work perfectly)
Some side notes:
If you are getting a 'bad command' after loading NTFS4DOS, this most likely means that the DOS CD-ROM driver did not support your PC CD-ROM/DVD-ROM, which would cause this error. A good sign of this being the case is that after NTFS4DOS loads you should be sitting at an 'X:\>' prompt. If this prompt is anything different, then your PC CD-ROM/DVD-ROM is most likely not supported by my disc. This most likely would happen if you are using a SATA CD/DVD-ROM drive in a non-IDE compatible mode. (AHCI) If you can change this setting in your BIOS to be IDE compatible it will work.
Also, to those wondering, yes, this disc includes everything necessary to mod all three drives, with the exception of the needed 'serial cable' for the Lite-On drives.
So, in short, PLEASE PLEASE read every line of the instructions on the disc before continuing to the next screen. I.E. 'y' is not the same as 'yes' to the NTFS4DOS application, the full word 'yes' is all it will accept.
Disc is back up and available for download, have fun!

So is it possable for me to re-do this or is my drive bricked?

I think he was indicating that he didn't need to rely on an auto-installer disk. To be perfectly honest, you really shouldn't need to use one for 360 drives. There are tutorials left right and centre and for first time flashers I would be far happy if they took the time to read up on the process involved before embarking on it. The same goes for any auto installer disc - including Slayers.
-
FrostyTheSnowman, I haven't tried the disk out, but thank you because it seems like a godsend. I do the mods for my friends (I became "that guy") and it got so impossible to keep up with all the stuff needed to mod each individual drive.
The only questions I guess I have is:
I heard dvdkey16 isn't stable at dumping the proper Lite-On key. Obviously your program will be using dvdkey16 instead of 32. Was just wondering if this is still an issue.
Second, does it matter if the C: (the NTFS hard drive) is SATA? Is it better for it to be IDE? I ask because I wouldn't have the SATA hard drive on the VIA chipset port (I use that $15 Syba card for my 360 modding) so I'd assume your program would not detect an SATA hard drive. Just want to be sure. Thanks!

Both SATA and IDE hard drives work fine, you might need to tweak the settings in your BIOS to make your SATA HDD IDE compatible though if it does not detect the first time.
Also, your SATA/IDE HDD should be connected to your motherboard preferably, not the VT6421 card. I use the Syba VT6421 card too (the $15 one you can buy on Newegg.com) and it works great for me.
P.S. I know how ya feel man, I became 'that guy' like 5 years ago with the original XBOX, and I became 'that guy' for the 360 about 2 years ago... it's a huge pain in the ass isn't it? I even used to offer RRoD repairs to people for $40 here locally here in Utah until it literally drove me insane, especially when I would have to repair the same damn 360 more than once... (damn unreliable 360s... grumble, grumble) that's why I made this disc, to make the process easier on guys like you and me and also to make it easier for first-timers too.

My disc does not use DvdKey16, it uses DosFlash16 to dump the key, which AFAIK works correctly.

Ah, very cool. I didn't know all it took was for my BIOS to see it. I thought maybe your CD loaded the drivers or something. You know how on older Windows XP CDs it won't detect a SATA drive during setup? I thought that would have been a problem with your CD.

Bollocks,
i didnt say slayers users lack intellegence, what i said was i had the intellegnce to want to LEARN how somthing works, how can you fix somthing when it goes wrong if all you no is how to burn and boot a slayers disk. In the good old days of the original xbox there was hardly a day that went by with out a new app or media player/center being updated. this making the oh so clever slayers disk that you downloaded, useless. surely making a Evox boot disk and learning how to install and keep up to date all you new programs and emulators would be better.
Also i dont actually see what relevence this disk has to slayers, its a completly differnet thing all together.
Back on subject...
I know how to flash drives manually, but i do use these disks for ease of use and speed, so good work frosty and Thanks
Matt

so the one on xbins now is the updated/fixed one?? just making sure. thanks for your effort. gonna try it whenever I get the chance

I tried doing it awhile back and can't really remember what step I got to,sorry.I got really frustrated. I got a tutorial from another site. When I saw this I thought it would tell me what to do or be a auto installer. I have the vt6421 card. When I booted up this cd, I got to the ntfs4dos and had no idea what to do. Sorry for being a total noob at this.
-
Sorry for being a noob at Xbox 360 modding, seeing as I just started looking into it, but I have a couple questions.
This disk by far seems like the easiest solution for modding, although I'm not sure what you have to do to set up for this mod hardware-wise. After reading some older methods, I have become vaguely familiar with the flashing process. Can you connect your drive straight to your comp with this disk, or do you need a CK or some other disk to boot the drive in "B" mode.
I am looking to flash either a BenQ or a Samsung, and am leaning towards the Samsung.
Thanks in advance for putting up with someone trying to learn this stuff.
-
questions:
1. Can I burn this iso into a dvd5 disk? since I don't have cd disks.
2. Should I put the cd in the dvd driver that is going to be modded, or I need another dvd driver to run the cd?
3. My xbox360 has a samsung driver. Does this driver need to be turned off then back on during modding using this cd?
-
I'm gonna be giving this a shot today using my onboard sata thingy(Asus P5b)

Thanks! I'd like to see how it goes before I venture onto this.
Somewhat on topic, I am going to build a new computer, and I might as well: if I buy it with the proper VIA chipset for the SATA ports I can mod 360s without using that stupid card?
-
Frosty Will be nice if you realease a version without the hacked firmwares, so we can download the updated version from here. Just put a .txt file in same place that the cfw. in ISO format of course.
This way anyone will have the last and correct version of yours disc.

What more easier can be??? i see easier is the way so no need to use serial, just sata..cause this will never happen so forget all the easier shit
-
This disc looks great, I think I might have to give it a shot. I've been doing things oldschool

Quick question though, it appears as if this program doesn't support the Hitachi drives right? I have a hitachi79 in one xbox that I plan to spoof onto a MS25. Does anyone know if this disc can spoof firmwares or will I still have to use different tools for that?
Thanks folks!

I am a complete newb. I tried to flash my benq with jungle flash and my pc froze up while I was erasing my drive. I have a ck3 lite with probe. I want to try with this disk since I got a new xbox yesterday, it is also a benq. I also have a via card.
I clicked on the benq batchfile and it created a folder on drive c. Next do I click firmware >benq? I really am lost here and have read everything I could find. If there is a tutorial or if someone can help me out. TIA Also with this setup do I need to disconnect my dvd drives from my pc? I read somewhere about a resister that goes in between the ck3 lite?

you don't need a ck3 to flash a benq, ck3 is just for liteon
start your computer, press f10 or f11 (depends on mainboard) while startup to get into the boot-menu and boot your dvd-drive with the modification disk, then follow the instruction of the disk
but whats with my problem??

Hyia Guys,
I must say that this disc is a nifty little tool. Excellent job and thank you for taking your time to create such a tool.
I've read the thread a couple times, but I am a little confused regarding the USB connection on the 360 Connectivity Kit V3 Pro CK3 & Probe. From what I understand.... the USB is not supported by this disc, only Serial connection, correct? I haven't received my Kit and Probe yet so I am not sure what all it has on it... BUT What about newer computers that do NOT have a Serial port on them?
I have access to another computer, but I don't know if it has a serial port either... This computer is in my MAME cabinet out in the garage, so I really don't want to use it unless I absolutely have to.

First of all I want to thank anyone and everyone who have contributed to this scene. I'm going to have so much fun once i figure this thing out.
I'm new to all of this, so please take it easy on me. I have download the ISO, burned it, opened my 360, etc. However I have a Hitachi Drive and I noticed the read me file did not mention anything about supporting the Hitachi Drive.
Is this drive supported with this 360 mod disc 1.5 or do I have to use something else? If so, what do I use?
Any help or guidance will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Quick question didn't see it answered.
How do you know which com port the key detector is hooked up to?
I have flashed many many many drives but never a lite on so I bought this:
http://www.diygadget...on/prod_45.html
and now I'm not sure which com port it will be assigned to.
I'm assuming COM 1 but I don't want to break my record of 0 bricked drives
Anyway I looked through the app and it looks very promising a lot better then typing all the manual commands.
I'm also going to try to throw it on a flash drive to see how that works.
Keep up the great work guys!

If you're using your onboard serial port, then check the BIOS. Unless it's been setup in some dodgy fashion it'll be COM1. Don't fret - the program won't go any further if it can't retrieve the key.

Hi,
Many thanx to Frosty for this. This is first time ive tried to flash my 360 and was very easy to do. My 1 backup ive made works perfect, but i do however have a question.
Are the files that are dumped to C erased after a succesful flash? as i cant find them any where on my machine.
Again many thanx,

Wait so what does it exactly take to mod my drive? Can I just simply take it out, have this disc and a VIA and flash it that easy? Or do I have to do something else before? BenQ here.

Yeah you have to use the serial port. You sure you don't have one on your new PC? They're still pretty common. It kind of looks like the VGA port but reversed.
I am pretty sure with the CK3 you'll need a serial cable EXTENSION cord, because the CK3 has a female serial port and the PC always has a male serial port. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
-
OK Frosty is officially the MAN!
I still use iprep just because it is what I am used to it, but I had a couple extra drives around and thought I would play with this new software.
It would be nice to see some screenshots and/or videos up here though. That usually clears up some questions.
Mabye later this week I will see what I can do.

Serial ports *are* still common, but you won't always find them on the rear header (where the other outputs are). You'll normally find a header somewhere on the board which you'll need to use a serial port extension blanking plate to use it.
You could get away with plugging it directly into the rear of the PC, but you'd need to remove the two threaded sockets each side of the port (either on the CK3 or the serial port) and providing you have enough room to do so. Personally it's not worth risking damage to anything and using a serial extension lead as advised.

To a ground spot, like the metal case of your computer (not your xbox!).

is ther any chance of somebody posting a step by step video 4 noobs using this disk ive got the Ts-ms25 and i think it would help alot of peaple.ive noticed thers no videos on you tube bout this disk but many on general flashing.this help would be greatly appreciated by many.

There are plenty of videos on the MS25, though if you are using this disk you should really be able to just follow the text, read it closely and you'll be fine.
I'll play with the disc when I get home on an extra samsung I have to see if there is anything different, but I doubt it.

What type of drive are you flashing? Did the reading of the data go ok? If the data read fine, you should be ok, try booting into windows, and opening the .bin file with xbox toolbox, make sure you have a good DVD key.

It said the data read okay, and it showed me my key, and I ran it twice to make sure, was the same key.
Ive got the Lite-On drive.
Just booting into windows now...

Wait so what does it exactly take to mod my drive? Can I just simply take it out, have this disc and a VIA and flash it that easy? Or do I have to do something else before? BenQ here.
If you really have a Benq (not a Benq-Liteon), then yes, this disc and the correct via sata card will do the trick. You could also flash it in Windows with dosflash32, though then you'd have to make your own firmware with firmware toolbox, download the modded firmware from xbins, and inject your key into it. There are plenty of guides on how to do this as well.

whats the problem??
Did you try rebooting your PC and trying again? Dos is prone to freezing. Are you using a USB keyboard? Mine gave dos fits, had to switch to an old PS2 keyboard. Something to try at least.

Depends on what type of drive you have. If you have a samsung or a benq, then yes, all you need is the correct sata card, this disc, and you can use the xbox to power the drive up. If you have a Lite-on drive, you need the c3k probe, if you have a Hitachi drive, you'll need to use windows based tools (mode-b and all that good stuff).
Try reading the regular guides, even though they don't directly apply to this, they provide great information on how to hook your xbox drive up, bios settings, etc.

Again, what type of drive? Using the correct sata card? It sounds like dos crashed though, try rebooting and trying again.

Thanks frosty for the disk. Can some make a video using this disk? I have a samsung ms28. I've been trying to mod my xbox and have had no luck. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I do have the vt6421 sata card in my computer. Thanks
What problem are you running into? Can you read the original firmware off of the drive? Make sure to disconnect anything else not needed. If you were using the other tools, ie: booting off of a usb drive, I'd say disconnect everything but the drive itself. The 10 sec trick has always worked for me, though sometimes it takes a few times. I can pm you the steps I use if you want.

Hi, you disconnect and reconnect the power connector that goes into the dvd drive and not your main power supply.
Hope this helps..

Many thanx to Frosty for this. This is first time ive tried to flash my 360 and was very easy to do. My 1 backup ive made works perfect, but i do however have a question.
Are the files that are dumped to C erased after a succesful flash? as i cant find them any where on my machine.
Any answer to above question as still havent located the firmware that was read from my drive.

When i done mine (benq drive), i disconnected the power connector for about five seconds and reconnected. Then my pc read all 4 banks straight away.

The only time you need to disconnect the power cable is to cause the dvd tray to be half open, if I remember correctly. Though I've read you can eject the drive all the way, turn the xbox off, and push it in half, turn the xbox back on. Other than that you can just turn the xbox off to disconnect power from the drive. Hope this helps.

Huh, ok... is there different methods for different drives using this disc. As i didnt open the dvd tray at all during my flash. I left the power on to the xbox all the way through the process and disconnected/reconnected power to the drive only. I done that at each step and all went smoothly.
Although, its just occured to me that i risked electricution doing it that way!!!! lol

Wait, I didn't read the whole thread, but I just connect the drive to my PC, pop this in, and then I can mod it that easily? That's insane if I can, and I know quite a few people who want this done, so maybe I can do it for them.

Which is the sole reason why you shouldn't even attempt this.
It's not just this easy - you need to understand the implications of it going wrong.
Read the main tutorials even if you're not going to follow the process.

I think I messed Up BIG TIME! =[[
I was on the first step, did everything right (I as I believe but I guess I didn't, now)put it b mode by taking out the drive power and sliding the tray half way in and then hit enter, and then it said "Geremia' dvdkey method failed" so i hit no
then it asked to overwrite "INQUIRY.BIN" and I said yes thinking it would do whatever it just failed to do, kept giving me that so I just hit no, but It kept bringing me back to step one so I finally just pressed yes when asking if it was successful(though I guess it wasn't)
then it gave me "DUMMY.BIN" does not exist so I hit enter cuz thats all it would let me do, and I finished it erasing my drive and flashing it.. I don't know why any red flags didn't go up in my mind but I thought it was all good but now I get "please put disc in xbox" error when tryn to play a REAL copy of anything... is there a way to recover my drive or flash it to make it work or is my drive just gone now? =[[
so I have no FW backup (im assuming since it never read) and the FW is erased with the CustomFW could I dl the original FW somewhere and restart I guess is all i could do??
please help thank you!!

Yep, sounds like you've screwed it up. Because the original key data wasn't retrieved off the drive, you've no way of getting it back. It doesn't matter what you flash to the drive now as it won't work. This is why it's so important to ensure you have the data off the drive prior to erasing it.
You had an option when you saw there was a problem: Turn off the computer!
Even though you got errors, you still felt the need to carry on and erase the drive instead of just turning off the PC. You've turned your 360 into a XBLA console/DVD media player.
I'm sure the cost of the of the CK3 you purchased would have been more than getting someone to do it for you - let alone the cost of a new 360.
-
Naw I used a 12 dollar VIA VT6421 PCI SATA card thats all I bought, so there Is NO Way possible to spoof or use a different set of keys or anything... =/ anyways I think im just gonna buy a new drive, do you know where I could get one?
I found this

BUT It Says
"brand new lite-on xbox 360 dvd drives taken out of new machines . all were once tested and once opened to get the key extracted .
you need to flash this drive to make it work on your xbox 360"
so does that mean his keys are missing too, and wont work like mine?

So let me get this straight: You've tried to flash a Lite-On drive with just a SATA card? Did you at least build a probe to retrieve the key from it? Did you read ANY of the tutorials on this prior to attempting this, or just download the disc and 'go for it'?
It doesn't matter if you buy another Lite-on drive, or any drive for that matter. The fact still remains you went ahead and said YES to erasing the firmware without having a valid DVD key from it. Like I said, your 360 won't play games from DVD (unless someone hacks the encryption - don't hold your breath).
This is my biggest problem with all in one discs (no offence Frosty) - anyone can download and burn an image (as displayed here). Anyone wishing to attempt DVD firmware flashing for the first time is encouraged to read the tutorials, even if you're not going to use them.

There have already been plenty of tutorials posted for Lite-On drives.
Team-Xecuter have some for their CK3s (look down the right-hand side): http://team-xecuter.com/ck3/
Also check the pinned tutorials in the newbie forums.
As I've said, there's nothing which can fix your 360. You've erased the firmware before retrieving the key. This is why it's so important to ensure the steps are carried out correctly. If you want to play Xbox 360 Retail/backups, you WILL NEED another console. Like I said, a very expensive mistake.

It's not the port which has this chip, it's the TTL adaptor which you can buy.
Read the tutorials and it will be a lot clearer.

Finally got it to complete all 3 steps the other day.
I had to put the xtreme.bin file in root dir. not in a folder, in another folder

Ah which the CK3 is I assume?
not exactly - there is one built onto the CK3 Pro (along with a serial / USB port) but if you don't have one you can buy a MAX 232 TTL adaptor for a few quid and just wire it to a probe that way (plus voltage of course for the chip itself). Failing that, you can build one for pennies without the MAX 232 IC present - instructions are included with this modification disc.

Its all about timing , try from 3 seconds then 4 seconds etc. etc. Once you get the timing right it will work
Also try the sata card in different pci ports and also try connecting the drive into a different connection on the sata card , usually there is either 2 or 3 sata connections on the card

Hey Frost, just wanted to say, amazing program as I got to use it this weekend. I should do one of those textbook tutorials for all drives (except Hitachi obviously) when using this disk of yours, to help the people who are messing up or think your disk is an excuse to never read a guide.
I do have one question though. If a new firmware comes out, will you release updates for this disk? Or is there a way we should do it ourselves?
Thanks again for all your hard work!

Hey there, nice job on the easy to use mod tool. I'm having some problems and I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction.
I modded my Xbox 360 with the Hitachi drive a few months ago and it worked fine. Now I'm trying to mod my friends benq drive 360.
I've tried iprep, dosflash32 and this disc and I can't seem to get it working. I'm using the nvidia 4 chipset for the sata connection.
Using this disk I get to the point where you read the original BenQ file. I made it work once, but I had accidently hit tab while making the folder name of where to save the benq files and then it was over 8 characters long so it didn't end up taking it. But every other time I boot up I get this:
MTK Vendor Intro failed on port 0x09E0 If you choose to resend turn drive on off, you know the rest.
But it never finds the drive save for that one fluke.
DosFlash32 has the same problem and iprep tries to make the boot drive, but gives an error saying the disk drive isn't ready, if I continue anyways it seems to work fine, but when I boot from the USB stick, it just freezes.
Something makes me think that the SATA controller and the BenQ drive just aren't getting along, but I've heard people say they've modded their BenQ with the nvidia4 controller.
Any idea's would be great, I'll also give more info if you need it. Thanks a lot for any time spent looking into this problem.

Ok,I got my BENQ done last night after a good 15 tries..do this EXACTLY & it'll go NP
Follow all the prompts...Put in your SATA Port, hit enter...DISREGARD THE LITEON STUFF & COM PORT CRAP,you do NOT NEED IT. Just hit enter til dosflash pops up. When dosflash pops up, & prompts you to you type in "yes"
Follow the instructions....When it brings you the actual reading/dumping/flashing part do this.....Make sure you have the video cable plugged in,not an HDMI,but the component/composite cables that came with the xbox, plug in your power cable, make sure you dont have a disc in the drive(should be first thing you do).....power on the 360. Now it should say to hit enter, then Y,then Enter again,DC power, then reconnect it,etc,etc....
This is the part that had me stuck for about an hour,it would just hang on Reading Bank 0....so I took someone elses advice from this thread who also had a benq....dont just DC the power then immediately plug it back in....DC the power(shut off xbox),wait about 5-10 seconds,THEN power back on.....it should now take off & start doing its reading/dumping/flashing thing
-
i just used this for my lite-on drive. the dump goes successfully, but it hangs at "your drive is now ready to be flashed." am i done? is the drive flashed? the files are on my c:/ drive, so thats good. and i tried it again, so i know i can still do it again if need be. what should i do now? thanks!

For Lite-On, if I have the VIA card, I need to buy this probe, AND the xecuter connectivity kit? (which i am having a heck of a time finding). I wish my falcons (BenQ) hadn't crapped out this month.

Hey, sorry for my lack of posts in this thread, i've been out of town for a bit on vacation.

Really, the most advice I can offer to newbies on using my disc is: RTFM. (read the F'n manual)
As long as you read the prompts exactly and DO NOT SKIP STEPS, you should be fine.
NOTE: I have noticed one flaw that might have a few of you stuck with my disc... my disc seems to have a 50/50 success rate with NATIVE SATA HDDs. Meaning, if your SATA HDD is set to 'AHCI' or 'NATIVE' in your BIOS, you will most likely run into issues with NTFS4DOS not detecting your HDD. (which can result in all sorts of nasty issues with BenQ/Samsung drives specifically, Lite-On drives are unaffected for the most part since they use a RAMDISK for modding on this disc)
The easiest fix for this is to either set your SATA HDD in your BIOS to 'IDE Compatibility' mode, OR USE A REAL IDE HDD. (old style long-connector HDDs, if you are unaware of what an IDE HDD is, you should think twice about modding)
Hope this helps, be sure to RTFM, and you should be fine.
FrostyTheSnowman
P.S. I'm glad to hear that many of you have been successful with my disc! Cheers.
-
keep it first for future use.

Hi, I'm a noob here. I've read through the post and I may have missed it somewhere, but can you do firmware Spoofing with this? Or do I have to use Jungleflasher to spoof before using this?
Thanks in advance..
-
Also, Don't you need L-O-ERAS.EXE? I looked through the .ISO file, but I didn't see this. How do you erase the firmware?

The newest version of DosFlash (which is used on this disc) supports erasing Lite-On drives.
L-O-ERAS.EXE is not necessary if you are using the newest version of DosFlash.
-
What about firmware spoofing. Will this disc spoof the firmware files as well?
thanks..
-
The spoofing function of the disc only applies to previously modded & spoofed drives being upgraded by this disc.
This disc does not support un-modded drive swapping/spoofing. (modding and spoofing a drive for a different machine)

hello guys i have a ms28 followed instructions till reading dumping firmware and it just hangs on reading 00% sometimes 01% struggling for a day now when i pull the power from my drive my 360 just flashes green alot??what is up?? email [email protected]

QUOTE(FEAR420 @ Feb 20 2009, 03:16 PM)

To everyone having BenQ/Samsung drive reading/writing issues stopping at 01%, follow the above advice.
NOTE: THIS ONLY APPLIES TO THOSE USING AN ACTUAL 360 FOR POWERING THE DRIVE, IF YOU ARE USING AN EXTERNAL POWER SOURCE OR A CK3, JUST FOLLOW THE PROMPTS ON THE DISC.
To simplify it though, do this:
1. Connect power supply and a STANDARD/COMPONENT video cable (not HDMI) to your 360
2. DO NOT POWER ON YOUR 360 YET, but do connect your SATA cable to your drive
3. Boot my disc on your PC
4. Follow all prompts exactly, ALSO MAKING SURE YOU TYPE 'yes' AT THE NTFS4DOS PROMPT (as said before though, you can ignore the comport stuff if you are using BenQ/Samsung)
5. Once you get to the reading portion of the disc, turn on your 360 and follow the instructions
6. Now, instead of simply pulling the power connector on the drive, just turn off your 360, count to 5 (or 10 in some cases) and turn your 360 back on, your drive should start dumping/flashing
Thanks to FEAR420 for this information.
-
anybody done this with a samsung ms28 i either get it to read 01% or it doesnt come up with reading
tryed fear420 still no luck using xbox power supply removing drive power nothing turning 360 on and off still nothing will not pass 01% should i get a connectivty kit or try my other 360 to power this drive other one also samsung but on ixtreme 1.4

Hey Frosty,
I just want to thank you for making Disc. I got my DYI 360 Connectivity Kit today and it took me less then 10mins to mod my LiteOn. This was my 1st time moding an XBOX 360 ever. I read through all the forums with the different types of ways to extract/flash, but they were all too confusing and each one had their own issues, so I ended up using your disc and I am quite happy. Anyway, much appreciated it.
Oh, one quick question, I'm still a noob so please bare with me. The IEXTREME.BIN file that was generated is MY patched firmware specifically for my drive correct?
-
"Thank you for the tool.
It seemed to dump the key correctly but my attempt to use the disc appears to hang on the caster firmtool screen. There is a "Success" in green text and it says your firmware is ready to be flashed. The cursor continues to blink. Is this normal or do I need to input something?
Thank you."
I am also having this problem. Get blinking cursor below message saying my firmware is ready to be flashed!
Is there a step I'm missing? It dumped the key fine, I just can't get past the caster firmtool screen.

I have a Samsung MS25 that had Xtreme 53a spoofed to MS25 on it. I have misplaced my original firmware and I was having a lot of trouble with PortIO drivers and JungleFlasher and could not get a USB flash drive to boot on the pc that I was using. I ended up booting to the point where it says "connect power, disconnect power, press enter, select XTREME drive' or whatever and I just booted up the 360 with the Enable 0800 disc in, waited 30 seconds, then pressed enter and selected the number with XTREME XBOX Drive....it read fine. Then I booted into windows and verified that it was a good read with Maximus fw toolbox 3.0.
Then I booted back to the disc and went through the steps and just let it read a 2nd time to another folder. Then when it said reboot pc and press button to continue I didn't reboot the pc but just shut off the 360 and pressed to continue. I pressed Enter - Y (to spoof to mS25) - and Enter. Then when it said disconnect power and then reconnect and press enter and had the four or five steps listed again (right before flashing) I just powered on the Xbox again with the Enable0800 disc in and waited 30 seconds and then pressed enter and again selected the XTREME DVD (or whatever...it was number '3' on my system after two IDE devices). It flashed all of the banks successfully and now I am updated to iXtreme1.5 and everything is working perfectly.
I could not find any tutorials for how to use this disc in this situation with older hacked firmware that required the Enable0800 disc so hopefully this post will help someone else. it took me a few trial and error tries to get it right and a couple of scary moments when the drive was not detected. Good Luck!

Indeed it is, the ixtreme.bin file that gets generated by my disc is a backup copy of the modified firmware for your specific drive/360.
P.S. Glad to hear my disc worked well for ya!

Hmm, that's a weird one... usually all you have to do after the firmtool screen is press ENTER to continue.
Is your PC freezing completely after the firmtool application runs?

Hi Frosty,
I am trying to flash a BenQ drive now. I was able to generate the bin file. Now I have Orig.bin and ixtrem.bin files. After this, I get to the MKT Vendor screen where I have to type "yes/no". I'm a bit confused. Am I suppose to hit "yes"? I can't seem to get it into Status 0x73. What am I doing wrong?

As the instructions on the screen should say at that part, all you need to do is type 'y' then ENTER, then unplug the power to your BenQ drive and then reconnect the power to your BenQ drive.
If you are using your XBOX 360 as your power source for your drive, then refer to post number #193 on page 13 of this topic for additional information.

Hi Frosty,
That's what I did. I hit "yes". Then the STATUS starts change numbers. So I unplug the DVDR power cable and the STATUS stops at 0xD0. As soon as I plug it back, the STATUS starts to change numbers again. I do this a few times and it does the same thing over and over. I can't get it to STATUS : 0x73. I'm using the power from my PC.

Awesome tool there
This will make things easier..
BUT I AM A TOTAL NOOB..
can you people help a noob like me?
How to connect the dvd drive to the via sata card?
I mean, i connect the sata cable to the card and where to connect the power cord?
-
Here is my experience, in case it helps someone:
I managed to dump without any issues. My problem came when attempting to erase and flash.
Using JungleFlash I managed to get an erase, and I did see the 0x72 status - but jungleflash would
freeze up after that - so no flashing was done with jungleflash.
So on to DOS I went...
To be sure, I thought I'd attempt another erase using DOSFLASH. It appeared to work (success message)
but I was never able to get status 0x72 while in DOS. Instead, I would always get 0x51 status. And by
the way, L-O-Erase.exe did absolutely nothing for me.
After trying again and again - I decided to see what would happen if I attempted to flash using DOSFLASH,
even though I was getting status 0x51 ... and to my surprise - it just worked.
In fact, I didn't even power cycle the drive when doing it.
So - to the technically inclined here ... what are your thoughts on why it worked even when getting 0x51 ?

This is the point where you contact someone nearby and pay them to flash your drive for you.
Trust me - it's for the best and you'll still have a working 360 at the end of it.

hi there,
i am trying to flash my samsung ms28 using your disc however it doesn't come up when i get to the drive selection stage. i am using the via VT6421A is this the correct card? and if so any ideas what the problem could be? what state should i have the xbox and the connections to the pc in when i initially boot the pc.
any help much appreciated thanks.
-
I found my port number but now I am having this problem:
I am getting stuck at "Reading Bank 0..."? (I have a BenQ)
I read that this was a common problem with BenQs, but I have tried a couple different drivers to no avail.
-
I give up. I think it's my onboard SATA controller though. I am able to dump the firmware, but I can't erase/flash. I flashed a LiteOn using this disc and it was quite easy, but I think LiteOns can work with any SATA controllers. Seems like BenQ may require a VIA chipset.
-
I have released a new version of my disc called '360 Modification Disc v1.5 Revision 2', you can find it in the usual places.

Changes:
- Improved dumping/flashing speeds for BenQ/Samsung drives
- Added 'user firmware dump verification' prompt to prevent possible BenQ bricking
- Revised menus and more detailed drive flashing/dumping instructions
This version should also correct any 'Cant find inquiry data!' errors with Lite-On drives and improves the flashing process for BenQ/Samsung drives.
Oh, and also since my disc has had such a positive response from the modding community, I will definitely be releasing new versions in the future as new firmware becomes available.
Go and grab a copy of the new disc, and let me know how it works out for you.
-
i get the error "invalid drive specification" right before Flash 4 dos pops up, then the same results when i enter "Yes". goes into dos A: and if i try running the program it says it is already running. i'm running 2 SATA raid 0 solid state hard drives in vista x64. i have tried putting the hard drives in IDE mode and IDE compatible and it didn't make any difference. BTW i'm using a VIA VT6421 SATA card to hookup the xbox.
i don't have a ide hard drive to tryout, i was wondering if there is anything else i can try on these SATA hard drives. i have a spare SATA drive which i also try but i get the same results. any input had help

Sounds like NTFS4DOS is not detecting your HDD at all, which means you wont be able to use your SATA RAID HDDs with my disc.
What prompt do you get after NTFS4DOS? It should be X:\> not A:\>, if you are getting an A:\> prompt that also means that my disc is not detecting your PC's DVD-ROM/CD-ROM drive either...
Here's a little secret: My new disc (Revision 2) can still mod all three drives even if you do not have an HDD available, so you can still use my disc, it just won't backup your firmware when it is done.
However, if my disc cannot detect your PC DVD-ROM either, then the disc won't work at all.
Try putting your PC SATA DVD-ROM into 'IDE Compatibility Mode' in your BIOS (or just use a normal IDE DVD-ROM/CD-ROM for my disc temporarily) and you should be able use my disc without your HDD.
So, just to catch up:
No HDD/Non-Detecting HDD = You can still use my new disc (Revision 2) to modify all three drives just fine, it just wont back up your firmware to your HDD when it is done.
Non-Detecting PC SATA DVD-ROM = My disc will not work if your PC SATA DVD-ROM drive is not detected. (if you get an A:\> prompt after NTFS4DOS your PC DVD-ROM drive did not detect properly) Either switch your PC SATA DVD-ROM to 'IDE Compatibility Mode' in your BIOS, or use a PC IDE DVD-ROM drive temporarily for my disc.
Also note that the PC SATA HDD/DVD-ROM limitations are not a fault of this disc, but a limitation of MS-DOS itself. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

has this new disc got ixtreme v1.51 or can we expect a new one soon (please)
-
The new version of my disc (Revision 2) does not have the new firmware unfortunately. (it still uses iXtreme v1.5)
However, I am updating my disc with the new firmware versions now, so you can expect a new release of my disc within the next day or so. (need to test it to ensure the new firmware works properly with my disc)
Check this forum again in about a day or so, and the new version (360 Modification Disc v1.51) will be available.

any future support for hitachi drives?
-
The new version of my disc, '360 Modification Disc v1.51' is released, and you can find it in the usual places. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)
Changes in v1.51:
- Updated all firmware to iXtreme v1.51
- 100% Support for all PC SATA & IDE DVD-ROM drives
NOTE: This disc also supports updating ALL previously flashed drives to the new iXtreme firmware. (iXtreme v1.51) So if you already used one of my previous releases to flash your drive, you can use this new release to update to the newest firmware. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Also note that all detection issues with certain PC SATA & IDE DVD-ROM drives have been corrected in this release. So, if anyone was receiving any 'invalid drive specification' or 'bad command' errors with either of my previous releases, this version will correct that. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)
Also note that now after the NTFS4DOS prompt has loaded you will get an A:\> prompt instead of an X:\> prompt, this is totally normal for this release. Simply go ahead and type 'samsung' or 'benq' or 'liteon' to start flashing your XBOX 360 DVD-ROM drive.
QUOTE(altern8545 @ Mar 7 2009, 12:56 AM)

any future support for hitachi drives?
Not at the moment, as currently there are no DOS-based methods available for flashing Hitachi-LG drives.

Yes, it will work with any previously flashed drive, regardless of what application was used to flash the drive originally.

well dont really know what to say, disk sounds like a real good tool, but i cant get it to work, have tried 2 different consoles both with samsung drives and the drives are not recognised in dos, yet if i do them the old way with dosflash they are seen with no problems.

frosty, when i try to mod a samsung drive, why doesnt the "xtreme pri master" pop up, i have no problems flashing benq drives but when it comes to samsung the xtreme pri master wont come up

This has got me stumped now...
I've tried to update my benq about 10 or more times using mod 1.5.1 and always the same result.
It reads the 4 banks reports a datachecksum then hangs.
When I check the benfiles folder the orig.bin is only ever 60k.
I use the 360's ps and switch off and on at the front. I've varied it from 1sec to 20secs..doesn't make any difference.
So close yet so far LOL.
I've still got my ocf.bin and cfw.bin from the previous update and they're 256k.
Regards.

Well, right now the Samsung part of my disc can only auto-detect your drive, whereas the Lite-On and BenQ side actually force the detection using the port you entered at the beginning of the disc.
I want to change it so all three are forced, but this is an issue because you cannot pass a port number to MTKFLASH on the command line, you can only do it by hex-editting...
So if it does not detect your drive it might not like your VT6421 card until I make it force the port number...
*EDIT*
Hmm... I guess I have been away from the Samsung TS-H943 scene for a while, as it seems that DosFlash can also support Samsung drives...
I will update my disc to use DosFlash now instead of MTKFlash.
Expect another update... LOL... now it will be v1.53...

lol oh okay...cant wait!

Head scratching with this problem for me.
Error writing to drive D: DOS area : write protection violation attempted.
(A)bort (I)gnore ®etry (F)ail.
Trying to flash a benq drive from 1.4 firmware.
I get this message after typing in benq. I followed post #178 to the letter but after i press ENTER it doesnt seem to do anything for a short while then the above error comes up. Pressing any of the letters in brackets will just repeat the error message.
Any ideas as ive not seen anything simlar here.

I'm assuming you are flashing a Samsung drive...
The 'detection routine' in MTKFlash (used for flashing Samsungs on my disc) is not the best, i'd say about 25% of users are not able to see their drive at that particular menu.
If you can't get it to work with v1.52 don't worry, I will be releasing '360 Modification Disc v1.53' later this week and it will resolve the Samsung detection issues.

PS: Not sure what part of utah your from but if you live in the SLC area you can get a 50 pack of MIS (AKA Singapor Verbatim DL DVD+R) for only 59$$$ at the sams club on 6500 So. State Street. Just thought i'ld let you know about a great deal.

360 Modification Disc v1.53 is released, check the 'usual places'.

Changes in v1.53:
- Replaced MTKFlash for DOSFlash
- Improved Samsung Detection
This version fixes all detection issues with Samsung TS-H943 drives, and also improves compatibility with more SATA chipsets.
NOTE: I have also successfully used this disc with NForce3 chipsets, so even though I still recommend the VT6421 SATA card, you can also use the NForce3 too. (maybe others as well)
Enjoy!

I have a quick couple of questions.
I have one of the original "connectivity kits" (v1.2). It has two buttons.
What are they for? It should work with this disk correct?
If I have a choice, what is the easiest drive to mod?
Thank you for your time,

@2green
Your connectivity kit should work just fine with this disc, and as far as the two buttons go one should be for the power & the other should be eject. If you have a choice of witch drive to mod I would go with either a benq or samsung, because if you choose to mod a liteon you will need to use a probe to extract the key. I would also recommend using the newest version of this disc witch is v1.53.....

Thanks dkellen1.
I should have a choice. I will go with a sammy and 1.53
Thanks again.
