Title: Hddhacker 0.91 (compatibility)
Post by: Mo.Shef on August 02, 2008, 09:51:00 AM
Rightio I have upgraded loads of 20GB to 120GB using HDDHackr.
What i can say is the follwoing are compatible with 0.91...

- Hard Drives (BEVS)
LAT
RST
UST0 (00/22/26)

- SATA Chipset
nVIDIA nForce
nVIDIA nForce 2
nVIDIA nForce 3
nVIDIA nForce 4
NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI

Others users please feel free to add your SATA Chipset or Hard Drive Model to the list...
Ope it helps some users out there...
if not just send me your hard drive (20GB) and il put in a 120GB for you (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) lol...

No. Does not work. Non raid does not work either.

edit.....
Sorry did not read post title. I know it does not work for the kreon drives.
Was just getting ready to get a list of compatible chipsets with the kreon sata drives.

Not sure about with the hddhackr program, used my wife's msi board...

Thanks, you saved me alot of time wondering why it doesnt work.

PS. do intel / sil chipsets work? or is it just nForce for now? (i guess thats what this thread is trying to find out...)

I think its real ancient since I am still on Pentium 4 northwood  tongue.gif

Intel 875p/ICH5R on ABIT IC 7

WD BEVS-UST

Only bothered to find out about the SATA controller specs AFTER I flashed my 360 DVD drive and HDD, before that I just knew of this rumor that the older the SATA controller was, the more compatible it would be, lucky me  tongue.gif

Just flashed it, I have the same model. Yes, it works. But not with my SATA-controller, which is a SiI3512SATARaid controller. I tried it at a friends PC, which has another brand of controller, which works fine! Don't know which brand/type.

I know this wasn't the initial intention of the thread but seeing as it has turned into support I thought this post belongs here.

I have a BEVS-00VAT0, My Sata VT6421 has written the firmware to the drive that I dumped from my original Samsung 360 HD. When I reboot and test it now shows up as a Samsung but says sector 16 has not been written, should it modify it now. I press y and it flashes again. But each time I reboot it gives me the same message. It is also not working in my 360.

I have tried using my onboard SATA ports but they fail to even see the drive and I have tried with 2 laptops which both also fail to even see the drive.

Any ideas?

Thanks

open hddhackr in hex editor and scroll all the way to the bottom.

youll see the numbers 4D 50 52 54 as being the last numbers

replace those numbers with CF A0 CF 80 and then save the program and restart your computer and re run it.

it should then detect your SATA and work

Hi,I just made a 120g hdd using a via vt6421 raid card, and it works well. I did't even need to edit the hddhackr.com file. It was autodected. My suggestion is that if one port dosn't work, plug it into another one and try again.

Weird how the same set up works for some folks but not for others. I'm trying to to make a 120gb hd with a wd1600bevs-22usto and a via 6421a and I'm having no luck loading the hddss.bin on the drive. I can create the undo.bin just fine. The error message is the EC sector count was not found in the FW.

I even tried a compaq notebook computer DV6000 that some one reported as working with hddhacker and I could not make it work. It creates the undo file but the I still get the EC sector count was not found in the FW.

WTH!

I've tried a HP tx2000 laptop and a Sony Vaio laptop with a BEVS-VAT, no luck.

Both computers I get the "No drive found" (or similar) error, and neither laptop has many options to play with in the BIOS Setup, such as Legacy mode.

I've tried every SATA port on these machines, and hex edited the values found in these threads... ending in 60, 60, C0, and another value I can't recall.

The Vaio is a PCG-8Z2L, with an Intel 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller (According to Device Manager).

Please, any suggestions are welcomed.

Plz forgive my ignorance as I'm very new to this
my drive is a wd1200bevs 22rst0

Where can I get a compatible hddss.bin file for this drive?
Also, as I'm upgrading from my original 20 gig drive to this one, is there any way I can use the unique id/serial from the original for my new one so my console doesn't get kicked?

I have tried searching through this and other forums but with no results, so sorry if this has been asked before.

Thanks

Now got my drive modded and working perfectly.

I flashed a wd1200bevs 26ust0 drive this weekend using a VIA V6421A PCI SATA card. Didn't have any issues flashing the drive, plugged it into the internal port on the pci card facing the front of the case with my ide drive unplugged and hddhackr 0.91 picked it up straight away and flashed it first time without any issues.
