ok, i got Xplorer 360 beta 6, and extreme 2.
but no matter wich 1 i use, i cant seem to get the drive to work with my 360

heres what ive done so far, that hasnt seemed to work.

First,
I used a friends Elite drive, (Exact same modle hd as i bought) (Fujitsu 2.5in 120GB SATA Model: MHY2120BH)
made a backup img of the drive with xplorer 360 beta 6

Second,
Cloned the working drive to my new drive
(didnt work in the 360)

Third,
Restored the img onto the new drive with Both versions of Xplorer 360
(still not working in the 360)

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how i could get this to work
ive tried removing files form the hd in attempt to get it to boot on the 360, but that just lead to restoring the image again.

just used the transfer kit, and it transferred all the data off a 20gb drive and formatted it...
but its still not seeing the 120gb drive

is there some setting i gotta enable thru xplorer 360? i know the origional xbox drives were locked, r the 360 drives? ans how do i go about enabling this if so?

This wont work. You need a Western Digital Scorpio BEVS Drive (120GB or bigger, but only 120GB will be used). This Drive could be converted to work with the 360. You need hddhackr 0.91 from TheSpecialist.

i wont waiste my money on another WD drive
if the makers of that would release the source we could outfit it for other drives
i have the drives security sector opened, the 360 can write to it, but it cant see it to use it

the transfer kit successfully sent all the data to it, but it just doesnt recognise it for use
whats the system used for the keys, im sure i can get this to work if i have all the right info

btw. My WD BEVS Scorpio that I bought yesterday works now with my 360 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Why dont you sell the Fujitsu??? And then buy a WD BEVS Scorpio.

The reason he wants to use the Fujitsu is because it is the one that freaking comes with the 120 GB HDD, it should freaking work. I am in the exact same boat, I bought mine and had it transfer all my data, so I lost all the data on my old 20 GB and now it's on the 120 GB (I hope) but the stupid thing won't work with the 360. Morkavah, if you have any luck, please tell me, because I could really use it. :/

the data should remain there as long as u dont remove it, its just the 360 isnt recognizing the key in the security sector on the drive, so it wont pik it up for use, but the transfer kit recognised the drive setup so it transferred.

im just trying to advance the support for working with a more common drive in the 360, and the fact that i will never spend another cent on a WD product..

but, yes, i will share any info i get on the subject

Well, I backed all the data up with Xplorer 360. Is it supposed to be as big as the drive? I didn't have nearly 20 GB on the old drive, and that was all that was transferred onto the 120 GB Fujitsu, but the backup I made of it was nearly 120 GB. I was just wondering because I wanted to try and restore it to my original 20 GB, because this whole process has left me disgruntled and wary of data transfers, to say the least, and I might just live with low storage capacity if it's going to be this much trouble...

So I got impatient and bought a WD BEVS etc. 120 GB HDD from Newegg. It all worked well, the drive was detected by the 360 when I flashed its firmware. However, when I restored my data from my old backup...I got the no storage devices found error.

I'm really on my last rope here I NEED HELP! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

run hddhackr again, hddhackr -f, and then put into 360 to format. when you restore, try to restore the files from the image, not the image itself.

Make a backup image of your 20 gb orig drive if you need a backup image.
That works for me and a few others.

1st step, flash hdd with 120gb hddss.bin, you can verify that it works in your 360 at this point. (It should)

2nd restore 20gb image to newly flashed hard drive with xplorer360 (to get emulator partition on drive)

3rd flash hd again with 120gb hddss.bin, (you don't need to make an undo this time)

4th put hd in xbox360. Should recognize it now, but only show 13 or so gb free.

5th format hd in xbox360. will show all available space, (should be ~107 I think)

6th use xplorer360 to restore whatever particular files to 360 you want. (not the image...)

These steps work for me, there may be easier methods, but haven't seen them yet.

It helps to leave your hd sitting in the shell until you know everything works.

The problem was that it showed almost no files on Xplorer360, and the ones it did were all just a few kilobytes. My dad decided to use Linux to zero the first 50000 sectors of the drive (because he's more technical than I am) and to my surprise, it worked and the data was basically all there, but some key things were missing that gave me some troubles. So I guess I...have almost entirely solved my problem (and I bet this solution would work for Morkavah too), but knowing which sectors to wipe is sort of...guess work for me.

was that on ur WD drive or ur Fujitsu drive?
i just need the cypher that is used to generate the key for the drive, my guess is it takes the drive sn and firmware and uses that to generate a key for teh security sector.

my 360 can write to it just fine, (used the 360 hd transfer kit to test this)
it just cant pick it up for use, meaning its not recognising the key as a valid entry against the new drives sn and firmware

is there a way i can set the version of firmware the drive uses? and maybe set its Serial Number?

It was on the WD, but the WD had the exact same problem I had with my Fujitsu. I just returned my Fujitsu in order to get back the $145 I spent on it. So my guess is that the transfer kit that I got put something bad on my drive which caused it to not be recognized, and wiping out some random sector fixed it. The problem is that it gave my Rock Band save troubles, and I had to delete the old save so that my Xbox would access the drive while in the game. Really bizarre, but I really needed that save, I still have it in my backup but I literally see no useful files with Xplorer 360 (extreme 2), otherwise I'd just reload it and hope for the best.

first off
ur no longer working with fujitsu
the WD stuff doesnt work with fujitsu

zero'ing out the first 50000 sectors would wipe the security sector, so im failing to see how that would fix my problem
what exactly did he do
