I have been an xbox-scene member for a long time and just recently started learning cocoa and objective-c for mac software programming. I have since retired all of my PC's and found that burning 360 images is a major pain for Mac. No single piece of software will burn a xbox360 image without modification to the image. Here is a proof of concept application (I made it and tested it in about 3 hours including a burn) that will set the layer break just like CloneCD or ImgBurn without modifying the image.
It has been tested working on Mac OS X 10.5, but should work for 10.4 and above. Mac OS 10.3 and lower DOES NOT allow for a manual layer break and will not work with this software... More info is in the read me within.
Make note that this software DOES NOT verify the image file. Please ensure it is a valid xtreme image, and is NOT patched for the macintosh (a patched image will be approx. 7.3GB on disk)
Any comments on the functionality of the software are appreciated. I didn't care about looks on this release, I just want to see if it works for others.

Hello,
I just downloaded your software. Thanks for it.
Is it easy as just drag the image over to the program and then burn. Do you have to make any other modifications?

press the select button and select the .iso or .000, NOT the .dvd file. Press Burn. Play.
That's it... no patching required. I will probably add drag and drop support later. This is just a proof of concept release. I want to see how it works for others.

Cool. I will try this later today and post feedback later on too.

I have tested this on 2 Macs - A MacBook and a Hackintosh. Only the Real Mac worked...
MacBook 2.2GHz, 1Gb Ram, Mac OS X 10.5.1, MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-857E

Burnt a game using your software.
Burnt ok but disc was unreadable on 360.

What computer, os version? I made another attempt yesterday. It said it failed the verification, but read correctly in 360.
Also make sure it is not patched by iBurn360 or any other mac utility.

I got a macbook core 2 duo with matshita uj-857d drive. Burnt using verb DVD+R DL
The images wasnt patched by anything.

Strange... we have basically the same setup. Only difference is Media (I am using Memorex which rarely fail for me, rebranded ritek), and the actual image itself.
I would first assume a bad image unless you've personally checked it in XBC or Mulleter. Have you made a working backup of this image before?
It could have also been a bad burn. Were you actively using the computer while burning (mostly a factor early on in the writing process)?
I can personally attest that this software works. I have tried it on two separate computers and with various backup images (xtreme images). I have 4 verified backups using this software and one coaster that was made during the testing phase of the program.
-
Im making another copy of an different image now. will let u kno what happens with that one.
I dont use the macbook while burning...only thing I had open was safari for browsing.
I cant check with xbc or mulleter as the files are on the mac.
Is there an app for the mac I can check the image with?

I'm going to be working on that... It will take some time, since I am just beginning to learn cocoa.

No Joy again.
Burnt another image. Burnt fine Verfied ok too. But disc comes up unreadable in my xbox. I checked the image on a windows computer with xdvdmulleter. The image seems fine.
Just to point out. My xbox image is on a external hard drive. That should not matter or should it??
I think maybe there is a problem with my mac. I have also tried Iburn360 which doesnt work for me either.
Maybe time to format my mac and reinstall a fresh copy and try again.

I have used this software burning images over a wireless network (not recommended), internal and external hard drives. That should not be an issue.
You can also use xbc to verify a disc after it is burned. do that to check to see if a burn was successful. Has your 360 had any issues reading backups made on a pc?
-
What do I need to do with XBC to verify....ive never used that before.
Also i havent had any problems burning xbox games on pc. on pc i use clonecd with verb discs. Did you curn your backups on a fresh installation of leopard.

Not really, and one of my computers isn't really a mac either - and that gave me an error on the verify portion but I have not had any issues with the disc yet.
I hope I get more people to test this out. I am pretty sure this software works - I have done 5 disks with it already...

I see that you recommend DVDR-DL does that mean that +DL will not work?
(sorry I'm a noob and gathering info for how to do this)
Also some people have been having problems with XBox Live does that mean that its not recomened to use the backup copies for Live?

No, DVDR+DL is required... DVDR-DL will not allow custom layer breaks. Sorry for the confusion.
In so far as Xbox Live, it is not recommended to use backups online. Use at your own risk. If you do so, your are in violation of Xbox Live Terms of Service and are in risk of being banned regardless of what software you use to burn the backup.

Hello,
I had reformatted my mac and put a fresh copy of leopard on it.
I ran your osx360 program and tried to burn a backup. The burn process all went fine. But again was not playable in the xbox360. While burning no other apps were running.
Looks like this wont work for me.
Thanks

Sorry to hear that... I wouldn't give up on it though. I don't believe the software is at fault, it's too simple to fail. Our computers are almost identical, so I would try to burn that same image on a pc, and see what happens. I had about 15 hits for my software since yesterday. I hope more people tell me if it works for them or not.
Good luck.

Hi m8.
Got good news.
I burnt my backup onto a Aone DVD+R and used your software and the game worked fine. Same game I copied on a verb will not boot up.
very strange.
I might reflash my xbox and up the speed to 12x and explore

Ok... here goes my first release with a simple ISO check. It will allow Xtreme style Xbox360 and Xbox1 disk images to be burned. It does not however check the SS/PFI/DMI/Video for valid data yet. I also updated the extract method to properly extract security sectors of Xtreme Xbox1 disk images.
As for the problematic burns I have been having, It is due to having a crappy internal dvd drive (MatSHITa - as Textbook called it). That has been fixed with either using a better drive (external) or using better media (Verbatim). I have made many successful burns just by doing that. DO NOT USE Ritek or Memorex media with the MatSHITa drive. It will fail to read.

Thanks. Will try this too.
Is it safe to use Verb and Aone discs with the matshita drive?
-

I have verified Verbatim works with the Matshita DVD Drive. I purchased an external LG Slimline DVD Burner (GSA-50L) and it is much more quiet and stable during burns. It also loaded faster on the xbox 360. So I would say for the BEST results, don't use the Matshita - but it will work if you use high quality media.
I have added some DMI checks on my next build. I will need to do alot more file system extracting to put more stealth checks in place, but I will work on it.
I do believe that OSx360 is now the first Mac software to verify Xbox1/Xbox360 disk images.
-
Burnt a backup on a AONE Disc with matshita drive on my macbook using osx360 0.3.
Worked on 360 fine.
Seems good this does.
Thanks for making this software. Really appriciated.

Ive got an Pioneer 111D drive. If I got a IDE to USB adapter and connected it to my macbook to burn the backups instead of using the matshita drive
Would that possibly work well?

That should work. I have also tested Vervatim media with the Matshita Drive and that worked well too. It al depends on how much work/money you want to spend. I do prefer using my Pioneer 111D also, but I just purchased a nice slimline LG Burner and I actually like it alot.

Just wait for me to release the new version. I'm very close to releasing a version with full stealth verification.
Of course there may be some bugs at first so I will allow for burning the iso even if it doesn't pass. Maybe a GUI makeover as well.

Thanks for your efforts. ITs so great. Burning xbox games is so much easier than ever.
-
I just released OSx360 v0.5
This is not an update for stealth checking, it is a compatibility update. For users of Mac OS X 10.3 and below, Apple's integrated Disc Recording software will not set a manual layer break. I have added growisofs command line executable to the application bundle to allow any user to burn using this method instead of Apple's built in software. growisofs will not verify the burn, but it will set the layer break and is very stable. I added a very simple GUI that is shared between both burning methods as well.
If my previous versions are working for you, this is NOT a must have update. If OSx360 failed to launch or burn on your computer before, this is for you. In either case, I would like to know how this works out for you.
Many thanks to iDog (creator of iBurn360) for his source code that helped me finalize my GUI for growisofs.

I'm still waiting on more info. I can't wait for an app to check stealth of a game. I havent had any problems with iburn360.
I used internal dvd burner and quality media.
I am going to keep an eye out on this app though to see how the developing can come along. I dont have the money to just test out burns at the moment.
Keep up the hard work.

For your information, some stealth checks are already done by OSx360 (since 0.3/0.4). You can check it out without burning. Some other stealth checks need to read the default.xex so Xbox File System (XFS) extraction needs to be implemented first. I have already started coding the XFS extraction, but I will need some time to finish it and find a nice stylish OS X way to display it in the GUI. I want to have this completed by this weekedn but who knows. It seems pretty straight forward.
Keep an eye out for it. If you want, I have an rss feed available on my website.

I can't tell you how to get an un-patched file other than getting your original xbox 360 game and ripping it to an iso using a utility such as Xbox Backup Creator. I really don't know how much data is patched and how to undo it. You could probably contact Wattks to ask how to undo a patch, but I don't know what he'll say.
Other than that, try my software and see if it passes verification. If it passes verification and still doesn't work, I would recommend either making sure the media is good quality (Verbatim) and that you are not using a Matshita DVD drive. I have this drive and it is known to sometimes produce coasters even with good media.
Good Luck.
Just my weekly update for all the Mac users:
OSx360 has been updated to version 0.6 Alpha.
Things are really beginning to take shape.
-The Xbox File System is now read, and will be updated in the near future to allow for file system extraction.
-The MediaID (located in default.xex) is now verified against the DMI, and SS.
-The Region Flags for Xbox 360 games are now displayed.
-The GUI has been updated to show disc image information, and future functions are displayed (but disabled).
-Lots of validation problems have been resolved.
-The OSx360 Debug Log can now be viewed in Console.App (~/Library/Logs/OSx360.log).
-Much more has been added, but will not be functional yet... Check the website every week or so for an update!

That's what it's for... basically any xbox 360 disc image. Read the website or the release log if you want more details.
I am making OSx360 as a mac alternative to some of the great pc iso utilities out there such as Xbox Backup Creator and Mulleter. I am also working with some of the creators of the software so most of the what OSx360 will do will be the same as those programs.
I do not verify splitvid iso's yet, but that should be done soon.
-
Alright cool, cause in one of your earlier posts you said Xtreme backups so i was just making sure.
Tomorrow i'll make a backup of a game and burn to try this out

QUOTE(lucas @ Feb 25 2008, 03:27 PM)

No, there is no Mac software to rip Xbox360 games yet.
I have looked into direct drive access using xcode, and it seems a little out of my range, since I am still new to coding for mac. I would like to say it should be possible, but the code must be written at a higher leven than I am used to.
If anyone is skilled in XCode and the IOKit.Framework, I would love to work with them to release an Xbox 360 ISO ripper for mac. It may also be necessary to write a driver that would allow those specific drive commands.

It's still early in development. Thanks for the interest, but I need people to test it.
Most people will say "Oh, It doesn't work for me" when the software is not the problem. I have spent countless discs before I realized the built in "SuperDrive" was a not so super Matshita drive. That was the culprit. Media also is a big deal when using a burner like the Matshita.
This software has been verified working by multiple users and in other forums. Read the website or the release note to see possible solutions to bad burns.
And for your information, saying "Nope, it doesn't work" doesn't help me or anyone else. Tell me what you did, what you used, and maybe a log file. I have a handfull of people that initially had bad burns (not software related), and I helped them resolve the issue.
Thanks,

They should be located in "~/Library/Logs/".
I don't have many people testing OS X 10.4, and I would like to get that working. You could also try the growisofs burning method (Located in the OSx360 Burn Setup Panel). This is known to work for all Mac OS X versions.
If the disc recording framework keeps on failing on 10.4, I might disable it or at least make growisofs the default.

I really always felt sorry for the people with macs and i think this is a great thing wolfienuke has put together.
I hope you people stop putting down this thing as totally not working and a piece of crap because programming is not a super easy task.
It takes lots of trial and error and go back and fix this and that to get it all right..
I hope that everyone with a mac tries this and appreciates the work wolfienuke has put into this..
good job!

Thanks for the support!
Thankfully you are not the only one that thinks like this. I just hope more people come forward with crash logs and information so I can fix these issues. It's very simple to create a program that works for me, and do what I need it to do. It's a completely different monster trying to make a program that works for everyone.
I could call it quits now, since most of the uses that I have for OSx360 are done and work on MY computer, but what's the fun in that?
I am spending a lot of time, money and effort on this. My next step after this is to buy (or aquire from a generous donation) a KREON drive or spare xbox 360 drive to allow mac users to rip their own games without the need of a PC at all!
I would love someone to part with their drive for a month or two (I will pay all shipping costs). So I can get busy on that. My current job doesn't keep me busy enough, so I have lots of time to mess around - just not a lot of spare cash.
I appreciate all the support and all I need to continue on is a pat on the back once in a while. I do this for others, everyone can chip in as well and the assistance will not go overlooked.

I need some volunteers to test 10.4 Universal Binary builds. I would like to get someone that has PPC, but anyone with 10.4 will do.
Edit:
I would just like to publicly thank lininjim over at mac-bb for all the testing he has done. Thanks to him, OSx360 now is functional for Mac OS X 10.4+ for both intel and ppc!
I will have a new build out today or tomorrow with all the bug fixes and increased log reporting for troubleshooting. I would like to ask anyone who uses the software to use this new version and send me the logs. It will help me improve the software quicker.
Also, on another note... I have started stealth checks for the video/splitvid partitions. It will not be complete enough to include in this next release since I am waiting for Redline99 (developer of Xbox Backup Creator) to send me some code to help with the checks. This will probably be ready in a week or so.

Before I start working on this, does anyone want OSx360 to support burning non-stealth xbox 1 images that are compatible with xtreme 5.x firmware?
Personally, I have no use for this but others might. There really is no need to do this since any burning program will write xbox 1 disc images with no issue. I am assuming most users have iXtreme which will not support non-stealth discs.

You attempted to use OSx360 before and said it didn't work. If you were using OS X 10.4, that problem has been fixed. PPC is also now fixed (You have a MBP, so that wasn't the issue). The only other thing I can suggest you can do is use Verbatim (or AOne) media with the MBP. The internal Matshita drive is horrible, so if you use other types of media, it might not work. I have not received reports of other media working with the Matshita drive.
Other than that, external drives usually help your odds of a successful burn. I have an HT/LG GSA-E50L Slimline and it works great with most media.

That's why it won't work with the MBP... I have a MBP and a MB both with Matshita drive and MOST of the memorex discs I used failed to load on the Xbox 360. Some would load, but I would have to eject/reboot multiple times to get it to load. It took me a while (and alot of discs) to realize the problem was the Matshita burner. I too used Memorex with no problem when burning with my Pioneer 111D. Honestly, I didn't know how bad the Memorex (Re-branded Ritek usually) media was until I started using Verbatim. My 360 used to be very load and made grinding noises (sounded like it was having trouble seeking back and forth). Now it's quiet and never makes any unusual sounds. I'm not sure if I'm using MII or MIS though.
Just a quick update: I now have a KREON Drive, and have tested it with XBC in Fusion successfully. I found a lot of good source code on how to issue SCSI commands with Cocoa/Carbon. This means Game Partition Unlocking, SS Extraction, DMI Extraction and PFI Extraction should be possible from within OS X. How easy it will be is the question. If anyone would like to be part of this project and has experience with coding in Carbon/Cocoa, please contact me. I am sure I will be able to figure it out but I am slowing learning very technical code and it is a lot to take in.

Thanks! If you don't mind the trouble, send me the Log File (~/Library/Logs/OSx360.log) since this will tell me if there were other errors that were not noticed. It does not contain any personal information (other than your System version and connected DVD devices).
I would appreciate this data from everyone if possible.
[email protected]
i would send you the log, but i haven't burned any discs with the version that logs yet - but i'll be sure to once i burn a new disc.

I need to know how many mac users have a KREON drive or any other drive capable of reading Xbox 360 Original Discs. I have made a program that will be the base for my Xbox 360 DVD Ripper. Before I release anything, I need to know some information from those drives.
I just want a quick count of people who are willing and able to help testing this. I need more help here than with the burning software, since I need checks for acceptable dvd reader models/firmware versions.
If you have one of these drives, open up terminal and paste this in there.
ioreg -l -w 999 | grep "Device Characteristics"
copy the result and post back here.
Thanks!
-
Just got done re-installing so I will try to burn a game now but here is the info you wanted...
| "Device Characteristics" = {"DVD Features"=67,"Product Name"="DVD-ROM SH-D162C","Power Off"=No,"CD Features"=1139,"Vendor Name"="TSSTcorp","Product Revision Level"="TS05","BD Features"=0,"Low Power Polling"=No}
Hope it helps I would love to use it to rip as well.
Leopard 10.5.2
LG GH20NS10 DVD R/W DL SATA
Philips DVD +DL
-
I have a Kreon drive, and will gladly test that for you as soon as i get my adapter (i ordered it already and it was shipped today so it should be here soon
)
-
Just wanted to echo my success too, works perfectly.
Leopard 10.5.2
OPTIARC DVD RW AD-7170A (mac pro)
Ritek dual layers
I was also wondering if the ripping program ure working on will also work with the samsung 360 drive in 0800 mode or just the kreon?
-
About the ripping software... I have not been able to send the CDB commands to the KREON drive via USB-ATAPI adapter in Mac OS (It works in virtualization). I believe it is a limitation of the USB-ATAPI driver. I will continue to look into this, as well as test it on my desktop as soon as it is up and running again.
In so far as a Samsung with 0800 firmware/Disk, I will try to work on that if/when the KREON ripping is done. Very good suggestion. Thank you!
-
One thing i was noticing, i uncheck verify burn and everytime it still verifies it after it finishes burning, not sure if its a bug or if its required to verify it.

verbatim works great. only thing is i have an iso file that 300+ have downloaded with no comments on the issue i have that the load screen takes forever and wont work! what cold this mean i dont think it is a bad iso or else people would have commented!

I know the issue and it has been fixed. It is a known issue with some Xbox 360 Discs that have invalid TOC entries... The new version has this taken into account. I will probably release a new build later today or tomorrow.
-
In case you still need it:
"Device Characteristics" = {"DVD Features"=67,"Product Name"="DVD-ROM SH-D162C","Power Off"=No,"CD Features"=1139,"Vendor Name"="TSSTcorp","Product Revision Level"="TS04","BD Features"=0,"Low Power Polling"=No}
I hope you can get this working on the Mac, then I can finally get rid of Windows.

No, I should have a fix out shortly... If you wish to use a version that did not have this issue, I believe v0.5 should work until then.

I will post if there is any progress... Apple had made it either made it difficult or impossible to do it. I am just trying to make sure it's possible.
-
I'm pushing out a new version, but let it be known that there have been many changes and limited testing. I have tested it out on my MacBook with an internal and external burner.
I have not completed everything, but what's good is that it now includes an updater which can check to see if there is a new version. This way, I can post bug fixes and enhancements much quicker.
OSx360 v1.0 Beta 1
-Automatic Updates via Sparkle.
-Completely new GUI with toolbar controls.
-User Defaults Configuration (Some functionality is disabled until added).
-Open Menu and Open Recent Menu now functional.
-File Types iso/bin/000 now associated with OSx360 (can be configured to open from finder).
-Drag and Drop iso/bin/000 files onto Application Icon to open.
-Fixed Disc Image reading.
-Fixed crash from invalid Xbox 360 TOC entries.

The burning process is the same and will not change regardless of what software you use. The only improvements from now on will be stealth checking, iso extraction/creation and Interface changes.
For your best results, I would recommend an external DVD Burner if you are using an internal Matshita Super Drive, Verbatim media and burn at 2.4x.
I have had no problems at all using this configuration. You might be able to burn at faster speeds, but I would not suggest more than 4x.
What game are you trying to back up?

might be a stretch, but the stealth sector checking like xdvdmulletter does against the online database would be good
also, dont mean to be pineckety but the preference and about panes should really be independent of the actual program

I might look into an online/offline crc database, but first I would need to to crc checks and do them properly as well. This means I need to be able to extract individual partitions as well (which I am working on). The About view is now it's own window (you are not the first person to bring that to my attention). It was only like that due to the initial alpha version having only one window. Replacing the initial view is a new view which you can drag and drop an iso into a Image Well. The preferences/configuration may not be changed yet. We'll see how long that takes to change.
Don't feel bad about commenting. I appreciate the feed back and will make appropriate changes if the reason is justified.
I'm surprised no one has complained that when you drag a disc image into the text field which already has a file path in it, it adds it where ever the cursor is. That has been my pet peeve since I began developing OSx360. You need to delete the current path before dragging a new path in. I have fixed that issue, and now it replaces the current text with the new file path. It will be included in the next release. Surprisingly, this was much more difficult than you would think.
Just to let you know, this is the first Mac application I have seriously been committed to releasing publicly, and I am learning more and more everyday.
Feel free to b*tch and moan all you want, but also donate a few bucks if you can spare. This project has taken much time and money from me. I WILL NOT ever charge for OSx360! I know if I tried, it would just get stolen anyway
....
-
Just tested the software for the first time, and it works!!!!!!
Thanks so much. I have a hackintosh (self built mac) and it works as advertised.
I donated $5 to you on the site... and if my money gives me any sort of clout here all I can suggest is that you add Mulleter type options to the program and it will be perfect
THANKS AGAIN

what is the difference in burning Apple DiscReading.Framework vs growisofs?
-
QUOTE(royalsolo @ Mar 15 2008, 07:27 PM)

what is the difference in burning Apple DiscReading.Framework vs growisofs?
Apple DiscRecording.Framework is a standard code library made by Apple and is the same framework that Disk Utility uses to burn discs. growisofs is a *nix command line tool to burn discs. Both will basically do the same job, but for users of Mac OS 10.3 and below, growisofs is the only tool I know of that can set the layer break manually.
It's up to you which one you use. I would recommend trying Apple's DiscRecording.Framework first, since the code I use to control the burn session is very simple (therefore less likely to go wrong). If that doesn't work, try growisofs. Since growisofs is a command line tool, I had to do more coding to make it integrate with a GUI. Other than that, I have not had any experiences to say that one is better than the other.

ive been uisng the apple framework one successfully and i just burned a game on the region code one and set it to region 1 and the game is showing the name of the game at the dashboard then says something about not compatible with the console. i cant do anything now so i guess i must throw the dvd out? or do i just need to recode it..?

I'm not sure what you mean by region code 1. For Xbox 360 Games, the region is an 4 byte number (usually shown as hexadecimal. For the most part, this is how it is: (There are some other codes or sub-regions, but I will not go into detail)
0xFF000000 = Rest of the world
0x00FF0000 = PAL (Europe)
0x0000FF00 = NTSC-J (Japan/Asia)
0x000000FF = NSTC-U (North America)
0xFFFFFFFF = Region Free
or any combination there of...
This region code cannot be changed for retail consoles. OSx360 will verify your disc image and display the region code as PAL/NTSC-J/NTSC-U/Region Free. Look in the log if you want to know the 4 byte region code.
If you put a game in your xbox 360 that is the wrong region (Original or Backup), it will display:
"The region code for this game does not match your console's region".
If you get this message you can:
A. Throw the disc away
B. Buy another Xbox 360 from that particular region.
I would guess that you would choose option B.
-
its not the console its self because the apple frame worked so i could toss the disc out. why would think i would need a new xbox?
i guess growisofs isn't the right way for me to go.. i picked the region associated with my living place (north America) aka region 1. so dunno guess i wont use that method.

I guess you didn't get the sarcasm... I still don't know what you mean by "picked the region".
All you need to do is make sure that the displayed region for the disc image matches the region of your console (not necessarily the region you live depending on how or where you purchased the console)
Neither growisofs or Apple DiscRecording.framework will change this outcome if your disc is the wrong region.

Since that last post, I now have my KREON drive in my desktop. It appears it is not a limitation based on the USB interface, but a limitation with Non-Authoring DVD Drives (ie. DVD-ROM). I am working on finishing up OSx360 and making it fairly stable. Once that is done, I will begin working on figuring out a way to rip original discs via OS X. If it was an easy task, it probably would have been done by someone else by now.
Don't worry. I hear you. I will probably release a separate alpha build (ripping only) once I figure it out - like a proof of concept.
Just keep your fingers crossed...

That's fixed as well... I made some major changes to the program so that's why it's taking a while for the new beta.

Excellent work thus far! I second the stealth check/repair. You said you'd have to do proper crc's, but perhaps the Mulleter folks will let you share the database they already have. That would be a great addition.

one feature that someone may have already suggested is being able to stealth check already burned 360 game dvds, that would be handy, great program cant wait for more features.

XDVDMulleter is open-source (until v10), so that really is not a problem. The issue is converting it to cocoa/objective-c. I don't think sharing the database will be an issue.
BTW, thanks for the review on MacUpdate... That's two 5-star reviews... for beta software no less!

I agree, and will be working on that soon enough. I do have a very simple way to read sector data directly off a burned dvd, so it would only be modifying my iso checking code to support directly reading from the dvd. It should not be that hard.
A couple things I am asking for is help with web/graphic design (Maybe a new non-copyrighted logo), and users to help translate for localizations (French,Italian, and Spanish are complete)

Just so everyone knows, I will be slowly moving away from these forums at least for the sake of OSx360...
I have created a OSx360 forum on my site that can be accessed through the main page or directly at:
http://www.nukedsoftware.com/forum/
I have created topics for:
OSx360 Releases (where you will be able to view all releases and info about them)
OSx360 Feature Requests
OSx360 Bug Reports
OSx360 Help
Off-Topic Discussions
Please be sure to drop by and register... I will probably be on there most of the time, and it will be a lot easier than keeping tabs on multiple forums - which I am doing now. That means you will be able to get replies real quick and I can keep track of all the bug reports and requests.
Thanks again everyone, and I hope to see you there!

i'm having the same problem. i just flashed my 360 last night and am about to burn my first disc. its a memorex so i figured i would leave it burning while i run to staples and get some verbatim discs.
i hope the site will be up soon.
-
In case any one cares for my results.
Last night i successfully flashed my ms28 samsung drive using a via pci card and following the 2008 textbook instructions.
today i burned Left 4 Dead using my iSight iMac and wolfienuke's OSx360 app. after reading some peoples experiences i was sure my internal burner and memorex blank dvd's would fail so i left it burning while i ran to bestbuy to get some verbatim discs and an external dvd writer.
when i got home left 4 dead burned succesfully as well as played on my 360 with no problems.
i'm going to burn a few more on the internal drive to see if i get any fails and may just return the external writer, but so far so good.
thanks to everyone for posting their tips, apps, tutorials and experiences.

Question: Will we ever be able to create our own stealths on a mac? i have a pc as well but do just about everything on my mac.

I use my 360 to play online, has worked very well. Im using ABGX360 on my Windows-PC, but i want to be able to use MAC full time without the need of switching OS for this. Is'nt there anything like ABGX360 for OSX that checks online and everything, so im sure it works?

Hi all,
I've been a happy user of Osx360 for many months now, but I've always been a bit paranoid about my settings in the configuration tab...can someone please answer my question below?
When i burn a game, do i need to check the custom layer break box in the configuration tab? I haven't been doing that at all but all my games work just fine.
and when i check the log, it seems that the image files already carry that layer break. is that possible?
Should I check off that box in configuration going forward?
Thanks in advance!!

hi
im using mac os x 10.4, optiarc dvd rw ad-5630a...im new on using mac for burning 360 games ( only because i was using windows all these years, and still do! so i thought i should try burning a game on a mac!!!) so the first program i used was iburn360 i burnt 2 games with it, the first one started but freezed after a bit making the xbox crash! the second one worked fine (which amazed me)
...im trying to burn a 3rd one now! the second program i used was burn which didnt work at all cos it stopped burning when it was verifing the disc! i might have a go for this software too but i see that many people say that it fails...
and if u r wondering why im using mac to burn a game when i have a windows laptop... its because i bought dl disks that my windows burning drive doesnt like so instead of throwing the disks to the bin i though of burning them with a mac! and it worked for one game! ha!

It burns fine, but because there's no external database, some games won't verify completely (i.e. Bourne Conspiracy is a good example), fails on the Media Link check..

Hopefully a new version is released that version is a year old. I have just had my first issue with the app. I tried burning a new release with the update bundled into the disc. It loadsthe image but the burn button it not clickable. I tried a restart of the app and mac.

Go into the configuration, then in the Burn Options but just untick 'Require Stealth Verification' then just use your own good sense.

For those of you looking for the file I seem to have found a mirror of the site. OSX360 Mirror
The site claims b3 is the latest but there is a b4 which can be found by searching the download directory:
Download Directory
To answer the previous question it does work on Leopard.
-
Any words from the developer? Seems like he hasn't been online in over six months.
It's such a wonderful application, but needs updating to work with WAVE3 games.
I've tried using iBurn, but it always tells me my backups need patching, although they are verified and patched in ABGX, so I don't want the app to tamper with my ISOs.
-
Wolfienuke seems to have vanished (which is a great shame). OK OSx360 can burn wave 3 games, simply go into the configuration and untick Require Stealth Verification and it will burn them.
You will of course have previously confirmed the integrity of your iso with ABGXGui.
