Title: Crossover Cable Network Question...
Post by: andrewdough on September 11, 2007, 08:44:00 PM
I have been trying to directly connect my 360 to my laptop using a crossover cable (direct connection). I do not want to be able to have an internet connection (for live or anything) just use the 360 as a "media extender". I've tried everything I could find on the net with no luck.... any suggestions?

I had a similar problem. The way i got it sorted was to manually assign an IP on the xbox and PC eg:

PC:
   IP: 192.168.1.1
   Subnet: 255.255.255.255
   Gateway: 192.168.1.1

Xbox:
   IP: 192.168.1.2
   Subnet: 255.255.255.255
   Gateway: 192.168.1.1

Try that and let us know how you get on. Oh important note. Make sure the IP address range is different to the ranges of any other connected network hardware.
