Title: Windows Media 11 Sharing Services Uses Most Of Cpu And Lots Of Ram
Post by: bidomo on April 06, 2007, 01:23:00 PM
Hi guys! (and maybe girls)

I'm having trouble with Wmpnetwk.exe network service, is giving me a hell of trouble, uses 97% CPU time and eats 300MB in physical and swap file memory

Does anyone one know how to fix it?

Maybe I'll have to stop sharing stuff if continues...

Stop the share and start it up again , it fixed it for me.

Done it already, but a week after the problem reappears

I wasn't able to edit my post so I will just post a solution that seems to be working: I have removed all dirs from share, then deleted the following dir:
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player\
and then readded shared directories.
That seemed to fix cpu leak. Also now content of that dir is a bit different from before.
If u can plz post comments.

Thanks for this, it works great.  I as well deleted all the music in the library, but not the actual files. Now WMP 11 doesn't have anything except pictures in the library and doesn't use up all the CPU. For those of you who exclusively use WMP 11 to share with the 360 I would recommend using TVersity. This completely solved this problem.
