Title: Xbox Backup Creator Working On Vista?
Post by: Anikachiktou on February 18, 2007, 08:33:00 AM
hi!
There's a working version on Vista? I have version 2.3 and I can't run it.
Error 339. component mscomctl.ocx or one of its appendencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid.
Any Idea?
Thanks

i just installed it on my system
I have burned games with it and did stealth check, but havent had time to test ripping a game. But I imagine if I tried to rip a game with it I could.

I've tried many times, with no result!
It's my personnal computer, I'm running it as an admin. I have full control (same admin setting and group policies)
I've tried some kind of freeware to register my OCX file, with again no result. I saw on the internet, many problem with VB6 C++ running on vista.
Regsvr32 mscomctl.ocx that's the only thing I did'nt try. Later today, i'm at work right now.

Its the same for me, that error comes up for my even though the file is in the right folder and registered and i am admin ( i tired run as admin aswell), makes no difference. Another program i wanted to use today gives me the same problem. Im using vista home premium.

Not sure if he resolved it with vista since then, the last He posted in Backup he had made a XP partition on his drive. Not a bad idea IMHO for a while to have that.

Exact! I'm back on XP. Too much conflict in vista for now.
I'm running the 2 OS on different partition.
Anyway, if you find a way to running it in vista, let me know.
Thanks.
Nice follow up sosotiit!

I finally got the problem.
In my computer, users accounts.
Reactivate the User Account Control (UAC).
Nice job from Microsoft. UNCHECK to have the REAL FULL CONTROL, but cause more trouble!

Nice job figuring out what it was! I had no idea what the problem was, and have been dual booting between Vista and XP. Good Find
Now, Is there a way to make it run without needing UAC enabled? I can't stand UAC, and would love it if I could use it in Vista with it disabled.
Anyway, Nice work Anikachiktou, at least now I know what is causing the problem. Hopefully there is a fix or workaround in the future.

the correct way to get the program to work is by dumping the MSCOMCTL.OCX into the same folder the application is in. please dont dump it into the system folder. this may cause stability issues.
