Xbox Backup Creator v2.2
Posted by XanTium | October 14 21:29 EST

Redline99 released a new version of Xbox Backup Creator(info) - a tool that will allow you to easily dump, create/patch and burn Xbox and Xbox 360 images with full support for SS, DMI and PFI.

What's new/fixed:
* Fixed - Some drive/media combinations didn't report Available bytes correctly
* Added - Option to Perform the OPC or not, Default = True
* Added - Option to Perform the Track Reservation or not, Default = True
* Added - Fix for Invalid Xbox One Security Sector (Kreon pre .81 and Hitachi F900)
* Added - Better support for Maximus-Garyopa Hitachi-LG Xtreme v2.2 Stealth 8in1 (limited)
* Added - Support for Frog Aspi v0.29.4, http://www.frogaspi.org/index.html (Included)
* Added - Support for TS-H943A Xtreme v4.0 Game Partition Unlock command
* Changed - Set Write Speed, Hopefully more compatible
* Changed - New method of monitoring the tray status
* Changed - GetMediaStatus routine, to allow for more waiting after closing a disk
* Changed - Increased the File IO read timeout, this puts more responsibility on the burners buffer-underrun tech
* Note: Please start using the Frog Aspi v0.29.4 in ASPI mode. If it works for everyone then I will probabally set that as default next time.
* Note: If you have used the setup version, it should upgrade ok using the new installer. But if you want to stay on the safe side then use the Add/Remove Programs to uninstall the previous version first.

FYI, Burning with liteon is still going good at 4x,
but setting the speed to 2,x does not reduce burning speed.

By the way certainly do not want to sound like I am complaining, quite the opposite this prog is exceptional  love.gif . Again Thanks.

Note: I posted in 2.1 which was the wrong place sorry

Hey, nice update. Been using this for last few back ups. One question though, sorry of its stupid... i know that it takes care of the SS automatically, but does it also take care of the PFI and DMI automaticallu or woul di have to inject those in manually? unsure.gif

Great program and great job....just a question though...should I hook-up my Xbox360 ODD to rip the game or can I just use the Pioneer 111d?

one of the X360 ODD (toshiba or samsung) or a Samsung SH-D162C in your PC with Kreon FW 0.81  (Not the pioneer for this).  The PC solution with the Samsung SH-D162C is real nice  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) . No x360 to open, simply put your game in the tray and click on start and then burn.

Thank you VERY MUCH for this application!

Just got my SD-162C and flashed it with Kreon today.  I checked X-S and voila!  New version of this app smile.gif

Backing up my first original today.  With a 5 year old son scratching the originals like crazy, this app will help me protect them!

And the good news is that the SH-D163A DVD-ROM is now on the market (it is replacing the SH-D162C that is not produced anymore). Kreon is mentionning in this thread that he is looking for tester, so it seems a solution will continue to be available. I was afraid that they would find a way to prevent new pc drive to be used for this. so very good news  biggrin.gif .

I am currently using the WXripper method to create my backups but this seems like a more elegant solution. My userstanding is if i get a Samsung SH-D162C and flash it with the Kreon firmware i can create complete backups which include the SS, DMS and PFI sectors.  So i will not have to extract and inject them manually with Xbox360 SS Merger. Is this correct ?

2nd question, do the images i create with this tool resemble WXripper images (with video partition) or xteme style images (blank video partition) ?

Thanks

GMtheBest - Using Kreon's firmware is the easiest solution. Xbox Backup Creator can make Images with or without the video section. The default is with the video section. One click and it will make a complete ready to burn backup.

doesnt seem like that drive (the sh-d163a and TS-H353A) are much easier to find here in the US.  at least not with a quick google.

sh-d162c drives were still being manufactured as of july 2006 also.  not sure if they officially stopped production since then.

Bug:  Samsung MS25, but flashed with Xtreme v40a, so basically it is now like an MS28.  In 0800 mode, hooked up and detected fine in the program.  Couldn't get the drive key from the Drive Tools tab.

crackersficus - can you do a compare against an image made the old way with DVDInfo and IsoBuster, etc... Is this a Xbox One or Xbox 360 disk?

bongmaster420 - Make sure to goto the options tab and turn on logging, set it to the hightest level (debug) and then do some SS extractions off the drive. PM the ss files and the log to me please.

It is not possible to create a true duplicate of a xbox disk, you will have to flash the firmware in the xbox in order to use these backups.

Hey RedLine, thanks for the utility. It is super easy to use.

I guess I've just got a few questions for anybody. I haven't really tracked previous applications or releases of this program, so I guess I need to understand a few things, as I haven't tried to burn my image yet. I do in fact have the sh-d162 drive to use with this utility, so it's to my understanding it should be very simple.

I've created an image of Fifa, it seemed fairly straightforward, ended up with an image about 7.05 gb as opposed to some of the earlier ones in my experiment stages I only got 6.80gb, so I'm guessing I made a copy of the image correctly.

Is burning the game supposed to take about 40-45 minutes?

I can use XB Backup Creator to extract the SS I know, but do I need to "Merge" the SS with the image using XB Backup Creator? I think I read somewhere that it automatically does it if you use XB Backup Creator to create your image, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Another thing, which should I select when using the SH-D162 for ripping games, SPTI or ASPI? How about when I'm using my Benq for burning games?

Do I have to do anything to my burner I plan to use to burn the games? I was reading a little about setting booktype or something?

I've got a benq dw1655 and I've read that it DOES in fact burn successful discs, but I've also got a pio 111 in case I need to go a different route.

I guess that is about it. I know, its a lot, sorry. Thanks in advance!  biggrin.gif

WELLLLLLLLLLLLL. Good news here from basecamp. I went ahead and tried it out. First attempt at burning a game, and SUCCESSFUL.

Wow. All I can say RedLine and those who helped him is THANK YOU. This is phenomenal. My XB360 games were getting all scratched up and whatnot.

I guess for the purpose of the exercise in case anyone else needs help, I'll try to answer my own questions to my best ability. Those who feel to add any info, go for it.

If you have a sh-d162 flashed with kreon's latest FW this using this utility will be SIMPLE backup creation for you.

Q: Is burning the game supposed to take about 40-45 minutes?
A: It did for me when I chose 2.4x. Oh well, can't complain.

Q: I can use XB Backup Creator to extract the SS I know, but do I need to "Merge" the SS with the image using XB Backup Creator?
A: If you ripped the image yourself using XB Backup Creator 2.2 you do not need to extract SS or any other files to inject, b/c XB Backup Creator automatically adds SS for you when you create the image.

Q: Another thing, which should I select when using the SH-D162 for ripping games, SPTI or ASPI? How about when I'm using my Benq for burning games?
A: I left it on the default for both, ripping and burning. (SPTI). Different settings might work better for different setups I suppose.

Q: Do I have to do anything to my burner I plan to use to burn the games? I was reading a little about setting booktype or something?
A: I used IMGBurn to set my booktype to DVD+R DL, I am not sure however if this is necessary or not.

Q: I've got a benq dw1655 and I've read that it DOES in fact burn successful discs, but I've also got a pio 111 in case I need to go a different route.
A: The Benq DW 1655 worked just fine to burn the disc. Now only if they made DL discs that were lightscribe!

Hope that helps someone. I guess I did my homework, with a little bit of guessing on the way.

Dustin

About bitsetting... Some burner firmwares will automatically do it for you, and then fome hacked xbox firmware don't care what it is set to... so it may or may not matter, depends on your setup.  If you have a choice I would always try to set the disk book type to DVD-ROM, but again it may not matter depending on your setup.

Burning... At 2.4x 45 minutes is within normal ranges.

Making the ISO... If you select "Complete Backup" then you do not need to do anything the the iso image.

SPTI vs ASPI... Depends on your setup, I provide both to give the most flexibility. They should in most cases operate the same.

Redline99, or anyone else...

Iam extremely new to the back up of my games, i have 2 kids under 6 who love to use my discs as building blocks rather than there intended use... I have been looking, researching, search and anything else i can to understand how to backup my games...I have a Xbox1 at present, and envison obtaining its big brother in very near future... i've just purchased the Samsung SHD162c drive from ebay, it has been flashed using Kreons firmware update... but i'm having trouble with all the technical jargon and what to do, i know this is a pain, and the last thing you guys need is a rookie hanging around asking questions but i just need a step by step guide from inserting the disc into the Samsung drive and making a image or iso as i have learnt and doing all i have to do to make a backup disc ready to use. (Redline do you do a guide for 'Dummies' LOL.
I have used XBC to make a copy of my disc, well i have tried... i place the xbox1 disc in (V8 Supercars) and get to about 7% before i get something about the disc being dirty from this point on the process slows right down.. it took 3 hours the other night... after this i selected security selector, then i tired to use xtract360 to extract the iso, but it won't read it, or i'm missing the point or something??? i am really frustrated at this point, as i am still basically stuck on step one, i can't even get to attempting to make a coaster... if anyone can assist and point me in the direction of a user guide or similar it would be much appreciated..

thanks

Hello, wonder if someone could help me with this please?

Ibought the Samsung Drive from Ebay, with the Kreon firmware etc etc, and I installed it and succesfully ripped my copy of Fight Night. So far so good.

I burned the Fight Night ISO using Clone CD, and put it into my 360 (Sammy drive flashed with latest firmware) and it booted up first go.

Now, this is the problem bit.  I had one fight on the game, and halfway through it, the screen froze in a pattern of red and grey lines!!!!  I had to switch my 360 off as it never responded to anything.  When I tried the game again after re-booting, it came up "This disc is unreadable!"  I then switched the 360 on and off, and it booted up.

My question's this; does anybody know what could've caused that problem?  I have the retail version of test drive, and I dowloaded a version from the net on Tuesday to see if backups work.  I have had no such problem with Test Drive, but Fight Night Freezes.  Could it be the way it's ripped???

Any ideas would be welcome.

Oh and also, how come you can't back up a backup with Xbox backup creator?????
