Altus - Xbox Package File Manager v1.0 by DarkNeo & XIU
Altus is a plugin based application for manipulating Xbox package formats. Currently there is no ability to add/remove files, although the structure is in place, just need the plugins to support it. I started writing this program because every time a new development was made it spawned off a new program, we have quite a lot of programmers on the scene if they're all writing the same thing we're just wasting time.
Included Plugins:
* ImageReader Plugin - Reads any ISO/360/BIN/TAO Xbox image, it will read a burnt Xbox DVD in a standard DVD drive, plus it will unlock and read from original Xbox drives.
* BF Plugin - Reads King Kong .bf files
* XZP Plugin - Reads .zxp format (mostly noticed on the Kiosk disc)
* XIP Plugin - Reads .xip files from the original Xbox

If using your Xbox DVD-ROM drive with IDE connected to your PC you can access original Xbox discs by 'unlocking' the drive on your PC.
see this news: http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/sep/EE...ZuyOeEXGGvX.php
no this does not work with a normal PC DVD drive, only with the Xbox DVD drive.

Has this been tried with a normal PC DVD drive like a LG GDR-8163 that has been flashed with an xbox 8050L firmware ?
If not I might take mine out of my xbox and give it a try I kept the orginal power plug so this should be fairly easy.
I read some post that earlier versions seem to have problems with modified pc dvd drives.

sweet deal...
I've been looking for something like this:D I have a poop load of burnt things that I can't read on my DVD drive.
how does this app work though? it seems to me that this was completely impossible a little while ago... what crazy innovation did you guys come up with?
Ive had questions of why we can't just Start from scratch when it comes to reading original Xbox DVDs...
Ive heard that they're burnt outside in instead of inside out... ha ha.. inside out
yea, is there a way to read the raw ones and zeroes that come from the drive?
and then have software interpret the data...
what sort of limitations would there be with this?
if it's as simple as "It wont work", why not?
hey... i just got a brain storm... maybe i put this in the wrong place:D crap... i'm always doing this...
oh well... I'll post and hope for a reply

Does this mean that the xbox360 can now read all xbox games? Meaning that it could possibly be softmodded?

I always wondered why they couldn't just do this, and finally after watching the DVD Firmware thread on Xbox Hacker I know why. There's some parts of a writable DVD that you just can't write to. For example there's a bit of data about the manufacturor of the disc, what speed it can be written at, the type of dye used, and the laser power needed.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) Where did that come from? Right now the xbox360 is still pretty solid, the only crack that's been found is the kiosk flash files (sorry if I'm missing any progress on the high level shaders and such, I've been busy with Altus!)

I unzip the atlus.zip package an run atlus.exe and i got "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application."
Am I missing something?

You have to install the .Net Framework 2.0
You can get this from the MS website.
