Title: Freeboot + Other Than Internal Hdd = No Avatars?
Post by: Caesar555 on July 31, 2010, 06:16:00 AM
I have multiple jtagged xbox's.

1 is with freeboot now. I installed it, applied the update with avatars and everything was fine.

however. since the new dash can use external storage devices as hard disks i just formated an old hard drive with the box and created a profile. however i don't have avatars with it. with an original memory unit its the same. no avatars.

but when i plug my xbox hard drive in i have avatars. i tried updating the dash again with the usb hard drive. but i don't get a message that i can. i also tried reverting back to xbreboot and do the procedure again. but i can't update the dash now.

is it normal that avatars only work with an internal hdd?

if not I'm open for suggestions how to fix this (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

AFAIK the avatar update will only go on HD's hooked up to the 360 via it's prop. sata port, or on internal MU's (which you don't want to use on a JTAG) - think it also might go on external MU's as well. Don't think it'll go on USB connected devices.
