Title: Banning Question
Post by: ropealope on September 15, 2009, 05:49:00 PM
Quick question,

ive got my box flashed and have been playing copied games offline for a while now, as far as games that i want to play online... well i buy the real game.

normally im used to the game leaking and getting to play it early, if i happen to get hold of a retail leak early I'll play it but stay offline until the release date of said game, i havnt been banned yet so i guess what im asking is if you play early releases of copied games but stay offline completely until the game is released before coming back online, can microsoft tell that youve played the game early, theres no datestamp on my xbox.com and if I earn achievements offline they dont show the acquired date as they would if i played them online.

am i to believe if i stay offline with my early games and hold off even appearing online until release will microsoft know ive played the game early.

microsoft made an announcement that they wont ban people playing legitimate games early. if u assume that ur backups are "perfect" and wont be banned after the release date, then chances are u wont get banned for playing before the release.

Not that I don't believe you, but can you supply a link to where they say this?  I don't want to tell this to all the people I've modded, until I know for a fact.

Same, as did 4 people I know. It appears to be for playing Forza 3 early. Bans ranging from 1 day to October 30th that I've seen (Though all the emails are identical, and all say Permanent). Interesting note, there's nothing in the CoC or ToS against playing pre-release games, and they're banning people even if they got it early from a store without discretion, it would seem.

The Code of Conduct isn't even there if you try and click on it. I wonder if they're not just now revising it. Banning first then revising?

My gamertag has been banned as well until 12/31/9999. Doubt I'll live to see that day... All I did was play some Forza 3, looks like that is a problematic title.

Anyway, if Microsoft truly is catching people who are playing a non retail copy, then it means your Xbox is marked for the next Ban Wave. I for one are selling my Xbox while it still has online capabilities, and let someone else take the roll of the dice with the ban hammer when that falls a day before MW2 comes out.
